* Lampshaded word for word in the Franchise/SpiderMan comic "Reign", where an old-ified Spidey is saved from the now-registered-heroes Sinister Six, having been sicced on him by Venom in the first place (LONG story, and ItMakesSenseInContext), by the [[EmpathicWeapon disembodied tentacles]] of the long-dead Doctor Octopus.
** In another Spider-Man issue, the Sinister Twelve have him completely outmatched and surrounded- when out of nowhere Captain America appears with the rest of the Avengers and the Fantastic Four to turn the tides. At no point was it hinted that Spider-Man had requested help or that anyone other than him and Black Cat knew about the Sinister Twelve.
** In another story, Normie Osborn jr has been infected with Carnage's offspring and gone to kill Aunt May. With Spidey himself indisposed and his friends and allies occupied with Norman sr, May is saved by the timely arrival of... Doctor Octopus. Given recent stories, his motivation makes sense, but he hadn't been mentioned in the current story, and one must wonder if he was stalking May to have arrived so quickly.
