* Happen to many WCW wrestlers who joined up with the WWF/WWE following the closing of WCW. Save for Wrestling/JrWho possibly avoided this fate by not being part of the Invasion angle, Rey didn't sign with WWE until the following year, and to a lesser degree Wrestling/BookerT, none of them managed to find much success in the WWE. In fact, Booker T himself also happens to be a pretty egregious example since he went from being one of the top wrestlers near the end of WCW, to not receiving a decent push in the WWE for about 5 years despite being very over with the fans. Some believe Booker was robbed at Wrestling/WrestleMania XIX and should have won the title from HHH. This isn't really that surprising when most of the WCW top guys had contracts with Turner Broadcasting (which would become AOL Time Warner by the sale in 2001), not WCW, and therefore weren't included in the sale. Dallas Page (mentioned above) actually took a buyout at 50 cents on the dollar to join the Invasion angle just because he wanted to work, something he certainly regretted later.

He had signed with WCW sometime in early 2001 and was let go with everyone else that March, he worked a couple dark matches for WWE in 2002 but chose Wrestling/TNA over a WWE developmental deal (because they offered more money) and wouldn't show up in WWE until 2016, and he'd win the WWE world title the following year.

* This happens to many women's wrestlers, especially after their Playboy pictorials came out and everybody's already seen them naked. Wrestling/TorrieWilson suffered a very painful decline from "Top Tier" star to "Still on TV Every week" star to "In a stable" star to "maybe shows up on TV every once in a while" star. Wrestling/CandiceMichelle and Wrestling/MariaKanellis have similarly been released (though in Candice's case, her release was actually due to nagging injuries as she had gotten a title push years after her Playboy shoot). Non-pictorial-related Divas include Victoria, who went from top-tier WWE Women's Champion to a jobber to new girls before quitting. Wrestling/MollyHolly had all but vanished by the time she requested her release. WWE Divas such as Wrestling/KellyKelly, Wrestling/BethPhoenix, and Wrestling/Layla have been relegated to competing on the CShow Wrestling/WWESuperstars in favor of their male counterparts such as Wrestling/JohnCena, Wrestling/CMPunk, Wrestling/TripleH, Wrestling/AlbertoDelRio, Wrestling/RandyOrton, Wrestling/CodyRhodes, and Wrestling/Sheamus. However, it has been averted since the latter half of 2015 as the female wrestlers are getting more meaningful storylines as well as unique gimmicks thanks in large part to the ascent of the "Four Horsewomen" (Wrestling/Charlotte, Wrestling/SashaBanks, Wrestling/Bayley and Wrestling/BeckyLynch).

* Back on the subject of Cody Rhodes, he had been one of the top mid-carders from 2010 to 2013, including a couple of Intercontinental Championships during that period. But ever since becoming Stardust, Rhodes has been used mostly as a comedy jobber which included a tag team match against actor Stephen Amell and Neville at the 2015 [=SummerSlam=] PPV (which he and Wrestling/WadeBarrett lost, BTW). After appearing on Superstars and Main Event in the last several months, Rhodes left the WWE in May 2016, had a strong run in the indies which culminated in him helping start Wrestling/AllEliteWrestling, all of which cemented him as a top star. He subsequently returned to WWE in 2022 as a definitive main eventer and has remained at that level since.
%%Administrivia.ZeroContextExample* The majority of the WWE men's mid-card division has suddenly become this due to lackluster storylines and one-dimensional characters.

majority of the WWE men's mid-card division has suddenly become this due to lackluster storylines and one-dimensional characters.characters but there is now a renewed focus on the WWE Intercontinental Championship and the WWE United States Championship now that Triple H is in charge of creative. But thanks to the WWE Women's Evolution which saw WWE female talents getting more TV time, several male wrestlers such as Dolph Ziggler and Shelton Benjamin saw their roles reduced and were eventually released as a result.
