Here, technological advancement allows gives them a fully functional, self-learning ArtificialIntelligence and a functioning cyberentic endoskeleton. They're capable of actual conversation, or at least a very close simulation of it, can wirelessly interface with other Kaslan products ranging from television sets to say more.thermostats to automated vacuum cleaners to drones and smart cars, can walk and pick things up under their own power, and they grow increasingly intelligent as they interact with the world around them. It's no wonder that the Buddi dolls are so prestigious.

Child's Play, also known as Child's Play 2019, is a reboot of the slasher series Franchise/ChildsPlay with a more modern-day take.In fact, because Chucky has been reimagined as a Robotic Psychopath robotic artificial intelligence, the 2019 version doesn't fit the definition of a SlasherMovie, as the antagonist is no longer objectively "evil" nor driven by revenge for past transgressions. It's more aptly described as a science fiction horror film. It was announced back in July 2018 and was released the following year in June 2019 by Creator/MetroGoldwynMayer, due to them still having the rights and concept to the original film.

* AdultsAreUseless: An interesting case; while Andy, Falyn and Pugg are the main ones dealing with Chucky's rampages, for the most part they don't actually tell Karen or Mike about it. While Karen in particular doesn't believe Andy later on, it's more due to her not having much information to go on to support Andy's claims than arbitrary skepticism (and because Karen works full-time at a toy store, she's hardly available to Andy). Mike initially believed Andy was the killer, but again, given the evidence, it wasn't an unreasonable assumption.

Added DiffLines:

* MistakenForInsane: Thanks to Chucky, from Karen's perspective Andy's having a nervous breakdown - including fighting, stealing another kid's phone, smashing up their apartment with a baseball bat and being led away in cuffs - all because he keeps telling her his doll is trying to kill them. It's slightly more plausible than normal because she's LockedOutOfTheLoop regarding Chucky's actions until fairly late in the film, so hearing it all at once sounds nuts to say the least.

Bastard Boyfriend has been rehauled into Fetishized Abuser (for then the narrative portrays an abuser as sexually desirable). Otherwise, it's an example of Domestic Abuser. If both people display toxic behaviors, it's Romanticized Abuse. If the romantic partner is an unpleasant person but not outright abusive, then they are just a Jerk Ass.

* AdaptationalJerkass: In the original, Karen is a devoted and struggling single mother who attempted to honestly buy a Good Guy doll from a second-hand merchant who then attempted to rape her. Here, she's somewhat rather neglectful to Andy as she doesn't really care about his opinion of her BastardBoyfriend. She also essentially blackmails a co-worker to get the Buddi doll.

Adult Fear is now a disambig.

* AdultFear: The film may lean towards the fantastical, but if you're a parent, having Karen (oblivious to Chucky's true nature) gradually seeing what looks like her son having a nervous breakdown - including fighting, stealing another kid's phone, smashing up their apartment with a baseball bat and being led away in cuffs (all because he believes his doll is trying to kill them) - is unnerving to say the least.

* AdaptationalBadass: Since this version of Chucky is an AI who can connect to other devices via the Cloud, he's able to develop a sort of omnipresence once he has the Kaslan products under his control. this trope is about a supposedly lazy person putting more effort into avoiding a task than they would have expended actually doing the task. Both these entries seem to think that the trope is about being lazy on the job, so removing.

* LaboriousLaziness:
** Chien, the sloppy day-dreaming factory worker at that Vienamese sweatshop where they make the Buddi dolls. For simply zoning out he gets slapped and fired by his MeanBoss, which angers him into tampering with his last Buddi doll and it winds up in Andy's hands.
** Karen is very lazy at her job as a Buddi store clerk. When dealing with a customer who is angry his Buddi came out ginger instead of blonde, Karen just tells him not to swear at her then sloppily excuses that he could see the doll through the box's window. But the problem was, he ordered the doll online, not in-store so he couldn't see the box for himself.
