* ''Manga/FistOfTheNorthStar'' has the sacred martial art, Hokuto Shinken, which apparently comes with a specific technique for violently countering any attack as well as inducing KarmicDeath in any manner of villain (for example, if you garrotte people to death because you're evil, the right combination of pressure points will cause you to decapitate yourself with it). In an interesting example of characterization involving this trope, the later volumes see the main character relying less on cute special techniques to kill random Mooks and being content to merely punch them into pudding (unleashing your hidden brute strength is another of the style's techniques...)

It goes so far that the practitioners, no matter how strong they are, still actively train to improve their skills because there's a very small chance they could find someone even stronger.

** Kenshiro tends to kill {{Giant Mook}}s with the Hokuto Hyakuretsu Ken, a technique that hits an absolutely ridiculous amount of pressure points to [[YourHeadAsplode explode them]]. The reason why is revealed when Kenshiro uses it on Uighur, the [[WardensAreEvil warden of Cassandra]] and one of Raoh's strongest men, who has to be exploded ''twice'' to actually die: there's a few very large people who are so insanely tough a normal Hokuto attack can't explode enough of their bodies to put them down, but in this case the Hyakuretsu Ken causes at least another explosion some time later.

** PlayedForLaughs in a Short Mission chapter. Loid takes Yor out for a date on an assumption that she's angry at him for something (she was actually in horrible pain from being ShotInTheAss during an asassination job), and devises a total of 862 plans to be sure he won't fail. He ends up down to 68 plans because Yor doesn't want to take a cab and prefers to walk (because she knows that sitting down will make the pain even worse).

* ''Manga/MariaNoDanzai'': Maria gives Kumiru a lifeline to escape death: send a single text message to one person and hope that they rescue her before [[ThrownDownAWell the rope hanging her above an empty well burns]]. [[spoiler:Kumiru ultimately chooses to text Iijima, her partner in her [[HoneyTrap badger game scams]], only to immediately receive a reply telling her that he doesn't want to see her again. As it turns out, Maria had created a fake Twitter account to impersonate Kumiru, which she then used to belittle Iijima; when Maria showed it to him after they [[SexFaceTurn had sex]] mere hours ago, Iijima found it convincing enough. It's worth mentioning that the only reason Maria even met Iijima in the first place is because [[HoistByHisOwnPetard Kumiru sent him and his thugs]] to beat her up [[EvilIsPetty out of spite for telling her she would end up alone]], and that Maria was already planning to turn Iijima against Kumiru from the start; meeting him so unexpectedly [[IndyPloy merely forced her to speed up the process]]. After Maria explains all this to Kumiru, [[VillainousBreakdown the latter starts tearing up]] and accuses Maria of cheating]].
