Between the two of them, they then [[CurbStompBattle curbstomp]] the rest of the Mane Six and their allies, even managing to [[spoiler: kill Grovi, Strauss, and Elo]] in the process. In order to keep the heroes alive long enough to become strong enough to defeat them, Luna is forced to [[spoiler:[[BreakingTheFellowship scatter them around the world]]]].

* In the DarkFic ''Echoes of the Dark'', [[TheHero Neptune]] gets transported to a MirrorUniverse where the [=CPUs=] are AlwaysChaoticEvil dictators. She decides to save the nations from the evil [=CPUs=] and prevent the Candidates from being [[TheCorruption corrupted]] by [[TheDarkSide Fearicite]]. This brings her much suffering and hardships, but the Lastation arc is the worst so far. [[spoiler:Neptune and her allies get captured on behalf of [[VillainWithGoodPublicity Kei]], turned into [[HeroWithBadPublicity Heroes With Bad Publicity]], and subjected to ColdBloodedTorture, Noire (who it turns out is not evil, just a LawfulNeutral KnightTemplar StrawNihilist who believes that HumansAreBastards) gets BroughtDownToNormal by Kei destroying her power source, Neptune gets infected by Fearicite by a MadScientist and has to fight off an EnemyWithin or she'll JumpOffTheSlipperySlope herself, and the Candidates (including Noire's sister Uni), as well as Uni's RobotBuddy Steamax, are [[ATorturedIndex tortured]], [[MindRape Mind Raped]], and {{Brainwashed}} to show UndyingLoyalty to Kei (which is a major TraumaButton for Neptune due to her [[MyGreatestFailure Greatest Failure]][[labelnote:*]]In ''VideoGame/HyperdimensionNeptuniaVictory'', Neptune's adopted daughter Peashy (who is one of the Candidates brainwashed here, for extra trauma points) was Brainwashed into working for the villains for ten years due to Neptune's selfishness and negligence[[/labelnote]]). Chapter 59 ends with Neptune and her allies tied up (with Neptune still being [[ShamefulStrip naked]] due to the aforementioned torture) and seconds away from being [[PublicExecution publically executed]] by the Candidates.]] [[spoiler:They are saved at the last second when it turns out Steamax managed to break free of the reprogamming due to his Undying Loyalty to Noire, and was only pretending to still be reprogammed so he could perform a BigDamnHeroes save. Noire manages to break the [[PowerNullifier Power Nullifiers]] placed on her and Neptune, as well as draw out most of the Fearicite corrupting Neptune and use it to [[SuperMode power herself up]] (since it was the remnants of Noire's Fearicite power source that was used to infect Neptune to begin with), which leads to an extended IKnowYoureInThereSomewhereFight against the Candidates. Neptune and her allies are eventually able to free the Candidates and defeat Kei and her forces, but at a cost: Noire dies by way of HeroicSacrifice to prevent a falling airship from wiping out all of Lastation, and it is [[TheReveal revealed]] that Kei - a normal human - had become corrupted by studying the Fearicite, meaning that not only is nobody safe from becoming just as bad as Kei, but the Fearicite's very ''existence'' is the reason this dimension is such a CrapsackWorld - the Fearicite has ben slowly corrupting every one for the past sixty years since its arrival.]]
