** The trailer and TV spots make it look like the family is being driven to the beach in the scene where Trent asks if they’re there yet. The trailer also makes it look like this scene happens a little bit later in the movie, but that scene is actually the opening scene of the movie, and they’re being driven to the hotel.
** When the trailer shows the comparison between Trent played by Alex Wolff and Trent played by Nolan River, the shot of Trent played by Nolan River is from a scene where they’re at the beach that they went to before the one that makes them age rapidly, but the trailer makes it look like he’s on the beach that causes rapid aging.

Not a subversion - there’s no set up or bait and switch involved here.

** {{Subverted|Trope}} with Charles, the only character to retain their original name. In the graphic novel, he's the father of Louis and Sophie, but in the film, he's the father of Kara, the movie's version of Zoe.

** The blackouts while trying to leave the beach are explained as the difficulty the body has with adapting to the sudden change in aging rate. However they suffered no ill effects from entering the beach, even though intuitively one would expect a sudden speed-up in aging would be more stressful than sudden slow-down.
