[[caption-width-right:300:Clayton [[DeadlyEuphemism hangs his head]] in defeat.]]
* Rasputin's death in ''WesternAnimation/{{Anastasia}}'' was a serious offender. His body parts '''melt ''' into nasty green ooze and his cloak collapses to the ground. And then his '''skeleton''' emerges, screaming in agony '''while being shocked by green electricity'''. His final death comes as a relief. To top it off, it isn't a KarmicDeath. Anastasia knows ''just'' what she's doing when she destroys the [[SoulJar reliquary that is keeping him alive.]]
* ''WesternAnimation/AllDogsGoToHeaven'':
** [[BigBad Carface]] gets EatenAlive by King Gator.
** [[VillainProtagonist Charlie]] is murdered by Carface at the beginning via being hit by a car and knocked off of a pier. He, of course, gets better, but still. [[spoiler: His final death comes about when the watch that is his [[SoulJar life force]] breaks due to water damage, and is shown writhing in pain while it's happening, meaning he basically drowned.]] Unlike the first one, [[spoiler: ''it sticks''.]]
* ''WesternAnimation/TheBraveLittleToaster'':
** There are two very creepy musical numbers: "B-Movie Show", where a roomful of old appliances sing about being broken down for parts, and "Worthless", in which anthropomorphic cars in a scrapyard sang about their hopeless fates as they were being loaded into the crusher. A crusher that will later menace a ''human'' character. One of the cars even commits suicide when it drives itself along the crusher's conveyor belt so that its end will come faster.
** The DisneyDeath of Air Conditioner. The guy has what can only be described as an anger-induced 'aneurysm'... after sparking and screaming for a good minute.
** The scene where a lonely flower falls in love with the titular toaster, is quickly rejected, and promptly dies of heartbreak.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Frankenweenie}}'':
** [[spoiler: Mr Whiskers, after being transformed into a [[AxCrazy homicidal feline/bat hybrid monster]] by Weird Girl's attempt to replicate Victor's experiment, gets impaled by a flaming beam within the New Holland windmill while fighting Sparky. They don't show the impact, but you do see the aftermath.]]
** Not to mention Sparky himself, offscreen. Judging by all those seams and patches holding his body together, it's not hard to imagine what he looked like at the scene of the car accident.
** The sea-monkeys die by eating popcorn and '''[[LudicrousGibs exploding into liquidy guts]]'''. No GoryDiscretionShot, entirely onscreen. And this movie got a PG rating.
* In ''WesternAnimation/HelpImAFish'', Fly, a human turned into a fish, tricks the antagonist [[BigBad Joe]], a fish, [[BatmanGambit into drinking a potion that turns him human]] in order to become more powerful and intelligent... [[FailedASpotCheck whilst they're both in a deep underwater tunnel.]] Drowning ensues, on-screen and in real-time. The film just barely averts showing a genuine human drowning by having Joe undergoing some serious BodyHorror during the process, making him more of a MonstrousHumanoid when he finally dies -- a result of him drinking a lot more of the potion than was necessary.
-->'''Fly:''' What happens to a fish that drinks too much antidote?
-->'''Joe:''' It. Becoooomes... '''HUUUMAAAAN!'''
-->'''Fly:''' Yeah, but... can a human ''breathe'' underwater?
-->'''Joe:''' [[ExplainExplainOhCrap OF COURSE NOT!]] [[KilledMidSentence I-]] (''he drowns'')
** Likewise, when the GeneralRipper [[TheDragon Crab]] is [[EatenAlive eaten alive]] ''on-screen'' by the Shark; complete with a SickeningCrunch, [[LudicrousGibs fragments of shell going all over as he's crushed between its jaws on the first bite]], before finally going limp in its mouth and being swallowed. He may have been a villain, but that was just ''grim''.
* Creator/{{Laika}} loves this trope, and unlike Disney, their horrifying deaths are [[AnyoneCanDie not restricted to the villains]]:
** ''WesternAnimation/KuboAndTheTwoStrings'':
*** We don't see the actual blow, but [[spoiler:the first Sister's mask is shown to have been ''cut in half'' by the blow that killed her, implying Monkey killed her by slicing through her skull.]]
*** [[spoiler:Beetle dies]] after [[spoiler:being stabbed in the back by]] the second Sister. Monkey is implied to have been [[spoiler:''sliced in half'' if the charm she'd been is any indication.]]
** [[spoiler: Agatha's]] death in ''WesternAnimation/ParaNorman''. [[spoiler: The thought of an innocent 11-year-old girl being sentenced to hanging is very unsettling.]] Not to mention how it's suggested that the [[spoiler: zombies chasing Norman the whole film were killed by Aggie's "witch powers" after sentencing her to death.]]
** Archibald Snatcher's death in ''WesternAnimation/TheBoxtrolls''. [[spoiler: He swells up into a grotesque monster because of his allergy to cheese, and then he ''[[LudicrousGibs explodes]]'' [[KilledMidsentence mid-sentence]].]] It's [[DistantReactionShot only seen from a distance]], but still. Mr. Gristle's death is no better, being [[spoiler:''[[SquashedFlat pulverized]]'' by Snatcher's SpiderTank landing on top of him]]. And unlike most deaths on this page, theirs are almost entirely [[BlackComedy played as jokes]].
* ''WesternAnimation/KungFuPanda2'':
** ''Kung Fu Panda 2'' is significantly [[DarkerAndEdgier darker]] than the first was. At first, the deaths are off-screen, but still pretty gruesome, like [[spoiler: getting blown to bits by a giant cannon, and being ripped apart by wolves]]. However, the one that really takes the cake is [[spoiler:the Wolf Boss]]. Shen throws a knife in his throat onscreen. Given that up to that point all deaths happened off camera and the generally cartoonish and larger than life violence, it was very shocking to see such a graphic, cold-blooded killing. Immediately after being hit by the knife, however, [[spoiler:the Wolf Boss]] exits the movie, so a corpse is never seen, but heavily implied.
** Then of course, there's the genocide of the pandas which, while relatively low-key, is ''still genocide''. [[spoiler: The death of Po's mother stands out, as we last see her leaving baby Po in a radish basket, running off-screen with the wolves chasing her, and then [[NothingIsScarier nothing much else]] but Po's crying and [[HellIsThatNoise the sound of Shen's throwing knives right after she runs off]] as the scene fades away.]]
* ''WesternAnimation/TheLandBeforeTime'' has the villain Sharptooth die after he's hit by a falling boulder and knocked into a deep lake, where he's simultaneously drowned and crushed. Earlier on, Littlefoot's mother dies from a bite to the spine -- on-screen (mostly shadows), but you can see the bite, see the wound, and Littlefoot and the viewer watch her die in agony.
-->'''Littlefoot:''' [[PleaseWakeUp Mother]]... ''[[TearJerker mother?]]''
* ''WesternAnimation/TheLastUnicorn'' had several moments of horror that were sure to cause sleepless nights -- Mommy Fortuna's freak show gruesome death at the claws of a harpy and a giant fanged bull made of fire that seemed to trample over herds of beautiful unicorns.
* ''Animation/LeafieAHenIntoTheWild'' shows the one-eyed weasel dragging the body of [[spoiler:Wanderer's mate]] away by her neck and also has the brutal fight between Wanderer and the one-eyed weasel. Despite this, the English dub still censored the non-graphic ending where [[spoiler:[[TheHeroDies Leafie dies]].]] [[spoiler:[[HeroicSacrifice For a selfless reason]], but still a pretty grim one.]]
* ''The Mouse and His Child'' is best known for the animated film faithfully based off Russel Hoban's strange, metaphoric novella. Both the book and movie are essentially ''Film/AIArtificialIntelligence'' for kids. In the movie, a pack of nasty Rats have an army of enslaved abandoned wind-up toys. When one of them breaks down, Manny (Peter Ustinov), the Rats' leader, gives the toy a mock-sympathetic speech -- and then, he sends for another Rat to demolish the toy for spare parts ''as ιτ pleads for its life.''
** Manny then goes on to smash the titular characters ''to pieces'' with a huge rock. They get better. A Muskrat the characters had befriended earlier puts them back together -- but we get to watch as he does so. The incongruously cheerful song playing over the scene just makes it creepier.
*** This sequence of events is rather different in the original book. There, the Mouse and his Child got smashed to pieces when an hawk dropped them from a great height. The one who fixed them was Manny Rat. (His HeelFaceTurn is much less ambiguous here than in the film.) As for Muskrat, he was [[HoistByHisOwnPetard squished by the tree he had the mice chop down.]]
* At the end of ''WesternAnimation/TheNightmareBeforeChristmas'', BigBad Oogie Boogie actually gets his burlap "skin" torn off his body by Jack Skellington, causing all but one of the insects that make up his body to fall into the lava (the one that ''didn't'' is instead squashed by SantaClaus).
* ''Film/OsmosisJones''
** Thrax pokes a white blood cell with his immolating claw, causing the cell to ''boil inside-out.''
** Thrax dies a horrible, melting death in a glass of alcohol (having previously bragged about killing three people, including a little girl).
* [[Creator/TimCurry Drake]], the main villain of ''WesternAnimation/ThePebbleAndThePenguin'' (also by Creator/DonBluth) was dispatched with a boulder on the head. The boulder crushes him completely. In fact, the underside of the boulder can be seen when it rolls off a nearby ledge and there is nothing on it (there's still no blood however).
* Ruber from ''WesternAnimation/QuestForCamelot'', when he tries to impale Kayley and Garrett with Excalibur that was merged to his hand minutes earlier with his magic potion, but ends up missing the two, because they moved away at the right time, replacing the sword back into the stone for where it came from. The stone's magic and power begins to flare up on Ruber as it rapidly flashes around him. The stone begins to purify Excalibur back to its normal self where the process ends up dangerously disintegrates Ruber to his goriest death on-screen. Leaving behind Excalibur for Arthur to reclaim, and one of Ruber's shoulder pads to fall back down to earth.
* Subverted in ''WesternAnimation/{{Rio}}'' where [[DragonInChief Nigel]] appears to have been shredded alive by the airplane's propellers at the end, but it's later revealed that he survived only to have lost all of his feathers in the process. He reappears in the sequel, now part of a BigBadDuumvirate, wearing a sweater to cover himself.
* At the end of ''WesternAnimation/{{Robots}}'', [[spoiler: Madame Gasket]] is [[HoistByHisOwnPetard shredded alive inside her Chop Shop grinder]].
* ''WesternAnimation/TheSecretOfNIMH.'' Along with all the implied animal deaths at the N.I.M.H. laboratory, The Great Owl rather graphically dispatches a GiantSpider by crushing it under its foot and eating it. The deaths in the final act were little better, particularly that of [[spoiler: Nicodemus]], who gets hit with a pulley by [[spoiler: Jenner]] and knocked off a rock before being crushed underneath a falling breezeblock, and [[spoiler: Jenner himself]], who gets hit in the back with a thrown knife after graphically slashing [[spoiler: Sullivan]]'s throat.
* ''WesternAnimation/TransformersTheMovie'': [[KillEmAll Most of the first two seasons' cast]] has [[DroppedABridgeOnHim bridges dropped on them]] in very graphic and sadistic manners, not counting those who died offscreen.
** Scavenger shoots Prowl, the blast going inside him and reaching Prowl's insides, causing him to effectively ''burn from the inside out'' with fire blazing from his mouth endlessly ''directly at the camera.''
** Ironhide has his computer-brains blown out execution-style by Megs.
** Optimus gets blasted and stabbed a dozen times (supposedly the fatal wound was due to a stab) while Hot Rod is held hostage.
** Kranix and another Lithonian are fed to the Sharkticons. Although mostly offscreen, we still get to hear him screaming in agony as he's eaten alive.
** Gears (maybe) and several other captured Transformers inside Unicron are dissolved in an acid bath.
** The Conehead Seekers get chomped by Unicron's robot form ([[UnexplainedRecovery though they got better for Season 3]]).
** Starscream takes a direct hit from Galvatron's cannon mode, burning him to a cinder with a look of agony on his face, before disintegrating.
** Ultra Magnus gets blown to pieces (originally was going to be drawn and quartered), [[DisneyDeath although put back together shortly after]].
** Shockwave was supposed to be stomped by Unicron, but they cut out the shot.
** Red Alert was also supposed to die by being shot in the back by Devastator, but that scene was never animated.
** The first 5 minutes of this movie show an entire planet of robot people sucked into Unicron's hungry maw, chewn up, and used as fuel, in other words, ''genocide''.
* ''WesternAnimation/WereBackADinosaursStory'' starts out as a cutesy story about talking dinosaurs. It ends with a BigBad, who ran a CircusOfFear, being eaten alive by crows.
* ''[[AnyoneCanDie Any]]'' [[PunkPunk Stitchpunk's]] death in ''WesternAnimation/{{Nine}}''. They have their soul ''ripped from their body, whilst screaming and flailing about''.
* ''Franchise/DisneyAnimatedCanon'' (see also Website/{{Cracked}}'s [[http://www.cracked.com/article_16795_7-most-terrifying-disney-movie-deaths.html 7 Most Terrifying Disney Deaths.]]):
** ''Disney/{{Bambi}}'' (1942). Bambi's mother is shot dead by hunters when she and her son are looking for food in the winter snow. A whole generation of kids was traumatized. Now, movies for kids should not be all sanitized pink happy affairs. But the death of a parent is quite disturbing to any six-year-old. This one is fairly famous for all the denial associated therewith. It gets worse. Originally, Bambi was going to go back later, and find his mother ''lying in a pool of blood'', but the idea was scrapped, both because it was too cruel and because [[FridgeLogic it wouldn't make sense for a hunter to score a deer and then just leave it in the woods]].
** ''Disney/{{Fantasia}}'': "The Rite of Spring" featured an epic dinosaur battle that ends with a T-Rex (who is little more than a jaw full of knife-like teeth and a pair of mad red eyes) strangling the life out of a stegosaurus under a storm-filled sky. Later, all the other dinosaurs slowly starve to death as they march through an endless desert. Before both of those examples, a [[GiantFlyer pteranodon]] can be seen getting snatched out of the air by a [[SeaMonster mosasaurus]], which proceeds to slowly drag it [[NeckSnap head first]] into the water.
** ''Disney/SleepingBeauty'': After Prince Phillip hurled the Sword of Truth right into Dragon!Maleficent's chest, you can see blood slowly seaming out just before Maleficent makes the final plunge at Phillip. But he moves out of the way, allowing the dragon to tumble off the cliff and into her forest of thorns. Black and purple smoke fill up the screen, and the next shot from Phillip's view is just only the [[NoBodyLeftBehind shredded cloak of Maleficent]] left on the ground with the sword sticking out on top. This is the known goriest death that Disney has ever done in history.
** Subverted at the end of ''Disney/TheJungleBook'', where at first Baloo appears to have died a gruesome death at the hands of Shere Khan, but then it turns out that he survived.
** ''Disney/TheBlackCauldron'':
*** [[spoiler: The Horned King is absorbed into the cauldron as his clothing and flesh are sucked into the pot, and finally explodes as a disturbingly smiling skeleton]].
*** Scenes of the Cauldron Born tearing apart the Horned King's living minions were cut to keep it from getting an R rating.
** In ''Disney/TheGreatMouseDetective'', after a drunken henchman calls him a rat, Prof. Ratigan (who insists on being thought of as a "really big mouse") feeds the hapless minion to his enormous (by mouse standards) [[RightHandCat pet cat]]. This is shown by having the henchman just sitting on the ground, singing to himself, as the cat walks up behind him, picks him up, and [[ShadowDiscretionShot he's devoured]], without even seeing it coming (granted, he ''was'' drunk). It cuts to a shot of some of the other henchmen taking off their hats, one even shedding a few tears, while Ratigan wipes his precious kitty's mouth with a hankie and asks if she enjoyed her tasty treat- the 'treat' in question being of a species ''he'' claims to be.
** In the ending of ''Disney/OliverAndCompany'', Roscoe and [=DeSoto=] are knocked off the speeding car onto the subway tracks and electrocuted to death, followed by Sykes plowing head-first into the train, killing him in a fiery blaze. It's telling to note that they switched to the "[[DisneyVillainDeath Villain Falls to His/Her Doom]]" ending for years after this.
** ''Disney/TheLittleMermaid'':
*** Flotsam and Jetsam get hit by a stray blast from the trident, and explode into tiny fragments of flesh, bone and eyes. [[PetTheDog And since Ursula actually loved them]], [[MamaBear this winds up pissing her off]].
*** Ursula's death. Eric comes up from behind her using a sunken ship and [[ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice rams the mast through her stomach with the point sticking out of her back]], while being shocked by the power of the trident, seeing [[XRaySparks her skeleton flashing a few times]] before sinking into the sea and disintegrating. You can even see her pieces sinking to the ocean floor.
*** [[WhatCouldHaveBeen The original draft of the above scene]] originally had Eric wrestle the trident from her long enough to "oblige" her when she demands he give it back... by tossing it right through her heart (This eventually made it into ''VideoGame/KingdomHeartsII'', though the trident was turned into a beam of light to obfuscate it being an impalement).
** ''Disney/BeautyAndTheBeast'':
*** During the castle fight the wardrobe jumps off a second story balcony on to a guy. This is a comedy fight so you normally wouldn't think about it, that is until we cut back to see the wardrobe fighting someone else with the mangled corpse of the guy she killed on the ground... It's [[AvertedTrope averted]] if you think he was just knocked out, though.
*** There's also the Beast's death after being stabbed in the back by Gaston (who falls off the roof into a canyon seconds later), the placement of the wound and the way he struggles to breathe makes it clear he has a punctured lung and slowly bleeds to death/drowns in his own blood in Belle's arms (an ''agonizing'' way to die). It's okay, though, [[ThePowerOfLove he got better.]]
*** It was also originally intended that Gaston would have suffered this trope: Specifically he would have survived his fall, albeit with a broken leg, and ended up encountering the wolves from earlier. Apparently, they felt it was too gruesome even for someone like him. This specific death does end up getting used with [[Disney/TheLionKing Scar and the Hyenas]], however.
** ''Disney/AladdinTheReturnOfJafar''. After [[HeelFaceTurn face-turned]] Iago drops Genie Jafar's lamp into some boiling lava, to quote someone else's description of the scene, "He gets all these shocks like lightning through him for at least a minute or two of film, showing his skeleton, his face in agony, screaming and crying for a long time, burning, and then explodes into ashes."
*** Ironically, his final death (at the end of a crossover episode with ''Disney/{{Hercules}}'') had him dragged back to the Underworld after Herc and Aladdin broke his [[SoulJar staff]] in two (according to [[EverybodyHatesHades Hades,]] it's the only thing that can keep Jafar out of the Underworld as much as he wants).
** ''Disney/TheLionKing'':
*** Mufasa's death; watching him fall, screaming to his death while his son watches is bad enough, but then we have Simba's [[PleaseWakeUp repeated pleas for him to "wake up, Dad"]] while desperately nudging his corpse is simultaneously the most shocking and depressing moment in the entire movie.
*** The fight between Simba and Scar ends with Scar being eaten alive (or at the very least being mauled to death) by his hyena henchmen ([[ShadowDiscretionShot cast in shadow]], but still). The sequel makes it even worse by implying that he might have been burned to death as well.
*** ''Disney/TheLionKingIISimbasPride'' had Nuka die by being crushed by logs because he wanted to show off to his mom, since he wanted her appreciation. Zira fell to her death after refusing help. In a deleted scene, she ''committed suicide''. The fan-base is divided on whether it was best to change it.
** In ''Disney/TheHunchbackOfNotreDame'', Judge Frollo falls to his death off of a crumbling gargoyle and into a pit of molten copper. It may be clouded by smoke, but it is certain that he died from the impact only to have his corpse immolated. Not to mention there are strong implications that this was the result of DivineIntervention. All in all, it's a [[KarmicDeath very fitting death]] for [[Monster/{{Disney}} one of Disney's cruelest villains]].
** ''Disney/{{Mulan}}'' had Shan Yu blown to bits by several fireworks lit by Mulan and Mushu.
*** Not to mention the majority of the Huns being ''crushed to death by an avalanche.'' And while it's technically ''done'' off-screen, the charred remains of the village in the mountains are still ''shown'', and it's pretty NightmareFuel-worthy.
** ''Disney/{{Tarzan}}'':
*** Kerchak and Kala's infant son is a little too energetic and curious for his own good when he chases a frog while his parents sleep, and he runs into the leopard Sabor. Sabor pounces on him and the movie cuts to his devastated parents' reaction when he shrieks as Sabor kills and devours him.
*** We see the mother ape happen upon the treehouse Tarzan's family built. She goes in curiously and we find it a bit too quiet. She soon see why, the place has been trashed and the bodies of Tarzan's family are seen next to a set of bloodied pawprints on the floor.
*** Clayton (pictured above) gets tangled up in a cluster of vines high in the trees, and then proceeds to cut his way out of them, all the while the vines are tightening around his neck. Unfortunately for him, he cuts one too many vines and falls to his death. While the film does cut to a GoryDiscretionShot, lightning flashes and we can see Clayton's hanging silhouette on a nearby tree.
** ''Disney/{{Dinosaur}}'':
*** Carnotaurus, before attacking the nest Aladar's egg is located in, actually mauls a Pachyrhinosaurus to death. Another one does this to a RedShirt Iguanodon later in the movie, and you can see it devouring the corpse while Bruton fights off the second one.
*** At the end, Kron as a result of him not listening to Aladar ends up climbing a dangerous ravine and is mauled to death by the Carnotaurus.
*** [[spoiler:Bruton's is even worse. He gets stuck in a cave-in, and struggles to run out while boulders crash down on him. He eventually gets buried, and Aladar uncovers him only for Bruton to twitch a little, then die.]]
*** [[spoiler:They cut fairly quickly from the carnotaur's corpse, but the lighting makes it look like it was ripped in half from the fall.]]
** A WhatCouldHaveBeen example--in ''Kingdom of the Sun'', the prototype for ''Disney/TheEmperorsNewGroove'', Yzma would have received her KarmicDeath by being ''[[KillItWithFire incinerated by the sun itself]]'' and [[NotEnoughToBury reduced to ashes]].
** ''Disney/AtlantisTheLostEmpire'' has [[spoiler: Rourke turned to crystal and [[LiterallyShatteredLives shattered to pieces]] by propeller blades. Although some might overlook this compared to how graphic it would have been if he ''hadn't'' been turned to crystal.]]
** ''Disney/BrotherBear'':
*** At the very beginning, Sitka, Kenai's oldest brother is killed in a fight against [[spoiler: Koda's mother]], who she corners on a glacier, and as she is about to go after Denahi and Kenai, Sitka performs a HeroicSacrifice and uses his spear staff to break the ice, causing the glacier to collapse into the water below. His antlered hood and his totem pendant are all that is found by his brothers, who were desperately searching the water for him.
*** Later, Kenai as revenge for killing his brother, actually goes after [[spoiler: Koda's mother]], and stabs her to death, prompting Sitka's ghost to turn Kenai into a bear as punishment for his wrongdoings.
** In ''Disney/ThePrincessAndTheFrog'',
*** Dr. Facilier is ''[[DraggedOffToHell dragged into voodoo-hell --]]'' screaming and struggling-- by his "Friends on the Other Side" when it's apparent his plan to pay off his "debt" to them is foiled for good. Then, they go out on their way to show his gravestone, with his face on it. It's even worse if you look at how they animated his eyes during that scene. Most Disney villains meet their end with a little gasp and a look of surprise or a BigNo; as Facilier reacts to his talisman breaking with a LittleNo followed by a BigNo, you can see him realize clearly before his friends even show up that he is about to die horribly. Even to adults, it's incredibly unsettling to watch the man have a VillainousBreakdown and ''beg for his life'' as his "friends" kill him. Even Tiana is visibly horrified as she watches.
*** Plus, [[spoiler:Ray being stepped on]]. Really not the kind of thing you expect in a Disney film, especially with it ultimately subverting the DisneyDeath trope.
** ''Disney/{{Tangled}}'':
*** At the end, Gothel ends up [[NoImmortalInertia crumbling into a pile of dust due to Rapunzel's hair being cut]].
*** [[spoiler: Flynn being stabbed to death should qualify. Granted, he got better, but that doesn't change the violent death scene.]]
** In ''Disney/WreckItRalph'':
*** [[spoiler:King Candy A.K.A. Turbo gets ''eaten alive'' by a Cybug. That's pretty Family Unfriendly right there, but then it turns out one family unfriendly death is not the end for him and he goes all OneWingedAngel. Fortunately, Ralph defeats him (as well as all the other Cybugs) by causing the Diet Cola Volcano to erupt. Since "Turbo" is now just a Cybug with Turbo's memories, the Cybug's programming takes over and he starts flying into the geyser. Last thing we see of Turbo is him glitching between a hypnotized "King Candy" and his real face, which is screaming in horror as he ''flies into the geyser and immolates himself''.]]
*** King Candy manages to convince Ralph that, if Vanellope is promoted to playable status, the players will see her glitches and assume the game is broken, forcing the arcade to decommission the machine. While player characters and [=NPCs=] will manage to evacuate safely, glitches like Vanellope ''won't'', and will get sucked alive into a painful black hole of deletion, along with the game environment.
* Creator/{{Pixar}}:
** ''WesternAnimation/ToyStory''. That poor action figure Sid blew up during his introductory scene in the first film, therefore making him the only character in the series to be killed off permanently.
** ''WesternAnimation/ToyStory2''. Buzz Lightyear at the beginning of the film gets disintegrated to death after Emperor Zurg blasts off his upper torso. [[spoiler:This is when the entire sequence turns out to be a video game played by Rex]].
** Hopper's end in ''WesternAnimation/ABugsLife''. Lured near a bird's nest, grabbed, then presented to the bird's babies as they gather under him chirping in anticipation with him screaming all the while. Granted it's nature, but still....
** In ''WesternAnimation/TheIncredibles'', Mr. Incredible tosses a car at Syndrome, causing him to go flying into the engine of his jet plane where his cape gets caught in a propeller, where he is quickly pulled into the engine and chopped to pieces before the jet explodes (granted the moment of death was off-screen it was still pretty gruesome to think about). Earlier in the film, Edna Mode listed a number of superheroes who had met their untimely demise on account of their capes getting hung, [[{{Foreshadowing}} one of which just so happened to get sucked into a jet engine]]. ''{{Anvilicious}}'' foreshadowing. Even more so when you realise that it means that little bits of flesh and blood and bone would be raining down over the neighbourhood for a few minutes afterwards. Also, every time a hovercraft exploded with a Mook inside.
** ''[[WesternAnimation/{{Cars}} Cars 2]]'':
*** [[spoiler:Rod "Torque" Redline's engine is made to overheat and explode, though it's only shown as a vague reflection]].
*** An earlier scene has secret agent Leland Turbo [[spoiler:shown as a crushed car cube]].
** ''WesternAnimation/WallE'':
*** GO-4's death. We're shown how sentient and cute robots can be. Then one of them falls a few stories and smashes on the ground. Evil or not, it's still amazingly graphic for a robot.
*** It may have been a DisneyDeath, but seeing WALL•E getting quite graphically ''crushed'' in one, swift motion was pretty cringe-worthy.
*** The steward bots that try to prevent WALL•E's group from getting to the holo detector. One of them gets blasted by EVE, one gets defibulated to death, and the rest get smashed into scrap metal after WALL•E cuts the restraints on the massage bot.
** In ''WesternAnimation/{{Up}}'', the main villain Charles Muntz [[DisneyVillainDeath plummets to his death from an airship that is about 1000 feet above sea level.]] Interestingly, they sent a few helium-filled balloons down with him, presumably so that if the viewer so chose, one could imagine the villain catching those balloons and securing a softer landing.
** ''WesternAnimation/{{Coco}}'':
*** [[spoiler:Héctor's death. He is poisoned by his colleague Ernesto, collapses in the street, and dies in what is shown to be a quite painful way.]] What makes this more disturbing is that ''[[GoryDiscretionShot it's all shown on screen.]]''
*** Ernesto died by getting crushed by a giant falling bell during one of his concerts.
* ''WesternAnimation/JonnysGoldenQuest'':
** Zin's Replicants, made from deformed, failed clones, melt in horrifyingly gooey ways, screaming and thrashing all the while, after a certain amount of time.
** [[spoiler:Jonny's mother Dr. Rachel Quest falls into a volcano.]]
** Besides this, the Replicants also die in a variety of violent ways in action scenes. The gleefully violent manner in which they're disposed of throughout the movie is quite disturbing ventures into WhatMeasureIsANonCute territory.
** Zin's robot shoots Dr. Devlon with its laser, disintegrating him, and we ''actually see his skeleton briefly before it burns into ashes''. [[spoiler:The fact he is at this point supposedly Jessie's ''father'' makes it even more horrible.]]
* ''WesternAnimation/JonnyQuestVersusTheCyberInsects'':
** Many Quest Station scientists are seen shot and killed in firefights with the titular cyber insects.
** The cyber insects themselves are, like the Replicants in ''WesternAnimation/JonnysGoldenQuest'', routinely killed off in violent, gooey ways as well, being blown up, splattered, frozen and shattered, and so forth. Race at one point shoots one repeatedly until it falls over and dies screaming.
** Zin kills 427 "for failing" (when it wasn't actually his fault) by locking him inside a freezing chamber and freezing him solid. When he opens the door, 427 falls out and smashes on the ground.
* In ''WesternAnimation/TheNutcrackerPrince'', both the Mouse Queen and the Mouse King's deaths were pretty graphic. The Mouse Queen dies when a large pillar falls on top of her and you can see her flattened body underneath the pillar. Towards the climax of the film, the Mouse King is stabbed in the chest by Hans and you can see the blood stain over his chest where the wound is. [[spoiler: Doesn't help when the Mouse King tries to go after Clara towards the end of the film, even though he is dying from the wound.]]
* The film of ''Literature/WatershipDown'', especially the scene at the end when the dog gets loose, bites into a rabbit mook and shakes it with blood spraying everywhere.
** [[spoiler: [[DeathByAdaptation Blackavar]] getting his throat torn out by Woundwort]].
* The film of ''Literature/ThePlagueDogs'' has a man call over Snitter, intending to pet him. Snitter jumps on to the man, his front paw catching on the trigger of a gun the man unfortunately has pointed at his face, [[IJustShotMarvinInTheFace blowing the man's head off]].
* Bruma in ''Animation/ElArca'' is ''crushed to death by a hippopotamus''. If she was still alive after ''that'', she and said hippo, along with a unicorn and Xiro's parents may have drowned instead.

* In ''Film/AgentCodyBanks'', the main villain's head is eaten/melted by raging nanobots which escaped from an icecube placed in his mouth. Since this was a Family Movie, only part of this was shown. Possibly made even nastier by the villain basically being murdered by [[Music/HilaryDuff Lizzie McGuire]].
** One of the many elements that mirrors ''Film/TheTuxedo'', in which the main villain has the queen water strider (bugs that make water dehydrated) thrown down his throat, and the other bugs fly down his throat, causing him to grotesquely shrivel up.
* In Stephen Sommers' adaptation of ''Film/{{The Jungle Book|1994}}'', the antagonists suffer rather horrific deaths: the first [[spoiler:sinks in quicksand]], the second [[spoiler:falls and splatters his brains (offscreen)]], the third is [[spoiler:mauled by Shere Khan]], the fourth [[spoiler:gets buried alive in a tomb]] and the main one [[spoiler:dies while being attacked by Kaa underwater.]]
* ''Franchise/MarvelCinematicUniverse'':
** In ''Film/CaptainAmericaTheFirstAvenger'' we get a rather graphic (and gory) shot of a HYDRA mook getting thrown into a airplane propeller. At least, it goes fast enough not to show any organs -- just a [[PinkMist gigantic spray of blood]]. Still very unsettling though. The film establishes very early on that it's not going to be 100% family friendly though. The first death shown is already quite graphic.
** Going into ''[[Film/CaptainAmericaCivilWar Civil War]]'', many people correctly guessed [[spoiler:based on Arnim Zola's speech in ''[[Film/CaptainAmericaTheWinterSoldier Winter Soldier]]'', that the BrainwashedAndCrazy Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier killed Howard and Maria Stark on HYDRA's orders]], and weren't surprised to see it play out on film... but because it was [[spoiler:passed off as a garden-variety car accident]], it still caught them off-guard by really, really living up to this trope ([[spoiler:they both survive the accident itself and the camera doesn't cut away at all from their subsequent violent murders, complete with Howard [[TearJerker recognizing his]] [[FamousLastWords old war buddy]]]]).
** ''Film/AvengersInfinityWar'' takes it UpToEleven with [[spoiler:Loki's death. Thanos picks him up by the neck and begins to crush his windpipe. There's no GoryDiscretionShot either. It's completely onscreen. You see Loki's eyes bulge and become bloodshot and [[BloodFromEveryOrifice blood come out of his mouth, nose and eyes]]. And you hear the SickeningCrunch of his neck snapping.]] And this is all in the ''first ten minutes of the movie!'' It gets worse later when [[spoiler:Thanos sacrifices his own adopted daughter Gamora in exchange for the Soul Stone. He hurls her off a cliff, and we are treated to a long shot of her lifeless body laying on the ground in a puddle of green AlienBlood.]] Not to mention [[spoiler:the infamous EpicFingerSnap. It may not have been painful for anyone, but it killed literally trillions of innocent people -- maybe even more!]]
* ''Film/{{Ghost}}''. The dark shadowy [[TheGrimReaper reaperlike figures]] which take the villains to hell.
** One of the villains is crushed between two cars, and the main one is stabbed through the stomach by a pane of broken glass.
* [[spoiler: Snape]]'s death scene in ''[[Film/HarryPotterAndTheDeathlyHallows Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2]]'' is even more graphic than the book, with Voldemort slashing [[spoiler: Snape]]'s throat open with Sectumsempra then having Nagini finish him, with blood splattering on the walls. Ironically, those writers cut [[spoiler: Wormtail]]'s death scene due to "suicide" (which it technically wasn't) being too "graphic."
** It's debatable as to which is more graphic. In the book Nagini bit him several times and, while no blood is specifically stated to have splattered, it did gush from his mouth, ears, nose and eyes, along with the memory that Harry has to collect and put into a phial for evidence. And there is a discretion shot in the movie.
** From the same film, [[spoiler: Bellatrix's]] death. In the book, [[spoiler: Molly]] simply hit her with an unidentified spell that killed her instantly. In the film, a spell causes her corset to tighten (likely crushing her internal organs and ribs) and is hit by another that blows her into embers.
* ''Film/TheHungerGames'' has its share of this. The tracker jackers are probably the worst.
* ''Film/JackTheGiantSlayer'': [[spoiler: Fallon has a beanstalk grow from within him, causing his body to burst and send giant chunks of him flying.]] Also, several humans are either crushed under foot or have their heads bitten off.
* The ''Franchise/JurassicPark'' series has had quite a few nasty deaths.
** ''Film/JurassicPark'':
*** Gennaro, who is eaten by the Tyrannosaurus rex. He screams as he's grabbed in her jaws and swung around violently like a rag doll, his legs flopping back and forth. It's the only human death that happens completely onscreen, and although it's bloodless, it's still pretty frightening.
*** Muldoon is jumped on by a raptor and torn apart. While it's mostly [[DiscretionShot hidden from view]] by some bushes and a cutaway to a second raptor watching, Muldoon's high-pitched shrieking is pretty disturbing to listen to. Plus, if one does a frame-by-frame of the shot of the raptor actually ''on'' Muldoon, we can see that she has his head in her jaws.
** ''Film/TheLostWorldJurassicPark'':
*** Eddie is literally [[HalfTheManHeUsedToBe torn in half]] by the two Tyrannosaurs after being pulled out of his car.
*** Dieter is mobbed by compys in an extended sequence that involves them repeatedly swarming over him, complete with closeups of them biting his face (especially his lips). He manages to shake them off and run away, only to fall behind a fallen log. The compys all swarm over the log and we hear Dieter being attacked and killed behind it, and then see blood flowing out [[BloodIsSquickerInWater through the stream]] behind it. Like Muldoon, he dies cleanly offscreen, but the sequence is so protracted that it's disturbing to watch.
*** Carter, who is stepped on by the mother T-rex, crushed, and sticks to the bottom of her foot like a bug. When his flattened corpse finally gets, ugh, scraped loose, we see it floating in a mud puddle (mercifully face down).
*** A dinosaur example involves the raptor Kelly kicks out a window being [[ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice impaled]] on a huge splinter of wood.
*** There's also a dog who gets eaten by the escaped father T-Rex.
*** Ludlow. The way he pitifully mumbles "Wait, wait!" before the T-rex bites his legs and feeds him to the baby is a bit painful to watch, even if the actual death occurs offscreen.
** ''Film/JurassicParkIII'':
*** Cooper gets snatched up and eaten more or less onscreen by the Spinosaurus, complete with his blood splattering all over the plane windshield.
*** Udesky is attacked offscreen by some raptors. The other characters hear his screams, and when we cut back to him, he's crawling along the ground, obviously injured, and a raptor puts its foot on his back and jabs its toe claw into his spine, making Udesky scream in pain. He's finally finished off when one of the raptors grabs his head in its mouth and twists, [[NeckSnap breaking his neck]].
** ''Film/JurassicWorld'':
*** The Paddock 11 worker who gets killed by the Indominus rex. Although it's only shown very quickly, we see her ripping his legs off while she's eating him.
*** Nick the Paddock 11 supervisor is eaten without any DiscretionShot. Although it's surprisingly bloodless, he's the first human death shown completely onscreen, and we do see his blood all over the I-rex's mouth when she's trying to sniff out Owen under the crane.
*** ACU Commander Hamada is picked up by the I-rex and held in her hand screaming until she drops him into a river. He flails about, nearly drowning, before surfacing, taking a grateful gulp of life-giving air... only for Indominus' GiantFootOfStomping to come down and crush him flat.
*** Indominus' fight with the ACU is filled with family-unfriendly deaths, such as crushing men with tree trunks and eating a guy while ripping him apart. It's mostly hidden behind some branches and the glare of sunlight filtering through the canopy, but blood does rain down copiously through the leaves.
*** The death of the Ankylosaurus the I-rex fights is a pretty graphic, getting slashed and bitten, with bloody claw marks, before she finally just breaks its neck.
*** The ACU trooper in the helicopter dies when a Pteranodon stabs its beak through the windshield, impaling him through the chest. It's quick, but very brutal.
*** Zara, Claire's personal assistant, is grabbed by some Pteranodons, who throw her around among themselves before dropping into the water, where they continue diving at her and pecking her until the Mosasaurus swims up and eats both her and one of them. Again, it's bloodless, and Zara in the Mosasaur's mouth is rather strategically hidden by the body of the Pteranodon she's being eaten with, but it's so protracted and she endures so much (rather like Dieter Stark in ''[[Film/TheLostWorldJurassicPark The Lost World]]'') that these small blessings don't make her demise any less horrifying.
*** Hoskins gets his hand bitten by Delta, and screams while looking close to tears. We get a GoryDiscretionShot of his blood splattering on the window, but it's still pretty brutal.
*** Charlie the raptor gets violently blown up by a soldier's rocket launcher, reducing her to LudicrousGibs.
*** Echo is thrown through a window into a restaurant, where she lands on an industrial grill, which immediately explodes, incinerating her.
*** Delta is grabbed in the I-rex's mouth and flung away. That may not ''sound'' particularly nasty, but it's clear the larger dinosaur's teeth sink pretty deep into her, with a meaty muffled biting noise, and she instantly goes limp in Indominus' mouth, and so it's her lifeless corpse I-rex throws away.
*** Indominus rex herself, finally, after being slashed and bitten and left a clawed, bloodied mess from her fight with Rexy and Blue, is seized by the neck by the Mosasaurus and dragged underwater to die while shrieking pitifully.
* ''Film/TheLoneRanger'': [[spoiler:The Lone Ranger's brother has his heart cut out and eaten by Cavendish]]. It's a SoundOnlyDeath as all we can see is John's horrified ReactionShot, and the audience only have their imaginations and the earlier rumors of [[spoiler:Cavendish's cannibalism]] to guess what's happening.
* ''Film/ManOfSteel'' has Nam-Ek ''graphically'' pulling a jet pilot out of his seat before he can eject and decapitating him with a huge cloud of blood right after. It's a FreezeFrameBonus, but a rather gruesome one that went by the censors.
* An infamous deleted scene from ''Film/TheMask'' was going to have the BigBad kill Peggy by crushing her to death using a printing press instead of Stanley Ipkiss after the latter is forced to give up the titular Mask so that the villain can become the Mask himself. Peggy then emerges out of the printing press as a newspaper written entirely in red ink, has a picture of her screaming, and is entitled "Reporter Killed in Freak Accident."
* ''Film/MastersOfTheUniverse'' sees Saurod getting zapped by Skeletor for [[YouHaveFailedMe failing]] to capture He-Man. He screams as he's enveloped in a blinding red light that slowly disintegrates him.
* ''Film/MerlinsShopOfMysticalWonders'', featured in ''Series/MysteryScienceTheater3000''. During the course of the movie, Ernest Borgnine relates trauma-inducing stories to his young, wide-eyed grandson -- stories which include the death and immolation of innocent animals; evil, possessed monkey toys who rain death and hellfire on all around them; old ladies being killed by lightning, and worse.
* While being hilarious at the same time, Captain Amazing and Casanova Frankenstein's horrific [[BodyHorror mutating deaths]] in ''Film/MysteryMen'' were something that would keep you awake at night.
* ''Oliver!'' has the death of [[spoiler: Nancy]]. Not only was she one of the nicer characters, her death was the result of cold-blooded murder at the hands of her boyfriend. Specifically, he beats her viciously with a club. There is a discretion shot, but you see the club being repeatedly raised and brought down, while you can hear [[spoiler: Nancy]] scream in absolute agony.
** Later in the film, you see Bill shot while tying a rope around his waist on a roof. His body then swings around in the air. Granted, this was toned down from how he died in the book, but still.
* ''Film/MyFavoriteMartian'' sees the protagonist's love interest [[VoluntaryShapeshifting turning herself into a giant green bug/lizard thing]] to save him from two {{Mooks}} delivering a NoHoldsBarredBeatdown. She tosses one thug across the room [[ExplosiveInstrumentation into a computer console that explodes into sparks on impact, obviously killing him]]. And when the second thug panics and tries to run away, she cuts off his escape, still in her alien form, and '''[[EatenAlive swallows the guy whole as he screams his head off]]''', and just lets out a big burp and shrugs it off like nothing happened.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TP5_EoEhwoE Description doesn't do it justice. Watch the scene for full effect.]]
* ''Franchise/PiratesOfTheCaribbean'' has plenty, even though it's BloodlessCarnage (some deaths are both weird and traumatic, such as the guy Davy Jones impales with his tentacle beard).
* For a Creator/{{Disney}} film (and not of a subsidiary, but Disney itself), there's a fair bit of this trope in play, in ''Film/PrinceOfPersiaTheSandsOfTime''. As with ''Film/RevengeOfTheSith'', this film earns its PG-13 rating.
* ''Film/RaidersOfTheLostArk'': The decompressing/melting/exploding faces from the finale ([[spoiler:Belloq]]'s face explosion was considered too graphic by the ratings board that it had to be partially obscured by a column of fire; not to mention all the Nazi soldiers get zapped by the power of God ("or something"), including one suffering a direct hit in the eyes) and the [[GiantMook huge German soldier]] who gets a little too close to the plane propeller.
** Every Indy movie has had this. ''Film/IndianaJonesAndTheTempleOfDoom'' had the GiantMook (Who incidentally, was the same actor in the classic trilogy) being slowly pulled under a steamroller-esque crusher ''while he frantically screams, cries, and writhes in agony''. Yeeergh. Indy even tries to save him. ''Film/IndianaJonesAndTheLast Crusade'' has Donovan [[BodyHorror aging and rotting away in seconds]]. ''Film/IndianaJonesAndTheKingdomOfTheCrystalSkull'' has Russian soldiers being incinerated by the thrust of a ''rocket motor''. Later, we get men being eaten by killer ants (including the new GiantMook who is ''dragged down while still half alive'') and the main villain first getting her eyes set on fire (think [[Franchise/StarWars General Grievous]]) courtesy of some alien super-knowledge pouring into her brain, and then being disintegrated right after an alien gives her a DeathGlare (unworthy of the knowledge? Or maybe that alien ''really'' hated Communists).
*** In fact, ''Film/IndianaJonesAndTheTempleOfDoom'' was one of the primary reasons that the PG-13 rating was created in the US.
*** If you think the movies are bad, then look at the comics. ''VideoGame/IndianaJonesAndTheFateOfAtlantis'' has the God Machine victims (the villains who use the machine to achieve immortality). The end result is the twisted combination of face melting and BodyHorror. It makes ''Raiders'' look like ''Pokémon'' by comparison. This was in the AdventureGame version, too.
*** ''The Iron Phoenix'' has Indy and one of his companions captured by a cult of Druids. They kill the companion by splashing a potion on him that makes vegetation gorily erupt from his body. Indy escapes by dumping the potion on the Head Druid.
** The sacrifice scene from ''Temple of Doom''. First a poor sap is strapped to a metal grid and gets his heart slowly torn out by the evil priest. Then, while 'still alive'' (the [[BeatStillMyHeart beating heart]] in the hand of the priest), he gets flipped over facing the ground. A trapdoor opens, releasing smoke and red light reminiscent of hellfire. Then he gets lowered into the lava below, and just as he's about to be dipped, the camera switches to the priest's hand; where the heart suddenly ignites and burns to ash as the victim dies. And also he screamed all the way through the scene.
*** There's pretty much two of these in each of the original trilogy. One for the gruesome death of the GiantMook (chopped up by the plane's propeller in ''Raiders'', crushed under the roller in ''Temple'', can't-be-arsed-to-remember-what in ''Crusader'') and one for the supernatural nastiness that invariably shows up (The melting faces in ''Raider'', the pulling out of the heart in ''Temple'' and the rapid aging of Donovan in ''Crusader'').
*** Pretty sure nothing happened to the guy's character in ''Last Crusade'', unless Vogel had him executed for laughing at him when he got pitched out of the zeppelin by Indy.
** Don't forget the death of Colonel Vogel in ''The Last Crusade'', where the tank he's sitting in the cupola of rolls off a cliff, and we can clearly see his ragdoll-like body being tossed about and bashed against the rocks as the tank bounces to a stop. Earlier, one mook is tossed onto the exposed treads of the tank and promptly rolled to the front like on a conveyor belt and crushed. In ''Raiders'', the driver of the truck carrying the ark was thrown out the front, and we get a view of his body twitching and flailing as the truck runs him over.
* 1985's ''Film/ReturnToOz'' has the witch trying to take Dorothy's head, and the desert that turns you into sand.
** After the Nome King swallows an egg, which is poison to nomes, slowly falls apart, eventually becoming a skeleton-like stone before collapsing entirely, and his human-like eye turns into a rock, giving him a creepy blank stare as he's dying.
* ''Film/RevengeOfTheSith''. Anakin [[WouldHurtAChild cutting down the younglings at the Jedi Temple]] gets a VillainyDiscretionShot, but remains chilling. Ki-Adi-Mundi, Aayla Secura, and other victims of [[ThePurge Order 66]] are executed on-screen; when Aayla falls after she is shot, the clone troopers continue shooting her, causing her body to jerk and roll around on the ground. And Obi-Wan leaves a burning, screaming Anakin to die on Mustafar. There's a good reason why the movie ended up rated PG-13 instead of PG like the rest of the series.
** And of course, the Clones don't exactly have the most favourable deaths either. One that stood out was after his space fighter is destroyed, we see the Clone pilot's lifeless body floating in space amid the wreckage of his craft.
** [[OffWithHisHead Count Dooku's execution]] also counts.
*** Given all the other violence in the film, Count Dooku's death was swift and painless.
** General Grievous as well. Dying by having (what is left of) your body being set aflame doesn't seem at all fun (with the coup de grace having his ''eyes explode'' before he falls over dead).
** Don't forget [[KickTheDog that kid Jedi who gets shot down]] in front of a screaming Bail Organa. Yikes.
** [[Film/AttackOfTheClones Jango Fett getting beheaded]] by Mace Windu and having his body slump lifelessly to the ground definitely counts, while [[LegacyCharacter his son]] watches no less.
** Despite the other films having a PG rating, they also had plenty of graphic scenes as well;
*** The strangling of Captain Antilles in ''Film/ANewHope''.
*** Although Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru were killed off-screen, their [[http://blastr.com/2010/09/image-of-the-day-charred.php charred corpses]] were surprisingly graphic; rumour has it that Lucas deliberately included a shot of their burned bodies [[AvoidTheDreadedGRating in order to avoid a G rating, which would have put teenagers off seeing the film]].
*** The idea that anyone that is unlucky enough to end up in the Sarlacc's stomach will be kept alive whilst they endure the pain and suffering of being digested over a period of a thousand years. And then we see our heroes [[WhatMeasureIsAMook knocking as many henchpeople as they can into the thing's mouth whilst they make their escape]].
*** [[Film/TheEmpireStrikesBack We see the Wampa devour Luke Skywalker's Taun-taun]].
*** ''Film/ReturnOfTheJedi'' has Jabba's Rancor. Unless you happen to be a Jedi, you ain't getting out of that pit alive... or in one piece (the Rancor bites a guard in half before swallowing him). We get to see this happen to an unlucky Gammorean guard. The same thing happens to a GreenSkinnedSpaceBabe earlier, although they don't show it, we just hear her screams.
*** Darth Maul's death in [[Film/ThePhantomMenace Episode One]], where he gets sliced visibly in half by a lightsaber. We watch the two halves fall down a pit.
*** Averted as Maul later returned very much alive in ''[[WesternAnimation/StarWarsTheCloneWars Star Wars: The Clone Wars]]'' and ''[[WesternAnimation/StarWarsRebels Star Wars Rebels]]''.
*** Rumor has it that the infamous decision to have Greedo shoot first was "necessary" to preserve the film's PG rating. Han's unflinching first strike was apparently PG-13 worthy.
** ''Film/TheForceAwakens'' could give ''Film/RevengeOfTheSith'' a run for it's money, being the second PG-13 installment. We see a village massacre, a beheading, the destruction of an ''entire system,'' (from their point of view, no less. The terror is visible.), and the death of [[spoiler:Han Solo]], one of the most beloved characters in cinema history. Yikes.
* ''Film/{{Scrooged}}''. The Bill Murray ''ChristmasCarol'' movie, yes. It's creepy enough when Frank, down in the sewer after he's had his visit with one of the ghosts, finds the frozen corpse of the bum holding the wristwatch, but not as bad as Frank's coffin being fed into the crematory with him "alive" inside it.
** This "graveway to hell" sequence may have been borrowed from the Albert Finney musical version 13 years earlier. But, as Charles Dickens himself says in ''Muppet Christmas Carol'', "It's all right -- this is culture!"
* Averted in ''Film/SpiderMan2'', with the death of Mrs. Octavius. Jagged glass flew at her at incredible speeds, and yet Otto found an intact, wholly recognizable body. On the other hand, while the exact fate of the last nurse Doc Ock dragged under the table is not shown, one has a feeling she isn't screaming in fear of being knocked out.
** Played oh so very straight in the [[Film/SpiderMan1 first movie]]. When Green Goblin throws one of his pumpkin bombs at the executives who used their controlling shares to toss him out of his own company, they get ''disintegrated into skeletons.'' Goblin meets his own end in an unfriendly way as well, impaled by the blades of his own glider.
* In ''Film/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles2014'', to demonstrate the effectiveness of the poison gas to the captive Turtles, Karai forcibly gasses one of the Foot soldiers nearby, with the guy's skin basically melting off as he convulses on the floor.
* ''Film/{{Transformers}}''
** The film had its fair share of gruesome deaths. Bonecrusher and Frenzy both getting beheaded (in Frenzy's case, [[HoistByHisOwnPetard by his own weapon]]), and just look at the mess of what was formerly Megatron's chest after the Allspark is rammed directly into his spark.
** A soldier in Lennox's squad got impaled in his chest by Scorponok.
** And Jazz's death.
--->'''Jazz:''' "You want a piece of me? ''You want a piece?!''"
--->'''Megatron:''' "No! I want-" *tears Jazz in half* "TWO!"
* ''Film/TransformersRevengeOfTheFallen''
** [[Awesome/{{Transformers}} Optimus Prime tears The Fallen's face off of his robotic skull before punching through his chest and tearing out (and crushing) his spark core.]] As The Fallen's eyes flicker off, he sags to the ground, [[SymbolicBlood liquid metal dripping out of his mouth]]. As this happens, Optimus proclaims: "[[BondOneLiner I rise, you fall]]." Granted, The Fallen had been trying to use a Solar Harvester to drain the energy of Earth's sun and Optimus [[PapaWolf was defending the world]], but that doesn't change the gruesomeness of The Fallen's death.
** Ravage's death at Bumblebee's hands-in slow motion his SPINE is ripped out, goo hanging off it, then used as a club. Or even Grindor's robo-brains spraying all over the forest when his head is ripped in two by Optimus.
** And Jetfire crushing Scorponok's head flat with his fist. Devastator being blown into at least a dozen pieces by the railgun.
* ''Film/TransformersDarkOfTheMoon''
** Highlights include [[spoiler:Ironhide]] getting shot in the back with a Cosmic Rust gun and crumbling into dust as he writhes in agony, Laserbeak murdering humans left and right, [[spoiler:Megatron]]'s head getting split with an axe before being yanked free of his body with his spine still attached, and ''finally'', [[spoiler:Sentinel Prime]] being shot in the face while he's down, gangland execution-style.
** [[spoiler: Que/Wheeljack]]'s death, execution-style. Complete with rolling severed head. And before he was executed, he begged for his life.
** There is also [[spoiler: Starscream]] being blinded when both of his eyes are ripped out and then his head is blown up by a grenade dropped into one of his now empty eye sockets, [[spoiler: Soundwave]] having Bumblebee's arm cannon shot up through his chin and out the top of his head, and [[spoiler: Shockwave]] becoming the newest member of the Decepticons whose faces have been ripped off by Optimus Prime club.
** Then of course, there's the Wreckers ''tearing a helpless Decepticon limb from limb.''
** [[spoiler:Decepticons ''killing humans''. You see corpses of people who were probably commuting on their way to work in train carriages. Humans being skeletonized by Decepticons. One man gets shot by a Decepticon attack ship and all that's left is a skull bouncing along the street.]]
* ''Film/TransformersAgeOfExtinction''
** [[spoiler:Ratchet]] having his leg blown off and shot down until he's on the ground by Cemetery Wind soldiers, then having his spark torn from his body by Lockdown.
** Seeing [[spoiler:Lucas]] being turned into a burning metal statue by one of Lockdown's grenades.
** Finally, [[spoiler:Optimus kills Lockdown by stabbing him through the back with his sword before drawing it upwards and slicing the bounty hunter's head in two.]]
* ''Film/TwilightZoneTheMovie'': In "It's a Good Life", Ethel is eaten by a monster after Anthony transports her into a cartoon. As Anthony says, "Th-th-th-th-that's all, Ethel."
* ''Film/WhoFramedRogerRabbit''. Judge Doom gets [[HoistByHisOwnPetard doused by his own "dip"]] and screams in pain and horror as he melts into a puddle of goo.
** Watching him get run over with a steamroller wasn't exactly a fun thing to watch either. It may not have killed him, but we didn't know he would survive, and his agonized wails didn't exactly sound like "No worries, I'll be fine!"
** There was a scene earlier in the film where Doom callously picks up an innocent toon shoe nuzzling his ankle and slowly and tortuously dips it as it whines in terror[[note]] ''and'' that he dipped it in mouth first so that it couldn't scream, but its muted wailing and its eyes still managed to convey its pain quite well[[/note]], until nothing is left but a smear of red paint on his rubber glove.
*** So terrifying was that scene, that it was deemed necessary to be trimmed by BBC censors on its first time on TV.
* A lot during the BadFuture in ''Film/XMenDaysOfFuturePast''. [[spoiler: Iceman gets ''[[OffWithHisHead beheaded]] and melted'', Colossus gets ''[[HalfTheManHeUsedToBe torn in half]]'', Warpath's face is pulled into a heat beam during the FinalBattle. The girls are not spared either, with Storm getting ''brutally'' ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice, and Blink being sliced by a Sentinel's blade from her groin up to her neck.]]

!! Films -- Animated
[[quoteright:300:[[Disney/{{Tarzan}} https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/claytonfellfromsometree_6298.jpg]]]]
* ''WesternAnimation/AllDogsGoToHeaven'':
* ''WesternAnimation/TheBraveLittleToaster'':
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Frankenweenie}}'':
-->'''Joe:''' It. Becoooomes... '''HUUUMAAAAN!'''
* ''WesternAnimation/KungFuPanda2'':
-->'''Littlefoot:''' [[PleaseWakeUp Mother]]... ''[[TearJerker mother?]]''
* ''Film/OsmosisJones''
* ''Franchise/DisneyAnimatedCanon'' (see also Website/{{Cracked}}'s [[http://www.cracked.com/article_16795_7-most-terrifying-disney-movie-deaths.html 7 Most Terrifying Disney Deaths.]]):
* Creator/{{Pixar}}:
* ''WesternAnimation/JonnysGoldenQuest'':
* ''WesternAnimation/JonnyQuestVersusTheCyberInsects'':

* ''Franchise/MarvelCinematicUniverse'':
** Despite the other films having a PG rating, they also had plenty of graphic scenes as well;
*** The strangling of Captain Antilles in ''Film/ANewHope''.
* ''Film/{{Transformers}}''
* ''Film/TransformersRevengeOfTheFallen''
* ''Film/TransformersDarkOfTheMoon''
* ''Film/TransformersAgeOfExtinction''

All in all, it's a [[KarmicDeath very fitting death]] for one of Disney's [[CompleteMonster cruellest villains]].

** ''Disney/{{Fantasia}}'': "The Rite of Spring" featured an epic dinosaur battle where the viewers are treated to the delightful spectacle of a T-Rex (who is little more than a jaw full of knife-like teeth and a pair of mad red eyes) strangling the life out of a stegosaurus under a storm-filled sky. Later, all the rest of the dinosaurs slowly starve to death as they march through an endless desert. Before both of those examples, a [[GiantFlyer pteranodon]] can be seen getting snatched out of the air by a [[SeaMonster mosasaurus]], which proceeds to slowly drag the poor thing [[NeckSnap head first]] into the water.
