Still they stuck together because they felt that nobody else in the world could understand their pain.
And then, right when they are being sent off into another war, after which they will be rendered obsolete and possibly executed at a dictator’s whim, a stranger comes along and makes them an offer of the "It sounds too good to be true" kind… and he brings along their future selves to convince them that they can trust him.
''A Crown Of Stars'' is a ''Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion'' FixFic by Strypgia, and authorized sequel of the DarkFic ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/5158315/1/A-Throne-of-Bayonets A Throne Of Bayonets]]''. Strypgia read "A Throne of Bayonets" and found it excellent, but he felt that [[BrokenBird Shinji and Asuka]] deserved a happier end. So that he got permission from the original author to try and write a sequel (which ironically is several times larger than the original fic). Reading "A Throne of Bayonets" it is not needed to understand the fic, but it is recommendable.
