James Edward Fleet, (11 March 1952), is a British actor best known for playing Hugo Horton in ''Series/TheVicarOfDibley''.

His acting career began in TheEighties, appearing in plays in the RSC. Earlier on in his career, had small roles in series such as ''Series/GrangeHill'' and ''Series/TheBill''. In 1994, he played Tom in ''Film/FourWeddingsAndAFuneral'' and Hugo Horton in ''The Vicar of Dibley'', the latter of which he appeared in every episode.

He voiced Dog in ''Dog and Duck'' from 1999 to 2001 and starred in ''Brotherly Love'' in 1999. From 2000 to 2006, he played Captain Brimshaw in the radio comedy ''Radio/RevoltingPeople''. Another prominent radio role from this time was as Duncan Stonebridge MP in ''The Party Line'' in 2005.

In 2010, he was cast in ''Series/CoronationStreet'' as recently released convict Robbie Sloan, who helped Tony Gordon plot revenge on his ex-wife Carla Connor, although he was eventually shot by Tony during a siege. In December 2013, he played Mr. Bennett in ''Literature/DeathComesToPemberley'', a drama based on characters from ''Literature/PrideAndPrejudice''.

In 2020, he reunited with the ''Dibley'' leading lady, Creator/DawnFrench, for a series of online specials called ''The Vicar of Dibley in Lockdown'', focusing on the UsefulNotes/Covid19 pandemic.
