Erich Segal (June 16, 1937 - January 17, 2010) was an American author, screenwriter, educator, and classicist best known for ''Literature/OnlyLove'' and the movie of the same name.

He was married to Karen Marianne James and they had two children.

Segal died in 2010 at the age of 72 years old due to complications of Parkinson's disease.
