Removing the comment because it is factually incorrect - "genie" is an English transliteration of "djinni", and both refer to the same concept (from the Qu'ran and Arabic folklore); they were never separate.
** English genie and Arabic jinni/djinni ''used'' to be two unrelated concepts, so that could have had some justification if someone had [[TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot actually decided to do research]].

Not to be confused with {{Shazzan}} which was a cartoon about an heroic genie, or with the similar-sounding ''{{ComicBook/Shazam}}'' who's a superhero.

The film gained $18,937,262 in the United States market, the 87th most successful film of its year. Critically however, it did nowhere near as well.
