** On that note, Helen killed him, so now there's two supernatural, undead killers roaming around and killing people who say their names in front of a mirror.
** Except that Candyman died in the fire and Helen took his place.
*** Candyman lived thanks to the faith in him. His power was waning and Helen presumably killed him in the fire... And then came back herself as a murderous, hooked entity that's summoned by saying her name five times in front of a mirror, which will make people think once again about Candyman, and the faith in her legend will reinforce the one in the original. So basically she killed him, and then her own return nullified it.

** I think this is the intended interpretation with how the third one ends. Both the 2nd and 3rd clearly show hurting things that directly relate to him in life (the mirror and his paintings) can do some damage but as long as there is belief he can come back.

** Also since Helen burned to death, she would theoretically be more powerful than Candyman; when Candyman was killed by bees he became [[TheWormThatWalks a skeleton full of thousands of bees from the neck down]]. Helen was killed by fire so she could have [[PlayingWithFire pyrokinesis]].

* Beneath his coat, Candyman is essentially [[BodyHorror a living beehive with his skeleton housing hundreds of bees,]] referencing how he died. While it makes sense he'd retain his mortal injuries, why are the bees still there? Because bees die after using their stingers. The spirits of that swarm decided to make a new home inside him, and now there's a symbiotic relationship: his body provides sustenance, and in turn they serve as weapons or intimidation when he's not using the hook.

* As mentioned, the fact that Candyman wears his infamous fur coat makes him look like a pimp. Only he's also affected by belief. While Cabrini Greene's residents would probably imagine him wearing something different, the fact that his legend has spread to the suburbs means that the predominantly white population would imagine him differently. As Anne-Marie said, the residents of Cabrini Greene are used to people imagining the residents in degrading ways.

** Trevor's new girlfriend went to check on him in the bathroom, only to find his mutilated corpse. As if it was bad enough already she was making dinner and still holding a very large carving knife. [[NotWhatItLooksLike What are cops gonna think when the neighbor calls complaining about the screaming?]]
*** On that note, Helen killed him, so now there's two supernatural, undead killers roaming around and killing people who say their names in front of a mirror.
** Assuming that the Candyman legend still gets spread even as a joke, can't Candyman still keep coming back after his descendants despite Caroline's best efforts?
*** I think this is the intended interpretation with how the third one ends. Both the 2nd and 3rd clearly show hurting things that directly relate to him in life (the mirror and his paintings) can do some damage but as long as there is belief he can come back.
** At the end of the first film Helen has become a supernatural being who appears anytime someone says her name five times in front of a mirror, just like Candyman. While her first victim was her unfaithful jerk of an husband, Trevor, how do we know she won't kill everyone who says her name?
*** Also since Helen burned to death, she would theoretically be more powerful than Candyman; when Candyman was killed by bees he became [[TheWormThatWalks a skeleton full of thousands of bees from the neck down]]. Helen was killed by fire so she could have [[PlayingWithFire pyrokinesis]].

* FridgeLogic: Why would they give him a hook for a hand if they intended to kill him anyways?
** Because they were just torturing him for the hell of it.
** They probably didn't give him one. The urban legend itself did. It's a story of a one-handed killer. Of course he must have a hook in the other hand.
