** When the cast is "humanized" in fanart, Twilight is often given a brown-skinned ethnicity, most often African-American or Indian -- many artists also choose to because the darker skin tone looks best with the palette of purples; one of the most popular pony fanartists, Yamino, also claims Twilight reminds her of a Sri Lankan she once knew -- or just AmbiguouslyBrown. She's also often depicted as wearing lavender sweater vests, usually over white dress shirts, for a generally nerdy or academic look. Twilight usually keeps her hime cut from her pony form but a lot of fan-artists also shorten her hair into a prim-and-proper bob haircut.
** Human Rainbow Dash is almost always drawn as flat-chested and short. She dresses tomboyishly, often in sweatshirts, track jackets (often with goggles) or tank tops; her hairstyle differs more than most other characters, but short ponytails/having an undercut are popular.

** Applejack's blonde hair, green eyes, and Texan drawl mean that she is almost always white, with most fan artists tending to ignore the idea of her having dark skin, and the fact that there ''are'' POC in the south, too. * When it comes to the Mane Six's sexualities, Twilight Sparkle (and less commonly, Fluttershy), is often headcanoned to be asexual (though bisexual is also common, the former's mane is even the colors of the bisexual pride flag), Pinkie Pie is almost ALWAYS pansexual (like Twilight, likely because her color scree resembles the pansexual pride flag), Rainbow Dash is lesbian (see above), Applejack will either be completely straight or completely homosexual, and although Rarity is the only one in the Mane Six who has shown attraction to stallions before, only half of the fandom sees her as completely straight. The other half sees her as bisexual, homo/heteroflexible, a hetero/biromantic of any sexuality, etc. Pansexual Princess Cadance is also popular, as the princess of love. Celestia and Luna are often bisexual and have had various female and male lovers over the centuries.

* Particularly in the early fandom, a common assumption was that most of the setting's major species were subdivided into a handful of major kinds in a manner similar to the unicorn/pegasus/earth divided of the ponies. This were sometimes patterned directly after the ponies' in a magic, flying, and earth/nature/regular trifecta, or else used an original pattern. This was especially common for the dragons, as it helped to explain the differences between Spike and the two adults seen, particularly his lack of wings. A common element, which was usually present even when distinct races weren't, was for other species to have an immortal, godlike ruler analogous to Celestia and Luna, often overseeing some other part of the natural world. This gradually fell by the wayside as more of each species' culture was seen; dragons, for instance, were shown to all be winged firebreathers by default, although the idea of Spike being some sort of otherwise unseen "earth dragon" persisted until "Molt Down" aired.

* The presence of an Equestrian nobility is very popular, despite no nobles actually appearing in the show -- there are royals, including the Princesses and the one-shot character Prince Blueblood, and there are a lot of rich upper-crust members, but actual titled nobility never appears. These are typically depicted as corrupt, arrogant, racist/speciesist/tribalist (i.e., they're unicorns and look down on non-unicorns or -alicorns), and generally shallow and conceited. They're also constantly angling for tax breaks in Celestia's court.

** Princess Celestia being SemiDivine or otherwise having access to godlike magical power. This originated during seasons one and two, where a very sharp divide was visible between Celestia and all other ponies, and very little was known about her besides her being immortal, moving the celestial bodies, and being associated with a lot of heavenly and angelic imagery. As the show went on, however, Celestia never really demonstrated magical power beyong the bounds of the show's other various powerful beings -- the movement of the sun and moon was replicated by others, she lost most fights she got into, and magical attacks affected her the same as anybody else. The only exception to this was her evil counterpart, Daybreaker, claiming that she secretly knows that she's strong and doesn't need Luna, but Daybreaker was a figure in the nightmare of another character who isn't portrayed as being very close to Celestia anyway. Ultimately, Celestia in canon is portrayed as a teacher and adminstrator first and foremost, and there is very little emphasis on her personal magical might.
