She began her career in the 1940s working on stage in the West End. In 1953, she replaced Joy Nichols in ''Take It from Here'', a radio comedy. She also appeared in many supporting roles in television until she got her first starring role as Rose Garvey in ''Beggar My Neighbour''. She then appeared on ''Scott On...'' from 1968 to 1974, started a close working relationship with Creator/TerryScott.

She began her career in the 1940s working on stage in the West End. In 1953, she replaced Joy Nichols in ''Take It from Here'', a radio comedy. She also appeared in many supporting roles in television until she got her first starring role as Rose Garvey in ''Beggar My Neighbour''. Neighbour'', with Creator/PeterJones ([[TheOtherDarrin and later]] Desmond Walter-Ellis) playing her husband.

She then appeared on ''Scott On...'' from 1968 to 1974, 1974 and started a close working relationship with Creator/TerryScott.
Creator/TerryScott. She played three of his long-suffering wives, them being Vera Baines in ''Bless This House'' in 1972, June Fletcher in ''Happy Ever After'' from 1974-79, and June Medford in ''Terry and June'' from 1979-87. During this time, she also had a starring role in the 1976 farce ''Not Now, Comrade'' as Janet Rimmington.
