**** This would hold true for beings that evolved independently, however, humans did not evolve independently from the Engineers, but were instead based on them. It's entirely possible that humans could have picked up any number of instinctive behaviors from the Engineers. And if the Engineers had a hand in helping human culture to develop, it's all the more likely that the pointing gesture may have a similar significance across both species.

* In the wine scene, When David asks Holloway what he would be willing to do to get his answers, Holloway replies "anything and everything". David, being presumably unable to willingly hurt humans, was looking for a way to circumvent that rule and Holloway just gave David permission to infect him with the black liquid!

*Despite the movie being set several years before the events of Alien, the Prometheus is way more advanced than the Nostromo. Why? Because the titular ship of the movie is a scientific vessel. The Nostromo, on the other hand, was just a mining ship. It was never supposed to feature top-notch computers and equipment. The Prometheus' design also reflect its necessity of being aerodynamic while operating in an atmosphere. The Nostromo was not design to operate in an atmosphere.
**Also, the technology in Prometheus is a little primitive in comparison to the technology from Alien. Just take a look at the way the crew of the Promotheus wakes from its hibernation and the way the crew of the Nostromo does the same thing.

** Why does David like ''Film/LawrenceOfArabia'' so much? Because T.E. Lawrence is TheStoic who harbors a ton of SuppressedRage. All those slights David endures? "The trick is to ''not mind'' that it hurts."

*** It would be possible, if the Engineers had taken human specimens back, to test the black goo on (or, for whatever other reason). However, if the Engineers did learn what happens when you mix human and goo, they would be incredibly stupid for them to then make plans to mix them ''deliberately''...

**** From the deleted scene, the Engineer is genuinelly confused as to why they came, and but only went hostile after Weyland asked for immortality.

*** Actually, the exact words are "What makes this man so great as to ask for such a thing?!". It's not a case of being against immortality, and more of being insulted by the fact some old guy from an infant/inferior species believes himself worthy of it. Up until that point, the Engineer was just confused and curious as to why they had come (indicating at least the message WASN'T some invitation. He even looked confused at Shaw's outburst). Once Weyland opened his mouth and started bragging to be like a god, it got pissed off. Maybe the Engineers DO have something akin to immortality or at least are able to prolongate life, but they aren't just handing it out because you think yourself like them.

** According to a deleted scene, the engineer angrily asks Weyland (translated through David) why you'd even want immortal life, so it seems the engineers actually do not have immortality and although create other species, are against the idea of immortality.
