* ''Comments'': Simply amazing. At the time I'm writing this, it's incomplete, but it's still a very good fanfic. It does deal with Dark Dawn spoilers, be warned. Very well-written and enjoyable, especially if you already support Stormshipping.

* ''Comments'': It's an impressive story that takes a perpendicular route on romance. Rather than focus on the building of a relationship between two characters, this story is breaking apart the bond Matthew and Sveta have. A few moments are choppy or uncertain, but overall this story truly shines in its originality and pacing. There isn't any nonsense here. The plot and characterization is the focus. The OC villains are believable and entertaining, never forced or extravagant. It's a DarkFic, definitely, but well worth your time.

* ''Comments'': This is really nice, really relaxed one-shot piece which takes place post-DD - so naturally there are spoilers. The story does a really good job of keeping Matthew and Sveta both in-character despite limitations, and makes a hilarious situation in a realistic manner between them (also a case of ShownTheirWork regarding heavy armour, as a side note...) Plus it's nice and fluffy while striking a decent balance between innocence and maturity - from both a storytelling and character-based perspective. Quite an enjoyable read.

* ''Comments'': A very long story, currently at 21 chapters. Though the focus is obviously Valeshipping, Lighthouse, Steam, and even Imil shipping are all explored and elaborated and the romantic tension amongst all pairs is very well done. The plot and action is astounding as well. Though he does add a few [=OCs=], flashgunner has taken to [[AscendedExtra ascending extras]] such as the bonus bosses to add a remarkably in-depth plot involving the Philosopher's Stone and it's origins. Definitely worth a read.

* ''Comments'': Technically it's a shipping fic, but also features plenty of adventuring and could easily double as Golden Sun 3.5 (not 4 because it doesn't feature Alex, Sheba, Amiti, Eoleo, and Himi). The story employs a copious amount of self awareness and game mechanics (such as the Warriors Of Vale frequently talking about how absurdly powerful they are compared to others, and lampshade hanging in regards to having to solve puzzles), along with its fair share of twists and turns. Also prominent are the author's notes sections at the end of each chapter, where jolly answers reviewer questions and gives insights into his thinking process (and tells you when he decides to go back and rewrite chapters for improvement). Finally, characters who never had much development in the games (ie Mia and Rief) are given personalities here, and it's definitely for the better.

* ''Comments'': As a fervent Mudshipper, the release of ''VideoGame/GoldenSunDarkDawn'' drew me into a very painful position - my favourite pairing being canon would mean removing the new protagonists from existence, and I was much too fond of Isaac and Rief (and heck, even Nowell) to do that. I knew there was no way to deny Jenna being Matthew's mother, yet I couldn't think of any way ''Dark Dark'' canon could comply with the Isaac/Mia ship as well. This fic changed that. Gravaja Umbros has devised a clever, well thought-out and carefully constructed solution to the shipping problems of myself and others which (for now at least) is very much canon-compliant and yet prevents us from needing to remove the SpinOffspring from the equation at all. That, combined with an effective narrative style and exposition, makes for a thought-provoking, emotively-satisfying, fulfilling, and {{Squee}}-worthy read. It's only a one-shot, but very powerful. If you are a fan of Mudshipping, the second ''VideoGame/GoldenSun'' generation ''and'' Spiritshipping, then this fic is a definite must-read.

* ''Comments'': a fic that was posted back in 2002, before The Lost Age came out and way before Dark Dawn came out placing it squarely in "non-canon" territory but is still good regardless. The plot follows Isaac's group past the Venus Lighthouse. Isaac and Mia are together before the start of the story after Isaac saved Mia's life from the collapsing lighthouse. The author posted four sequels, two of them diving into the relationship between the other characters:

* ''Comments'': Pretty much what the summary says, this is a (not-so-)short, yet nonetheless very sweet one-shot fic focusing on two of the most interesting characters in "GS:DD". Without resorting to cliches, the author constructs a nice little SliceOfLife scenario which could concievably occur within the game's storyline, and makes for some pretty believable stuff considering the characters it focuses on. Fluffy most of the way - with some potential NightmareFuel and mild cussing thrown in - it's a refreshing change of pace from the usual fare. In particular, the fic makes no effort to hide that Eoleo is a ''pirate'' - the gruffness in his portrayal may be surprising. And just ''try'' to look at Himi as a FlatCharacter after seeing the enormous potential for Woobie-ism this fic provides ... I dare you.

* ''Comments'': Similar to ''[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6045701/1/Goodness Goodness]]'' above, this one-shot story takes a good long look at the complex morality of the {{Anti Villain}}s of ''VideoGame/GoldenSun'' - focusing specifically on Menardi, through the eyes of Jenna. The interaction between the two females is very intriguing and unique, and feels very In-Character for Jenna - simultaneously, the fic provides some nice characterisation for [[TheDragon Menardi]], making her deeper than the fandom-perceived simplicities of 'Saturos's partner' and 'Karst's sister'. Those details - coupled with the author's refusal to sugar-coat the Proxians' (and [[DracoInLeatherPants Alex's]]) capacity for arrogance and cruelty despite their [[WellIntentionedExtremist intentions]] - makes for a worthy, if quick, read to be found.

* ''Comments'': Feonyx's writing has a lot going for it: he lists TerryPratchett as one of his influences, and it shows. His prose style is quick and witty, the dialogue snappy, and the plot excellent. Rather {{troperiffic}}, too, as appropriate for a Pterry fan. At eleven chapters, it's a fair-sized read, but it's worth it all the way. The characterization does diverge slightly from what's found in the original games, but in this case it's definitely a good thing, considering the relative paucity of characterization within the games themselves. Additionally, fair warning: there is some romance between Isaac and Mia, and Garet and Jenna, but it's not a central element of the story (which was written long before ''Dark Dawn'' was released). Check out his other fics, too. His writing is extremely enjoyable.

* ''Comments'': Obviously, if you're not a [[IdiosyncraticShipNaming Mudshipper]], this may not appeal to you as much, but even so, give this a chance; the conversations between the characters are incredibly realistic and extremely well-written and compelling. The story is engaging throughout and [=TheOneAndOnlyT=] really takes the time to develop the characters so that they really have a natural ''voice'', sometimes to the point of BetterThanCanon, and the romance - the crux of the entire story, of course - is developed so naturally that that's why I feel confident recommending it to even non-Mudshippers. A superb piece of work all-around. It's long and wordy at 16 chapters of moderate-to-heavy-sized length, but it's definitely worth an afternoon.
** CaellachTigerEye: Seconded - and finally someone took the initiative to add this (would've got off my own backside earlier if I was less lazy ...) This story is really quite lovely and well-written, possessing a strong voice and deep descriptive narrative. The characters are really wonderful - while the game did make their personalities evident, this story is commendable for developing a true {{Nakama}} among Isaac, Mia, Garet and Ivan. The focus is on interpersonal relationships, but the author still devotes some precious time to parallel the events with the main storyline and battles. In addition, the drama is produced in a manner which develops the characters without making anything feel forced - even the romance is written in a way that's sweet, while not forcing its viewpoint down one's throat. It's not surprising that this story is a reputable gem among the VideoGame/GoldenSun fandom. If one is a Mudshipper - or has an open mind about shipping - then it's definitely worth your time reading.
** {{Tropers/hnd03}}: Despite this troper being a strict Valeshipper, this fic is extremely well-written and makes the relationship reasonable and feasible.

* ''Comments'': This is a crack fic through and through, and thus perfect when you just want a good chuckle. There are some mentions of the characters being paired off, but any romance is played for laughs (such as Mia's babydaddy woes in the fourth chapter). Joker's Specter is great at writing silly situations in a believable manner.

* ''Comments'': Set during the events of "Dark Dawn", this fic takes a close examination at the characters and the way they struggle to find a way to cope after [[spoiler: the Grave Eclipse happens]]. It largely succeeds, too - for many of them, their feelings regarding the sudden shift in their situation are believable; and the fight scenes are really well-depicted and plausible. It really makes you feel for the characters, fleshing them out beyond their game appearances and making them feel like real people. Despite the overall melancholic tone, the themes of the story are optimistic - and despite its novella-length, the story rolls in enough [[CrowningMomentOfHeartwarming CMoH]], [[CrowningMomentOfAwesome CMoA]], TearJerker and ''even'' [[CrowningMomentOfFunny CMoF]] to make the piece really powerful and uplifting, especially in the closing paragraphs. Definitely worth a look.

* ''Comments'': A really entertaining ficlet where our favourite HeterosexualLifePartners manage to turn a grim situation into a light-hearted one. The story manages to throw in the typical, expected banter, while still keeping within context and In-Character. Even the MoodWhiplash - which turns a seemingly-serious piece into a comedic one - is realistic.

* ''Comments'': This is a serious story that does a good job expanding on what Felix might have felt while traveling with the Proxians and gives depth and complexity to Saturos and Menardi. It's short but packs a good impact.
