It is the second instalment in the Cry Baby Universe. Preceded by, of course, ''Music/CryBaby''.

* {{Sequel}}: The film is a sequel to the album ''Music/CryBaby'', where the main character goes through the thirteen years of school.

* TookALevelInBadass: Cry Baby, in between her [[Music/CryBaby debut]] and this, manages to gain some sort of power (presumably from Lilith) that borders on low-level {{RealityWarp|er}}ing.

* LoveLetter: Ben slips one into Cry Baby's locker. The principal's son [[BigBad Leo]] takes advantage of the love letter, using it to trick Cry Baby into attending the dance instead of following through with her plan to burn down the school.

* FiveManBand: Cry Baby and her friends fit this role.
** TheLeader: Cry Baby herself is TheLeader, as the main protagonist of the film.
** TheLancer: Angelita. She plays off Cry Baby well, and gets the second-most screentime of all the characters.
** TheSmartGuy: Celeste. She's the one who comes up with the plan to destroy K-12.
** TheBigGuy: Magnolia. She's the one who suggested causing a food fight to get Fleur away from Kelly, and seems to be the one to resort to violent means the first, as she wanted in on the food fight.
** TheChick: Fleur. She's soft-spoken and quiet (probably as a result from Kelly's abuse), but has a big heart.
** SixthRanger: Ben. He is shy and away from Cry Baby and her friends, but in the end reveals himself to her and helps her destroy K-12.

A sequel is set to be released in 2022.

* AlphaBitch: Kelly, the girl who bullies Crybaby in the film. Unfortunately for her, her clique abandons her by the end of the film.

* CrapsaccharineWorld: It takes place in Crybaby’s universe, so this is expected.
* CreepyDoll: The doll from the “Show & Tell” segment, which turns out to be what the teacher turned Crybaby into. She’s changed back by Angelita by the next scene.
* DoWrongRight: In the chorus of "Class Fight," Cry Baby's father gives her advice about how to go about the titular fight with her romantic rival. Since in the previous album it is implied that he is involved in something illigal, this comes as no surprise.
* DramaQueen: "Drama Club", among other meanings, is a TheReasonYouSuckSpeech directed at those: they always find reasons to feel offended and actually feign all their suppoused feelings [[AttentionWhore to attract attention]].

* EarnYourHappyEnding: After setting the students free, Crybaby and Ben [[ItMakesSenseInContext surround the school in a spit bubble]] causing it to float away and poof out of existence. Lilith appears to take them all home. [[spoiler: However, when asked if Crybaby is going to come along, she hesitates and the movie ends on a cliffhanger.]]

* EyeCam: The film starts off with Crybaby waking up, with the camera in her eyes' perspective.
* FalseFriend: To the theme of “Lunchbox Friends”, Kelly attempts to make Crybaby join her clique only for Crybaby to tell them she doesn’t want fake friends and ends up befriending the lone Magnolia instead.
* FiveManBand: Crybaby and her friends fit this role.

** "Show and Tell" seems to be one directed at her less pleasant fans, more specifically, the fans who left the fandom and burned her merch due to the allegations of rape against her.
* TeacherStudentRomance: To the theme of "Teacher's Pet", Crybaby's best friend Angelita has one with their teacher. [[KilledOffForReal It ends badly]] [[KarmicDeath for the teacher.]]

The school is called K-12, which in the US is a shorthand term describing children from kindergarten to 12th grade (or, more accurately, kids from ages 6 all the way to 18 years old, making the age range from early childhood to early adulthood). That being said, all the students are played by far older actors (with Melanie herself being 25), with no real attempt to make them look younger outside of the childlike outfits and general aesthetic of the movie. This can be justified in that, [[HarmfulToMinors considering the movie's content,]] having actual kids play it might have been a bit too disturbing.

* YouKilledMyFather: At the end, Leo uses the school dance to take revenge on the entire student body, and Crybaby in particular, for murdering his father during "Drama Club".
