** Tim, who's portrayed as a flawed person whose heart is nonetheless in the right place. He does kick Gloria out (but after waiting for her to change for a year) and later becomes judgmental of her new choices (ostensibly because he's seen her do better as a professional writer, though it's suggested he has some controlling tendencies of his own). And, despite everything, he still cares about her enough to try to get her to get away from [[spoiler:Oscar]]. At the heart of it, he's not a bad dude, so much as one who is utterly frustrated with Gloria's mess of a life and can't help but lecture and complain about it.
