* Lilliputians: Unlike the current canon of Steven Universe [as of April 2015], The Harvester contains many classes of tiny 'micro Gems', which usually stand around six to eight inches tall. These Gems either work alongside regular Gems, or hide from them like borrowers.

* YourDaysAreNumbered: [[spoiler:The Hematites]] are acutely aware that their clocks are ticking, because of [[spoiler:a flaw in their genetic coding.]]

* Sizeshifter: All of the Hematites have size-shifting abilities. They can get as small as a few inches tall, and as big as 300 feet, in 'Big Guy's' case. This shifting is dictated by energy levels in their forms. They shrink down when tired-out. Mago's size shifting is reversed, where she has to be big when tired, and shrinking takes up energy. Sometimes the size shifting 'breaks' if a Hematite is emotionally compromised or stressed-out. Hematites also have special rules where they can shape shift longer than normal Gems.

* AllLovingHero: Hema, even in the face of adversities like [[spoiler:eventual corruption]] and [[spoiler:Yellow Diamond's]] physical and mental abuse, tries to be optimistic and give people second chances. He tries to see the good in people. Though, his brief moments of [[spoiler:sadism]], and his job position can sometimes break this ever-present desire to be kind and caring.
* BadDreams: Yellow Diamond and Hema have these on occasion. Both of them think that they are going to be hurt by each other further. Yellow's come from a place of fear of Hema, while Hema's come from his fear of [[spoiler:Yellow and/or his eventual corruption]].

* BestServedCold: After [[spoiler:losing their loved one to the main character]], one of the prominent characters seeks revenge against them to see them pay for their perceived 'crime.'
* BewareTheNiceOnes: [[spoiler:Hema]] is generally a very emotionally patient, forgiving Gem when it's beat into them that they deserve the abuses tossed at them. However, they have reached their boiling point more than once, which resulted in them attacking Gems they shouldn't, including one of their superiors, and a rather passionate rant against another superior later on. Their rage is particularly frightening, because it's rare they actually get angry enough to snap.
* BitchInSheepsClothing: [[spoiler:Ti]] begins as a sweet, understanding, calm character on the outside, but they quickly start showing their true colors by breaking up with [[spoiler:Mago]] for seemingly little reason, running off to immediately woo another Gem, being very temperamental with them at little slights (such as being unable to train with them in [[spoiler:'Black and White']]), and even going so far as to call [[spoiler:Mago]] 'defective,' and trying to mentally scar [[spoiler:Morganite during 'Afraid of the Dark']].

* BruiserWithASoftCenter: [[spoiler:Meta]] is feared by almost all Gems, but she is clearly seen to have a soft, emotional side when it comes to certain things like her significant other. She also shows a fear of hurting smaller Gems with her brute, uncontrolled strength. Her toughness and hard outer shell are so well-known that many even believe she never cries.
* CassandraTruth: Because of the events of arc 4, [[spoiler:Hema]] is seen to be irrefutably guilty of [[spoiler:cracking White Diamond]], no matter how much they tell the Diamonds they're innocent. To everyone else, there's no-one else it could possibly be, so they don't believe them, even when they tell as much of the truth as they can. Leads to the ClearMyName trope.
* ClearMyName: [[spoiler:Hema]] tries to clear their guilt after being accused of trying to [[spoiler:murder White Diamond]]. They are painted as a traitor and a monster by their superiors, even [[spoiler:White Diamond]], who seemed to trust them against all odds, before their name was sullied.
* TheConspiracy: There's a plan going on behind the Diamonds' backs to get [[spoiler:Hema]] executed, one way or another. This plan spans [[spoiler:General Topaz]] and a small group of their soldiers that are sworn to secrecy, even at the cost of their lives.
* ConsummateLiar: [[spoiler:General Topaz]] is incredibly skilled at lying, even so much as to be compared to Yellow Diamond, who never lies if she can help it. [[spoiler:She]] often tells half-truths or words things in a way that are never seen as outright lies.
* ConvenientlyTimedAttackFromBehind: White Diamond is attacked from behind while an ear-splitting sound distracts and immobilizes her in [[spoiler:'According to Plan']].
* DeadpanSnarker: Rubes and Meta both have a tendency to bluntly or sarcastically point out when someone is being stupid, and Rubes will not hesitate to sharply point out the flaws in someone's logic or story, and will call them out on their bullshit in a very dry manner.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: [[spoiler:General Topaz]] had [[spoiler:Beryl]] until she was killed, which became their motive for revenge.
* FrameUp: [[spoiler:General Topaz]] pulls one of these against [[spoiler:Hema]] after their plans to have them shattered another way go askew.
* GentleGiant: While many of the Hematites could fall under this, as of chapter 77, Hema is the best example. Hema is particularly careful with smaller Gems when they're not his targets, and shows precise physical caution, even when at giant sizes. * AbandonedArea: After [[spoiler:Pink Diamond/Rose Quartz's betrayal of Homeworld]], the Pink District is abandoned. Plant life is taking over and buildings are falling apart, and the entire place is teeming with gem monsters- making for a very unsettling atmosphere at times.

* FrameUp: General Topaz pulls one of these against Hema after [[spoiler:he shattered Beryl twelve years ago]].

* BestServedCold: After [[spoiler:losing their loved one to the main character]], one of the prominent characters seeks revenge against [[spoiler:him]] to see [[spoiler:him]] pay for his perceived 'crime.'

* ClearMyName: Hema tries to clear his name after [[spoiler:being accused of trying to murder White Diamond]].
* TheConspiracy: Two are most prominent. The first one was when [[spoiler:Hema was targeted by Diaspore and an unknown Gem]]. The second one was when [[spoiler:Hema was targeted by Diaspore's superior officer, General Topaz, who planned to frame him with the help of some underlings (such as Emerald) in order to put him on trial and have him executed]].

* GentleGiant: While many of the Hematites could fall under this, as of chapter 77, [[spoiler:Hema]] is the best example. [[spoiler:Hema]] is particularly careful with smaller gems when they're not [[spoiler:his]] targets, and shows precise physical caution, even when at giant sizes.
* HitmanWithAHeart: Hematite is, as a harvester, a sort of 'hitman,' or 'assassin,' against rebels. However, his tendency to be gentle with smaller gems often gets in the way of his job.
* ImaginaryEnemy: Hema is this to Yellow Diamond because [[spoiler:she's afraid he'd attack her again in retaliation for her treatment of him, like he did once]].

* WeNeedToGetProof: Blue Diamond and Jasper do this on behalf of Hema when [[spoiler:he is put on trial as a result of Topaz framing him for the crimes he didn't commit]] by [[spoiler:bringing out Emerald as proof that he was framed and didn't actually commit these crimes]].

* AllLovingHero: Hema, as he tries to be gentle with everyone, including his targets, unless they or anyone else try to harm/kill him or his friends.
* BadDreams: Yellow Diamond and Hema have these on occasion. [[spoiler:Both of them think that they are going to be hurt by each other further. Yellow Diamond is afraid of Hema harming her and Hema is afraid of Yellow Diamond hurting him. These fears manifest as nightmares]].
* BadLiar: The two unnamed Gems who [[spoiler:try to attack Hema at the bar]]. [[spoiler: They try to turn this around and say that it was he who attacked them, even though the bar owner overheard their chat about how much they dislike Hema]] They are quickly found out. [[spoiler: Axinite is also a bad liar, trying to sell that he was just hiding from the friend, even though there's plenty of evidence that this is obviously not the case]].
* BestServedCold: General Topaz has been planning revenge against Hema for quite a while.

* BewareTheNiceOnes: [[spoiler:Hema]] is generally a very emotionally patient, forgiving gem when it's beat into [[spoiler:him]] that he deserves the abuses tossed at him. However, [[spoiler:he]] has reached [[spoiler:his]] boiling point more than once, which resulted in [[spoiler:him attacking Yellow in 'The Incident,' going off on Yellow in 'Perspective,' and his rage against General Topaz in 'Hunted']]. [[spoiler:Hema's]] rage is particularly scary because it's rare [[spoiler:he]] actually gets angry enough to snap.
