Accidentally published when I was still typing it. What I meant to say it doesn't really cause any continuity errors because it was never confirmed in the show that they really are sisters and that they don't just call themselves that because they are a coven. Icy even says in Season 8 "We call each other sisters but we are not". And while them being sisters was the original intention, it was only confirmed in a creator statement, never in the show.
