* CanonDiscontinuity: Yeah, those V-tamer crossovers with other entries in the franchise had to be ignored. [[spoiler: Actually, two of them are used for this plot.]]

* DarkIsNotEvil: Pal and Pul are brother and sister Demidevimon who are not evil. (really Petitmamon, which was not in the V-pets and not even given a name until V-tamer was finished, so they are simply called Demidevimon [[CallASmeerpARabbit because it is the closet relative to their species]])

* EarlyBirdCameo: [[Anime/DigimonAdventure02 Davis and Jun Motomiya]] are imprisoned with Kari at the convention center when Myotismon is taking everyone hostage.

* GogglesDoNothing: Subverted. As in V Tamers Tai uses them while his partner is flying. [[spoiler: They are also used in a plan to deliver Kari her [[PlotDevice Digivice]] mid-battle.]]

** Chuumon attempts to protect Mimi and Izzy from [[spoiler:The Dark Ocean, and is dragged beneath it for his troubles. The shock of this causes Mimi to overcome its influence and allow her and Palmon to Biomerge into Rosemon]].

* KeepingSecretsSucks[=\=]TheyreCalledPersonalIssuesForAReason: Tai does not tell everyone that he has been to the Digital World before, and spends most of the time through the Etemon arc internally moaning about where everything he is used to has gone. [[spoiler: The reason why he didn't tell the others is because the events of V Tamers have left him with trust issues. After [[TheLancer Neo]] shoves this in his face, Tai decides to tell the rest of the group after the problems with Myotismon are done.]]

** On a similar note, Tai discovers Kari's Digivice during his TenMinuteRetirement and accidentally takes it with him. He also sets up a meeting with the other V Tamers meaning that he's in Shibuya (as are Matt and TK for other reasons) when the rest of the Digidestined find out the consequences of Myotismon going OffTheRails.

* RapidFireTyping: Neo and Sigma now have Izzy to rival them

* {{Retcon}}: Some minor changes were made to get the plots of V-tamer and Adventure in sync, such as getting Zero to the ocean much sooner on the V-tamer side and Tai's expanded friend network on the Adventure side. [[spoiler: Hideto was apparently lying when he lectured Taichi and Zero about ancient types.]]

* TacticalRockPaperScissors: The Virus-Vaccine-Data triangle is used to a greater degree than either V-tamer or Adventure. Level still trumps attribute though...[[spoiler:and they both mean less to Angemon.]]
* TakeAThirdOption: When you can't get to Odiba because the bridge has collapsed and the waters are too full of enemies to swim, not that Greymon are great swimmers anyway, and flying in would only get you noticed and mean you have to fight of an entire army at once... * WrongGenreSavvy: While Tai's experience does prove useful more often than not, V-tamer and Adventure are two very different things, so not all of his experiences are relevant. * YearInsideHourOutside: Specifically, two thousand years in the Digital Word approximate to one year in the Real World.

* CallForward: It turned out to be very fortunate that Taichi and Zeromaru met some of the soldiers--a Greymon, a Tyrannomon, and a Centarumon--that Leo had trained. Becuase they mention that they had all been Agumon, Tai is later able to figure out that the Agumon card is the False Gate Card when the Digidestined are trying to get back home.

* MythologyGag: Koromon are not known for their bowel control.

The Dark Master is so stunned at this, he doesn't even attempt to fight back when they're firing their final attacks.

* PaintingTheMedium: All of Machinedramon's dialogue is written in bold-type.

* WhatTheHellHero: Tai gets this when his actions cause Agumon to become so desperate to please him that he tries to fight Etemon's Greymon on his own.

* HoistbyHisOwnPetard: Given the nature of his floating, homing attacks that surge towards enemies on command, [[spoiler: Piedmon]] is defeated when he utilizes his attack and is unaware that he was positioned directly in between his attack and his enemy. [[spoiler: Sigma's Piedmon had been defeated by the same attack, though in that case Tai tricked Sigma into instructing that Piedmon warp his swords into his own position and defeat himself.]]

* BackFromTheDead: Myotismon has done this at least three times, once in V-Tamer, the second time when he first appears in this story, and the third when he uses the prophecy to digivolve himself into [[spoiler:Malo Myotismon]].

* DisproportionateRetribution: Granted that Tai may have killed Myotismon when seeking the [[McGuffin Tag of Illusions]] during his first trip in the Digital World, but his rage is so great towards Tai that his hated sustains his life force for over two thousand years in the Dark Area. Not only that, but he pleasantly goes out of his way in his attempt to make Tai suffer simply to break the look of defiance that Tai had in his eyes. Also counts as MisplacedRetribution towards Gatomon, whom he punishes and abuses simply for having the same look in her eyes.

** Machinedramon

* BigDamnHeroes: Quite a few times though Zudomon in particular seems to be made of this. [[spoiler: Garurumon saving Hiroaki from a Digimon.]]
