** There's also the case of Brodie's hockey video game. Originally, he was shown playing an Creator/EASports hockey game and its distinctive music could be heard. 20 years after the film was released, a sequel was [[http://www.slashfilm.com/kevin-smith-mallrats-2-2015/ unexpectedly announced]] by Smith, titled ''Mallbrats''; they're doing this before ''Clerks III'' as a tribute to late Universal producer Jim Jacks, who supported Kevin, the movie and a potential sequel even after the movie flopped; almost all of the cast (with the exception of Creator/BenAffleck) has been confirmed to return. Filming's scheduled to begin at the [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exton_Square_Mall Exton Square Mall]] in the Philadelphia suburbs in 2016; according to [[http://www.denofgeek.us/movies/mallrats-2/249676/mallrats-2-kevin-smith-drops-new-details this article,]] it'll basically be the old "''Film/DieHard'' in a mall" idea Smith had tossed around, but with a "Save the Clock Tower" element, specifically having Brodie try to save the mall by organizing a Comic-Con, only to have terrorists invade. Ralph Garman (the host of ''Series/TheJoeSchmoShow'' and one of Smith's more recent media partners) will portray the terrorist leader, and Creator/BruceCampbell has been cast in an unknown role. [[http://consequenceofsound.net/2016/06/kevin-smith-confirms-mallrats-2-will-be-a-10-episode-series/ More recently]], Smith revealed that, due to being bogged down with legal issues between him and Creator/{{Universal}} (a partner in Gramercy), the sequel would be reconfigured into a 10-episode TV series instead; however, this plan was pitched with no success and the project is now on the backburner.
