**** That does make sense. Why would you make a map for your little biology experiment to use that leads them to an ''armory''? If it was meant to be a map, why not point your experiment to a planet that has, you know, no weapons that can be used against you?

** This also gives reasons for later sliminess of Weyland-Yutani employees. We do not know how much information got back to Earth (as in regular data transmissions sent back), so the entire mission could have been received by the W-Y folks back home. They could have made the same connection as above, in that the goo that was so well protected was the best way to kill the Engineers. Future missions would have been geared towards gathering samples of this bioweapon at any costs, thus setting up the events in ''Alien'' and ''Aliens''. Weyland-Yutani ''knew'' the only chance humanity had against a technologically superior race was to use their own weapons against them, and the androids (which are W-Y property) had a hard-wired drive to obtain these weapons. Though W-Y would have used these weapons to save mankind from annihilation, they used some extremely dubious methods to obtain them. If Burke maybe would have mentioned that they needed samples of the xenomorph, and why, the marines in ''Aliens'' may have used different methods. Of course, Burke himself may have never known the real reason his employer's wanted these samples in the first place.

** That is.... brilliant. Consider the actions of the Engineer as it woke up. At first, it seems almost amused at these little copies of itself, but then gets angry when David attempts to communicate. Consider this from the Engineer's angle: the "experiment" shows up on ''your'' planet and speaks ''your'' language. These little beings had to have come through several stockpiles of the goo (like the huge one right before your control room), and you have no idea how much they know about you and the goo. You could be potentially at these "human's" mercy, or they could be studying this goo in order to learn how to kill you! The best reaction? Kill them all, and ask questions later.

*** Then why the panic over getting into a spacesuit before launching an escape pod? Surely the {{Kayfabe}} isn't that critical when death is seconds away and no-one's around to see it?

*** It is if you think about just how large the monster was in its infancy, if it had gone out the "normal" way, I believe Shaw's "...." would have been more than just a [[DeathByChildbirth tight squeeze]]. More likely [[HalfTheWomanSheUsedToBe it would have split her open.]]

** Nah Vickers [[spoiler: is probably an android]]. She makes a comment early on about being a very cautious person - but later [[spoiler: we find out that she didn't even bother to have the medical pod programmed for female anatomy]]. She probably [[spoiler: slept with Janek to throw off his flippant accusation about her being a robot]]. The emphasis she places on the word [[spoiler: father]] could have been sarcasm rather than anger.
*** If Vickers [[spoiler: is an android, it explains why she recovers from stasis almost instantly while the rest of the crew is left nauseous and weakened.]]

**** This would hold true for beings that evolved independently, however, humans did not evolve independently from the Engineers, but were instead based on them. It's entirely possible that humans could have picked up any number of instinctive behaviors from the Engineers. And if the Engineers had a hand in helping human culture to develop, it's all the more likely that the pointing gesture may have a similar significance across both species.

* In the wine scene, When David asks Holloway what he would be willing to do to get his answers, Holloway replies "anything and everything". David, being presumably unable to willingly hurt humans, was looking for a way to circumvent that rule and Holloway just gave David permission to infect him with the black liquid!

*Despite the movie being set several years before the events of Alien, the Prometheus is way more advanced than the Nostromo. Why? Because the titular ship of the movie is a scientific vessel. The Nostromo, on the other hand, was just a mining ship. It was never supposed to feature top-notch computers and equipment. The Prometheus' design also reflect its necessity of being aerodynamic while operating in an atmosphere. The Nostromo was not design to operate in an atmosphere.
**Also, the technology in Prometheus is a little primitive in comparison to the technology from Alien. Just take a look at the way the crew of the Promotheus wakes from its hibernation and the way the crew of the Nostromo does the same thing.
