* Princess Mononoke's name is San, which means three or third. She is shown wearing smaller wolf's fur / skin as a cape and sleeping on it. Odds are high that Moro originaly had three cubs. What if San's parents killed the youngest one and she took their child as a payback for that and to allow them to live?

* No wonder Ashitaka empathized so much with the plight of the forest, despite being resolutely on the side of human society: he knows first hand what it's like to watch your people dwindle into extinction.

* The Japanese version establishes Kaya not as Ashitaka's sister but rather [[ArrangedMarriage his betrothed]] before his exile made it impossible. [[SignificantDoubleCasting Kaya is voiced by Yuriko Ishida, who is also the same voice actress for San herself]]. In other words, Kaya foreshadows that Ashitaka will fall in love with San, going as far as giving Kaya's crystal dagger to her.

****It should probably be kept in mind that a hypothetical matchlock pistol would be very underpowered for hunting large animals. Much less the gigantic super natural ones in Mononoke.

This is not a forum.

* Why did San try to [[SuckOutThePoison suck out the bullet]] in Moro's chest? With her much-more-nimble-than-paws human hands, why didn't she just reach in and pull it out? Moro's a god, she likely would have survived it. It's not like it wasn't slowly killing her anyway.
** She was sucking out blood, if I recall correctly; it's possible she was trying to remove the blood tainted by gunpowder.
** Did she even know there was a bullet in there? I mean, she was RaisedByWolves. She probably doesn't understand how guns hurt people. It's not like a bow where you can see the projectile moving, just a bang, some smoke, and an injured target.
*** She was treating her mother's bullet wound the same way one day earlier. She's seen what guns can do.
** She was trying to prevent blood poisoning, a serious threat with unsanitized injuries. It's unlikely that she could have removed the shot without medical tools whether she knew about it or not. It was most likely lodged in a bone.

*****Unlikely, she already has people loading for her, judging by the fight scenes. Considering her aim, it is probably a good choice.

A subtle one. When Ashitaka sees [[spoiler:the Samurai massacre]] near the beginning, you see a warrior [[spoiler: cut a mans arm off]]. Almost right after that another soldier shouts "They're unarmed, move in!"

**** Even if she could fire a pistol one handed, could she load one? These are muzzle loaded flintlock weapons. It can be hard for people with two arms to load them well. She would always have to have someone there to load it for her. Her loss of aim due to her disablity, the wasted person on just reloading for her, and her sense of independence and efficiency would lead her to just stay back in town and administrate.

** Well, it wasn't Moro at that point. It was her zombified head taking a last crack at Eboshi before dying. There wasn't much thought involved at that stage.

Pretty sure this only refers to Brilliance and Horror. There\'s a Just Bugs Me page for Logic.

* FridgeBrilliance: Why did Moro only manage to [[spoiler: take off Eboshi's one arm? She can never fire a rifle again]].
* FridgeLogic: So Askitaka is able to shoot the heads off of several samurai throughout the course of the movie. Newton's Third Law would like to have a word with his apparently extremely durable bow.
** The magic shown in the film in general and Ashitaka's curse in particular would like to take a moment to laugh in the face of Newton's Laws.
** How did the Forest spirit leave tracks under water when it walks on water?
*** Why does the ability to walk on water mean one cannot move through it?
