** Faith was originally supposed to be there for five episodes but managed to be such a fan favourite that she lasted right until the end. She would have even gotten her own show if Eliza Dushku hadn't declined in order to work on ''TruCalling''.

* ''Series/{{Arrow}}'': Felicity Smoak was originally meant to be a one episode guest appearance, until the executives and writers noticed the instant chemistry between Emily Bett Rickard's and Stephen Amell. The actresses performance alone bumped her up from a 2 scene only character to a staple and primary love interest for the series protagonist.

The actresses performance alone bumped her up from a 2 scene only character to a staple and primary love interest for the series protagonist. Unfortunately, in a case of TropesAreNotGood, she became a SpotlightStealingSquad and caused what started off as a fairly good ship to become a RomanticPlotTumor, [[BaseBreakingCharacter leading to most fans]] [[TheScrappy admitting that they no longer like her]] [[SeasonalRot after season 2]]. [[CreatorsPet Too bad the writers don't share the same opinion]].

* ''Series/TheCosbyShow'': While many people see Pam Tucker as an example of TheScrappy, you can also see her as a welcome bit of fresh air in a show, that would last only two more seasons anyway. So she's more of a BaseBreaker. Despite how the show always was set in New York, it wasn't until when Pam showed up in the 7th season, that we got a regular view of what it was like to live in a ghetto neighborhood. She had obviously had a rougher life than Cliff's and Claire's own kids, and she could be seen as much more down to Earth than her cousins.

** Janice is this. Although, being hilarious and annoying at the same time, she's also a BaseBreaker.
** Richard, for being one of the most decent and likable love interests. Like Janice though, he can fall into the BaseBreaker territory, since some people see him as TheScrappy.

** [[Comicbook/GreenArrow Oliver Queen]] first arrived in Season 6--fresh off a turn as the EnsembleDarkHorse on ''[[WesternAnimation/JusticeLeague Justice League Unlimited]]''--and quickly became a massive fan favorite character, especially since many fans viewed him as a more proactive hero than Clark, as [[VillainsActHeroesReact he actually sought out the bad guys rather than waiting for trouble to become visible]]. His popularity grew to such magnitudes that he was added to the regular cast in Season 8 and [[spoiler: got shipped with Chloe after fans--who'd been writing shipper fics for them since their first meeting--demanded it]]. However, he became something of a BaseBreaker later on as he took a much more dark method of crimefighting. A very similar effect happened with Chloe, as she started taking Orwellian steps to combat crime.

* ''Series/The100:'' Monty, though billed as a main character, has gotten the least amount of attention out of everyone in the main cast, and the fans love him for his NiceGuy tendencies in a CrapsackWorld.
** Miller is another one, who started off just as one of Bellamy's henchmen in the first season and slowly grew in importance. His [[WhenSheSmiles When He Smiles]] moments play a role.
