* ShoutOut: Cody Ziglar has said on Twitter that Miles' new [[spoiler:[[LaserBlade Venom-Saber]]]] superpower [[https://www.reddit.com/r/Spiderman/comments/1830m9i/cody_ziglar_explains_the_reason_he_gave_miles_his/ is a homage]] to similar abilities used by Kuwabara in ''Manga/YuYuHakusho'' and Vegito in ''Franchise/DragonBall''. Its name is an explicit sendup to [[spoiler:the beam sabers used in ''Franchise/{{Gundam}}''.]]

* CutLexLuthorACheck: Subverted. Rabble tried to refurbish used cell phones to sell for cheap in an attempt to make money, but her efforts went unrewarded as people opted to buy the latest models instead. This is DoubleSubverted by the fact that she could clearly build an Iron Man-esque suit of PoweredArmor, seriously upgrade the tech of other supervillains, and hack into school databases on a limited budget but [[spoiler:never thinks of trying to apply her skills to get into another technical high school when she loses the Brooklyn Visions lottery to Miles.]]

* EvilIsPetty:
** Rabble's vendetta against Miles is this in spades. [[spoiler:Raneem was a TeenGenius from an impoverished family who needed to get into Brooklyn Visions Academy for a chance at a better education but lost to Miles in the student charter lottery by a single number. But instead of focusing her rage at the system she herself describes as unjust for pitting the futures of children on a literal gamble, she attacks ''Miles'' and kidnaps his loved ones for "stealing" what she believes [[EntitledBastard should've been rightfully hers.]] When Miles resorted to offering [[TakeMeInstead his own life]] in exchange for leaving his family alone, Rabble vehemently refused because that would still make Miles the "Hero" of the story and she won't accept ''any'' outcome that [[XMustNotWin doesn't involve him losing everything]].]]
** Agent Gao's beef with Miles also has shades of this. Gao is a [[FantasticRacism anti-super bigot]] who genuinely believes in the SuperheroParadox but was willing to let Miles walk away from a crime scene since he had just rescued a girl from being ran over. But since Miles refuses to stop fighting crime afterwards even after she had threatened to put him behind bars, Gao starts using '''ANY''' legal justification she can come up with [[InspectorJavert to arrest or harass him]] [[TheLopsidedArmOfTheLaw even in situations where he should really be the]] ''[[TheLopsidedArmOfTheLaw last]]'' [[TheLopsidedArmOfTheLaw thing on her list of priorities.]] Following the events of ''ComicBook/GangWar2023'', she's so incensed by [[spoiler:Mayor Cage's dissolution of her Cape Killers program that she seeks out Rabble, an ArmsDealer and attempted murderer, for the means to take Spider-Man down.]]

* FaceOfAThug: Shift is a GentleGiant who wants to do good like his genetic template and brother Miles. But Shift's naturally grotesque proportions, shapeshifting powers, and inability to express himself vocally make him feared by the people he's trying to help.

** Thanks to Misty Knight and Colleen Wing, Miles is now formally trained in both [[IKnowKarate hand-to-hand combat]] and [[KatanasAreJustBetter Japanese]] [[HeroesPreferSwords swordsmanship]] respectively, which in combination with his already [[SuperpowerLottery formidable powerset]] has granted him the edge he needed to hold his own against opponents like Cletus Kasady and Hobgoblin. He's also developed a natural affinity for [[GreatDetective detective work]] in this run, to the point where even Misty _and_ Blade were impressed with his sleuthing skills.

* VillainTeamUp: Taking advantage of the EvilPowerVacuum spawned from New York's city-wide [[ComicBook/GangWar2023 Gang War]], Hobgoblin recruits The Prowler, The Enforcers, Shocker, Ricadonna, Goldbug, Man-Bull, Lady Stilt-Man, and Mr. Fish to help him seize control of Brooklyn as the new power base of his aspiring criminal empire. ''Giant-Size Spider-Man (2024)'' also reveals that Kingsley made an alliance with [[spoiler:Rabble, who survived her last battle with Miles but is now ''[[SanitySlippage even more unhinged]]'' due to the defeat at his hands [[PowerIncontinence causing her powers to go on the fritz]]. In exchange for Raneem becoming TheArmorer for Kingsley and his followers while helping the former hunt down Ashley Kafka, Kingsley promises Raneem a cure for her "condition" that will hopefully bring her powers back to their full potential.]]

* CommonalityConnection: PlayedForLaughs in Issue #10, Where Miles quickly picks up on Hightail's choice of Spanish phrases and asks if she's ''[[UsefulNotes/PuertoRico Boricua]]''[[note]]An informal way to refer to a person of Puerto Rican descent[[/note]]. Happens again during the ''Gang War'' event, where Gao allows Scorpion and Gust to help Miles apprehend Hobgoblin...but not before ''[[KickTheDog taking Misty and Coleen into custody]]'' since Mayor Cage [[LoopholeAbuse didn't explicitly deputize the duo to shield them from the Power's Act]].

Teaching him how to think and operate like a proper HardboiledDetective, stressing the necessity of [[CrazyPrepared having a plan for every situation]] instead of [[LeeroyJenkins running in blind]], while giving him the occasional [[WhoopiEpiphanySpeech word of wisdom]] as a fellow black superhero who has [[RookieMaleExperiencedFemale been in the game]] ''[[RookieMaleExperiencedFemale much]]'' [[RookieMaleExperiencedFemale longer than he has]]. [[spoiler:In the arc's finale, Misty decides to make it official and take Miles under her wing as an intern at her Detective Agency.]]

* ExposedToTheElements: Subverted. While fighting Frost Pharaoh's HumongousMecha, Miles' teeth chatter and he complains that he's freezing in his superhero tights as the mecha's FreezeRay is cold enough to freeze Miles' web-shooters shut without even hitting him.

* PoliceAreUseless: Agent Gao, the police officer Miles continually runs into, repeatedly shows up ''after'' the villains are dealt with to try and arrest Miles for property damage. She's willing to hire known assassins and supervillains like Taskmaster and the Scorpion as part of her CapeBusters while consistently failing to do more than clear the area of civilians or otherwise help people. Miles' patience with her is especially limited due to the events of ''ComicBook/{{Outlawed}}'' and they butt heads throughout the run.

* {{Hypocrite}}: Agent Gao lambastes Spider-Man for causing collateral damage in stopping supervillains like Scorpion... then she turns around and hires Scorpion as part of her CapeBusters, meaning that she doesn't care about property damage so long as ''she'' thinks it's justified. She also has no qualms about hiring known mercenary and assassin Taskmaster as well as [[PsychoElectro Electro]], though she at least draws the line at harming innocents.

* ByTheBookCop: New character Agent Gao is the leader of a PDNY tactical unit who has ''very'' little tolerance for and and his vigilante escapades, partly because he's in direct violation of the [[SuperRegistrationAct Powers Act]]. While she allows him to slip away from an active crime scene after saving a civilian from being ran over, Gao makes it painfully clear to Miles that she will [[InspectorJavert do everything in her power to put him in cuffs]] if she catches him in the streets again.

* Had a major one with ''ComicBook/{{Carnage 2022}}'' in the form of the ''ComicBook/CarnageReigns'' storyline.
* Issue #10 sets one up with ComicBook/Blade2023, where Miles teams up with both the titular Daywalker and his daughter/protégé [[ComicBook/BloodlineDaughterOfBlade Bloodline]] to deal with a new supernatural threat lurking in Brooklyn.

* BrutalBrawl: Whereas Saladin Ahmed's run was defined by fleshing out the titular wallcrawler's personal life via the WakeUpGoToSchoolSaveTheWorld trope, Cody Ziglar's self-admitted mission with this run is to put Miles ''[[TraumaCongaLine through the wringer]]'' by forcing him to fight tooth-and-nail against an [[SortingAlgorithmOfEvil increasingly dangerous set of adversaries]], all with the goal of making the Spider-Man [[HadToBeSharp step up his game]].

* {{Crossover}}: Will have one with ''ComicBook/{{Carnage 2022}}'' in the form of the ''ComicBook/CarnageReigns'' storyline.

* EleventhHourSuperpower: In the climax of his final battle with Rabble in Issue #5, Miles [[spoiler: channels his bioelectricity to form a LaserBlade with AbsurdCuttingPower, which he uses to slice through Raneem's swarm of [[AttackDrone Attack Drones]] like a hot knife through butter.]]

* VillainHasAPoint: Downplayed. So much it could be seen as a subversion. Rabble's vendetta is portrayed as an [[EvilIsPetty extremely petty]] grudge, but her complaint about Miles squandering his opportunities at Brooklyn Visions has some truth to it, as he's been consistently portrayed as a BrilliantButLazy student with more tardy slips than attendance because his vigilante life is the priority. Miles himself also greatly sympathizes with Rabble's grievances against the education system, agreeing with her that it isn't right that they're forced to live in a society where their futures are decided by a literal game of chance. But the simple fact that Rabble decided to take out her frustration [[MisplacedRetribution on Miles]] in spite of not being the one at fault and refuses to listen to reason no matter how many times Miles and his friends desperately try to plead with her, renders both of these points pale in comparison to [[CutLexLuthorACheck Rabble's own]] [[TargetedToHurtTheHero vile actions]].

* LopsidedArmOfTheLaw: Agent Gao makes it very clear that she intends to put Spider-Man in handcuffs for his destructive superheroics... while also hiring known assassin and mercenary Taskmaster as part of her CapeBusters even when Taskmaster is making jokes about stabbing people.
