* AdaptationalContextChange: Naofumi still ends up buying Raphtalia from the slave trader. However, instead of buying her because she was the cheapest option as in canon, he's utterly aghast upon finding her in her cell and only buys her at all because he isn't strong enough yet to kill the slave trader right then and there and break her out. Raphtalia being branded with a slave seal is also PlayedForDrama here as Naofumi curses himself for not having any other viable option to free her while probably struggling not to wince at her pain from the slave seal, and while prose isn't conducive to background music, whatever the background track would be here if this were an actual stage production or anime would most certainly NOT be the cheery, bouncy music that plays over the canon counterpart of this scene in the anime.

* HundredPercentHeroismRating: Filo, at least among her companions. She gets along well with the rest of her party and doesn't partake in the ideological arguments that often occur between Naofumi or Raphtalia and Melty. [[spoiler:In the dramatis personae section of Chapter 28, she's even the only one to not be labeled a "suspected traitor to the revolution."]]

* AdaptationalRomanceDowngrade: None of the source material's harem elements are present in this continuity. Most notably, Raphtalia and Naofumi's relationship is now completely platonic, with Raphtalia being Naofumi's right-hand woman, pupil, and friend rather than a love interest.

** Raphtalia is older than her canon self, being an adult from the get-go.

* AdaptationalNationality: [[ImpliedTrope Implied]]. While Naofumi is still ethnic Japanese in this continuity, it's not made clear whether he lived in Japan prior to the beginning of the story. However, at different points in the story, he hums American socialist songs such as [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E5Ll51kcbjo Hallelujah, I'm A Bum]] and [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mok_2xZ8iLU Solidarity Forever]], which may indicate he is from the USA (or at least an Anglophone country).
