Written by [=BigD1987=], ''Power Rangers GPX'' is an original ''Franchise/PowerRangers'' fic described as "Power Rangers on PowerMetal and infused with realism, some slight parody and LampshadeHanging, with some ''[[TengenToppaGurrenLagann Gurren Lagann]]'' added to the mix. And ''Anime/SailorMoon'' villains. And maybe, a little social commentary."

* DarkerAndEdgier: GurrenLagann-level awesomeness aside, this story goes places regular ''Franchise/PowerRangers'' wouldn't ''dare'' touch, not even ''[[Series/PowerRangersInSpace in Space]]'' or ''[[Series/PowerRangersRPM RPM]]'' will go (say, threatening to ''level an entire country'' just to smoke out ''two Rangers'', for one). Hell, the acknowledgement the Rangers are trying to prevent ''planetary genocide'' is a good indication this is different. ''Supercharged'' and ''SIU'' also take it pretty far. ''SIU'' is probably the darkest out of either continuity, having the highest body count of any of them.

* BadassBoast: ''[[TengenToppaGurrenLagann "Who the hell do you think we are?!"]]''

* ColorCodedForYourConvenience: Played straight and given a good LampshadeHanging every now and then. Usually, the Rangers wear sports gear in their respective colors (Sean wears Blackhawks and Bulls, Maria wears Brazil soccer, Kevin wears Dublin GAA and Manchester United, Ritchie wears Milwaukee Brewers, Green Bay Packers and later Boston Bruins[because the sight of Packers colors angers Sean]). Occasionally, they'll deviate from these, although the Wisconsin hockey unis probably don't count.

* A revision of Episode 2 made Sean yell out "[[Series/That70sShow HELLO WISCONSIN!!!]]"

* AmericansAreCowboys: Discussed and averted by the city-slicker Sean.

* PsychoRangers: [[spoiler: Turelie, Phaedos, Tirna, Floki and another elf officer morph into Series/KamenRider-like suits.]]

* EnergyWeapon: Inspired by Loki's staff in ''Film/TheAvengers''.

* MagicStaff / MagicWand: The weapons used by the elves are pretty much this, although ClarkesThirdLaw applies here. It's inspired by Loki's staff in ''Film/TheAvengers''.

* AllWebbedUp: Poor Ritchie--and about 4 other guys--end up on the wrong end of this from a spider woman.

* BlessedAreTheCheesemakers: They're in Wisconsin. The jokes write themselves.

** {{Disney}} even gets on the receiving end of a zinger in the final chapter... when they're ''at'' Disney World.

* OdeToJoy: Is there any better piece of music to trigger a [[spoiler: HeelFaceTurn]]? We didn't think so.

* OurElvesAreBetter: WordOfGod says they were inspired by ''Film/ThorTheDarkWorld''. They're also inspired by NorseMythology and Creator/JRRTolkien's elves. Although given their nature as antagonist, may be more ScrewYouElves. They also get a DoingInTheWizard treatment, losing their immortality and magic, but it's made up for with a longer lifespan, ClarkesThirdLaw-invoking technology and a more realistic ethereal nature.

** Dr. Mike Nelson. Come on, it's [[MysteryScienceTheater3000 obvious!]]

* AmericanAccents: [[DiscussedTrope Discussed]] in one chapter. One of the characters notes how much MinnesotaNice sounds like a [[CanadaEh Canadian accent]], which has Sean talk about how the accents relate to their given stereotypes in media. He then does his own [[Series/SaturdayNightLive "Superfans"]] imitation, which one character has trouble understanding.

** [[Wrestling/TheRock "IF YA SMEEEEEELLLLLLALALALALALA WHAT THE RANGERS! ARE! COOKIN!"]]

** Episode 42 is a relative one, compared to the 10 feels-inducing previous chapters, which has SnarkToSnarkCombat over baseball, cheese, and otter puns. [[spoiler: And character development on Eruvanda's part.]]
