[[folder:Dreamt]]
* BigBrotherInstinct: Star is furious seeing that Nocturn had also placed a dream helmet on her baby half-brother, Pierre, and deems it unforgivable before vowing to free him too.
* CallBack: Star recalls Danny telling her about Tucker's dream in "Sunk".
* ContinuityNod: Many aspects from the episode "Frightmare" are repeated, something Jazz and Tucker acknowledge.
* CreativeSterility: Star and the rest of Team Phantom are very unimpressed to see that Nocturn is essentially recycling his last scheme, with only some minor tweaks. Nocturn insists that the only reason his last plan failed was because of Danny and that by eliminating him from the equation, he has nothing to worry about.
* DreamStealer: Star learns about Nocturn in this story, and how he feeds off good dreams.
* DreamWalker: Star uses a specially made helmet Danny had made in case Nocturn returned and he was unavailable.
* InsistentTerminology: Jazz still insists all calling the Sleepwalkers "Creepwalkers".
* LotusEaterMachine: Nocturn's helmet continue to serve as this, with Danny's apparently making a dream too nice for him to get shocked or resist.
* TheLastOfTheseIsNotLikeTheOthers: Tucker lists several electronic components to do repairs of the helmet, including fudge pops. Star asks if the helmet actually needs them, prompting him to reply, "[[BlatantLies ...yes]]".
* NotSoAboveItAll: Despite her insistence on being an intelligent individual who looks down on what other shallow girls like, Sam fantasizes her secret admirer after an Olympic swimmer she saw on television, a notable {{Hunk}} who shows off his muscles.
* SickeninglySweethearts: While Star enters Danny's dream world, she sees their dream variants as this, acting even more loving to each other.
* WouldHurtAChild: Pierre is one of Nocturn's many victims, much to Star's anger.

* AdaptationalVillainy: In the non-canon video describing her, Misery Vex is the name of one of the ghosts that overthrew Pariah Dark. She's instead depicted as the villain of an in-universe Danny Phantom comic, and her appearance in the real world shows her just as malicious.
* AmbiguouslyGay: Misery Vex is said specifically to have a hate for all men, something evident as she calls them "man-things". However, she is far more forgiving and civil towards her female minions. Star admits the comic is rather subtle about her orientation.
* AscendedExtra: Not a character but a gag. ''WesternAnimation/RealityTrip'' showed a moment where Danny has a comic book in-universe, one he didn't approve of. The story centers around said comic book.
* BadBoss: Misery Vex is verbally abusive and controlling to her male minions and seems guilty of favoring her female ones.
* BrutalHonesty: Tucker begs Star to give him her thoughts on his comic. More accurately, he wants to know how awesome he thinks she'll say it is. Star responds flatly by telling him "it sucked".
* CantTakeCriticism: Tucker takes offense to Star badmouthing his comic by criticizing his art, writing and blatant ego. In fact, the first thing he does after Star tells him his comic sucks is to ask if she meant that ironically.
* CallForward: Meta-example. Ben Silver mentioned Kentucky Goblins and The Mothman as {{Public Domain Character}}s. Creator/NeoMark announced Danny Phantom crossovers with both of these creatures a few months before the finale chapter of this fic was made.
* DatingCatwoman: Apparently, Shade had this kind of relationship with Danny in the comic book. Not so much in real life.
* DoesNotLikeMen: Misery Vex is verbally abusive to all males, even if they work for her willingly.
* DramaticIrony: Ben Silver told Danny that he needs to be at least a half-ghost to sue him (which Danny '''is''').
* TheDreaded: Not for a character, but the magic pen that brought them to life. The Ghost Writer, having experience with it, is terrified of the pen enough to tell Star, Sam and Tucker what it does and the dangers it can cause.
* {{Expy}}: The author admits he based Misery Vex on Lady Dimitrescu of ''VideoGame/ResidentEvilVillage''; they're both tall women with an utter disdain for men and refer to them as "man-things" as an insult.
* FaceDeathWithDignity: Rebreather was more '''annoyed''' at the fact that [[WeHardlyKnewYou he melted away practically immediately after he got there]] than the fact that he's dying.
* KilledOffForReal: Since their very existence was dependent on the pen, its destruction means Misery Vex and her servants are the first characters to effectively die. Since they aren't actual ghosts, their end is permanent.
* MythologyGag: Funhouse, Swarm, Shade and Plaything are actually the ghosts created by Creator/ButchHartman himself who were made in a series of videos designing new villains long after the show's final episode aired.
* NoSell: Since they're not ghosts but beings made of ink brought to life, Misery Vex and the other comic villains are unharmed by the Fenton tech. Any damage they inflict clearly isn't felt by the villains as any form of pain and they just regenerate. This also renders the Fenton Thermos useless as there's not enough ectoplasmic energy in them to be captured by it.
* PetTheDog: Despite her blatant dislike of men, Misery Vex treats Rebreather rather pleasantly and doesn't sound as venomous when calling him a man-thing.
* ShoutOut:
** When asked how she knows how well the Danny Phantom comics sell, Star replies with ''[[WesternAnimation/TheFairlyOddParents "Internet?"]]''.
** When Tucker decides to make a comic, Sam sarcastically calls him "[=McDuffie=]". Creator/DwayneMcDuffie was a prominent comic book and animation writer, including being the creator of ''ComicBook/{{Static}}''.
** When Sam sees Tucker's comic, she asks if that's Danny Phantom or [[Franchise/{{Transformers}} Optimus Prime]].
** When Danny meets Rebreather, the latter replies that he should be thwarted by another set of [[Franchise/ScoobyDoo meddling kids]].
* TerribleArtist: Star openly tells Tucker that his drawings suck, pointing out glaring issues with perspective, detail, colors and the like. Tucker [[CantTakeCriticism refuses to listen]].
* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: Because he chose to simply discard the pen rather than destroy it as the Ghost Writer insisted, his half-brother Randy unintentionally let the makers of the Danny Phantom comic find it and unknowingly bring its villains to life.
* WeHardlyKnewYou: Rebreather is both an InUniverse and straight example. He was created the last in the comic and as a result is the last villain to come to life. He even [[LampshadeHanging lampshades]] this when he melts away:
--> '''Rebreather:''' ''(annoyed) Oh come on!'' '''''I just got here!'''''
* WhatMeasureIsANonHuman: Danny and gang completely didn't mind [[KilledOffForReal killing]] the comic villains, though it's justified as there seemed no other way to defeat them than to destroy the pen, thereby destroying them as well.
* WholePlotReference: The story is based heavily on the ''WesternAnimation/ExtremeGhostbusters'' episode "Deadliners", in which fictional ghosts turn real and cause havoc.

[[folder:Mistaken]]
* AbductionIsLove: Poindexter kidnaps Star after mistakenly believing her to be the reincarnation of his high school crush.
* AbhorrentAdmirer:
** Donovan Loadman is introduced as one to Star. He regards her a possession he's [[EntitledToHaveYou entitled]] to and ignores her repeated rejections or that she's now dating Danny.
** Also Poindexter. Star is incensed that he tried to force her to be with him by kidnapping her, as well as put off by how he's projecting another girl onto her, finding it sexist and controlling. Unlike the above example, Poindexter learns better, apologizes, and backs off.
* AccompliceByInaction: Poindexter is called out for not trying to stop Walker from kidnapping Pierre despite his opposition to it, nor trying to help the baby afterwards.
* AchievementsInIgnorance: Poindexter admits to Star that even he doesn't know how he was able to steal Danny's body, but he's certain that it likely wouldn't work again if he tried it a second time.
* AdaptationalNiceGuy: Poindexter eventually makes peace with Danny by apologizing to him for what he did in "Splitting Images" after realizing he was wrong about Danny being a bully. He even helps Danny and Star deal with the obnoxious Donovan Loadman by humiliating him at the mall.
* AlphaBitch: Stacy Morgan, Poindexter's crush in high school, was the typical beautiful and popular mean girl who bullied other students, including him.
* TheAtoner: To atone for his mistakes and hypocrisy, Poindexter helps defeat Skulker, humiliates Donovan and his friends for harassing Danny and Star, and arranges for the couple to have a movie marathon since their date was interrupted. He also begins reevaluating his afterlife and promises to be more cautious when dealing with bullies in the future.
* BigSisterInstinct: Star is far more hostile towards Poindexter upon realizing his lack of backbone when the ghosts he worked for kidnapped Pierre.
* BadassBookworm: Poindexter uses his knowledge of science and his school's inner workings to help Danny trick Skulker into using Ember's guitar near the outdated electrical system, setting off an overload that fries Skulker's ecto-suit.
* DeliberateValuesDissonance: Poindexter comes from the 1950s, when girls were meant to behave differently than how they are now, and thinks it's wrong for them to fight. He wishes Star acted the same, which she considers sexist.
* DidntThinkThisThrough: It isn't until Star points it out that Poindexter essentially kidnapped her, and that Danny Phantom will be looking for him, does he realize he's in serious trouble.
* DirtyCoward: Poindexter, just like in "Protected". His first instinct when Skulker shows up is to hide while Ember, Danny, and Star take him on. {{Subverted|Trope}} when Danny saves him and he's prompted to help, proving himself a CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass.
* EnemyMine:
** Ember has her own vendetta with Poindexter, so she agrees to help Danny find him to rescue Star.
** In the end, Ember, Danny, Star, and Poindexter work together to defeat Skulker.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: Ember is appalled to learn Poindexter did nothing to stop Walker from kidnapping a baby. However, Poindexter himself calls out Ember's sudden moral compass as she had no problem making unwanted advances towards said baby's older sister's boyfriend. Ember defends herself by stating she wouldn't have let babies get taken from their homes.
* EveryoneHasStandards: Even during her A-Lister days, Star found Donovan and his snobby friends too unpleasant to be around. The fact that he felt [[EntitledToHaveYou entitled to be with her]] clearly didn't help.
* {{Expy}}: According to the author, Donovan Loadman is based on Warren Lawford from the ''WesternAnimation/BatmanTheAnimatedSeries'' episode "[[Recap/TheAdventuresOfBatmanAndRobinE6TheTerribleTrio The Terrible Trio]]". And it shows, with both Donovan and Warren being elitist jerks that look down on others, the only difference being that Donovan does not become a criminal for kicks.
* FreudianExcuseIsNoExcuse: Star makes it clear to Poindexter that the torment he went through in his youth doesn't excuse him hurting Danny or not helping Pierre.
* HiddenDepths: Stacy may have been an AlphaBitch, but she was also an honors student with an interest in cars.
* HisOwnWorstEnemy: After learning how much Stacy changed, Poindexter begins to realize how he has spent decades as his own prisoner due to his single-minded obsession with taking down bullies to deal with having been a victim, to the point that his afterlife is a visage of his school while his peers have long since moved on.
-->'''Poindexter:''' ''Have I been bullying myself without even realizing it?''
* {{Hypocrite}}: Star calls out Poindexter's belief of standing up to bullies when he refused to hear Danny's side of the story, along with being too afraid to stop Walker from having Pierre kidnapped.
* ILetYouWin: Ember asks Danny what really happened in his fight with Poindexter because she doesn't believe the latter is capable of beating Danny like he's been bragging about. Danny admits he took a dive in their fight to make Poindexter feel better and get his classmates to respect him.
* JerkassRealization: After Danny saves him from Skulker's rocket, Poindexter realizes he jumped to conclusions regarding him and that Danny isn't a bully.
* JustFollowingOrders: Poindexter insists he couldn't do anything to help Pierre since Walker was his boss and ordered him to not stop him. That only angers Star more.
* LaserGuidedKarma: Poindexter gets back at Donovan and his stuck-up friends for harassing Danny and Star by exposing Donovan's GoofyPrintUnderwear in a crowded mall, then dumping smoothies on his friends' heads, causing everyone to laugh at their humiliation.
* LeaningOnTheFourthWall: Poindexter tells Star that the term "Halfa" was not meant to describe half-ghosts, but an alias he made for Danny, akin to calling Batman the "Caped Crusader", and that it somehow became a term everyone accepted as the official term. This can be seen as a reference to how the term was only present in one episode of the series that ended being accepted by most of the fandom as the official term, when it was made to describe Danny specifically because he's "half a boy and half a ghost".
* LetMeGetThisStraight: Chapter 14 opens with Sam saying this after Danny and Star explain what Poindexter did.
* LetUsNeverSpeakOfThisAgain: Sam asks this of Jazz regarding the latter's plan to get into the movie theater in spite of the couples only rule.
* LovingAShadow: Poindexter knows very little of the former classmate he had a crush on and it comes as a surprise when he learns she became a race car driver and married a classmate that used to be a "tinkerer" instead of a football star.
* MeaningfulName: Star describes the Loadman family as "one of the richest in the state".
* MaliciousMisnaming: At one point, Star calls Poindexter "Jerkdexter".
* NeverMyFault: Poindexter's stubbornness, wounded pride, and jealousy of Danny initially prevent him from admitting how much he misjudged the situation between Danny and Dash.
* NoHoldsBarredBeatdown: Ember gives one of these to Poindexter offscreen as payback for getting her in trouble with Walker.
* ReformedBully: After Poindexter's death, Stacy reevaluated her life and eventually started a charity to encourage bullied kids to seek help.
* TheResenter: As Star tears apart his arguments, Poindexter finally snaps that it's not fair Danny has a wider variety of powers, fame and respect in both the human world and Ghost Zone, and a beautiful girlfriend, lamenting that his own life "wasn't like a comic book". Star realizes he's DrivenByEnvy over Danny Phantom being a better superhero than him, including with the people Poindexter aims to protect, and points out this is why he is [[SecretlySelfish not as righteous as he claims to be]]. In the end, Poindexter is forced to admit she's right and letting his resentment control him even in death is just making him lonely and miserable, and caused him to [[SelectiveObliviousness ignore Danny's heroism]] to justify his actions.
* SkewedPriorities: After finding an unconscious Star, Poindexter kidnaps her and brings her to his realm instead of making sure she is okay or getting her medical attention. Star and later Jazz call him out on this.
* TitleDrop: While recalling events from "Unprepared", Star comments how she was unprepared for her father's new relationship.
* UngratefulBastard: After Poindexter slips that Danny let him win their fight in "[[Recap/DannyPhantomS1E5SplittingImages Splitting Images]]", Star is furious that he never even apologized for trying to steal Danny's life and still deems him a bully despite Danny helping Poindexter gain his ghostly classmates' respect.

* AbhorrentAdmirer: Colette is this for Fun Danny and Paulina is this for Super Danny. Both versions of Danny are not flattered by their interest and much prefer Star over them. When the two versions of Danny get spotted by them at the pier, their first instinct is to flee.
* AllGuysWantCheerleaders: Danny keeps a picture of Star with her cheerleading uniform.
* ClingyJealousGirl: Both Colette and Paulina are in love with one side of Danny and seem to be even more determined in this fic than usual.
* CrazyJealousGuy: Both Fun Danny and Super Danny become jealous if the other is around Star and act competitive with each other for her attention.
* GirlsHaveCooties: Youngblood calls Star a "cootie-factory".
* LiteralSplitPersonality: Danny accidentally ends up splitting his ghost half from his human half again.
* LockedOutOfTheLoop: Danny never told Jazz about the events of Identity Crisis, and she's annoyed to learn so late.
* VillainRespect: Youngblood's assistant actually commends Danny for getting medieval terminology right.
* WantingIsBetterThanHaving: Star wanted a ghost free weekend to enjoy with Danny, only to find him being split apart and Youngblood causing trouble is making her change her mind.

* TheAce: Johnathan's new girlfriend, Solene, is a successful corporate lawyer who is very educated, scientific, artistic and does volunteer work with animals, and even has worked with NASA at one point.
* BothSidesHaveAPoint: After finding out about Solene, Star is upset and calls her father out on not telling her that he started dating again. Johnathan admits that he should have told her sooner but didn't know how. He also points out that she shouldn't have spied on him in the first place.
* BrainyBrunette: Solene has black hair and she is a very successful corporate lawyer.
* ContinuityNod: ''Billington's Island'' is mentioned again, which Jack and Johnathan liked in "Bonding".
* DaddysGirl: Star is very close to Johnathan, which this story emphasizes.
* DatingWhatDaddyHates: During an argument over Solene, Johnathan reminds Star that he never interfered with her past relationships, such as when she had been dating Kwan, despite the fact that he ''wanted'' to.
* DoesHeHaveABrother: Tucker wonders if Mr. Strong's girlfriend has a younger sister or niece. Solene later tells him that [[spoiler:she has "two younger sisters named Amanda and Jessica" but "they're both in their 20's" and already have boyfriends]].
* ExtremelyProtectiveChild: Star loves her father, Johnathan, very much and becomes increasingly worried about his sudden change in behavior.
* FreudianExcuse: Star's experiences with her stepfather and stepsister made her worried about her father bringing home more stepfamily.
* FullNameUltimatum: When Star and her father argue over him having a new girlfriend, it eventually reaches a point where Johnathan calls her "Estelle Joy Strong".
* HelloAttorney: Star's father is now involved with a female lawyer named Solene Elizabeth Brown, whom the narrative states is very attractive.
* {{Irony}}: A very tragic example. When Star first meets Jean-Luc and Colette as a child, while saddened by her parents' divorce, she genuinely tries to give them a chance... only for Jean-Luc and Colette to quickly show their true colors and make her miserable. Years later, when she learns her father has started dating a woman named Solene Elizabeth Brown, Star believes the worst about her and acts hostile, despite Solene being nothing but polite to her and all the evidence that she is a truly nice person who means no harm.
* LoopholeAbuse: Star might have promised her father she wouldn't spy on him "but [[ExactWords Danny Phantom]] wasn't part of the deal". The chapter where she brings it up is even called "The Loophole".
* MustMakeAmends: To save her father's relationship and his trust in her, Star is forced to ask her mother for help in fixing her mess.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: Star realizes she spent so much time wrongly seeing Solene as another Stella that she mistreated a good woman and broke her father's heart.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: Star becomes worried and paranoid when her father starts acting and dressing differently, even theorizing that he may be controlled by a ghost. [[spoiler: He's not, he just has a new girlfriend.]]
* OriginalCharacter: This story debuts Solene Elizabeth Brown.
* ParentWithNewParamour: Star has to deal with the fact that her father has a new girlfriend in this story.
* ShoutOut: Solene likes watching ''Billington's Island'', a stand-in for ''Series/GilligansIsland''.
* ThisIsGonnaSuck: Both Danny and Stella agree Star's idea to talk to Solene after lashing out at her the night before is a bad idea.
* WhatTheHellHero: Both Star and her father call each other out after she learns about Solene: Star calls her father out for not telling her about his new girlfriend while Johnathan calls her out for her spying on them and being rude to Solene.
* WholePlotReference: [[WordOfGod Flower princess11]] said this fic is inspired by the ''Series/SabrinaTheTeenageWitch'' episode "Meeting Dad's Girlfriend", in which Sabrina deals with her father dating Gail Kippling.

[[folder:Cursed]]
* ActOfTrueLove: [[spoiler:Danny partakes in a series of challenges to prove his love for Star and undo the Ghost Writer's spell on her.]]
* AdaptationalVillainy: In canon, the Ghost Writer was simply teaching Danny a lesson on what happens when you act spiteful to people over Christmas. Due to his imprisonment by Walker, he's become far less well-intentioned. [[spoiler: He curses Star for being Danny's girlfriend as an act of spite and goes about ruining other people's Valentine's Day out of pettiness.]]
* ApologyGift: [[spoiler: In the end, the Ghost Writer is forced by Madame Valentine to make amends to Danny and Star by using his powers to give them a Valentine's Day gift. The couple asks him to expose Colette and Paulina's scheme so as to mitigate any fallout from the forged love letter. Along with [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking destroying Colette's collage of Danny]].]]
* CallForward: [[spoiler:Sam's secret admirer is revealed in the future to be Christopher John Morgan.]]
* ContrivedCoincidence: When the Ghost Writer takes Danny to the Ghost Zone to test his love for Star, the ghost in charge of testing Danny turns out to be [[spoiler:Madame Valentine/Shelley, the Ghost Writer's ex-girlfriend]].
* DisproportionateRetribution: While it's understandable that the Ghost Writer was angry with Danny for destroying his poem, as well as getting him arrested, [[spoiler: he went completely overboard turning Star into a swan, just for being Danny's girlfriend]].
* EvilIsPetty: [[spoiler: The Ghost Writer's ''real'' motive (aside from wanting payback on Danny) was based mostly on him being bitter that his girlfriend broke up with him prior to Valentine's Day and jealous of the other couples.]]
* EvenEvilHasStandards: Even the Ghost Writer regards Colette to be despicable and while he briefly thought about rewriting reality to make Danny and her a couple, he rejected it as he couldn't consider typing anything about her that would compliment her.
* FalseSoulmate: Kwan is this to Star.
* FreudianExcuseIsNoExcuse: The Ghost Writer has an understandable reason for hating Danny since Danny destroyed his poem and even gloated about it. Originally, he just tried to get even with Danny and teach him a lesson, only to end up in jail as a result. Upon confronting each other, Danny acknowledges that the Ghost Writer has a good reason to be upset and genuinely apologizes to him. However, the Ghost Writer refuses to accept Danny's apology, pointing out that it is not enough for being in jail and destroying his keyboard. Initially, Danny accepts that, [[spoiler: but when the Ghost Writer turns Star into a swan]], Danny feels he crossed a line since Star was innocent and did nothing to him. Danny still tries to apologize to the Ghost Writer and asks to end this peacefully, pointing out that he does not have a right to take out his anger on Amity Park. However, the Ghost Writer refuses to listen and keeps trying to ruin Valentine's Day. Upon revealing the real reason that he wants revenge ([[spoiler:his girlfriend Madame Valentine/Shelley broke up with him through a letter before Valentine's Day while he was in jail]]), Danny is disgusted by the Ghost Writer's hypocrisy; Danny and Shelley would later point out that it does not excuse his petty actions. Danny loses whatever sympathies he had left for the Ghost Writer and is more determined to stop him.
* FullNameUltimatum: While punishing Colette for how she and Paulina tried to sabotage Danny and Star's relationship, Stella calls her "Colette Anastasie Marie Bevier".
* {{Hypocrite}}: [[spoiler: After the Ghost Writer's motives were revealed, Danny calls him out how hypocritical he is acting, given that he had punished Danny for his own negative attitude towards Christmas. The Ghost Writer, however, points out Christmas is far more important to the Ghost Zone than Valentine's Day is.]]
* IgnoredEpiphany [[ZigZaggingTrope Zigzagged]] as Kwan shows that he still misses Star and wishes she would return to the A-Listers. This is despite Star having made it clear that she hated her time at the A-Listers and no longer wished to be a part of them. Star has shown that she desires to become a better person and has outgrown her former "mean girl" mentality. Kwan, for a while, tried to respect her decisions, and while he did want to confront Danny out of jealousy and blame him for Star's change, he did not actually want to start a fight with him. He only thought Danny was cheating on her.
* ImpliedLoveInterest: It's hinted that Georgia (the Strong family's housekeeper) has a boyfriend or at least an admirer named Frank, who is a delivery man.
* IWantMyBelovedToBeHappy: After the ordeal with the Ghost Writer, Sam not only accepts Danny and Star's relationship, but genuinely hopes they'll be happy together despite her lingering feelings for Danny.
* LoveLetterLunacy: With Paulina's help, Colette creates a fake love letter addressed to herself with Danny's signature on it and sends it to everyone he knows in an attempt to break him and Star up.
* MisplacedRetribution: [[spoiler: The Ghost Writer takes out his anger over his girlfriend breaking up with him on all of Amity Park just for enjoying Valentine's Day.]]
* NeverMyFault: Instead of accepting his own behavior as the reason Madame Valentine dumped him, the Ghost Writer blames Danny. He also blames Danny for rallying all the ghosts at the Christmas truce party, ignoring the fact that ''he'' led them to Danny, hoping they'd attack the latter.
* NotGoodWithRejection: [[spoiler: The Ghost Writer reacts to his girlfriend breaking up with him by cursing all of Amity Park.]]
* ParentPreferredSuitor: According to Star, after she told her parents how Kwan was not very faithful or helpful to her while they dated, Johnathan and (eventually) Stella believed that Danny is a better boyfriend for her.
* PetTheDog: Sam is genuinely concerned for Star [[spoiler: when she is turned into a swan and briefly takes care of her until they can help her. When Danny, Jazz, and Tucker are surprised, Sam defends that she loves animals (and would never want anything bad to happen to Star).]]
* RejectedApology: The Ghost Writer does not forgive Danny after he apologizes for destroying his poem, given he spent months in Walker's prison the entire time since then.
* SecretAdmirer: [[spoiler:Sam finds a black rose and gothic poem in her locker from a secret admirer on Valentine's Day. When it happens again the next day, she becomes intrigued.]]
* ShoutOut: Star rejects Kwan by saying, "Plus, if I'm going to be an artist by the time I graduate college and open my own art studio by the time I'm in my 20's, I need a boyfriend who's not such a complete doofus, who'd dump me when he gets a 'better offer'." This mirrors Elle Woods telling off her ex in ''Film/LegallyBlonde''.
* SpottingTheThread: Sam recognizes Paulina's handwriting on "Danny"'s love letter, which, combined with the sloppy penmanship and superficial wording, causes her to realize Paulina and Colette faked it.
* StalkerWithACrush: After seeing Colette's [[StalkerShrine edited photos]] of him in her room, Danny declares her to be an even worse stalker than Paulina is with his ghost half.
* StatingTheSimpleSolution: After the Ghost Writer tells Shelley what Danny did to earn his ire, she points out that, since he can alter reality with his keyboard, he "could've just rewrote the poem back to normal whenever the mood struck".
* TemptingFate: Star refuses to get back together with Kwan, citing that their relationship was turbulent and unhappy. However, Kwan denies this and challenges her to name one example. She promptly brings up the time he dumped her for Colette for a whole week. Kwan then weakly suggests she can't name another one, only for Star to list off two other times he ditched her (for another girl and to hang out with his friends) and makes it clear there are many more, causing him to give up.
* TrickedIntoSigning: Paulina got Danny to sign Colette's love letter by presenting it as a petition.
* TrueLovesKiss: [[spoiler:The final step for Danny to turn Star back from a swan into a human is to declare his love for her and kiss her. Danny lampshades the cliche and ridiculous nature of this, but his feelings are sincere.]]
* ValentinesDayEpisode: This story is about Danny and Star's first Valentine's Day as a couple.

* AsianFoxSpirit: Zoren is a kitsune, a very powerful one, and demonstrates many abilities associated with them, such as shapeshifting, pyrokineses, lightning generation and various abilities associated with ghosts.
* TheBabyOfTheBunch: Star's half brother Pierre is a literal example, as he is just one year old.
* BigSisterInstinct: Star is willing to face off against the likes of Bullet and Walker to protect Pierre.
* CallForward: The events of this fic made it possible for the Ghost Writer to escape Walker's prison and plot his revenge against Danny in "Cursed".
* ChildrenAreInnocent: As one of the arguments to convince Star to babysit her half-brother, Danny points out the kid isn't at fault for his father's actions and she can take this opportunity to make him a better person.
* DiaperCheck: While babysitting, Pierre begins crying and Star dreads it when Danny suggests checking his diaper. She is relieved when that is not the case...
* TheDiaperChange: However, Pierre later ''does'' need a diaper change and Star has to beg Danny to help her, which he reluctantly does.
* TheDreaded: Zoren, Walker's only prisoner in solitary confinement, has this sort of reputation as almost every ghost seems to fear him and Bullet and Poindexter begged Walker not to release him.
* FriendToAllChildren: Zoren admits himself to be fond of small children, having not once made an attempt to capture Danny around Pierre's presence.
* NotSoWellIntentionedExtremist: Danny admits to Star that Walker is more of a control freak than someone who does any good with his prison.
* NotWorthKilling: Despite working for Walker at the time and not doing much against him after he took Pierre, the Observants deem that Sydney Poindexter is "Not even worth the effort to go after".
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: Not wanting to be anywhere near Zoren after Walker hit his BerserkButton, Poindexter takes a break until the whole mess is over.
* ShoutOut: When asked why Zoren doesn't sound like he's Japanese, he muses to Danny and Star that for all they know, Eastern Dragons [[WesternAnimation/{{Mulan}} really did sound like]] Creator/EddieMurphy.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: Pierre is stated to resemble Stella more than Jean-Luc, much to Star's relief.
* SureLetsGoWithThat: When Danny mentions Box Lunch in front of Star right after capturing the Lunch Lady and the Box Ghost, she assumes "Box Lunch" is "like some weird shipping name people who watch too much cartoons and movies come up with" and Danny, not wanting to tell her about his alternate evil future self, quickly confirms her theory.
* TemptingFate: After [[spoiler:being defeated, Walker says, "This can't possibly get worse". Cue three of his superiors showing up]].

* AmnesiacDissonance: Without his memories, and with Colette's temporary influence, Danny isn't as friendly with Sam, Tucker, or Star as he usually is. Even when he does start to remember nice things about them, he's a very paranoid and untrusting person instead of the loving and attentive boyfriend he's been to Star for the past 3 months.
* AmnesiacLover: Danny gets complete amnesia, forgetting that Star is his girlfriend.
* AsYouKnow: Parodied and lampshaded in the first chapter:
-->'''Vlad:''' At last, now bring it to me...with that new batch of nanobots, I shall-\\
'''Skulker:''' Are you for real? I ALREADY know what these nanobots are and what you want them for, you are just repeating yourself.
* BerserkButton: Sam hates being called "girly" or an "animal rights fanatic", as Vlad's vultures find out the hard way.
* BrutalHonesty: Even with her claiming them to be a couple due to his amnesia, Danny makes it clear to Colette he has no real attraction to her.
* ConsummateLiar: Nothing Colette says to the amnesiac Danny is the truth, just her trying to manipulate him.
* DatingCatwoman: The amnesiac Danny wonders with some interest if he and Ember have this sort of relationship. Tucker tells him no, as Ember may have an interest in Danny but she's not afraid to inflict bodily harm and it's clear LoveRedeems is not a factor.
* DeducingTheSecretIdentity: Valerie explains that after she saw past her anger, the events of "Found" helped her realize Danny's SecretIdentity due to Danielle's resemblance to his civilian and superhero selves, along with Star tearing into Valerie for her vendetta against Phantom, having access to the Fentons' gear, and [[FreudianSlip calling Phantom "Danny-boo"]].
* DescriptionCut: During a stakeout at Axiom Labs, Star suggests calling it a night and theorizes Vlad might be thinking Skulker's still trying to steal the nanobots. Danny asks if she thinks he's '''''that''''' stupid and the next scene shows Vlad still waiting for Skulker.
* DudeHesLikeInAComa: Colette considers kissing the unconscious Danny, but only stops because she wants him awake.
* EasilyForgiven: After Valerie remorsefully apologizes for everything she did to him as the Red Huntress, Danny assures her that he ultimately doesn't hold it against her; he cites that Valerie has also done a lot of good for Amity Park and the real one to blame is Vlad, as Danny has seen firsthand how manipulative he can be.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: Even Johnny 13 thinks Colette abandoning Danny to save her own skin was wrong.
* ExplainExplainOhCrap: Tucker's attempt to dissuade Star's belief that she's at fault for Danny's current state only ends up making him see she's partially to blame for it.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: Danny forgetting it's been 3 months since his relationship with Star started hints at things to come.
* ForgottenAnniversary: Star gets upset that Danny forgot their "quarterversary". To Danny's defense, he didn't think people really celebrated 3-month milestones in their relationships.
* FreudianSlip: Danny shows surprise at Valerie calling him by his first name in spite of both his identities (Fenton and Phantom) being called "Danny".
* HopelessSuitor: Colette is still after Danny, who makes it clear that he only has eyes for Star.
* INeedToGoIronMyDog: In chapter 2, when Danny has to sneak away to deal with a ghost, he tells Star to cover for him by saying that he went to the bathroom. However, Star points out that because he constantly uses that excuse, people will either stop believing it or start to think that he has a medical condition. Sam and Tucker even admit that she has a point.
* InnocentlyInsensitive: Danny outright not picking up Star's hints at their "quarterversary" upsets her. His responses to her sudden attitude didn't help. He doesn't realize this until it's too late.
* InsistentTerminology: Sam is NOT an animal rights fanatic, she is an animal rights ''enthusiast''.
* InternalReveal: Valerie confirms to Danny in the last chapter that she knows his secret.
* {{Irony}}: As Valerie wryly notes, she broke up with Danny to protect him... from '''himself'''.
* LampshadeHanging:
** Star asks Danny why Vlad is making Skulker steal the nanobots from Axiom Labs since he actually ''owns'' it and could easily obtain them himself. Danny theorizes that it's so he could use Skulker as a scapegoat, and also possibly out of laziness.
** Valerie points out the name "Danny Phantom" is too on the nose.
* LaserGuidedKarma: Colette's attempts to make Danny think they're a couple fall apart, causing him to "dump" her and her to end up passing out from shock at the sight of a tiger costume.
* LetUsNeverSpeakOfThisAgain: Vlad does NOT want to recall what Virgato did to him, much less that he had to live off cat food. He refuses to answer Skulker's questions about the matter.
* MoreThanMindControl: When Jazz recalls the time Johnny 13 tried to use her as a vessel for his girlfriend, he points out that Kitty might have messed with her personality but every decision Jazz made was her own.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone:
** Danny regrets yelling at Star when he realizes she wanted to celebrate their 3 months together.
** Star realizes in horror that Danny doesn't know what a quartervresary is and becomes regretful for snapping at him.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: Sam, Tucker and Jazz realize something is very wrong with Danny. Not only is he around Colette, who he despises, but he doesn't even remember Danielle, who Jazz knows he cares a great deal for.
* OpenMouthInsertFoot: As Star blames herself for Danny's amnesia, Tucker assures her it's not her fault because she didn't know about the nanobots' use until after she yelled at Danny and made him think they were breaking up, which causes him to realize it kind of ''is'' her fault. This prompts a smack from Sam.
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: In Chapter 15, once the Red Huntress shows what she's capable of, the Ghost Vultures decide to go MIA.
* ShipperOnDeck: Ashley, Paige and Mia all tell Star she should celebrate her "quarterversary" with Danny.
* TraumaButton: Dash unwittingly puts Colette into a shock-induced coma after shoving Casper High's mascot costume of [[WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes a tiger]] into her face.
* UnwantedSpouse: The amnesiac Danny quickly gets tired of Colette, who claims to be his girlfriend.
* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: By telling Star about quarterversaries, Ashley, Paige and Mia unintentionally cause turmoil in her relationship with Danny.
* WholePlotReference: A portion of this story is based on the ''WesternAnimation/KimPossible'' episode "Clean Slate".
* WomanScorned: Rejecting Colette causes her to become far more aggressive in her plans to get her hands on Danny.

[[folder: Bonding]]
* AmazinglyEmbarrassingParents: Poor, poor Star has to go through a lot of this in this story when her mother hosts a dinner at the country club between them, the Fentons, and Johnathan. It really hits home when Stella, in an effort to make Star look good to the Fentons, begins bragging about her daughter's looks, skills and accomplishments, all while not-so-subtly implying that she'd make a great wife for Danny, despite the fact that Danny and Star are still teenagers and have only been dating for a few months. It's so bad that Star thinks that she'd rather be dealing with the Monster Of Specter Island again.
* AwkwardFatherSonBondingActivity: Gender flipped when Stella tries to reconnect with her daughter Star.
* AwLookTheyReallyDoLoveEachOther: Johnathan Strong and Stella Bevier have a very strained relationship. When they married, they were both very much in love, but their different values and upbringings eventually caused them to drift apart over the years, and Stella ended their marriage on very bad terms when she ran away with an upper-class Frenchman. Johnathan is still very much resentful towards Stella for cheating on and leaving him, being a bad mother to Star, favoring her new husband and stepdaughter over their daughter, and generally being a stuck-up and unpleasant person who does not care how her selfish and thoughtless actions affect her ex-husband and daughter. While Johnathan tries to tolerate Stella for his daughter's sake, and Stella has realized how she hurt her daughter and is genuinely trying to be a better mother to her, they still very much dislike each other and throughout this story, get into petty fights over their past marriage. However, during a ghost attack where the two are endangered trying to protect their daughter, they both show concern for each other's lives and were happy that they were safe. Johnathan and Stella even share a small moment where they show they still care for each other. This leads to them becoming AmicableExes.
* BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor: At the Country Club, Pamela Manson tells the Fentons not to talk to her family or act like they know them. The Mansons later learn the Fentons are guests of Stella Bevier, who is a Golden Guild member and on the club's board. When Stella asks the Fentons if they know the Mansons, Jack and Maddie say they don't.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Eleanor is very nice woman. But try to get on her nerves and she'll show how mad she can get.
* CallingTheOldManOut: During "Fifth Course", Star loses her temper with her parents' bickering any chance they get, questioning how they ever married and fearing ending up like either of them.
* DirtyCoward:
** Jeremy and Pamela hid under the table and didn't let Sam help the waiter so he would become the tiger ghost's food instead of them.
** Colette used Sam as a human shield to save herself from the ghost.
* ExcellentJudgeOfCharacter: Eleanor can easily understand any person by just watching them a little.
* FemaleMisogynist: Stella holds Maddie's fighting skills against her because it's unladylike.
* FirstNameBasis: Star's mom reminds Danny that he may call her Stella.
* ForHalloweenImGoingAsMyself: Star plans to wear her Starlight outfit for Halloween.
* FramingDevice: This side story features Danny, Sam and Star telling Tucker about the events that took place while Tucker was visiting his grandpa.
* HilariousInFlashback: A flashback from before "Found" shows Jazz upset for not having a sister. She learned about her brother's female clone in "Found".
* ImpossiblyTackyClothes: The dress that Sam's parents made her wear to the club. Everyone except them thinks it's the tackiest thing they have ever seen.
* {{Irony}}: Sam was forced to come along so her parents could try to get into the Golden Guild, the most elite of the country club. She also expected the head of the club was going to be another elitist snob. Instead, Eleanor is a pleasant person with little tolerance for Sam's parents, whom she kicks out due to their cowardice and offers Sam to join the Guild when she's 18.
* LampshadeHanging: There is a part that is centered around Stella with Jean-Luc and Colette, even though Star, who is telling the story, isn't there. Tucker questions how she knows this and Star explains her mother filled her in.
* LaserGuidedKarma: All characters have their actions rewarded or punished by the end of the story, but special mention goes to Jeremy and Pamela, whose unpleasant behavior directly results in them losing their country club membership.
* LesserOFTwoEvils: Sam's parents made her go to the Country Club by telling her it was either that or babysitting her cousins who are {{Enfant Terrible}}s. Sam even quoted this trope word for word.
* {{Narcissist}}: Stella is hellbent on making sure the dinner goes well, not just for Star, but also to look good in front everyone.
* NeverMyFault: Stella blames her ex-husband for ruining her chance to get along with Jack and Maddie when it's actually because of her own character flaws that they don't like her. Later, Johnathan outright says Stella had this habit back when they were married, blaming him for her own poor decisions.
* ObnoxiousInLaws: It turns out Stella's mother and Johnathan did not get along when the two were married.
* OpenMouthInsertFoot:
** Stella brings up that she thinks it is unladylike to fight, something Maddie finds insulting. Stella tries to diffuse the situation by saying ''some'' women can fight, [[DiggingYourselfDeeper which only annoys Maddie more]].
** When Eleanor sees Stella and Johnathan, she assumes they are back together and expresses how happy she is for them by admitting that she never liked Jean-Luc or Colette Bevier, pointing out that Jean-Luc harassed women at the club and Colette was a brat, and Eleanor could not understand what Stella saw in either of them. That was until Stella informed her that she's still married to Jean-Luc and is meeting her daughter's boyfriend's family.
** Jeremy and Pamela Manson insist on being rude to the Fentons or talking bad things about them, until it turns out Eleanor likes the Fentons.
** Once Eleanor comments having met Sam before, the latter's parents are so afraid she gave Eleanor a bad impression that they insist Eleanor must be mistaking her for someone else. It turns out Sam gave a good impression.
* ParentalMarriageVeto:
** Star worries Danny's parents will forbid them from seeing each other because of her parents' yelling at each other.
** During said yelling, Stella tells Johnathan her mother warned her "about marrying a common lawyer".
* PassThePopcorn: Seeing how Virgato is giving Vlad a deserved beating for trying to enslave him, Danny wishes he had some popcorn.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Eleanor gives Golden Guild membership to Fentons and kicks out Pamela and Jeremy based on their actions. And it's only the start.
* RefuseToRescueTheDisliked: For as long as Vlad is the only one being attacked by Virgato, Danny will just watch. Once Virgato declares he's going to destroy the city, Danny will interfere.
* TheReveal: It turns out Vlad didn't get involved with the events of "Found" because he was busy facing Virgato's wrath.
* RunningGag: Someone mentions [[Franchise/MortalKombat Kintaro]] and someone else [[PopCulturalOsmosisFailure fails to get the reference]].
* ServiceSectorStereotypes: Stella tells herself that, for as long as Star is happy, she shouldn't care if her daughter's future husband ends up becoming "a manager at a fast food joint".
* SkewedPriorities: To Sam's disgust, she sees that Colette, during a ghost attack, changed back to her dress and wanted to flirt with the server to get the desserts she ordered.
* ShipperOnDeck:
** Stella admits she's a shipper of Danny Phantom and Starlight Spirit, unaware of their secret identities.
** Eleanor thinks that Johnathan and Stella have remarried, preferring him over Jean-Luc.
* ShoutOut:
** The above lampshading was a deliberate one from ''WebVideo/DragonBallZAbridged'', with Tucker using the very line Vegeta used to question Frieza knowing things he shouldn't have known.
** Jack and Johnathan bond over a series called ''Billington's Island''. By [=NeoMark's=] own admission, it's "a stand-in ''Series/GilligansIsland''".
** Danny outright calls the four-armed tiger ghost "Kintaro". Star and Jazz having rather confused responses made it clear they never played ''Franchise/MortalKombat''.
** At some point, Virgato is called "[[ComicStrip/CalvinAndHobbes Hobbes]]".
** After Virgato is defeated but Jeremy Manson continues to complain about the Fentons, Johnathan angrily grabs his collar and says, "Listen, you pompous..." before Eleanor intervenes. Later when Eleanor offers the Fentons a club membership, Pamela Manson tries to object on the grounds that there are no openings. She then decides to give the Mansons' membership to the Fentons, prompting Jeremy and Pamela to faint. This is similar to ''WesternAnimation/{{Mulan}}'' when Shang confronted Chi-Fu after the Huns were defeated before the Emperor arrived, and how Chi-Fu reacted to Mulan being offered a position as one of the Emperor's advisers and being told that, since there's no available spot, she could take his.
* TemptingFate: After getting her dress ruined and grounded, along with her pie ruined when her face landed in it, Colette declares the night couldn't get worse. Virgato, still chasing after Vlad, roars into the window of the limousine she's in, terrifying her into a fetal position.
* WhamLine: Akin to the monster of Specter Island, the tiger ghost ends up revealing his sentience when he says, "I did not agree to this..."
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: As a result of Vlad sending Virgato after Danny, Colette develops a fear of tigers.
* WorthyOpponent: Virgato considers Danny as one of those. He doesn't think the same about Vlad.
* YouCanTalk: The tiger ghost, Virgato, reveals he's fully capable of speech.

* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: Because Star treated her so nicely, Danielle pranked Paulina for insulting her.
* BigEater: Star discovers just how much Danielle can eat.
* BittersweetEnding: Danielle is forced to leave again to ensure Vlad doesn't find her. However, she gets a stable living arrangement at Sam's family cabin in the meantime and promises to return once Vlad is taken care of, with the promise of having a permanent home with the Fentons.
* CassandraTruth: Agent Alpha doesn't believe O and K about the Red Huntress getting in the way because she never had accomplices before, is known for hating ghosts, and isn't affiliated to any ghost hunting organization.[[note]]He sees this as something a ghost hunter needs to be able to afford an armor like the Red Huntress'[[/note]]

* DisappointedByTheMotive: When the Guys in White tell Dani they abducted her to use her as bait to capture Danny and Starlight after their defeat at their hands cost them a bonus, she says "that's the most petty reason I've[she's] heard in my[her] life".
* DreamSequence: A good chunk of a chapter is Danielle dreaming that she lives with the Fentons, being Jack and Maddie's daughter as well as Jazz and Danny's sister.
* EpicFail: In order to make Dani feel better when they play bowling, Star claims to have once gotten a gutter ball in ''someone else's'' lane.
* EvilIsPetty: Operatives O and K want revenge against Danny and Starlight because their defeat at the latter two's hands cost them a bonus. [[spoiler:The pettiness becomes bigger when it's revealed that their families' donations are the only reason Agent Alpha hasn't fired them yet.]]
* FreudianExcuseIsNoExcuse: Valerie hates Danny Phantom for ruining her life, as he accidentally caused her father to lose his job, leading to them becoming poor and her losing her popularity. Star calls Valerie out for holding a grudge against Phantom despite all he has done to protect the town, pointing out that it was an accident and he genuinely feels bad about it. However, Valerie does not care and says she still sees him as dangerous and a loose cannon. Star counters that Valerie [[{{Hypocrite}} is also dangerous]], is justifying a reason to be cruel, and Phantom actually improved her life by getting her out of the A-Listers, and she still has her father and real friends. Star tells Valerie that she's sorry what happened to her father, but Valerie cannot blame everything bad she went through on Phantom. When Valerie refuses to listen and still tries to claim Phantom is evil, Star loses her patience. She states Valerie has not changed at all from her time as an A-Lister and is still finding an excuse to be mean to someone, and Star is done listening to her whining and pinning the blame on someone who just had bad luck. Thankfully, Valerie finally gets her act together after this.
* HomelessHero: Contrary to what she said in "D-Stabilized", Danielle did not have places to go. In actuality, she's been living on streets with no home to call her own to get away from Vlad, as well as guilt over getting Danny hurt both times they've been together.
* IntergenerationalFriendship: Star slowly bonds with Danielle over the story.
* InternalReveal:
** Danielle meets Star, learning that she knows Danny's secret, and her's, and that she's his girlfriend.
** At the end, Jazz finally learns about Danielle.
* {{Irony}}: Star is the one from an "average" household but has less trouble accepting the idea of Danny having a clone than his sister Jazz has.
* KidSidekick: Star think Dani Phantom would make a good sidekick for Danny once she joins the family.
* LesserOfTwoEvils: Valerie is reluctant about accepting an invitation to sit with Tucker and Sam until Nathan invites her to sit with him and she quickly uses their invitation as an excuse to reject his. The expression "Lesser of two evils" is even used in-story to describe the scenario.
* PoliticallyIncorrectVillain: The Guys in White not only hunt ghosts regardless of the ghosts in question deserving it or not, but also are sexists who believe ghost hunting should be left to men. They also call Georgia a "wage slave" and consider her too low class for her opinion to be spoken to them.
* PutOnABus: Colette is away on a trip with her father, making this the first story since her introduction to not feature her.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Star delivers one to Valerie about how the latter hasn't improved as much as she thinks.
* SharedFamilyQuirks: While Jack is unaware of her existence, Danielle shares his appetite, something Star notes.
* WouldHurtAChild: The Guys in White are willing to hurt Dani to get back at Danny and Starlight.

* LampshadeHanging: This chapter actually calls into question why Sam and Tucker do not wear disguises when they assist
cheating on Danny in fighting ghosts, thereby preventing people from recognizing them. Star has the idea to wear a disguise and suggests it, only [[ClingyJealousGirl Sam]] is initially against it (until the end).
* LikeParentLikeSpouse: Where the previous installment ''Lost'' called attention to Danny's similarities to Star's father Johnathan, this one calls attention to Star's similarities to Danny's mother Maddie. Star wears an orange version of Maddie's jumpsuit when on patrol, wields her Fenton lightsaber when fighting ghosts, and has similar romantic banter

* AbhorrentAdmirer: Colette flirted with Danny, but her being pretty doesn't detract from how spoiled and annoying he finds her.
* AloofBigSister: {{Downplayed|Trope}}. Star does not hate her baby half-brother Pierre, but she is not thrilled about him coming to visit, along with her mom and the rest of that side of the family.
* AmazinglyEmbarrassingParents:
** Star is mortified by Stella's comments and pretending to be a French person
** Johnathan seems to be a more sympathetic version since he at least tried to be nice to Danny and didn't realize that inviting himself and Star for Cocoa was embarrassing her.

* AndroclesLion: [[spoiler:The Monster of Specter Island ends its feud with with Danny and Star after the latter feeds him and they set him free.]]
* AngerBornOfWorry: When Danny and Star return, Jack, Maddie and Johnathan are angry at them for vanishing. It's said to be the most worried Danny and Star saw their families.
* AristocratsAreEvil:
** {{Downplayed|Trope}}, as she is more selfish and thoughtless than evil, but Stella is from a wealthy, high-bred family who has no respect for the middle-class. It's also implied that her family is the same way, because according to her, she was raised to believe that her opinion mattered more than what the "commoners" believe.
** Stella's husband, Jean-Luc, is not necessarily evil, but he's a BlueBlood vineyard owner who treats anyone not on the same status as him with complete disdain and scorn, and has no problem stepping on others to get what he wants.
* AwLookTheyReallyDoLoveEachOther: Stella was shown to be a selfish and neglectful parent who favored her new family, not caring about how her actions affected Star, all while spoiling her rotten. [[spoiler: When Star disappeared]], Stella seemed sincerely worried for her, only to show how selfish she truly is by refusing to take responsibility for her daughter's disappearance, going as far to say she sacrificed her figure to give birth to Star. However when Johnathan plans to terminate Stella's visitation rights after calling her out for being a bad parent to their daughter, [[spoiler: combined with Star still missing]], Stella finally realizes just how serious this situation is, which shows that she really does love her daughter deep down and wishes Star was home safe.
* BabiesMakeEverythingBetter: Discussed. When confronting her mother, Star says Pierre's birth is the only reason Jean-Luc hasn't yet dumped Stella for another woman.
* BattleCouple: Danny and Star defeat Skulker together moments before admitting their feelings for each other.
* BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor: After calling her mother out, Star storms off and cries her eyes out over what had happened. She wishes she and Danny were as far away from her step-family as possible. [[spoiler:Desiree happened to have overheard her.]]
* BigScrewedUpFamily: Star's parents are divorced. Her mother has her new sleazy husband, spoiled stepdaughter, and newborn son, all of whom Star can live without.
* BirdsOfAFeather: Stella and Jean Luc Bevier; both of them are spoiled, selfish, and shallow rich upper-crusts who only care for themselves and look down on the lower-class.
* BitchInSheepsClothing: Star claims that her stepsister Colette is this. According to Star, Colette acts sweet and polite in front of her mom, but in reality is no different than Paulina.
* BlueBlood: According to Stella, she was born to one of New York's richest families, who came there all the way from France generations ago.
* BondVillainStupidity: As Danny notes when he sees the Plasmius Maximus has a switch to restore powers, Vlad doesn't learn from his mistakes.
* BrainlessBeauty: Stella looks like a grown-up version of her daughter, but is lacking much of her common sense.
* BrattyTeenageDaughter: Colette is Jean-Luc's spoiled brat daughter who likes to take what she wants whenever she wants.
* CallingTheOldWomanOut: After thinking Danny left because of their insensitive comments, Star finally calls her mother out for her vapid attitude, leaving her loving family for a womanizer and his spoiled brat daughter, and for not fulfilling her role as a mother. When Stella tries to defend herself and orders Star to apologize, Star then admits she hates her mother.
* CasanovaWannabe: Tucker questions how Danny got Valerie ''and'' Star, two former popular girls who despised his very existence, to like him.
* CassandraTruth: Apparently, Dash bragged about how he once got shrunk with Danny Phantom and they survived a ghost attack together. Star didn't believe it until Danny confirms it.
* CluelessChickMagnet: Danny doesn't realize Star and Sam are both into him and trying to take his interest away from the other.
* CuddleBug: Star has developed a habit of hugging Danny when she sees him. Danny doesn't mind or recognize her growing attraction to him, but Sam does and isn't happy about it.
* DePower: Thanks to an explosion from the Plasmius Maximus, Danny is slowly losing some of his powers.
* DisneylandDad: GenderInverted. Star says that while her parents are divorced, her mother still sends her a lot of expensive gifts and money year-round, and that she makes multiple trips a year to see her daughter in order to "spend time with her".
* DoesntKnowTheirOwnChild: Stella doesn't know much about her own daughter outside of what's on the surface.
* DramaticIrony: Paulina thinks Star and Danny are perfect for each other because they're both losers, all while nursing a hopeless crush on Danny Phantom. Both are unaware that Star has been nursing a crush on Danny Fenton, Danny Phantom's true identity, and grown very close to him.
* DyeHard: Colette dyed her hair a bright red, as opposed to the brown hair her father has. The narration made it clear her hair is supposed to be like her father's.
* DumbBlonde: Averted. Now that she's not Paulina's BetaBitch anymore, Star no longer acts like this. She's revealed to be very intelligent and reasonable, and takes her studies more seriously.
* ExactWords: When Star questions Danny Phantom about living in the Ghost Zone, he responds, "I don't really like living in the Ghost Zone. I spend every chance that I get in the Human World". It's technically not a lie, he just left out that he ''lives'' on Earth.
* FakeBrit: More like "Fake Frenchperson" but according to Star, her mother Stella tends to act like she is a native Parisian, despite being from New York.
* FirstPersonPerspective: The first chapter focuses on Star recapping the previous two stories in her diary.
* ForcefulKiss: Colette plants one on Danny just to spite Star. Danny didn't take it well.
* FormerFriendOfAlphaBitch: Star and Paulina are at each other's throats after the former recognizes how terrible a friend the latter is.
* FriendVersusLover: Sam and Tucker do not like Danny spending so much time around Star, [[spoiler:especially after she finds out his secret]]. Star tries to make some kind of compromise, as she doesn't mind not being friends but doesn't want to be enemies with them. Tucker seems to consider it, but Sam rejects it.
* FreudianExcuse:
** Colette's attitude likely stems from being spoiled by her father and her mother leaving them.
** Stella was born into a family that taught her from an early age that her opinion mattered more than what the "commoners" believe. Because of that mindset, she never thinks or cares about the consequences of her actions or words and how they affect her loved ones.
* FromBadToWorse: [[spoiler: A disastrous dinner with Star's step-family ends with her and Danny getting lost in an unfamiliar part of the Ghost Zone.]]
* FullNameUltimatum: Estelle Joy Strong and Daniel Fenton receive it from their respective dads [[spoiler:after they return home from the Ghost Zone]].
* GetAHoldOfYourselfMan: When Star begins freaking out over being lost in the Ghost Zone, Danny has to calm her down by slapping her in the face.
* GratuitousFrench: It seems Stella tends to use French words in her sentences, even when talking to her English-speaking daughter.
* HatesTheirParent: After thinking that Danny left because of her mother and Jean-Luc's comments, Star ends up arguing with her mother, calling her out on all her faults and after Stella refuses to take responsibility for her actions, Star outright says she hates her before leaving to go find Danny.
* HiddenDepths:
** Star knows French and is a skilled bowler.
** It's later revealed that despite always being self-centered, Stella did truly love Johnathan when she married him. Also, she still loves her daughter and it's shown that in Star's early childhood, she was not always a bad mother to her.
* ICanChangeMyBeloved: Colette thinks she can make Danny more preferable for her boyfriend, but Star thinks Danny is perfect as is.
* IHatePastMe: Star regrets that she ever treated Danny so poorly before.
* ILoveYouBecauseICantControlYou: Colette originally hit on Danny to irritate Star, but his rejecting her advances made her like the "challenge" he presented.
* InnocentlyInsensitive: Stella doesn't seem to comprehend when her comments come off as rude or insulting to people she talks to or about.
* InsistentAppellation: Jazz still insists on calling Skulker "Ghost X", since she thinks her name for him sounds better.
* IRegretNothing: Star does not regret leaving the A-Listers and is happy she is no longer friends with them, having found better friends in Danny and Valerie.
* ItsAllAboutMe:
** Paulina refuses to change the cheer the squad have been using when Star finds it underwhelming, because she was the one who made it.
** Jean Luc, Stella, and Colette Bevier. All three of them are spoiled, selfish, and shallow rich aristocrats who only care for themselves and their rich lifestyles.
* ItsAllMyFault: [[spoiler: When Desiree sends them to the Ghost Zone after overhearing her wish]], Star blames herself for their predicament but Danny (as Phantom) tells her that it's Desiree's fault.
* {{Jerkass}}: Something the Bevier father and daughter have in common. Jean-Luc is a pompous jerk to anyone not attractive in a skirt, while Colette is a two-faced spoiled brat who makes hidden insults towards Star.
* JerkassHasAPoint:
** Johnathan plans to use his connections as a high-ranking lawyer to terminate Stella's visitation rights so she can't see Star anymore. While it's true that he plans to manipulate the court system, he is right when he points out that Stella has been a bad parent due to her thoughtlessness, not caring how her actions negatively influenced their daughter, and the fact that she had sided with her stepdaughter over Star. What makes this worse is that unknown to Johnathan, Stella was a corrupting influence on Star for years, turning her into a selfish, shallow, two-dimensional popular girl because he thought Stella still loved Star and encouraged her to spend time with their daughter whenever she was in town. In hindsight, it would have been better for Star if Johnathan cut Stella out of her life from the start.
** {{Subverted|Trope}} when Stella and Johnathan begin arguing about the fate of their marriage. Johnathan reveals he is still very angry that Stella left him for another man, even more since she abandoned their daughter. Stella fires back that their marriage was already dead when she met Jean-Luc and it's not like they could've stayed together until Star left for college. Johnathan does not argue that point, but he retorts that she still did not have the right to cheat on him or abandon Star in the first place.
* JerkassRealization: Stella has one in chapter 17 after Johnathan informs her that he plans to terminate her visitation rights after calling her out for being a bad parent to their daughter. This and Star still missing causes Stella to finally realize how serious the situation is, that her selfishness has consequences, and she made a mistake, wanting her daughter back home safe.
* JerkWithAHeartOfJerk: At first when Stella learns that Star is missing. When yelling at Johnathan, she seems genuinely worried for Star, but then in the next chapter, Stella refuses to take responsibility for her daughter's disappearance, going as far to say she sacrificed her figure to give birth to Star. It's {{Subverted|Trope}} when Stella faces the possibility of losing her visitation rights and the chance to apologize to Star.
* LaserGuidedKarma:
** Now that the teachers are not favoring the A-Listers, they are being punished whenever they are caught in the act of bullying the other students.
** Stella left her husband and abandoned her family to live with Paris with a French man and his daughter. In this story, Star has had enough of her actions and calls Stella out. While her ex-husband Johnathan plans terminate her visitation rights, Stella realizes that because of her thoughtlessness, she's going to lose her daughter.
* LetUsNeverSpeakOfThisAgain: Danny has made it a vow to never acknowledge the whole incident from ''The Ultimate Enemy'' ever again. Star questions why he won't tell her, but recognizes it was traumatizing and doesn't press on.
* LikeParentLikeSpouse: Okay, they aren't a couple but Star is slowly falling in love with Danny, a NiceGuy who is more rational and down-to-Earth than her. Meanwhile, from what we've seen, her father Johnathan is also a NiceGuy and the more reasonable parent.
* LoveConfession: After surviving Skulker and finding a safe place to talk, both Danny and Star finally admit their feelings for each other [[spoiler:while Star learns Danny's secret]].
* LoveEpiphany: While going to save Star, Danny starts to realize he may have feelings for her.
* LovingAShadow: Johnathan admits to himself that his love for Stella blinded him to the type of person she really was until it was too late.
* MissingMom: Colette's mother never appears. According to Star, she apparently left her family due to Jean-Luc's philandering ways.
* NeverMyFault: Stella does not see herself to blame for Star's disappearance, even after she badmouthed Danny for not being good enough for her daughter. {{Subverted|Trope}} when Johnathan brings up how bad of a parent she is to Star, and Stella finally admits to herself that she made a mistake and wants her daughter back.
* NoGoodDeedGoesUnpunished: Despite Johnathan's understandable anger at his wife for cheating on and leaving him, he does not try to get in the way of Stella having a relationship with their daughter Star. Stella was a corrupting influence on Star, causing her daughter to grow insecure enough to befriend toxic friends and become a spoiled mean girl in the first place.
* NoSympathy: Jean-Luc and Colette don't show any concern at all that Star and Danny are missing, carrying on with their own activities. Johnathan points this out to Stella, in which she weakly defends them by saying they are dealing with Star's disappearance in their own way. Johnathan is clearly unconvinced.
* OfficialCouple: [[spoiler:Danny and Star admit their feelings and, after going on a date, go steady.]]
* OneSteveLimit: {{Averted|Trope}} and PlayedWith. Star's real name is "Estelle" and her mother's name is "Stella", both of which mean "Star".
* ParentalFavoritism: Stella seems guilty of preferring Colette over Star, which makes it even more tragic since Star is her ''biological'' child.
* ParentalNeglect: Stella is so engrossed with the rich lifestyle Jean-Luc lives that she barely has any time for Star.
* ParentWithNewParamour: Stella has remarried and Star really hates her stepfather, viewing him as a creep and refusing to call him "Papa".
* PunchClockVillain: Danny sums Kitty up as this. She doesn't have any real enmity with him like his other enemies, treating him cordially when she encounters him in the Ghost Zone. She really only causes trouble when her temper flares up and even then she'll be happy to stop once she calms down.
* RelationshipUpgrade: [[spoiler: Danny and Star become a couple near the end of this story.]]
* TheRevealPromptsRomance: [[spoiler: Star and Danny officially become a couple after Danny reveals his secret to her.]]
* RichBitch:
** Colette is spoiled by her father and so used to getting what she wants that she won't take Danny saying no for an answer.
** Stella is much older but she is just as shallow and materialistic, and seems to have very little respect for the middle-class.
* SecretKeeper: [[spoiler:Star vows to never tell anyone Danny's secret without his permission]].
* ShadowArchetype:
** Stella looks like her daughter, but much more shallow and rather unable to see how her actions negatively affect people around her when she wants something, like a more handsome and suave husband even when she was already married. She's essentially what Star could have been if she remained with the A-Listers and didn't have her CharacterDevelopment kickstarted by her feelings for Danny.
** Colette is another one to Star. They're both rich kids who live with their divorced father, but Colette is what Star could have ended up being like if Johnathan spoiled her.
* SheIsNotMyGirlfriend: When pressed about it, Danny and Star insist to her mother's family that they are just friends. Star hopes that will change, while Danny is unable to process his feelings for her.
* ShipperOnDeck: Multiple characters for Danny and Star.
** Johnathan Strong seems to recognize his daughter's interest in Danny quickly and voices his approval of her new "friend" more than the A-Listers.
** When Star admits to liking Danny, Cujo overhears and gets happy at the notion.
** Upon seeing Star, Frostbite finds her more amiable than Sam and thinks she'd be a worthy mate for Danny.
* ShippingTorpedo: Stella and Jean-Luc dismiss the idea of Star being with Danny, finding him too plain and unimpressive for her.
* ShoutOut: To ''WesternAnimation/SpiderManTheAnimatedSeries'' [[spoiler:when Danny Phantom reveals his feelings for Star, who admits her feelings for Danny ''Fenton'' and finds out his secret]].
* SiblingRivalry: Stepsisters Star and Colette hate each other and compete for things, with Colette usually winning due to Stella taking her side.
* SickeninglySweethearts: [[spoiler:Danny and Star's close romance disgusts Sam. Justified, given Sam's feelings for her old friend.]]
* SkepticNoLonger: Jean-Luc and Colette don't believe in ghosts until the Box Ghost shows up in front of them.
* {{Slimeball}}: Jean-Luc, Star's stepfather, who she has no real love for. She describes him as "WesternAnimation/PepeLePew without any charm", since he seduced her mother while she and Star's father were still married and made her leave her family.
* SureLetsGoWithThat: When Desiree [[spoiler: sends both Danny and Star to the Ghost Zone to grant Star's wish to be with Danny somewhere far away from her family]], Star assumes Desiree sent Danny ''Phantom'' instead of Danny ''Fenton'' because she didn't specify which Danny she meant when she made the wish. Not wanting to let Star know they're the same Danny, he pretends to believe her theory.
* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome: Star has a panic attack after realizing that Desiree teleported her to the Ghost Zone.
* UnderstandingBoyfriend: While they aren't dating, Danny finds himself sympathetic to Star's plight with her step-family and offers to join her when they arrive in Amity Park, earning a kiss on the cheek from her as a result.
* UsedToBeASweetKid:
** Star was once a kind, innocent girl as a child. However, her parents' divorce and her mother's corrupting influence and actions caused her to become insecure enough to befriend toxic friends and develop into the selfish, shallow, two-dimensional mean girl seen in canon.
** {{Downplayed|Trope}}. Stella was always a thoughtless and selfish person, but chapter 17 reveals that when she married Johnathan, Stella genuinely did love him but they grew apart over the years, and chapter 18 also shows that she was not always a bad parent to Star. However, Stella eventually cheated on Johnathan and left him, as well as neglecting Star in favor of her new family while she merely spoiled Star instead.
* UptownGirl:
** {{Deconstructed|CharacterArchetype}}. When Johnathan and Stella were first married, they were happy and in love despite their different backgrounds, as Stella came from an upper-class family and was raised to believe that she was inherently better than commoners, while Johnathan came from a middle-class family but with hard work, became a successful lawyer. Their different values and upbringings eventually caused them to drift apart overtime and Stella ended their marriage when she ran away with an upper-class Frenchman.
** Seems to be hereditary, as Star plays this straight while she seeks to be involved with Danny, who is also middle-class while she comes from a rich family.
* VisitByDivorcedDad: GenderInverted. Star's mother Stella, who moved to Paris with her new husband and his daughter Colette and just had a baby boy Pierre, is coming to visit for the weekend with her new family. A visit Star isn't exactly thrilled about.
* VillainousCrush: [[RichBitch Colette]] is very taken with Danny, who wants nothing to do with her.
* YouCanTalk: [[spoiler: To their surprise, Danny and Star find out that the Monster of Specter Island can actually speak when he thanks them for setting him free]].

* HeldGaze: While hiding in a locker together and hearing him compliment her drawing skills, Star spends a good deal of time staring into Danny's eyes.
* HeelFaceTurn: Star in the last chapter decides to leave the A-Lister once and for all, while threatening to sue the school to make the teachers punish them.
* LaserGuidedKarma: When Star threatens to sue Mr. Lancer and the school for allowing Dash and the A-Listers to get away with their bullying, Mr. Lancer punishes Dash by giving him detention.
* LuminescentBlush: Danny and Star blush bright enough to look like tomatoes after [[spoiler:they kiss.]]
* NiceJobBreakingItHero:
** By locking Danny in the bathroom, Star ends up trapping the both of them in the school, after hours with a ghost after them.
** Also due to wasting the power on her phone, Star can’t call for help.
* PapaWolf: When Star doesn't arrive home, her father decides to call the police.
* ParentsAsPeople: Star's dad does love her and cares for her well being, but he has a very busy schedule due to being a successful lawyer and rarely spends time with her. However, the moment he thinks her life is in danger, he leaps into action.
* PositiveFriendInfluence: Becoming friends with Danny causes Star to reject the A-Listers.
* RageBreakingPoint: Star, having had enough of Danny lying to her, locks him in the bathroom until he tells her the truth.

* ScrewTheRulesIHaveConnections: [[InvertedTrope Inverted]]. Star threatens to have her father sue the school and Mr. Lancer unless he stops favoring the A-Listers and punishes them for their bullying.
* ShipperOnDeck: Valerie quickly picks up on Star's growing attraction to Danny and, despite her still lingering feelings for him, thinks they'd be good together.
* SkewedPriorities: When Star is grounded and texts Paulina that she can't go to her party, Paulina is only annoyed that she won't be there and even suggests she sneak out, not caring that Star was trapped inside the school. This angers Star and is a factor in her quitting the A-Listers.
* SlapSlapKiss: Literal example. [[spoiler:Star slaps Danny twice for two things that genuinely angered her before she becomes very affectionate and kisses him.]]
* {{Tsundere}}: Star becomes one to Danny overtime. When she's not mad at him, she's growing fond of his heroic side and later, after slapping him, [[spoiler:kisses him on the lips]].
* {{Unishment}}: When Star reveals to her father that she got herself and Danny trapped in school, he punishes her by grounding her for the weekend and forbidding her from going to Paulina's party. However, not even wanting to go to the party in the first place and happy she can spend time with her father, Star does not consider this a punishment at all.
* ViolentlyProtectiveGirlfriend: Okay, she is not his girlfriend but [[spoiler: when Danny gets captured by the ghost that has been stalking then, Star goes to save him.]]
* WithFriendsLikeThese: As Danny pointed out, the A-Listers don't care about Star, telling her what she can and can't do. Paulina did not even care that Star was trapped in the school, only focusing on Star missing a party and making ''her'' look bad. Realizing Danny was right, Star unfriends Paulina and quits the A-Listers.
* YouAreBetterThanYouThinkYouAre: Danny assures Star that the real her who isn't trying to be an A-Lister is a much better person.

* YankTheDogsChain: Happens to Sam in this story. At Michelle's party, she appears to bond with another goth teen named Damien, who seems to have a lot in common with her and similar views. Then, she discovers that Damien is actually a guy named Dave, who is a fake goth and poser that uses his appearance to seduce girls, not unlike Elliot/Gregor. Sam is positively enraged and heartbroken that she was fooled a second time and dumps Damien/Dave on the spot. Thankfully, she receives some form of closure the next day as Damien/Dave humiliates himself when his pants fall down at school while he tries to hit on some other girls.

** Maurice and Angela are similarly angry with Tucker after Sam informs them of his binging on Nasty Burger. They punish their son by cutting off his allowance until they can pay off his tab at the establishment and mandate vegetables in his diet for a week.

* ForYourOwnGood: During ''Empowered'', Tucker becomes obsessed with Nasty Burger after a doctor criticizes its food for being unhealthy. To protest and prove that there is nothing wrong with Nasty Burger, he starts to eat excessive amounts of fast food from there, much to the concern of his friends. He ignores how detrimental his actions are, even when they begin to take a toll on his health, still insisting that he isn't doing anything wrong and continuing his "protest". Eventually, it gets to the point where Sam bribes the Nasty Burger into banning him from the establishment, much to his shock. Tucker quickly figures out that Sam is behind this and calls to confront her about it. She doesn't deny it and says this trope almost word for word to justify her actions. Tucker remains stubborn and accuses Sam of trying to push her views onto people like she tried to do in "Mystery Meat". However, Sam argues it's not the same and she is doing this to protect Tucker's health.

* ShoutOut:ScareEmStraight: In the end when Tucker's parents take him to the hospital for a check-up due to his all-Nasty Burger diet, Dr. Sampson shows him an (apparently graphic) educational film about the dangers of consuming too much fast/junk food. This traumatizes Tucker so much that he finally stops his obsession with Nasty Burger and swears to never go on such a diet again.
