* Comments: Relatively Absent is both an excellent example and an excellent subversion of the FukuFic. Sadly, it's also a DeadFic.
** Not just dead but also permanently removed from the internet with Togashi Gaijin's departure from the fanfiction business in Summer 2009. Some attempts at providing copies of the fic have been met with personal requests to cease from TG himself. Apparently a Keep Circulating the Tapes mentality is required here; good luck and good hunting, tropers.
*** This troper was sort of a beta reader for [=RelAbs=], and one of the most prolific commenters, and kept up a dialogue with Mark while it was still being written. When Mark made his decision to pull it entirely, this troper argued the point at length, and ultimately came to the conclusion that the author is a complete asshole. This revelation more or less sours any desire to see this excellent story continue -- a moot point, since it's gone forever at this point.

* Comments: Honestly, I'm amazed at how much I liked this one considering how many reasons it gave me to hate it with a passion. The author kills off my favorite SailorMoon character in the backstory and hands her powers to a character I was neutral-at-best towards when I first read it; worse still, the S Season goes DarkerAndEdgier in style, complete with BodyHorror, YouCantFightFate, huge numbers of civilian casualties, a brief appearance by Azathoth and a fight scene between the Senshi and . But it's also amazingly written, Ranma's struggle to ScrewDestiny and not destroy the world is about as compelling as such plots get, and ultimately it still comes down fairly solidly on the idealistic side of the Sliding Scale despite being caught somewhere between CosmicHorrorStory and LovecraftLite. While I usually despise SailorMoon fics that get DarkerAndEdgier to this degree, I have to give this one a recommendation simply because I can't bring myself to hate it.

**** ShayGuy: I don't recall hating it so much as just dismissing it as a CookieCutterFic employing the general-media equivalent of RatedMForMoney (s/revenue/eyeballs, of course) with a flimsy alternate-universe explanation. But I just want to say...does it even have to be explained that "good stories are entertaining" is an oversimplification? AngstAversion notwithstanding, plenty of genuinely great works are not what I'd call enjoyable to consume. That, of course, does not imply that OACDYCSF is one of them.

** ShayGuy: Note that due to the branching, collaborative nature of the site, the linked page, despite being the first marked "Dungeon Keeper Ami" and second posted by Pusakuronu, is not the first in the story; that would be this post, written nearly five years earlier. Also, the linked post has multiple options available; the "canon" choice is 'As above, but "Where did these bug-eyed things come from?"' (For all successive pages, just click the option in bold text; as of this writing, there's one other fork, and someone might post more, but just backtrack whenever you see anyone else's username.)

** @/LooneyToons: Enthusiastically seconded. This series is loaded with Crowning Moments of Funny -- especially the cartoons. And Shadowjack's interpretations of the characters add a whole new perspective to the show. I'm particularly fond of Fiery!Latina!Rei (complete with Spanish punctuation marks for her speech), but his recent "behind the scenes" look at Minako added an entirely-too-reasonable depth to her personality, while still making me laugh out loud.

* Comments: Not only does this contain many, many hilarious riffs on the source material (though Shadowjack is by no means incapable of drama when the situation calls for it), but on occasion, it actually surpasses it. One of the best features is that Shadowjack started with almost no knowledge of Sailor Moon canon or fanworks, and his interpretation is thus entirely free of the fanon that's been built up around the series -- leaving him and the other [=RPGnet=] forumites free to come up with entirely new fanon. (Example: Naru's mother being .) As of August 2010, SJ's reached the end of R; the posted pages can link you to individual recaps, but for the full experience, it's best to read the forum threads in their entirety to follow along with the conversation -- yes, even with well over 4,000 posts.

* Synopsis: Part one of a trilogy involving Sailor Moon and the Predators (and the Aliens in the second part). This story starts off a bloody chapter in Sailor Moon's life as she and her friends gets entangled with Predators and Aliens in this three-part-story.
* Comments: Extremely well written and reflects accurately to the lore of both Sailor Moon and Predators and Aliens. Even though the entire trilogy is novel length, it manages to hook you in for the ride.
