** Also played straight with the Empire.. The Efror Guard are noted for not having any firearms or crossbows and are equipped with chainmail and kite shields rather than the breastplates more commonly seen on Empire State Troops. Makes sense as they aren't state troops, they are the personal guard of a minor noble who has to fund their equipment out of pocket.

* {{Flynning}}: Subverted during Solin and Sigismund's duel. They spend a period of time adjusting stances before trying to strike, the blades meet and then while locked in a bind the pair go back to adjusting their stances to outmanoeuvre each other rather than the typical attempt to overpower the other. The fight ends when Solin uses his tail to strike Sigismund and then headbutts him. After the stance-to-stance combat, the fight lasts little over four seconds.

Added DiffLines:

* {{Red is Heroic}}: The Legion wear redcoats as their uniform. Even those who don't are wearing red tunics under their outwear.

* {{British Humour}}: It's a Saurus thing. Solin delivers a watered down version of the French Knight's taunts from ''Film/MontyPythonsFlyingCircus'' to a Chaos warrior. Later, Mort gives a modified version of the refusal to surrender from {{Film/A Bridge Too Far}} to the same Chaos warrior.

* {{Anachronism Stew}}: Subverted. The author has stated in a comment that while they were concerned about the British redcoats being too modern to include, they chose to have the Legion wear them after learning that the redcoats were first worn as uniforms in the 1500's.
** Played straight with the Chameleon skirmishers, who wear the uniform of the 95th Rifles. The author deemed it an acceptable pass.

** In a later chapter Mort quotes {{Film/A Bridge Too Far}} in response to the offer of surrender. This is apparently standard Saurus humor according to Sharpe.

'''Official summary:''' There is a mercenary company roaming the land. An entire legion of sellswords, but they don't ask for coin, typically. No, they ask for knowledge of events, even if only in the form of rumours, they ask for raw materials, and they ask for use of facilities with which to work those materials. In that order of preference.

They are armed. They are professional. They are... lizardmen?

A ''{{TabletopGame/Warhammer}}'' {{Fanfic}} written by [[https://archiveofourown.org/users/J_Logan/pseuds/J_Logan J.Logan]] focusing on a band of Lizardmen who dress as humans and are perfectly willing to use gunpowder weapons while they travel around the Old World acting like mercenaries, getting into conflict with Undead, Skaven and various Chaos forces. Initially intended to be a series of one-shots, the author quickly turned the concept into a single long story that is still in-progress.

----
!! This fanfic provides examples of the following tropes:

* {{BFS}}: Solin uses a zweihänder that is sized proportionately to his Saurus stature.
* {{Expy}}:
**One of the very first characters of the Legion we’re introduced to is a Chameleon Skink called {{Series/Sharpe}}. Just to drive home the point, the Chameleon Skinks are wearing green uniforms instead of red coats.
**One of the Chameleons under Sharpe is called Happy, and in the chapter where he was a focus character he was using an Empire Repeater Handgun. Remind you of Sergeant Harper and his Nock gun by chance?
* {{Foreshadowing}}: A post-humous character spoke of seeing world's ending and being replaced by armies of gold. {{Word of God}} has already said that the [[https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/TabletopGame/WarhammerTheEndTimes The End Times]] are the canon they're following.
* {{Meaningful Name}}: The Outland Legion. They don't call themselves a legion because of how it sounds, they are a legion by the Tilean definition. They number at about four thousand strong.
* {{Not So Above It All}}: The narration during Mort's introduction suggests that he is annoyed at how much the Legion has conformed to warm-blood behaviours. Then Marshal Ingwel'tonl makes a jest at his expense, and his response is to give the two-fingered salute.
**In a later chapter Mort quotes {{Film/A Bridge Too Far}} in response to the offer of surrender. This is apparently standard Saurus humor according to Sharpe.
* {{Running Gag}}: They are '''not''' Lustrian, they are ''Madrigallian''. The Legion are tired of constantly being identified as Lustrian.
