* CompletelyDifferentTitle: In Germany, the movie is known as ''96 Hours''... complete without translation in English, making finding this article exceptionally hard without the help of IMDB.
** And in Russia it's called "The Hostage" (Заложница).
** In Italy, it became "Io vi troverò" ("I will find you").
** In Spain, it's "Venganza" ("Revenge").
** In Latin America, it's called "Búsqueda Implacable" (Implacable Search)

* CaliforniaDoubling: Certain scenes (such as driving ones) were filmed in coastal Southern Spain.

->''"I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired [[RetiredBadass over a very long career]]. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my daughter go now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I ''will'' find you, and '''I will kill you'''."''

* {{Badass}}: Bryan Mills, nuff said.

* DisposableWoman: The whole plot revolves around this; the reason Kim exists is so that she can be kidnapped, giving her father an excuse to show what a {{Badass}} he is.

* IronicEcho: The phrase "Good luck." Not in the usual way, but perhaps even more {{Badass}}. Bryan tricks the {{mook|s}} who said it to him over the phone into repeating it to him in person right before he reveals who he is.

* {{Hatesink}}:
** What’s there to like about Lenny or Lenore in the first film? She’s incredibly rude towards Bryan and goes out of her way to keep him away from Kimmie. She also pressures Bryan into letting Kimmie go to Paris and is ok with her lying about the museum visits.
** The villains, as they're a bunch of human trafficers, one of the most heinous crimes in the world.

* BadassGrandpa: Well, Badass Dad if you want to get technical. It's never specified how old Bryan is, but Liam Neeson is pushing 60, and Bryan's age is mentioned to be a factor, but he can still waste a dozen villains half his age without breaking a sweat, and it's only near the very end of the movie that he starts visibly feeling the strain.

** In Taken 3, those cops should've listened when they were told that Bryan doesn't screw up.

* ForWantOfANail: See ContrivedCoincidence. Bryan calls Kim shortly after she and Amanda arrive in Paris, and during the call Kim and Amanda are kidnapped by the Albanians. Thank God Bryan called at the time he did, as if he hadn't, the plot wouldn't have gone ahead and Bryan almost certainly wouldn't have found out the girls had been kidnapped until it was way too late.

** Bryan happens to be on the phone with Kim ''at the precise moment'' the Albanians break in to kidnap her and her friend; if he hadn't been, the plot would have ended right there.
