She started acting when she was a teenager and make her West End debut in 1958. The next year she appeared in a film for the first time, an UncreditedRole in ''Six-Five Special'', followed shortly by her first credited role in ''The Shakedown'' the same year.

Douglas made her first appearance in the ''Carry On'' Series as Annie Oakley in 1965's ''Film/CarryOnCowboy'', and would go on to play three more roles in the series, finishing with 1968's ''Film/CarryOnUpTheKhyber''. The role of June in ''Film/CarryOnUpTheJungle'' was intended for her, but she decided to take a break from the series at that point and so Creator/JackiPiper took on the role and followed in her footsteps playing the young and pretty romantic leads.
