* EvilCannotComprehendGood: Shimano fancies himself a ManipulativeBastard as he tried to exploit what he thought was Majima'sfeelings for Makoto to get the Empty Lot. The thing is, Shimano thinks that love is the same as lust, that fear is the same as respect, and that force is the same as strength. In other words, he has no idea that the reason Majima stays in the Clan isn't because he fears Shimano and Sagawa, but because he's loyal to Taiga who is still in prison.

When Sawada Tsunayoshi goes to middle school, his life changes dramatically in two ways. First, the baseball coach actually supports him. Second, a baby told him he has to become a mafia boss. The coach takes an issue with that.

Did we mention the coach's name is Majima Goro?

''[[https://archiveofourown.org/series/2784511 Gone Batty]]'' is a series of ''VideoGame/LikeADragon'' and ''Manga/Reborn2004'' {{crossover}} fics written by [[https://archiveofourown.org/users/Sefiru/pseuds/Sefiru Sefiru]], and is an AlternateUniverseFic diverging after the events of ''VideoGame/YakuzaKiwami2''.

The series is made up of one shots taking place in anachronistic order. The parts are as follows:

!!The series contains examples of these tropes:

[[foldercontrol]]

[[folder:General]]
* AdaptationalBadass: Overlapping with CrossoverPowerAcquisition, several ''Yakuza'' characters have Dying Will Flames on top of already being monsters in combat.
** [[spoiler:Tachibana]] is a Sky.
** [[spoiler:Oda]] is a Storm.
** [[spoiler:Makoto]] is a Sun.
** Kiryu is a Lightning.
** [[spoiler:Saejima]] is a Rain.
** Majima is a primary Mist with a secondary Cloud.
** Sera was a Cloud.
** According to WordOfGod, Kazama was a Rain.
* AdaptationalGenderIdentity: In canon, Majima is a cis male. In this fic, Majima is genderfluid, with Goromi being the name she uses when presenting as female.
* AdaptationalJobChange:
** On top of being in charge of a construction company like in canon, Majima also works as the baseball coach for Namimori Middle due to a staffing shortage.
** In canon, Kiryu runs an orphanage post the events of ''VideoGame/Yakuza2''. Here, he goes back to being a real estate agent.
** In canon, Makimura Makoto is a massage therapist. Here, she works as a Chinese language teacher.
* AnimalMotif: [[spoiler:Bats become the symbol of Tachibana's flame family, as both he and Oda have a bat tattoo. Especially poignant is how Makoto states that the symbol of the bat no longer holds fear for her.]]
* BigBrotherIsWatching: [[spoiler:Tachibana knows where everyone in his flame circle is at all given times, thanks to his wide information network.]]
* CharacterizingSittingPose: [[spoiler:Oda]] os always seen sitting on the floor even if there is other available seating when [[spoiler:being near Tachibana]] because of [[spoiler:how he [[MyGreatestFailure sold Tachibana's sister to a sex ring]] before meeting him]]. ''Ignition (Storm Charge)'' puts it best:
-->'''Majima:''' What's he doing on the floor?\\
'''[[spoiler:Makoto]]:''' Penance.
* {{Crossover}}: Between ''VideoGame/LikeADragon'' and ''Manga/Reborn2004''.
* GlowingEyes: Flame users can make their eyes glow the same colour as their Flame.
* GratuitousJapanese: Certain words like forms of address or some terms are spelled down in Japanese with latin characters. For example, Kiryu calling Majima "Ni-san".
* HandicappedBadass: [[spoiler:Tachibana is missing his arm and is still down two kidneys, but Majima rates him as the strongest person he knows.]]
* InSpiteOfANail: Even though [[spoiler:Tachibana and Oda both live in this verse]], all events up to and including ''VideoGame/Yakuza2'' happen as in canon. The only real difference is that Makoto never gets into a relationship with the doctor and therefore never leaves the country.
* OneShotFic: The series consists of such entries.
* SadistTeacher: Tsuna is completely and utterly ''terrified'' of Reborn, who has absolutely no regard for Tsuna's wishes and withholds a ton of important information from him.
* SelectiveObliviousness: Reborn chooses not to do any research on the Yakuza because he's comfortable in the knowledge that he's the [[RedBaron World's Greatest Hitman]]. This comes to bite him in the ass a number of times.
* SparedByTheAdaptation: [[spoiler:Tachibana Tetsu and Jun Oda both survived the events of ''VideoGame/Yakuza0''.]]
* SwitchingPOV: The one-shots all change points of view several times, even though they maintain a third person perspective throughout. Notably it never switches to Reborn's.
* TraumaticSuperpowerAwakening: Trauma - usually of the NearDeathExperience kind - is absolutely required for activating Dying Will Flames; unless the one doing the activating is a Sun, as Sun Flames have the activation property. One of the biggest reasons Majima and Kiryu are pissed at the Mafia in general is because of the presence of Flame-active ''children''.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:A Bat out of Hell]]
* AdaptationalModesty: Downplayed; Majima actually wears a shirt (an indigo one) when dealing with students, but he still goes shirtless when off the clock.
* AdaptationalRelationshipOverhaul:
** In canon, Tsuna and Takeshi first talked in the latter's debut chapter and were merely aware of each other's existence first, being classmates. In this fic, while not incredibly close they are childhood friends and grow closer from there.
** The Varia are frequent customers to Yamamoto Tsuyoshi's restaurant. In canon, they have never been to Namimori prior to the Ring Battles.
* BloodKnight: Both Hibari and Majima are extremely fond of fighting. Takeshi notes that even though Hibari is no challenge to Majima, they're both really enjoying the fight.
* CoolTeacher: Majima. He tolerates no bullying, has no problem verbally (and physically, in Hibari's case) putting anyone in their place, and checks up on Tsuna when he falls without being overbearing.
* {{Determinator}}: When one of Tsuna's bullies says that Tsuna fell twenty times trying to run a lap, Majima points out that he also ''got back up'' twenty times. However, he obviously doesn't make it to the baseball team.
* EarlyPersonalitySigns: Majima tells Tsuyoshi that Takeshi already has the eyes of a killer and won't be able to pass as a civilian for long, so he better start teaching him the blade sooner than later.
* EntertaininglyWrong: Majima grumbles that "Kiryu-chan" is better at comforting kids than him. Tsuna asks him if that's his girlfriend. Majima finds that hilarious.
-->'''Majima:''' Kiryu-chan is a rough-lookin' dude who is way too serious.
* TheForceIsStrongWithThisOne: Yamamoto Tsuyoshi is very surprised to sense powerfull Mist Flames from Majima.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: Majima wearing an indigo shirt foreshadows the reveal later in the chapter that he's a Mist Flame user.
* NoodleIncident: Majima somehow knows the Varia.
* RetiredOutlaw: Yamamoto Tsuyoshi was a hitman for the Asari Clan with the RedBaron title of Autumn Rain.
* YearsTooEarly: Hibari attempts to bite Majima to death. Majima {{No Sell}}s all his attacks and informs him that he's not ready to take him on.
-->'''Majima:''' Yer a hundred years too young to take me on, kid.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Let Sleeping Dragons Lie]]
* ArrogantKungFuGuy: Reborn expects everyone to know that he's the world's greatest hitman and doesn't care if the other people he's talking to are also considered badasses. It's to the point that he doesn't even know who Majima is, even though he has an infamous Yakuza patriarch with a ''very'' distinct appearance. [[spoiler:Majima is quick to toss him into a river for his trouble.]]
* BattleThemeMusic: Majima can create background battle music with his Flames.
* ContrivedCoincidence:
** Kiryu and Majima just so happened to find work in the same town, well away from Tokyo or Osaka.
** Tsuna just so happens to run into Kiryu while running away from Reborn.
* DeclarationOfProtection:
** Kiryu says that once anyone is under Majima's protection, he'll die before he lets anyone touch them.
** Kiryu makes his own towards Tsuna, telling him that he can call if he needs any kind of help, that being advice or a place to hide.
* DramaticIrony: Kiryu advises Tsuna that in case all else fails, Tsuna can stay as a Mafia boss just long enough to appoint a successor and then get out. The problem is, none of them know that the way inheritance in the Vongola Family works, each boss absolutely ''has'' to be blood-related to Vongola Primo (because the Vongola Rings reject everyone else), and Tsuna is the only person alive that fits the bill (exluding Tsuna's father, who can't take the spot because he leads the CEDEF). In other words, there is nobody else ''but'' Tsuna.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: Kiryu mentions that he'll be working in the local office of the Tachibana Real Estate Group. [[spoiler:This foreshadows that Tachibana is still alive.]]
* FreakOut: Alluded to (and sort of PlayedForLaughs) regarding Majima's crazy behavior.
-->'''Kiryu:''' (seeing Majima doing the hustle) Ni-san, why are you like this?\\
'''Majima:''' (sing-song voice) It's the trauma~
* ImmuneToBullets: With his Lightning Flame, Kiryu can NoSell rifle bullets.
* ImprobableAge: When Tsuna tells Kiryu and Majima that Reborn wants to train him to be a Mafia boss, Majima immediately argues that Tsuna is too young to even be a street-level recruit.
* InternalReveal: Kiryu and Majima tell Tsuna that they were both in the Yakuza (Fourth Chairman and a Patriarch respectively) and that they both got out to comfort him.
* ParentalNeglect: While Tsuna doesn't outright say it, it's clear that he doesn't count on his mother Nana to help him deal him deal with Reborn.
-->'''Kiryu:''' You can use the phone if you want to call your parents.\\
'''Tsuna:''' Well, um, my mom's kind of... Can I just sit here for a while?
* StealthPun: The author points out that the Japanese word used for the Lightning Flames' hardening property is "katai" - a word that many characters in the ''Like A Dragon'' games use to describe Kiryu.
* SuspiciouslySpecificDenial: Majima insists that Majima Construction is a perfectly legitimate business. Mostly.
* YouRemindMeOfX: Kiryu [[spoiler:and Majima]] both remark that Tsuna reminds them of Tachibana, which they find odd as they have nothing in common in terms of appearance of behavior. [[spoiler:It's because they're both Skies.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Serve the Old Way]]
* ContinuityNod: Kiryu thinks of himself as a decent dancer because not everyone can claim that [[VideoGame/Yakuza0 danced with Miracle Johnson before]].
* DanceOff: The premise of the fic is that Goromi drags Kiryu in a voguing dance contest.
* GratuitousEnglish: The announcements in the competition are all done in English - justified in that voguing was invented in Harlem.
* ImprobableHairstyleSequence: Goromi appears with natural hair falling in waves down her back... even though the day before she was sporting an undercut. It's implied it's because of [[MasterOfIllusion Mist Flames]].
* PromotedToLoveInterest: Kiryu and Majima appear to be in a romantic relationship in this fic even though Kiryu still refers to Majima as "Ni-san" ("Nee-san" as Goromi).
* TitleDrop: The crowd starts chanting "Serve the Old Way!" when Kiryu starts dancing.
* TotallyRadical:
** The guy in charge of the sign ups peppers his sentences his "nah"s and "bro"s.
** And of course there's Kiryu with his "That's rad."
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Reunion]]
* AdaptationalRelationshipOverhaul: In canon, Majima had romantic feelings for Makoto, but let her go without ever introducing himself to her to keep her away. In this verse, with her brother alive, Majima and Makoto are platonic friends and he doesn't try to push her away.
* BlatantLies: Takeshi's cover story for all the crime-related shenanigans is that they're "playing gangsters". Majima thinks he really has to talk to him about how to sell cover stories.
* BullyHunter: Tsuna spends as much time as possible in close proximity to Majima while at school, attending baseball practice even though he did not make the team, cheering on Takeshi, or doing his homework, because nobody tries to bully him when Majima is near.
* ChildSoldiers: Namedropped when Majima finds out that both I-pin and Kiryu's new charge - who are both five-year-olds - had been sent to Namimori on a hit. Majima is outraged by the concept of child soldiers.
* {{Cyborg}}: Tachibana has a new state-of-the-art robotic arm.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: Not even the Yakuza will use children for its dirty work. By contrast, the Triads and the Mafia do.
* NoodleIncident: When Kiryu arrives late to his meeting with Tachibana, he explains that he had to put the "kids" to bed. Majima asks him if he means the kid he met the other day, with no further elaboration of the incident.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: Majima is ''especially'' reverent and respectful towards Tachibana. Majima goes as far as to go full "Lord of the Night" in regards to him, dropping both the Kansai accent and the impolite vocabularly, being too hesitant to even open the collar of his shirt before him, much less go shirtless. He also calls him "Tachibana-sama" or "Sir", ''always'' capitalized; though Kiryu does the same. Majima says that the reason he's acting like that is because he's Tachibana's bitch.
* ParentalSubstitute: Kiryu decided to take in Lambo offscreen.
* YouRemindMeOfX: Majima thinks that Gokudera is like a mini version of Oda in how utterly devoted and eager to please they are.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:New Year's Gifts]]
* BigBrotherIsWatching: Throughout the nineteen years this fic covers, even though Majima and Tachibana never meet in person ([[spoiler:except for the last Christmas]]) nor are in open contact, Tachibana ''always'' knows where Majima is, what he's interested in, what worries him and what his emotional state is. The gifts are always in accordance to Majima's current state. Majima himself doesn't mind the surveillance at all, and expresses his gratefulness at the end of the fic.
* TheCameo:
** The 1992 gift is a letter of introduction to Uncle Kawahira.
** In 2000, Squalo seeks out Majima after getting a letter in a "familiar handwriting" saying that Majima likes a good fight.
* ChristmasEpisode: A variation, as this fic was not released anywhere near Christmas (it was posted on May), and instead of focusing on Christmas it focuses on New Year's. Still, the theme of the fic is the New Year's gifts Majima received from Tachibana over the years.
* ConfusionFu: Subverted. Even though Majima designed his fighting style to be as unpredictable as possible, [[spoiler:Tachibana is able to read his every move during their spar.]]
* EccentricMentor: Majima's teacher in how to use Mist Flames is Uncle Kawahira, who is described in the fic as an eccentric antiques dealer.
* ExoticWeaponSupremacy: The 2002 gift is an encyclopedia on unusual weapons from around the world. Majima immediately emplys his Mist Flames to use these weapons against ''everyone''.
* ItAmusedMe:
** The reason Majima makes a public menance of himself is so Tachibana can laugh at the headlines.
** Also the reason why Majima uses absurd Mist weapons against random people; he likes to see the reactions.
* Letters2Numbers: Makoto's online alias is [=fr00t=].
* MementoMacGuffin: The 1993 gift is one of Tachibana's antique Rolexes, as a thank you gift for repairing and returning Makoto's own MementoMacGuffin - the music box watch - to her.
* PowerFloats: [[spoiler:Majima is pretty sure that Tachibana was floating at some points during their spar.]]
* PracticalJoke: The first thing Majima does after Kiryu is sent to prison is mail him a glitter bomb.
* ResolvedNoodleIncident: The fic explains how Majima knows the Varia; Tachibana sent Squalo a letter of introduction to Majima because he knows they're both {{Blood Knight}}s and woukd enjoy a good spar.
* RingOfPower: The 2003 gift is a Flame focus ring shaped like a bat. The eyes are the Flame stones.
* SecurityBlanket: The year Kiryu goes to prison, Tachibana sends Majima a dragon plushie to comfort him.
* SeenItAll: Nishida's reaction to seeing Majima create weapons out of thin air is to just sigh. Given that he's been Majima's ButtMonkey - um, assistant - for years, who knows what the poor guy has seen.
* ShrineToTheFallen: The 1990 gift is a small Buddhist shrine containing the pictures of Lee, Nishitani, and Awano, who all sacrificed their lives to protect Majima's.
* SpontaneousWeaponCreation: Majima uses his Mist Flames to conjure, as he puts it, "All The Weapons".
* SupernaturalSensitivity: Majima can tell that the vintage Rolex he was gifted was Tachibana's thanks to the Sky Flame residue.
* VisualPun: Tachibana's 1989 gift to Majima is a Mandarin orange - in Japanese, a ''tachibana''.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Ignition (Storm Surge)]]
* TheAtoner: Enforced. Tachibana asks Makoto what she wants to do with Oda. Makoto doesn't want anyone else to die but she makes it clear she doesn't forgive Oda. However, she is willing to give him a chance at redemption. Therefore, Tachibana declares that from now on Oda will serve them to atone for his actions.
* BreakingTheFellowship: Kiryu and Majima realize that they can never get back into contact with Tachibana, Makoto, and Oda again because their mere presence puts them in danger.
* CantKillYouStillNeedYou:
** The only reason Tachibana didn't kill Oda upon finding out that he sold Makoto to a sex ring is because Oda is the only person with any information in regards to Makoto's whereabouts. However, he does indulge in ExtremeMeleeRevenge.
** Kuze did not kill Tachibana right away because he needed him alive for information. So even though he tortured the man, he made sure not to mess with his catheter.
* CommonalityConnection: Majima and Tachibana connet over both having been torture victims.
* ConMan: Shimano is repeatedly described as one by Tachibana, as he basically tries to play into Majima and Makoto's "naivety" to get the Empty Lot.
* DeclarationOfProtection:
** As per canon, Kiryu declares that if anyone touches a hair of Makoto's hair he will bury the Dojima Family. He later extends this promise to protect this family from all harm.
** Oda declares that he will destroy anything that comes close to Tachibana.
* DidntSeeThatComing: Sera grumbles that he was not expecting to have to "ride herd" to an entire new circle of Flames, even if in hindsight he really should have.
* ExpositionCut:
** Majima's explanation to Tachibana about Shimano's role in the Empty Lot incident is relegated to one line.
** Sera explains to Tachibana and his allies what Dying Will Flames are and how they work off-screen.
* FakingTheDead: Kuze spends the fic thinking that Tachibana is dead from his torture wounds, not knowing that Makoto activated her Sun Flames at the last possible second.
* FantasticallyIndifferent: Tachibana, Makoto, Kiryu, and Oda take their sudden discovery that superpowers are a thing completely in stride. Nikishi and Majima have far more appropriate reactions.
* HeelFaceTurn: In this fic, as soon as Oda found out the girl he sold to the sex ring is Tachibana's sister, instead of keeping it to himself he decides to fess up.
* {{Masquerade}}: While there are individuals with Dying Will Flames in the Yakuza, and Kuze in particular says that Kiryu has "awakened the power of a true yakuza" after revealing his own, their overall existence seems to be kept a secret even from the Yakuza itself. Basically, there are UrbanLegends about people having magic powers, and Majima specifically states that Shimano (who is a Tojo Chairman canditate and therefore a Big Deal) doesn't know about them. At the same time, Sera has no issue explaining all there is to know about Dying Will Flames to a group of people that's basically made up of civilians and street-level yakuza thugs, which implies that Dying Will Flames only get explained to those who already possess them or know they exist.
* ObfuscatingInsanity: Majima's plan for "turning the con" back on Shimano, and hide where his true loyalties lie.
-->"Majima would show him what he expected to see; he would construct such a labyrinth of madness that no one could reach the secrets of his heart."
* PoseOfSupplication: Oda keeps his knees and head on the ground the entire time he confesses to Tachibana as he can't bear to look at him in the eye.
* RedemptionEqualsDeath: Oda was absolutely certain that Tachibana would kill him as soon as he found out what he did to his sister. So he [[FaceDeathWithDignity puts on his best suit]] and decides to face him.
-->''He could stay silent, and live on as gutter scum. Or he could confess, and die as someone better.''
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: As per canon, Majima knows he can't go after Shimano yet, so he goes apeshit on the Dojima Family HQ instead. He completely blanks out and only comes to his senses just a second before he kills Lao Gui, the last man standing between himself and Dojima Sohei.
-->'''Sera:''' A fine rampage, by the way. I couldn't have done better myself.
* ScrewTheRulesImDoingWhatsRight: Shimano orders Majima to deliver Makoto to him and kill Kiryu if he gets in the way. However, Sera gave Majima Kiryu's business card and Majima is disgusted with Shimano and himself for being manipulated, so instead he calls to Kiryu's office and basically comes begging for help. This also means that Majima and Nishiki never fight each other.
* SomethingOnlyTheyWouldSay: Makoto checks if the nameless man on the phone is her protector by asking Kiryu to identify what her [[MementoMacGuffin keepsake]] is, knowing that only her protector would know it. He correctly answers that it's a music-box watch, and Tachibana allows him to enter their hideout.
* TheTeamNormal: Nishiki is the only heroic character by the end of the Empty Lot incident ''not'' to have Flames.
* TokenEvilTeammate: Tachibana, Makoto, and Kiryu do ''not'' trust Oda. Tachibana only sends him along with Kiryu to retrieve his sister because he was lacking in manpower, and the only reason he has not punished Oda yet is because the Tojo are a more urgent threat. Oda is completely remorcefull of his wrongdoings, but he knows that being sorry won't cut it.
* TraumaticSuperpowerAwakening: ''Hoo boy''. This one-shot might as well be called "Traumatic Superpower Awakening: The Fic".
** Kiryu and Oda awaken their flames at the sheer rage they feel seeing Kuze torture Tachibana just as he was about to be reunited with his sister.
** Makoto awakens her Sun Flames in response to feeling her brother dying in her arms.
** Makoto activates Tachibana's Flames in an attempt to heal him as he's dying.
** She also activates Majima's Flames, but his full Activation is his RoaringRampageOfRevenge against the entire Dojima Clan.
* WholeEpisodeFlashback: This installment covers the events of ''VideoGame/Yakuza0'', eighteen years prior to the events of the fic series. In particular, it focuses on what ''changed'' in these events to lead to Oda and Tachibana both surviving.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Tsuna's First Minion]]
* BenevolentBoss: Tsuna takes the role of "boss" to be the same as "mother hen". His first order of business after he and Hayato swear their oaths to each other is to help Hayato find a house despite all his protests.
* DidntSeeThatComing: Much like before when Reborn was not prepared to deal with Majima, he's also not prepared to deal with someone as StrongAndSkilled as Kiryu and gets knocked out.
* TheDreaded: Hayato turns white as a sheet when he founds out Majima is the "Mad Dog of Shimano" Majima.
* ExpertConsultant: Whenever Tsuna has any Family (yes, capitalized) problems, he goes straight to Majima who once led the biggest Family in the Tojo and therefore is a better source of advice than Reborn.
* AFatherToHisMen: Majima's advice on how a Boss should handle their people boils down to this trope; give them tasks, deal with them when they screw up, and keeping them happy and healthy.
* FirstNameBasis: Tsuna's first order to Hayato is to call him by name as opposed to "Jyuudaime". Hayato settles on "Tsuna-sama".
* FullEpisodeFlashback: This one-shot details how Hayato joined Tsuna's group, as was mentioned in ''Reunion''.
* HeteronormativeCrusader: Downplayed, but Reborn doesn't seem to think too highly of Majima's sexuality.
-->'''Tsuna:''' I know Majima-san will give me a straight answer.\\
'''Reborn:''' (shooting a DeathGlare) There is nothing straight about that man.
* HeyYou: Majima calls Reborn "Sunshine" as an insult. Likewise, Reborn calls Majima "some random Yakuza".
* HiddenWeapons: Takeshi hides a knife under the jacket of his [[AxesAtSchool school uniform]].
* HonestCorporateExecutive: Hayato worries that he'll have difficutly finding a place because he's half Italian in Japan, but Kiryu assures him that Tachibana Real Estate does not tolerate any kind of discrimination. Obviously, since the president is half Chinese and disabled.
* InternalReveal: When Kiryu calls out Reborn on using Dying Will Bullets to activate Tsuna's Flames when he's a Sun, Reborn reveals that Tsuna's Flames were sealed and that's why he can't do it the normal way. That said, he doesn't say how or why they were sealed.
* JackBauerInterrogationTechnique: Under the effects of the Dying Will Bullet, Kiryu tries to beat information out of Reborn. However, because he cannot dial back the Flames, he accidentally knocks him out cold.
* LyingByOmission: Hayato concludes tha Reborn lied to him about Tsuna's personality, because while he was technically correct when describing him as soft, clumsy, and weak, he neglected to mention his bravery and strength of character.
* MySuitIsAlsoSuper: Kiryu's suit is Flame resistant, which is why [[LimitedWardrobe he wears it all the time]].
* PaintingTheMedium: Kiryu in his text messages uses emojis instead of names for some people. He himself has a dragon emoji, Majima has an Oni emoji, and for Reborn he uses a bee emoji.
* TakingTheBullet: Kiryu takes a Dying Will Bullet for Tsuna, which puts him in [[SuperMode Dying Will Mode]].
* TranquilFury: Kiryu very calmly informs Majima over text message that he's [[RoaringRampageOfRevenge declaring a war on the Vongola]].
* TraumaButton: The mere thought of sealing Flames is enough to trigger a panic attack in Majima. Kiryu finds him in a TroubledFetalPosition, [[SecurityBlanket clutching his dragon plush]] and [[INeedAFreakingDrink drinking]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Drive and Determination]]
* BarrierWarrior: Kiryu creates a barrier with his Lightning Flames to trap Reborn inside.
* ContrivedCoincidence: It just so happens that Tsuna was already a big fan of Pocket Circuit, same as Kiryu.
* CoolAndUnusualPunishment: Majima's response to Reborn ordering him to become Tsuna's Guardian is to [[ForcedTransformation turn him into a newt]] and mail him and Leon to Peru.
* DramaticIrony: Reborn tries to recruit Kiryu and Majima as Tsuna's Guardians without knowing that they ''already are''; to another Sky, that is.
* {{Escapism}}: Tsuna's reason for liking Pocket Circuit so much is because in there nobody calls him names, nobody excludes him, and it doesn't matter what his grades are or how clumsy he is. He can just spend hours forgetting about the outside world and tinker with his toy cars.
* InelegantBlubbering: Lambo is so devastated by whatever his family situation is that he's reduced to tears, babbling, and can barely remember to talk in Japanese so Kiryu will understand him. Kiryu is ''furious''.
* InnocentlyInsensitive: Kiryu asks Lambo where his parents are. [[ParentalNeglect Lambo bursts into tears.]]
* MightyGlacier: Tsuna says that vintage cars like the one Kiryu has used to use die-cast metal as opposed to plastic, so they are heavier and slower by default. However, this also means that they're far less likely to fly off the track. In comparison, the new cars are {{Glass Cannon}}s.
* {{Objectshifting}}: Leon transforms into a toy car, complete with wheels, much to Hayato's bafflement who goes into a rant on why wheels on an animal should be a biological impossibility (basically, no way for blood vessels, nerves, and other such things to connect).
* ResolvedNoodleIncident: In ''Reunion'' Kiryu says that he took in Lambo. This fic reveals how that happened.
* SpottingTheThread: Tsuna realizes that Kiryu and Majima are already connected to a Sky when Kiryu tells him that Majima takes loyalty very seriously.
* TheStoic: Lambo is surprised that Kiryu isn't telling him to hold in his emotions. Kiryu replies that accoding to Majima he does that enough for twenty people, and Lambo is a kid so he doesn't have to worry about it.
* TemptingFate: Tsuna hopes that Reborn will never invade into his Pocket Circuit hobby, but the hitman does so anyway.
* WeCanRuleTogether: A variation. Reborn, seeing that he cannot get rid of Kiryu and Majima, instead announces that they are now Tsuna's Lightning and Mist Guardians. When Kiryu and Tsuna point out that's not how Flames work, he doubles down by saying that being a Vongola Guardian is a great honor. Kiryu still rejects him.

[[folder:What the Heart Sees]]
* CameraFiend: Makoto no longer takes her sight for granted, so she always carries her camera on her to capture all the moments she sees. The fic is a series of descriptions of some of the pictures she took.
* CharacterizationMarchesOn: In ''Ignition (Storm Surge)'', Makoto and Tachibana say that they have not forgiven Oda for his actions but are willing to give him a chance to repent. In this fic, Makoto and Tachibana gift Oda a bat plushie to show him that he has earned forgiveness.
* TheComicallySerious: Several pictures have Kiryu playing with his kids with a perfectly serious and earnest expression as if it's SeriousBusiness for him. This include tea parties with plastic tea cups and tiaras.
* CommonalityConnection: "Car_boys" shows Tsuna and Tachibana bond over their shared interest in {{Cool Car}}s.
* FlowerMotifs: Many of the pictures feature flowers in various states of blooming.
* LikeBrotherAndSister: Makoto describes Majima as her brother by circumstance.
* NoodleIncident: The pictures allude to several events that haven't yet happened in the previous fics. Examples include Tsuna and Tachibana meeting, Fon coming to Namimori, or [[spoiler:Taiga getting out of jail]].
* {{Pun}}: The picture where Tachibana Tetsu is asleep on a kotatsu is titled "Ko-tetsu".
* ShoutOut:
** "Hairparty" shows Kiryu wearing a ''Franchise/HelloKitty'' hairband.
** "Therealheroeshere" shows Haru and Haruka cosplaying as ''Manga/SailorMoon'' characters.
* VisualPun:
** The picture where Tachibana is hiding behind a madarin orange display is titled "Camouflage". Because Tachibana is also a mandarin.
** "Surprise_bat" shows Oda - who has a bat tattoo - being surprised by being gifted a bat plushie.

[[folder:Tiger Tiger Burning Bright]]
* AdaptationalRelationshipOverhaul: Thanks to Tachibana's influence, Majima sent several letters to Saejima while he was in prison. Therefore Saejima knows what happened to Majima, and the two hold absolutely no ill feelings towards each other.
* AssholeVictim: Saejima thinks Shimano is lucky that he's already dead, because Seajima would have killed him for what he did to Majima.
* BehindEveryGreatMan: Tachibana admits that his sister is the real brains of the operation.
* BlatantLies: How Seajima receives Kiryu's statement that he's a real estate agent.
-->"Real estate, his ass."
* CombatCommentator: Majima runs commentary on Kiryu and Saejima's spar. The two team up against him to make him shut up.
* ConflictingLoyalty: Discussed. After reading Majima's letters about the Hole, Saejima spent years thinking about what he would do if he was faced with the decision to choose between the Tojo and Majima.
* EntertaininglyWrong: Saejima at first thought that Tachibana was a legal aide while he's actually the president of a real estate company and one of the most powerful men in Asia.
* ExpositionCut: Tachibana and the others explain Flames and everything that happened between Seajima's imprisonment and release offscreen.
* FateWorseThanDeath: In Saejima's opinion, spending one year in the Hole is almost worse than dying.
* FishOutOfTemporalWater: Saejima went in jail in 1985 and gets out in 2008, so all technology surprises him. Of particular note to him are cell phones, the rice cooker having more buttons than an airplane cockpit, and the cyborg.
-->'''Tachibana:''' How are you finding the future so far?\\
'''Saejima:''' It's pretty wild.
* FishOutOfWater: Saejima is so unused to the outside world that ''seeing a woman'' throws him off. Seeing that said woman has HealingHands throws him even ''more'' off.
* GroinAttack: Saejima attacks Kiryu in the "nuggets" at one point during their spar.
* HeroicBuild: Majima is... ''thrilled'' at the sight of Kiryu and Saejima fighting shirtless.
-->'''Majima:''' Ohmy''god'' so much muscle...
* HonoraryUncle: Haruka, Lambo, and I-pin all refer to Majima as "Uncle Majima".
* MundaneObjectAmazement: Saejima is astounded to have a ''table''.
* MythologyGag:
** Seajima says that if he and Kiryu were to have an all-out fight, he has no idea who would win. In the ''VideoGame/LikeADragon'' games, they clash twice and both times end in a draw.
** Saejima is completely floored at the sight of Makoto because she's a woman and he hasn't seen a woman in decades; referencing his small FreakOut in ''VideoGame/Yakuza4'' when he sees Haruka.
* NotUsedToFreedom: Saejima admits that freedom feels strange after over two decades on death row.
* ParkingGarage: Kiryu's favourite sparring location is the parking lot of an abandoned mall.
* PrisonsAreGymnasiums: Taiga says that he didn't have anything else to do in prison ''but'' work out; hence why he's "jacked".
* ResolvedNoodleIncident: Saejima first shows up in ''What the Heart Sees''. This fic details how he got out of prison.
* SideBet: Makoto accidentally activates Saejima's Rain Flames. Her reaction is to say that Oda owes her takoyaki.
* {{Troll}}: Majima tells Kiryu to be less stuffy.
-->'''Kiryu:''' I shall do my best, Nii-san.\\
''{{Beat}}. Kiryu grins.''\\
'''Majima:''' Yer doin' that on purpose, ya little shit!

[[folder:An Eye for an Eye]]
* CommonalityConnection: Invoked. Makoto decided to approach Majima for Nagi's disability mentorship program because they're both missing an eye.
* ContinuityNod: Majima tells Nagi the story of how Kiryu got Nugget back in ''Yakuza 0''.
* ADayInTheLimelight: Half of the chapter is from Nishida's point of view, and details his experience working for Majima.
* DidntSeeThatComing:
** Nishida, along with the entire Majima family, is ''floored'' to see Majima ''bow dogeza'' in front of a guy none of them have ever seen before.
** When a nurse tells Nagi that she has a visitor from the disability mentorship program, she expects a middle-aged [[CondescendingCompassion vaguelly condescending]] woman. What she gets is Majima.
* FantasticallyIndifferent: Nagi doesn't have much of a reaction to suddenly bursting into indigo flames out of nowhere. Subverted in that she reacts with awe to Majima crafting illusions with them.
* HistoryRepeats: Discussed. Majima asks Tachibana if the new injured girl owns any shady bits of land, clearly worrying about a repeat of the Empty Lot incident. Tachibana confirms that she's not.
* ImaginationBasedSuperpower: Majima tells Nagi that with Mist Flames, she can make ''anything''.
* JawDrop: Nishida's reaction to the above greeting.
* LockedOutOfTheLoop: Nishida is ''hillariously'' uninformed about what's going on behind the scenes in Majima's life. Majima has told this man ''nothing'' about his past and his thoughts of people. For example, it took Nishida over ten years to figure out that Majima hates Shimano, and he has absolutely no clue that Majima is connected to Tachibana. He also has no idea about Majima's daily on-goings in his life, so he's completely blindsided when Majima adopts Chrome.
* MeaningfulRename: When Majima tells Nagi that changing her name is an option, she chooses the name Chrome.
* NonIdleRich: Tachibana and Makoto are involved in charities supporting disability rights.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: Everyone in the Majima Family can tell that the random stranger is a Big Fucking Deal from how deferential Majima is being towards him.
* ParentalNeglect: Nagi's parents do not care for her. Part of her escapist fantasy is them caring.
* ScrewTheRulesImDoingWhatsRight: Majima knows that Nagi can't go back to her family who doesn't want her, so he decides to take her in, even if he knows that it's technically kidnapping.
