The Chixculub asteroid wouldn't even be the worst thing to happen to life on Earth that they know of; they've been to the Permian, so they know of the Permian-Triassic event, also known as [[NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast the Great Dying]]. And there's a chance it wouldn't even be the first asteroid impact they know of, since it's speculated that one ''might'' have caused the Triassic-Jurassic event as well[[note]]Other candidates include gradual climate change or a volcano outbreak; we just don't know for sure[[/note]]. Coupled with the fact that they know life even continues in the Cenozoic, the Conductor probably [[ConditionedToAcceptHorror isn't too worried about any given apocalypse]], having seen for himself how cyclic life on Earth is. [[TheAntiNihilist No use fighting the changing cycles, so might as well learn as much as he can about them]]. Besides: someone with time travel quite literally has all the time in the world. If they ever felt they were in danger, there's no shortage of places to go.

* Almost every animal in this show is an example of AmazingTechnicolorWildlife, but the mammals are mostly dull colours such as grey or brown. In real life, mammals aren't very colourful because only have one pigment, compared to reptiles (for example), which have four.

* As a sort of response to the above FridgeHorror, maybe the dinosaurs use Cenozoic mammals for their food? It would explain why the train has never gone forwards in time from the end of the Mesozoic as there’s nothing there but farm animals, essentially.

** In the episode Father's Day, it is revealed that Mr. Conductor's father used his drill train to go to the Cenozoic but his train broke down and the tunnel collapsed, trapping him until the episode, in which Mr. Conductor uses a new drill train to go to the Cenozoic (who only knew the name of the era because the train Systems said so), and they get his father back to the Mesozoic.

* Okay so... TimeTravel is a reality in the dinosaur society. It's so commonly used that the various dinosaurs react to time travelers in pretty much the same way as they would with tourists. Than again, it's basically the writer's way to avoid Temporally MisplacedWildlife, which is fine.
* PlotBunny: Suppose a few dinosaurs miss the train, and the local train station only gets a train at very rare random intervals. They decide to start a new family in their new time and end up creating a new occurrence of their species either before their actual appearance, or after their extinction. Time paradox at its purest.

** Remember, the show is for children who are just learning to identify different animals by name. But the producers did kind of acknowledge this idea. There is an episode where Tiny accidentally leaves [[CompanionCube her favorite toy]] in a friend's nest before boarding the train (it is rescued by another pterosaur) and that's more than enough drama for the target audience.

* It may seem odd that in a show all about dinosaurs, most of the main characters... aren't. But from a meta perspective, it makes sense, since it gives them an opportunity to teach kids that pterosaurs aren't dinosaurs straight away. And since the first few episodes are about Buddy trying to figure out what species he is, and everyone knows he's ''some'' kind of dinosaur, it also gives them an opportunity to teach kids what the term "dinosaur" encompasses.

(Regarding the ''other'' end of the line, the train terminates at Troödon Town. If they do know what lies beyond the end of the Cretaceous, and there is a similar tunnel available, they're probably not letting anyone through.)
