* NotSoStoic: He was angered so much when Apollo asked how much hatred he was hiding to the point where he attempted to finish him and Rops off with Zeno's ultimate spell, until Zeno convinced him otherwise. He is also [[spoiler: moved to tears when he sees Zatch taking in his suffering to free him from it.]] He ends up [[spoiler: in tears again when the family who's child he cures shows him gratitude. The emotional experience moves him deeply and being shown genuine care makes him weep once more.]]

* SmallRoleBigImpact: Kolulu lasts only a single chapter/episode, but meeting Kolulu gives Zatch and Kiyo a drive to win the Mamodo battles and gather like-minded competitors to ensure that the future Mamodo King is a kind ruler who will ensure that no one would have to be forced to fight against their will like she was.

* TookALevelInKindness: In a flashback, it's revealed that Brago used to be much more violent and aggressive than he is now and firmly believed that VirtueIsWeakness and that ThePowerOfHate was the only way to awaken the spellbook's true power. When he first met Sherry, he had no problem hitting her when she acts in a way that he perceived as weak and even threatened to kill her butler if she wouldn't listen to his demands. Over time, he definitely mellows out, becoming more focused, calmer and more compassionate.

* StopOrIShootMyself: When she first met Brago, when it became clear that he only saw her as a tool to win the war with and tried kill her butler to get his way she responds by coldly threatening to slit her own throat if he wouldn't comply with her orders, pointing out that he couldn't use his spells without her and making it clear that ''she'' was the one calling the shots here. It's implied that this event had such an impact on Brago that it was the beginning of his CharacterDevelopment from a violent and selfish brute to a stern but noble warrior.

* CanonImmigrant: He and Eido started off as anime-only filler characters with barely two appearances, but apparently were memorable enough that the author ended up including Hyde as one of the Mamodo who helps Zatch in the FinalBattle, thereby confirming that he and presumably Eido were part of the battle to become king.

* DramaticallyMissingThePoint: He turns on Tia because, as the contest can only have one winner, every other Mamodo is his enemy. Though only one Mamodo can win, cooperation is vital to gaining an edge and every major player in the battle, even the strongest Mamodo, have at least one or two allies. In fact, the structure of the contest pairing every Mamodo with a human partner suggests that the eventual king being able to team up and collaberate with others was part of the point of the battle.

This is seemingly an ''actual'' transformation on both sides rather than an illusion or brainwashing, disrupts the victims' abilities in many ways and forces them into speaking nothing but the word "Kanchome". Like with Dima Buruk, he can focus his willpower to command the clones and so he must selectively transform his enemies into the form most useful to him.

* WrongGenreSavvy: Initially, Kanchome and Folgore believe that Kanchome's power is shapeshifting, with Kanchome's first two spells either transforming him into imperfect doppelgangers or shrinking him into the size of a mouse. It's revealed later on, starting with his third spell, "Dika Poruk", that his powers are actually ''illusions'', as "Dika Poruk" creates an illusionary version of a giant Kanchome with the real Kanchome hiding from behind.
