Judith Furse, (4 March 1912 -- 29 August 1974), was a British character actress.

She studied theatre at the Old Vic at the start of TheThirties and was acting on stage by the end of the decade. Her first film role was as Flora in ''Film/GoodbyeMrChips''; rather a sympathetic role, it was far from the more overbearing roles she would later play in films such as ''Film/BlackNarcissus'', ''Film/DoctorAtLarge'' and three ''Film/CarryOn'' films, most notably as [[BigBad Dr. Crow]] in ''Film/CarryOnSpying''.

''Carry On Spying''.

Furse was a victim of {{Typecasting}}, forever stuck playing harridans and battleaxes in roles that never allowed her much depth. By the mid-'60s, her heart wasn't in acting as much as it was in the past, and the final film she appeared in was 1972's ''Film/TheAdventuresOfBarryMcKenzie''.
