''Attack The Block'' is a 2011 British comedy-horror film directed and written by Creator/JoeCornish and produced by EdgarWright. In South London, a teenage street gang -- Moses, Pest, Dennis, Jerome, and Biggz -- are mugging a female nurse (Sam) when a meteor comes crashing down into a nearby car. It's no meteor, though -- it's an alien. A hostile, violent alien. [[TonsOfTeeth With big scary teeth]]. After attacking Moses, the alien is killed by the gang -- but more come crashing down, and itís up to these kids to take them down and save their block.

** Played straight when they repeatedly call the police [[YouKeepUsingThatWord "Feds"]], not realising that England doesn't have a ''Federal'' Government (besides the fact that their crimes wouldn't be Federal crimes even if it did).
*** That's actually become a commonly-used term in British teen-speak over the last couple of years. Too much watching TheWire?
*** The use of "Feds" or "Federales" has been commonplace in British slang for decades, along with "cozzers", "rozzers", "pigs", "filth", "scum" and a whole load of other, more demeaning, nicknames for the police.
* EruditeStoner: Brewis, to a degree.

Added DiffLines:

**Somewhat averted with the reveal that if they had not the rest of the species would have mated with the [[spoiler: Queen, leading to the Block being invaded enmasse by hordes of aliens. While their actions cost them and other innocents, Moses and his crew most likely saved thousands.]]

Added DiffLines:

* FreeRangeChildren: The whole gang, pretty much, but especially Moses; it's revealed late in the film that his only adult "supervision" comes from an uncle who is seldom around.

* BlueAndOrangeMorality: In-Universe for Sam, as she does not understand the boy's logic when they explain that they never would have mugged her if they knew that she lived in the same building as them. This could also double a very mild version of EvenEvilHasStandards, since mugging defenseless people is never okay, but at least they would never do it to someone they knew was struggling to get by just like them.

Added DiffLines:

* BlackAndGreyMorality: The boys are certainly not angels, as they are introduced as muggers and general hoodlums in the beginning, but compared to psychopaths and drug-pushers like Hi-Hatz, they seem downright saintly.

* FiveManBand
** TheHero - Moses - The clear leader of the group.
** TheLancer- Pest - He gives Moses a lot of support.
** TheBigGuy- Dennis - The most hotheaded of the group.
** TheSmartGuy- Jerome - Probably the most level-headed one - and he [[{{Megane}} has glasses]]. Brewis picks this up, and is the one to figure out what the aliens are after.
** TheChick - Biggz... well he ''does'' spend half the movie hiding in a dumpster
** SixthRanger - Sam, who joins the group partway through.
** TagalongKid - Probs and Mayhem want to be this, but the others don't let them join.

* GenreSavvy:
** [[spoiler:After the aliens attack the group in Tia's apartment, Tia and her three friends immediately realize that the aliens are going only after Moses and his friends, and decide to stay away from the boys by [[ScrewThisImOuttaHere running out of the building]]. All four of them survive.]]
** Tonks, upon noticing that Pest is telling the truth about there being something nearby, refuses to go check on it when Hi-Hatz asks him to. [[spoiler:Unfortunately for him, Hi-Hatz threatens to shoot him if he doesn't go check, which ends up with the nearby alien killing Tonks.]]
