His film role was in 1960 in ''A French Mistress'' which was followed by further films such as ''The Fifth Form at St. Dominic's'', ''Outbreak of Murder'' and ''Quick Before They Catch Us''. In 1969, he appeared in ''Film/BattleOfBritain'' in as Sergeant Pilot Chris, while on TV he had guest roles in ''Series/DixonOfDockGreen'' and ''Series/ZCars''.

He joined the cast of ''Hi-de-Hi!'' in Series 6 to fill the hole left after Creator/SimonCadell's departure. His character was a polar opposite to Cadell's - while Jeffrey was shy, reserved and had no people skills, Clive was a sly, charming playboy. Griffin remained for the end of the series, and would later tour with co-star Creator/SuPollard in ''The Good Sex Guide'' on stage.

In 1991, he joined the cast of ''Keeping Up Appearances'' in Series 2, as Emmet, Elizabeth's brother. Griffin's addition to the show was widely seen as a good move, and he would appear in 37 episodes of the show.
