* The British and French DVD covers for ''Film/ValhallaRising'' show a charging [[TheHorde Viking horde]]. It's also sold in a 2-DVD boxset alongside ''Film/{{Outlander}}.'' The film is actually a [[LeFilmArtistique slow-paced and hypnotic art film]] that is more in line with ''Film/AguirreTheWrathOfGod'' than the historic action flick it's presented to be. Some covers show the main character set against a desolate landscape, which is keeping more in line with the actual plot.

* Many covers for ''Film/{{Grease}}'' feature Sandy's black leather outfit in most of the pictures, giving the impression that's her typical style, rather than a radical departure from her usual style that she only wears for the last five minutes.

* 'Some DVD and VHS covers for 'Film/WillyWonkaAndTheChocolateFactory'' depict Charlie wearing a red sweater, when he actually wears a blue sweater through most of the film.

* In France the film for ''Film/DreamScenario'', an American BlackComedy, makes it look like a straight comedy. In particular it has yellow font on a blue background, which is very typical of French comedies.

* Invoked by the cover for ''{{Film/Heathers}}''. The poster and some of the DVD releases make it seem like a typical romantic teen comedy that was popular at the time (think anything by Creator/JohnHughes, with the movie itself even starting like one too [[spoiler: until JD pulls out a gun.]].

* ''Film/TheCaptain'': For some reason (driving the point home that it's set in UsefulNotes/NaziGermany?), foreign release posters of the film always add a swastika banner on the towed car with Willi Herold in it. There's none in the film (or on the original German poster, for that matter).

* ''Film/TwinkleTwinkleLittleStar'', a Hong Kong parody film released by Creator/ShawBrothers combines this trope with AdvertisedExtra. The [[https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0086609/mediaviewer/rm3597474560/?ref_=tt_ov_i main poster]] (which is also the artwork of [[https://www.yesasia.com/us/twinkle-twinkle-little-star/1002392526-0-0-0-en/info.html several VCD and DVD releases]]) depicts a gag early in the film, where an unnamed woman is subjected to a MarilynManeuver (she's in the film for around 70 seconds) but also shows a FlyingSaucer descending above her. Said saucer comes from a separate part of the film unrelated to the MarilynManeuver gag, and in fact occurs half an hour later with the woman on the cover art nowhere in sight.

Then again, the entire movie is [[RandomEventsPlot kind of screwy]] and [[ItRunsOnNonsensoleum hardly makes a lick of sense]].
