Okay! I think I\'m doing this right. This probably looks weird but it\'s okay, all of it is on the subpages.

Notable persons and organizations of Nexus and the ''VideoGame/WildStar'' universe.

! The Exiles

[[folder:Exiles as a group]]

->''"Y'all know about the Dominion, right? Well, them bastards like to cause trouble; they ain't starting a war on your planet, then they're probably blockading it with their starships, or ravaging it with their frikkin' machines! Anyway, since a bunch of us got run off our homeworlds, we figured it would be a good idea to join forces and that's how the Exiles came to be! The end!"''

A rag-tag alliance of the Exile Humans, Granok, Aurin, and the Mordesh, united by the loss of their homeworlds by the Dominion, their search for a new home, and their desire to make the Empire pay.
----
* TheAlliance: A tenuous one, but still pretty strong.
* ArmyOfThievesAndWhores: There is little honest work out in the Fringe.
-->'''Thayd NPC:''' The Dominion may have resources, but we Exiles have ingenuity! Well, that and we keep stealing their stuff.
* {{Determinator}}: They've survived three hundred years aboard a crumbling, battered fleet.
* FightingForAHomeland: They intend to make Nexus their new home, and they're willing to fight for it.
* {{Foil}}: To the Dominion.
* GenerationShip: Lived on board the starships, with many inhabitants sleeping in [[HumanPopsicle Cryo Sleep]], for approximately 300 years after their ancestors were either rebels of the Cassian Civil War or exiled from their homeplanet.
* LaResistance: How the Exiles initially started out before more races joined them.
* OrderVersusChaos: Exiles' Chaos to Dominion Order.
* {{Outlaw}}: They're pretty much considered this by the Dominion.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: Well, so far they've managed to start a (planetary) war with Falkrin, [[spoiler: started a squig apocalypse in Whitevale]], and many times they accidentally reactivated Eldan sites with [[UnwillingRoboticization Augmentators]] and numerous weapons.

!Races

[[folder:Humans]]
!!Exile Humans
->''"Let me tell you about us--humans, that is. We are stubborn folk, ain't the kind to back down from a fight! And '''no''' we ain't inbred! (Most of us, anyway...)"''

300 years ago, Admiral Serrick Brightland, tired of the Dominion's oppression of its own people, staged a rebellion. With numerous allies and the strength of the common people, they managed to break away from the Dominion, though they are now wanted criminals and forever on the run.

The Exile humans are the descendants of those rebels, trying to make a living and get the Dominion off their backs. They are stubborn, hard-working, and generally portrayed as being more practical than their Cassian counterparts.

Exile Humans prefer solving their own problems, and judge a person's worth based on how much weight they can carry on their back. Spending three hundred years isolated on a crumbling fleet with four other races has slowly bled out any and all Cassian sophistication and mannerisms, letting their British accents fade into American and Southener accents in the process.
----
* DeepSouth: For whatever reason, the British and Cockney accents from Cassus eventually evolved into American and Southerner accents. A little like in real life actually.
* DefectorFromDecadence: Their origin story.
* TheLeader: They get along well with the other races of the Exiles and are, in many ways, the heart that keeps the motley group together.
* LukeNounverber: Typical Exiles Human's surname are based on this trope compared to Cassian's [[CanisLatinicus Pseudo-Latin]] surnames along with Lowborn's Noun-based ones.
* OhMyGods: Patriarch Serrick Brightland fits this purpose, despite being a mortal. "''Brightland's Beard!''" or "''By Brightland's Beard!''" are both common.
* SouthernFriedGenius: The Exile humans have no shortage of intelligent persons, all of which still speak and act like stereotypical Southerners.
* SpacePeople: Being on the run from Dominion for 3 centuries on GenerationShips caused them to become adapted to life in space.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Aurin]]
!! Aurin

->''"Then there's the Aurin. You might call them scrappy, protectors of nature and the like? They also got these big furry ears, and tails... some people are into that. Yeah I know: weird."''

Hailing from Arboria, a lush, verdant planet in the midst of the desolation and seediness of The Fringe, the Aurin are a peaceful race of hunters, safeguarding the ecological balance of their planet, with the help of an empathic link to plant life. The Exiles accidentally stumbled upon the planet during a search for resources, and the two quickly became friends.

The Exiles were careful not to leave any tracks back to their Aurin friends, but you can only hide from the Dominion for so long...

Their planet now ravaged and occupied by the Dominion's Planet Reapers, the Aurin fight to protect Nexus forests and eventually, take back their homeworld from the Dominion.
----
* BerserkButton: Do not mess with nature or they will ''gut you.''
* BizarreSexualDimorphism: {{Downplayed}}, but still very apparent.
** Interestingly, Aurin males are the shorter of the species. This also reflects in their society, as females are the ones in power.
** Females also have more outlandish ears than males. While males all have reasonably realistic (by our standards) ears, females can get bat-wing and angel-wing ears, and it's oftentimes been commented on that they look more like novelty headbands than a functional body part.
* EarthyBarefootCharacter: Many of the Aurin [=NPCs=] go semi-barefoot. Players can, too, if they toggle off shoes in the costume menu.
* FantasticSlurs: "(barely sentient) Tree Rats"
* KillerRabbit: They are adorable. They are also ''blindingly'' lethal when ticked off.
* LittleBitBeastly: Despite their elongated limbs, shorter stature, and feline eyes, many still see the Aurin as just humans with animal ears and tails.
* OhMyGods:
--> ''By the sacred bloom of the Mother Tree!''\\
''Mother of the Matriarchs!''
* OurElvesAreBetter: They fit the nature-loving "Wood Elf" subtype. Despite this they were capable of advancing there technology and rival the Chua and Mordesh in Science.
* {{Polyamory}}: Aurin often have multiple lovers. Matriarchs don't marry, but may have multiple consorts ([[BiTheWay male and female]]).
* PsychicLink: All Aurin have an empathic link with nature, being able to communicate with trees and "The Weave," the life energy that connects all living things.
* SpaceElves: Long-eared arboreals with a deep connection to the "magical" forces of the world. And akimbo mag-pistols.
* VitriolicBestBuds: With the Mordesh. While they still consider them creepy, they are shown to be more than willing to work with them, oftentimes striking up odd friendships. They will also tolerate the Mordesh's experiments and needs to a certain extent, like drilling into the forests for Primal Life, an essential ingredient to Vitalus serum.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Granok]]
!! Granok

->''"Finally we got the Granok. They're big, tough, giant rock people, I mean they are '''bad'''-ass. Of course most of them got more boulders than brains! Yep, that means just what it sounds like."''

The Granok lived a simple life on Gnox, butting heads, getting drunk, and hooking up, in no particular order. And despite their tendency to exercise their muscles more than their brains, they actually developed rather effective--if primitive--war machines and were great military tacticians.

Hoping to harness this power for the Dominion, a Mechari ambassador was sent to Gnox to negotiate their assimilation.

The Granok responded by reducing said ambassador to scrap.

Thus began the War on Gnox, a lengthy, bloody engagement between the Dominion and their advanced technology, and the Granok with their primitive war machines and sheer, unyielding will. Heavy losses were sustained by both sides, but eventually, Laser Beat Rock... until a young warlord by the name of Durek decided to even the odds by stealing some of those fancy laser rifles.

The Elder Granok were willing to die at the hands of the Dominion, according to their sacred philosophy, the Way of Stone. By driving the Dominion off the planet, saving their species, and breaking said Way of Stone, Durek was christened the Stonebreaker and his fellow saviours exiled.

Nowadays, the Granok work as mercenaries for hire, mostly driving the Dominion off planets with the means to pay them.
----
* TheAlcoholic: Beer is a very serious business among the Granok, and "Brewmaster" is not a position you hold lightly.
* AmazonianBeauty: Female Granok. While they're a lot less bulky than the males, they are still solidly muscled.
* BashBrothers: Granok and Exile Humans get along quite well as they share the same stubborn temperament, sense of humor, and an extreme dislike for the Dominion.
* TheBigGuy: They are the muscle of the Exiles; happiest when they're boozing, hooking up, [[BloodKnight brawling]], or a combination of all three.
* BizarreAlienBiology: One occasionally sees Granok with huge chunks carved out of their faces and heads. The reason why this doesn't cause brain trauma? Their brains are in their ''necks''.
* BizarreSexualDimorphism: The male Granok look as you would expect: blocky, huge, with cracks in their skin from weathering. The female Granok, on the other hand, resemble muscular Greek statues with thunder-thighs.
* BrooklynRage: Many of them sport Brooklyn accent.
* DumbMuscle: ZigZagged. There ''are'' in fact, Granok scientists, but they do seem to be pretty rare or just unheard of. Like their EvilCounterpart, the Draken, they [[KlingonScientistsGetNoRespect just don't care for fancy,]] high-brow pursuits.
* ProudWarriorRaceGuy: The reason they're stuck with the Exiles: First they smashed the Mechari ambassadors to scrap, then Durek and his troops went against the tradition of Gnox and used 'dishonorable tactics' such as harnessing Dominion technology for their own benefit. Most Granok [=NPCs=] maintain the same defiant attitude.
* SiliconBasedLife: Granok are 'primal-earth' based organisms, what us humans would call silicone-based- though they have squishy organs on the inside.
* YouCantGoHomeAgain: The Granok on Nexus were banished from their homeworld by their elders. When the younger Granok raided Dominion bases for weapons and tech to fight off the invaders, the elders (who were ready to accept defeat and death) believed them to have betrayed their race's tradition (The Way of Stone), and cast them out.
-->''Who needs Gnox? We've got Nexus now.''

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Mordesh]]
!! Mordesh

->''"They call themselves the Mordesh. I call 'em weird and '''creepy.''' Infected with some kind of disease. That being said, they sure do know a lot about science, and alchemy and the like. Though from what I gather, it's the '''forbidden''' kind."''

One of the galaxy's most skilled alchemists, the Mordesh were renowned for their beauty, culture, and ability to bend the very laws of nature with their concoctions. It all came to a head when Victor Lazarin, arguably the most brilliant of the bunch, created the Everlife Elixir, a potion that granted instant rejuvenation and immortality.

Within months, however, the formula would prove unstable, turning into what is now known as the Contagion. Their bodies and minds started rotting while an insatiable hunger for flesh set in, turning them into violent cannibals christened "Ravenous."

The man who doomed his entire race eventually saved it--at least temporarily--with Vitalus serum, a compound that delayed the Contagion's effects. Immortal, and with only their supplies of the precious serum their limit, the Mordesh seek a cure for their curse.
----
* AddedAlliterativeAppeal: The Mordesh have a lovely lyrical and almost always alliterative style to their speech.
* ArtificialLimbs: Being constantly rotting and wasting away, more than a few Mordesh have had to replace their body parts with robotic versions. Every Mordesh also has a Vitalus delivery system, attached by replacing entire sections of their arms, joints, and chests.
* BlackSheep: Of the Exiles. They're generally regarded as creepy by their allies. Averted with the Aurin, whom are some of the top scientists of XAS along side them and are commonly seen making interspecies friendships with.
* DyingRace: Not only the Contagion ravaged their numbers, but it also sterilized them. In conclusion, the remaining non-Ravenous Mordesh may also be the last of their species.
* ExactWords: The Everlife Elixir did, in fact, grant them immortality, though not in the manner they wanted.
* FantasticSlurs: Do not call them "space zombies."
* ImmortalProcreationClause: Due to their consumption of [[FountainOfYouth Everlife Elixir]], they are effectively immortal had it not been for [[OurZombiesAreDifferent side effects]] and its ensuing inability to have children.
* OurZombiesAreDifferent: Mordesh became zombie-like as a result of the [[FountainOfYouth Everlife Elixir]] causing their bodies to decay quickly. Those who don't receive the Vitalus Serum after infection eventually lose their minds as well, becoming blood-thirsty flesh-hungry monsters.
* SpaceElves: Pointy ears aside, there's also their advanced culture and more reserved demeanour. Interestingly, elves are sometimes portrayed as immortal in fiction, while the Mordesh attempted immortality... with horrific results.
* TechnicallyLivingZombie: Mordesh never really died; they're just slowly rotting away.
* WickedCultured: Not even the collapse of their entire civilization, a horrific degenerative disease, and 80 years on the Exile fleet could stop them from being proper ladies and gentlemen.
* VitriolicBestFriends: With the Aurin, commonly observed arguing about science in regards to nature but as shown in Everstar Grove and Celestion are more then willing to fight alongside the Aurin due to sharing a viewpoint on the importance of preserving life.

!!Government

[[folder:Admiral Brightland]]
!! Admiral Serrick Brightland

Human. Patriarch of the Exiles, Admiral Serrick Brightland led his eponymous rebellion up until the Fleet escaped to the Fringe. After sustaining grave injuries beyond the skills of the Fleet's doctors, he was put into cryostasis to await the day they can bring him back to life.
----
* BadassBeard: Good lord. There is ''very'' good reason that the most common epithet is "Brightland's Beard!"
* DefectorFromDecadence: Was the one who instigated the first true Exile rebellions in the wake of the Dominions new, restrictive policies to keep things under control. As he was one of the most highly decorated admirals in the entire fleet, Brightland thew a ''lot'' away.
* HumanPopsicle: Presently in cryostasis.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Deadeye]]
!! Aron "Deadeye" Brightland

->''"I ain't the one to ask for help! Unless I ain't got a choice in the matter."''

Human. "The Last Brightland," and the human's representative in Exile government.
----
* BadassLongcoat: His main threads.
* {{Bounty Hunter}}: Worked as one after working as a vermin hunter since five years old.
* TheGunslinger: Prefers two pistols as his weapons of choice. He is a ''damn'' good shot with them, missing an eye or not.
* HeartbrokenBadass: During and immediately after the events of the Northern Wilds, has shades of this. While he'll still shoot most anyone who gets in his way or the Exiles, he's just not the same. [[spoiler:The holo memorial of his pregnant wife is very telling.]]
* TheLastOfHisKind: Thanks to the Brightland's perennial case of ChronicHeroSyndrome and a tragic accident that took his parents, Deadeye is also known as the "Last Brightland" until he and his wife Sadie have a child. [[spoiler:With said wife and child's ashes now scattered all over the Northern Wilds, the title has been reinstated.]]
* TheLostLenore: [[spoiler:Goes a little revenge crazy after his wife is killed during the Northern Wilds arc.]]
* {{Street Urchin}}: Became one on Exile fleet after [[DeathByChildBirth his mother's death]] at his birth and [[{{ExplosiveDecompression}} his father's death]] at five years old.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Queen Everstar]]
!! Queen Myala Everstar

->''"Hate to pull the "Queen" card on ya, but this is urgent!"''
->'''Voiced by Creator/KateHiggins'''

Aurin. Young and new to the throne, Queen Myala Everstar welcomed the arrival of the Human Exiles on Arboria, witnessed the Dominion ravage her homeworld and people, and was forced to abandon her people during the evacuations. Now she acts as one of the pillars of Exile government.

She wears a "Living Crown" on her head that allows her to maintain a connection to the Aurin and trees left back on Arboria, particularly the "Mother Tree."
----
* TheCutie:
** She has this "How do I queen?" vibe to her which is positively adorable...
--->'''Myala:''' Speaking on behalf of the Aurin people--which I think I can do!--thank you.\\
'''Myala:''' You're doing great! And you're, uh, gonna keep doing great!
** And sometimes just plain depressing.
---> '''Myala:''' No more people getting hurt... and that's an official order!
* LittleBitBeastly: Is an Aurin, so really, comes as no surprise. Her crown and luxurious hair tend to hide the kitty ears, though.
* PsychicLink: Through the Living Crown.
* PsychicPowers: According to a Scientist scan, is an Esper, though based off the Dominion tutorial, uses a staff as a focus instead of a psyblade.
* StepfordSmiler: Keeps up appearances, but it's obvious that her empathic link to Arboria and the trauma of it all is physically, mentally, and spiritually getting to her.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Redleaf]]
!! Arwick Redleaf

->''"Death is a natural part of the Weave! (That means it's okay to kill them!)"''

Aurin. First Consort to Queen Myala Everstar, and second only to her in authority. He is more military minded than most Aurin, a vicious blademaster and hungry for revenge. Only time will tell whether or not this will be his downfall.
----
* {{Badass}}: His EstablishingCharacterMoment shows him sitting on a pile of his defeated enemies, some of them still twitching. The pile is quite a bit taller than he is.
* WarHawk: He's always the one guy among the otherwise mostly pacifist Aurin leadership who will argue for offensive operations against the Dominion, usually enlisting the player character's help.

[[/folder]]

!!Exile Academy of Science (XAS)

The Exiles' center of research and development.

[[folder:Doctor Lazarin]]
!! Dr. Victor Lazarin

->''"We murder the few so the many may--actually, they'll probably die, too."''
->'''Voiced by Creator/JimCummings'''

Mordesh. One of Grismara's most brilliant alchemists, creator of the Everlife Elixir, which gave his people immortality; the Contagion, which rotted their bodies and drove them insane; and Vitalus serum, which keeps the Mordesh from decaying even more than they already have. A vital member of the Exile Fleet's medical community, he has succeeded in containing a number of outbreaks with very limited resources.
----
* AbsentMindedProfessor: Though he's not an extreme example of this trope, his daughter Lucy implies that Victor gets so caught up in work that he forgets mundane details. Like running out of supplies...
* {{Adorkable}}: When he was much younger, if the picture in 'Victor Lazarin's Dead End' is anything to go by.
* BenevolentBoss: In contrast to his Dominion counterpart, Mondo Zax. Although Victor sometimes jokes (at least, one hopes) about the fates of his previous assistants, he shows genuine concern and appreciation for those working with him.
* BlackComedy: Fond of it.
-->'''Victor:''' I was wondering what kept you! I presumed it was "Death," but that's just my way.
* DeadpanSnarker: Victor has developed a pretty black, dry sense of humour after dooming his species to extinction.
-->'''Victor''': Destiny can be a difficult burden to bear... especially when you're basically a zombie.
* {{Determinator}}: Suffers one tragedy after another, and [[spoiler: almost gives up in Blighthaven.]] However, he keeps going.
* FriendlyEnemy: Of a sort, with Mondo Zax. Both are Mad Scientists who belong to their faction's "Black Sheep" race and both tend to send "gifts" in the form of dangerous experiments to one another.
* GutturalGrowler: He speaks with a very gruff, grainy voice, a consequence of losing most of his original vocal chords, and having to put in a second-rate voice modulator in place.
* HeartbrokenBadass:
** Unafraid of delving into the deepest, darkest mysteries of alchemy! Mostly driven by a desire to amend his greatest mistake, the Everlife Elixir, made in the midst of a depression from his wife's death during childbirth.
** Poor Victor is even more heartbroken after [[spoiler: Lucy dies in Blighthaven.]] He decides to keep fighting.
---> '''Victor''': Despair will not determine my destiny.
* TheLostLenore: Sorta, kinda went off the deep-end when his wife died during childbirth.
** [[spoiler: As of Strain Ultradrop, Lucy Lazarin became one.]]
* MadScientist: If you ever need a harmless little critter turned into a ravaging truck-sized monstrosity, he's your man.
* MustMakeAmends: Doomed his entire species, then saved what was left. He is also vital to containing all manner of virulent outbreak or solving the medical mysteries bound to plague the Exiles.
* NightmareFetishist: During one questline, you have the option of bringing him back a gift - a skull from a weird and very grotesque creature. Victor is absolutely thrilled.
-->'''Victor:''' Ah, excellent! What a grisly gift! And you thought to bring it to me. How flattering!
* OverprotectiveDad: Implied by other characters.
-->'''Alchemist Assistant''': Attend to this advice - do not look overlong upon Lazarin's daughter.
* SelfDeprecation
-->'''Victor:''' I wish you luck. But, coming from me, that might not be beneficial.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Doctor Belle]]
!! Dr. Belinda "Belle" Walker

->''"Shootin' stars, sugar, I'm just making it up as I go! Seems to work well so far."''
-> ''Voiced by Laura Bailey''

Human. Dorian Walker's daughter, every bit as adventurous as her father, though in this time in the field of science. One of the most prominent members of XAS.
----
* HotScientist: And ''how.'' Tight shirt, short shorts, luxurious blonde hair, and a fantastic, fit figure maintained by constant activity in the field.
* MissingMom: She had died long ago, taken by Spacer's Plague.
* SouthernBelle / SouthernFriedGenius : Speaks like, and cordial as, a Southern Belle; one of the Exiles most prominent geniuses and capable of tinkering and activating anything, no prior knowledge or understanding of how it even works.
* WhoWearsShortShorts: When you do a lot of running in a variety of environments, mobility is more key than coverage.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Rusty and Bolt]]
!! Rusty and Bolt

->''"Oh, I just know Belle is going to come through! She's the best, you know?"''
-->--'''Rusty'''

->''"My hero... now I know who to blame."''
-->--'''Bolt'''

Belle's Scan-Bots. Voiced with pre-programmed personalities, Rusty is highly enthusiastic and optimistic, while Bolt is snarky and pessimistic.
----
* DeadpanSnarker / ThePessimist: Bolt.
* {{Keet}} / TheIdealist: Rusty.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Liara]]
!! Liara

->''"Every life on this planet is precious! ... Except that one."''
-> '''Voiced by Creator/TaraStrong'''

Aurin. An esper botanist, seen in the debut/Blur trailer.
----
* HotScientist: Wears an incredibly impractical outfit consisting of a tight corset, long jacket and high heels.
* ImpossiblyLowNeckline: Her aforementioned corset top.
* LittleBitBeastly: Aurin, so it goes with. Big, slim rabbit ears and a long cat-like tail.
* PsychicPowers: Uses telekinesis to fight as an Esper.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Lucy]]
!! Lucy Lazarin

->''"My father is a genius. With enough time and ingredients, he can do anything!"''

Mordesh. Victor Lazarin's daughter and assistant.
----
* DaddysGirl: Noticeably, she's the only canon Mordesh who ''doesn't'' have a beef with Lazarin, and actually cheers him on, and remains confident in his alchemical skills.
* FriendToAllLivingThings: Subverted. Lucy is often found in the company of animals... but these are usually her test subjects. In Blighthaven, she gushes over the cuteness of a golden jabbit before [[spoiler: stating that she intends to dissect it to find a cure for the contagion.]]
* [[spoiler: HorrorHunger]]: After she is [[spoiler: corrupted by the Strain.]]
-->'''Lucy:''' [[spoiler: Father? What is happening to me... the hunger! It consumes me!]]
* LivingEmotionalCrutch: To her father. To the extent that he [[spoiler: almost gives up entirely after she dies.]]
* MadScientist: It runs in the family.
* MadScientistsBeautifulDaughter: Subverted. Lucy is beautiful, but far less sheltered and innocent than most examples. She is also a brilliant scientist in her own right.
* TheReliableOne: Despite being a MadScientist, Lucy appears to be far more grounded than her father. At one point she outright states that Victor forgets how they can run out of supplies, and sends the player off to gather more.
** In Wilderrun she also warns her father that [[spoiler: it is too early to start using the experimental cure for the Strain. Victor goes ahead with it anyway, hoping to save his infected friend. Guess who was right.]]

[[/folder]]

!!Free Companies of Nexus (FCON)

The Exiles voluntary militia, handling security detail and cracking Dominion skulls.

[[folder: FCON as a group]]
* AddedAlliterativeAppeal: Many units in FCON army used this trope, such as Kriton's Commandos and Durek's Destroyers.
* BadassArmy: Many units, especially famous ones led by Granok, are competent fighters despite being poorly equipped compared to the [[TheEmpire Dominion]].
* FashionableAsymmetry: They only wear one pauldron on their left shoulder.
* FunWithAcronyms: FCON stands for '''F'''ree '''C'''ompanies '''O'''f '''N'''exus.
* {{Private Military Contractors}}: A positive example as long as you are not the [[TheEmpire The Dominion]].
** However, in contrast to the trope, their main purpose was to defend the Exile communities and acted more like a standing army for the Exiles.
* MildlyMilitary: Their basic uniform is a tank top worn over a brown sleeveless shirt and a hat. They also lack strict dress code and formality, except saluting to the commanding officer, compared to Dominion Legions.
* RagTagBunchOfMisfits: As a result of hiring anyone who can bear arms, whether it's gun or blade.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Commander Stonebreaker]]
!! Commander Durek Stonebreaker

->''"There's FUBAR, then there's what we got here."''

Granok. The young warlord who stole Dominion weapons on Gnox, saved his species from extinction, and was summarily thanked by being exiled from his home planet, along with all those who followed him. He now serves as the leader of the Free Companies of Nexus (FCON), the Exiles' voluntary militia.
----
* GeneralRipper: His (understandable) hatred for the Dominion drives him into some very bad decisions, like shelling a native temple where a few Dominion troopers had gone to ground and in the process kicking off a costly conflict with the native Falkrin.
* NoGoodDeedGoesUnpunished: Saved his entire species from extinction! Exiled soon afterwards. By his own father.
* ParentalSubstitute: To Sergeant Kara. While she was [[RaisedByDudes technically raised by all the Destroyers,]] Durek leads the company, so is her "father", so to speak. He even shows the classic over-protectiveness, on the eve of her first real combat deployment.
* SiliconBasedLife: As with all Granok, he is made out of "living stone."
* ScrewDestiny: Instead of accepting death at the hands of the vastly better equipped Dominion, he decided to rally other like-minded Granok to his cause and stole Dominion equipment to use against them.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Sarge]]
!! Sarge

->''"Listen, lady, I'm just tryin' to doing my job here, not join the flower patrol."''

Granok. A Warrior mercenary escorting Buck and Liara in the cinematic trailer. Also hosts the Warplots flick.

----
* AshFace: At the end of the "Warplots" flick.
-->'''Sarge:''' ''[coughs, then grins]'' ...I think we won.
* BruiserWithASoftCenter: Liara remarks on this in her [[http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/632/feature/5904/Meet-the-Aurin.html interview]] with MMORPG.com, but wouldn't recommend saying this to his face.
-->'''MMORPG.com:''' And how about the Granok? Did you two get along?\\
'''Liara:''' The Sarge? Oh, sure. He's just a big softie. I mean, he likes to talk tough, but deep down inside he's really a sensitive guy.\\
'''MMORPG.com:''' Really? Are you sure we’re talking about the same person?\\
'''Liara:''' Of course! You just need to get to know him. He tries to make everyone think that that he’s a big, mean mercenary who likes to fight and drink and blow things up, but there’s nothing wrong with him that I couldn’t fix with a big hug.
* EveryoneCallsHimBarkeep: No one knows his real name, or even if he's actually a Sargeant.
* ExplosiveCigar: He uses them as incendiary grenades.
* SiliconBasedLife: As with all Granok, he is made out of "living stone."
* ThisIsGonnaSuck: At the end of the "Warplots" flick after realizing that he went a [[{{Understatement}} little overboard]] with an orbital strike.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Kara]]
!! Sergeant Kara

Granok. A member of Durek's Destroyers, she is the Commander's right-hand woman and [[ParentalSubstitute daughter of sorts.]]
----
* {{Foil}}: To Durek. She's a lot more pragmatic and level-headed than him, and is not as easily taken by her own hatred of the Dominion.
* RaisedByDudes: As a result of both of her mercenary parents being KIA. She was soon adopted by their company, Durek's Destroyers.

!!The Explorer's Union

Dedicated to exploring every inch of Nexus to uncover all of its hidden treasures and well-kept secrets, neither rain, sleet, nor horrific Eldan Monstrosities can keep them from their duties.

[[folder:Walker]]
!! Dorian Walker

Human. A famous explorer, was ridiculed for believing Nexus actually existed, then was forever praised for actually finding the mythical planet at the best time possible.
----
* ArtificialLimbs: Has had more than his fair share of scrapes and mishaps. Now he's missing an arm and a leg as a result, with robotic prosthetics in their place.
* {{Determinator}}: The devs claim he is too crotchety to die. He never gave up on the "mythical" planet Nexus until he found it. He has survived loss of two limbs, and is ''still'' exploring at a ripe old age when death might just take him in his sleep. Safe to say this man is motivated.
* HeroicVow: Of sorts. It was actually [[spoiler:Drusera]] who led him to Nexus and saved his life as his spaceship was slowly deteriorating within the Fringe; In return, he promised her that he would do everything to stop [[spoiler:the Strain]].
* TheNicknamer: Calls both his daughter and the player character all kinds of nicknames e.g. skipper, slick, squirt.
* TheyCalledMeMad: He was constantly berated for believing Nexus existed until he actually found it.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Wanderbeck]]
!! Buck Wanderbeck

->''"Had to go and touch it..."''
->'''Voiced by Creator/TroyBaker'''

Human. A spellslinger explorer from the debut/Blur trailer.

!!The Black Hoods

The Exiles spy and information network, started by the Mordesh. No one trusts these guys--and even they don't trust each other--but everyone admits that they are necessary.

[[folder: The Black Hoods as a group]]
* FashionableAsymmetry: They only wear one pauldron on their left shoulder.
* GoodIsNotSoft: Not even fellow Exiles trust them. Safe to say, they're one of the most morally ambigious groups within the Exile government.
* SpyCatsuit: [[http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn73/Vahsyl/BasiIBlackHood_zpsaa595ae0.jpg A slight variation of this]]. The suit is still pretty decently-armoured, with leg guards and body armour, making it more practical than your regular Catsuit, but it ''is'' rather tight around the butt...
* TheDreaded: To the Dominion and even the Exiles that they protect, and with good reason - The extent of their responsibilities also includes torture, assassination, and unethical scientific experiments. It is also mentioned that the Black Hoods keep as close a watch on their allies as they do on their enemies.
* TheFaceless: Their signature outfit is comprised of black, armoured lightly armoured suits combined with eerie-looking hoods that have masks that cover their faces. There are many agents that eschew use of the hood, however.
* NotSoDifferent: to ICI, their rival espionage organization in Dominion.
* [[TokenEvilTeammate TokenMorallyDubiousOrganization]]: Least morally restraint of all Exiles' organization.
* TortureTechnician: They have these. Whether it's physical torture (Such as the Cassian guy being held in Avra's Lair and being shocked repeatedly) or psychological torture (The Mordesh agent in Galeras), the Black Hoods ''will'' make you talk.

Mordesh. The head of the Black Hoods, she is in charge of the complex, treacherous web of the Exiles' spy and information network.
----
* BrokenBird: Was the daughter of a rich family of aristocrats, lived a wonderful life, and was happily married. Her family all died in the Fall, her husband was shot dead when he tried to get help from the Dominion.
* CantKillYouStillNeedYou: Towards Victor Lazarin. The only reason the man hadn't been torn apart by the hordes was because of Avra's intervention, and she knows it.
--> '''Avra''': Remember I only suffer you to live in order to find a cure.
* GoodIsNotNice: If you need a reminder, just pop over to Avra's Lair and take a look at the Dominion captives being tortured.
* InTheHood: Combines said hood with a CoolMask.
* SpikesOfVillainy: Although not evil (at least, not from an Exile POV), Avra is certainly the most morally ambiguous exile leader. Fittingly, she has creepily claw-like pauldrons.
* TerrorHero: The Dominion's worst nightmare.
* TheFaceless: Wears a mask to conceal her identity.
* TheSpymaster: Is the leader of the Black Hoods. It's safe to say all of their operations are overseen by Avra, to further her own goals and machinations.
* UnscrupulousHero: Avra isn't above underhanded tactics and nasty acts if it means giving the Exiles an advantage over the Dominion. She's also not above considering her agents as expendable pawns.

[[folder:Dominion as a group]]
->''"How about 1600 years ago, the humans of planet Cassus were chosen by the Eldan to establish a star-spanning empire. And since that time through intimidation, political intrigue--and a score of impressive military conquests!--the Dominion now exists as a shining example of strength and leadership... for the rest of the pathetic vermin that infest the galaxy."''

The largest interstellar empire in the known galaxy. With the fierce Draken in their armies, the Mechari's guidance, maintenance, and occasional intervention, the Chua's sheer brilliance, and the Cassians leadership, they are a force to be reckoned with.
----
* BecauseDestinySaysSo: The main reason the Dominion seeks to claim Nexus as its own. They believe Nexus to be their destiny and their inheritance from the Eldan.
* TheEmpire: Natch. The Dominion is also occasionally referred to as "the Empire", particularly by Axis.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: Despite their totalitarian government and caste system based on Luminai genes, they will not tolerate [[SlaveryIsASpecialKindOfEvil slavery]], [[SleazyPolitician political corruption]], and [[TheCaligula corrupt emperors]].
* {{Foil}}: To the Exiles, obviously.
* KnightTemplar: The Dominion's main gimmick. Despite clearly enjoying a bit of ruthlessness, the Dominion seems to operate on admirable ideals: education is prized, the state's primary religion focuses on concepts like justice and dedication and member races are free to excel and do whatever they do best (the leader of the Dominion's military is Draken, for example). The templar part comes in when you try to cross them. In short, the Dominion operates a lot like the Roman empire: join and thrive or get crushed by the ones who did join.
** With the Mordesh in particular, the Dominion sees destroying them less as genocide and more as curbing a virulent space-zombie plague.
* OrderVersusChaos: Dominion's order to Exiles' Chaos.
* PragmaticVillainy: They will refuse to do some horrible things like bombing the Exiles from orbit because it would cause unparalleled damage to sacred ground, and be a waste of valuable natural resources beside.

[[folder:Draken]]
!! Draken

->''"The Draken! Savage warriors, fearless in the field of battle! Not exactly the most refined chaps... but I wouldn't say that to their face."''

"Forged in the fires of Mikros," an extremely unfriendly, hostile planet brimming with deadly predators and lethal environmental hazards, the Draken are extremely tough with highly honed predatory instincts and hunting skills- and a culture that prides itself on battle, blood, and honour, following the strict code of the Blood Covenants.

The Dominion sent ships to Mikros some thousands of years after the Eldan made themselves known on Cassus, desiring hot blood to fill out the ranks of Dominion troops. Azrion, champion of the Dominion and Dominus' son, challenged the Draken High Clanlord Zhur to one-on-one combat, with the stakes being the entirety of the Draken population. He slew Zhur in single combat, and since then the Draken have served the Dominion fiercely.

Most Draken serve the empire as soldiers, but quite a few of them can be seen as manual labour, and some Draken scientists have been seen.

----
* AbusiveAlienParents: Draken are prone to this when their offspring don't live up to the Draken warrior ideal, though it can't be said for ''all'' Draken parents.
* AlienCatnip: Cheese gives them a similar high that alcohol would give a human. They've even developed something called 'cheese wine'.
* AsskickingEqualsAuthority: Though Draken do, in fact, adhere to the hierarchies of Dominion military, rarely do you meet the Draken officer who cannot kick every single one of their inferior's asses.
* BizarreAlienReproduction: They're mammals, who (assumingly) nurse their young, but baby Draken arrive in egglike coverings.
* BizarreSexualDimorphism: Male Draken are fierce looking, with bulky, blocky features and are so top-heavy they're hunched over. They have a distinctly animalistic feel to them. Female Draken stand perfectly upright, are impossibly curvy, and purposefully flaunt their attractive selves.
* BloodKnight: Much like the Chua, the Draken live by a philosophy that emphasizes the thrill of fighting over the necessity of it.
** [[ProudWarriorRaceGuy Proud Warrior Race]]: The Draken's entire "hat" in the setting.
* GreenSkinnedSpaceBabe: Draken women are far and wide known to be seductive and desireable, even amongst the Exiles. They've got posters, even.
* DumbMuscle: Played with. Most Draken -- with only a few exceptions -- are not for higher mental pursuits because they find such things uninteresting and superfluous. They are brilliant tacticians and combatants, though.
* HornedHumanoid: Drakens have massive antelope-like horns upon their heads.
* KlingonPromotion: Draken Clanlords are chosen through rites of combat. The most popular and fastest rite is murdering your predecessor.

[[folder:Mechari]]
!! Mechari

->''"Mechari. Advanced robots engineered by the Eldan themselves! Deadly assassins and super agents! A sense of humour? A bit lacking, I'm afraid..."''

Engineered by the Eldan to have all of the advantages of organics without the inherent frailness and limitations of their bodies, Mechari acted as servants for their creators, carrying out their will without question. Strangely, not even the Mechari knew their masters past a voice in their intercoms, their ways as much a mystery to them as to everyone else in the galaxy. It's safe to say the Eldan's mysterious disappearance did not sit well with them.

They have a variety of careers in the Dominion, ranging from ambassadors, to spies, to manual labor, such as the inevitable Manfred to the RichInDollarsPoorInSense Highborn Cassians.
----
* AnimalMotifs: Insects, especially with female Mechari. Many of their face options have insectoid qualities, including compound eyes and antennae, and their facial attachments resemble mandibles and even twitch.
* BizarreSexualDimorphism: Like the Draken, Mechari "males" tend to have [[TopHeavyGuy large upper bodies]] while "females" are incredibly curvy.
* {{Fembot}}: Female Mechari, ''yowza.'' {{Justified}} in that they are specifically designed to be an organic's idea of the perfect female body.
* MechanicalLifeforms: The Mechari are more than just simple robots. Each Mechari's consciousness is contained within a soul-core of crystalline exanite, which is perhaps the closest thing to a biological system. It allows them to have personalities and the ability to dream while asleep. Also as means for power generation, they are capable of eating and drinking like other organic beings. Technically, what they're doing is extracting trace amounts of primal energy from the materials to ingest to fuel their mechanisms. The side effect to this though is that they can get drunk.
* NoSenseOfHumour: [[{{Subverted}} They do actually have a sense of humour,]] it's just hard to laugh along when [[BlackComedy your head's in a sack.]]
* RidiculouslyHumanRobots: A Mechari is more of a sentient being of artificial construct, than a run-of-the-mill robotic being. Think the Geth from ''Franchise/MassEffect''.

[[folder:Cassians]]
!! Cassians

->''"Lastly there are the Cassians--my people? Without whose continued courageousness, ambition, and stalwart leadership, the Dominion would undoubtedly crumble."''

1600 years ago, the humans of planet Cassus were chosen by the Eldan to establish a star spanning empire. Christening themselves the Cassians, they form the majority of the Dominion.

Cassian Society is separated into two distinct classes: Highborn and Lowborn

Highborn Cassians are related to the Luminai, however distantly, and therefore have Eldan blood in their veins. They are the aristocrats of the Dominion, their privileges coming from service to a Luminai House. They speak with posh British accents and are generally portrayed as sophisticated and elegant, above trivial things.

Lowborn Cassians are those who are not related to the Luminai, and are just plain old Cassians. They are the lower-middle class of society, and form most of the population. They speak with Cockney accents and are generally portrayed as simple, hard-working, Eldan-fearing folk. Most Exile Humans descended from Lowborns.

Half-jokingly, telling the difference between Lowborns and Highborns is as simple as checking out their bank account, and determining who gets into the VIP areas with ease and who doesn't.
----
* AristocratsAreEvil: If they aren't [[RichInDollarsPoorInSense incredibly wealthy if unaccountably dense,]] chances are a Highborn is an evil, scheming bastard. Exceptions so far has been Artemis Zin, though she is mostly concerned with [[ItsAllAboutMe her show, public appearance, and the praise of her fans]], and you ''are'' rather competent hired help.
* BlueBlood: The Highborn.
* CanisLatinicus: Highborn's latin-esque names tend to be this trope, which depends on the knowledge of the players and the creators.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: Exploitation of Lowborn as labour and disposable soldiers? Go right on ahead. Slaughtering them in the name of eugenics or entertainment? No, sir, we will not stand for that!
* EvilBrit: In contrast to the American-accented Exile Humans. Highborns speak the Queen's English while Lowborns sound more Cockney.
** Subverted or Downplayed with [[ReasonableAuthorityFigure Reasonable Highborns]] and many humble Lowborns though.
* FantasticCasteSystem: Highborn are richer, more privileged, and better educated. They often serve in administrative positions. Lowborn, while not exactly oppressed, are frequently constrained just to manual labour. They do not restrict education to them but it's quite unlikely that they'll be able to get it or want to. In spite of this, there are Lowborn middle-class (merchants, landowners, etc.) and [[ThePaladin Toric]] [[WorkingClassHero Antevian]]
* FantasticRacism: They barely tolerate the Chua due to their insanity, but put up with them due to their genius.
* OhMyGods: Dominus, Tresayne, Luminai and the Eldan have seeped into their language as holy, religious figures in the Vigilant Church.
--> ''By holy Saint Dominus himself!''\\
''By the Scions!''\\
''Scions bless you.'' or ''Blessings of the Scions.''\\
''Eldan, Tresayne, and the Holy Ghost!''
* RichInDollarsPoorInSense: Prevalent among the Highborn, who usually have helpful Mechari servants to do their thinking for them--not that they are any less "brilliant," mind you, it's just that they have more important matters to attend to.

Originally a primitive race of the forest world Bezgelor, the Chua were uplifted by the Mechari after noting that the species possessed an incredible talent for mechanical engineering as well as having a devious and competitive nature. In under a century, the Chua then proceeded to carpet their planet with factories, devastating it via overindustrialization. With no further resources for their experiments, the Chua joined the Dominion as scientists in seek of new worlds to wreak havoc on.
----
* BadBoss: Any Chua in a position of power. They send their underlings on dangerous and almost always lethal assignments simply because it's more efficient, and are honestly surprised if they come back alive.
* BeliefMakesYouStupid: Despite overwhelming evidence that the Eldan existed, the Chua (in general) still choose not to worship them as gods, as it can skew their scientific method.
-->'''Elevar Chua:''' Religion is not science! Science is religion!
* BlackSheep: In the eyes of the Cassians. The other races are much more willing to put up with them -- particularly the Draken, who best appreciate the BloodKnight tendencies of the Chua.

** The Chua actually have two genders like the other races however only they can tell which is which, and they don't make any distinction in gender roles.
* PintSizedPowerhouse: Being absolutely tiny compared to other races does not keep them from being able to kick ass. And you don't need to be a hulking mass of muscle and metal to fire a huge gun!
* ProudScholarRaceGuy: The Chua's defining trait, aside from being murderous hate-fueled assholes, is being exceptional scientists and mechanics.
* PsychoForHire: An entire race of them.
* SharePhrase: ''Cosmotronic!'' after the Cosmotron, the device the Mechari gave to the Chua Elders, to teach basic engineering principles to the curious and creative.

!!Legions
[[folder: Legions as a group]]

No empire is without it's military. These are the officers and brave soldiers of the Dominion.
----
* BadassNormal: Admission to the Radiant Legion is by proving yourself in the battlefield with acts of heroism, along with proof that you are of iron will, and will not bow to the slightest temptation or evil. These soldiers don't have anything but their equipment, their will, and still rise up high and above their peers to deliver some '''serious'' justice.
** Many legions, especially Crimson Legion, also served as this trope.
* ChurchMilitant: The Radiants.
* ColorCodedForYourConvenience: The colour of a soldier's armour determines rank and nature of deployment. They are also named after their coat-of-arms.
** Crimson: Shock Troopers, and Front Line Soldiers. Your average Dominion trooper marching off to conquer the heretics, the renegades, and the scum of the galaxy.
** Gold: Defense. In charge of the safety of major settlements and territories like Illium and Auroria.
** Black: The Luminai's [[PraetorianGuard personal guard]].
** Radiant (White): The Vigilant Church's military force. Usually seen defending major settlements of the church like Lightreach Mission, or accompanying Acolytes during expeditions. They are also the ones who handle top-priority, cannot fail missions.
* ElitesAreMoreGlamorous: Many high-ranking members of the Legions, along with members of Black and Radiant Legions.
* HeroicVow: All Radiant Legion soldiers are required to take a vow that forsake ties to their homes, families, political allegiance and everything else of personal significance (They can marry but consider it as a distraction to some degree). Serving the Radiant Legion is one-way thing.
* HomeGuard/ CityGuards: Gold Legion served as a defensive units in major Dominion settlements, though many of them include members of other legions.
* PraetorianGuard: The members of the Black Legion served as this to Luminai nobles.

[[folder:Swordmaidens]]

Not to be confused with the Torine Swordmaidens on Nexus, the Cassus Order of the Swordmaidens are an elite fighting force of all-female soldiers, trained in highly advanced sword-fighting techniques alongside the military tactics of the the rest of the Legions, bolstered by a strong sense of duty and honour, exemplified by the fact that there is no leaving the Order but death.

Presently they are staying in the Cassus/Dominion Capital of Meridia. Whether or not they will join the Dominion on Nexus remains to be seen, as with the political and social effects of meeting up with their Torine counterparts.
----
* AmazonBrigade: All females, if the name didn't tip you off. Presumably still Cassians though that rule may have been relaxed.

It would seem that being a holy knight with a reputation for being unstoppable, going on high-risk, can't fail missions, and desiring absolutely ''none'' of the glory is a hell of a lot more interesting than quietly tending to the cathedrals and pouring anointing oil on Vigilants.
* BadassNormal: A regular Cassian, no Eldan blood, no Eldan engineering, no physiology honed by a DeathWorld, no massive brain. Just very good armour, a nuclear-powered greatsword, and his own devotion to justice. Evil-doers beware, when the Vigilant Star shines, you ''will burn.''

* OppositesAttract: All girls love bad boys, gender inverted. [[spoiler:Though Artemis is less "bad" more dangerously irresponsible and self-centered.]]
* RedOniBlueOni: Blue to Artemis Zin's Red. [[spoiler:They are lovers.]]
* ThePaladin: As the Commander of the Radiants, Toric's duty first and foremost is to deliver swift, white-hot blazing justice to all who dare threaten the church and its flock.
* WorkingClassHero: Came from Lowborn caste and one of the few members to move beyond his station.

[[/folder]]

!!Exploration Society

An Empire cannot expand without new territory. It is the Exploration Societies job to venture into the unknown, extending the Dominion's domain and bringing back any treasures they might find.

[[folder:Zin]]
!! Lady Artemis Zin

->''"Rest assured, I'm sure meeting me in person can be an overwhelming experience."''

Cassian, Highborn. '''The''' explorer of the Dominion, hosts a high-impact, action-packed reality show where she films her dangerous adventures. With a reckless disregard for safety, courtesy, and common sense, one has to wonder if it's sheer luck or skill that's been keeping her alive...

She is oftentimes accompanied by her Draken bodyguard/mentor/friend, Kevo, who is almost the complete polar opposite of her in sensibility, practicality, and daring do.
----
* BareYourMidriff / OfCorsetsSexy / CleavageWindow: Though Artemis Zin wears a reasonable long coat, underneath that she only has a small corset that bares the entire top of her breasts, her cleavage, and some of her midriff.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: She is a very good explorer.
* ItsAllAboutMe: Astoundingly self-centered. Her concerns over the safety of her workers is not because she cares about them, but because deaths would not be good for her ratings. In spite of it all she's a rather nice woman, though.
* MoralityPet: Kevo, in a sense. Her Draken bodyguard/friend/mentor shows that she's not ''entirely'' self-centered and can actually care deeply about someone other than herself.
* OppositesAttract: The self-centered, impulsive, spotlight-loving narcissist with the [[spoiler:selfless, careful, and outstandingly humble paladin.]]
* RedOniBlueOni: Red to Toric Antevian's Blue. She's much more impulsive, carefree, and self-centered than him. [[spoiler:They are lovers.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Kevo]]
!! Kevo

->''"The Little Miss burns with the fire of House Zin."''

Draken. Artemis Zin's personal body guard, and mentor. Foil to his mistress, he is cautious and oftentimes expresses extreme exasperation at the Little Miss's antics.
----
* OldRetainer: Served as Artemis Zin's bodyguard for a long time.
* OnlyFriend: Serve as this trope to Artemis Zin.
* UndyingLoyalty: Despite his dismay over her dangerous antics, he really do show loyalty towards her.
[[/folder]]

!!Imperial Corps of Intelligence (ICI)

The Empire's eyes and ears, the agents ensure the smooth operation of the Dominion from the shadows.

[[folder: ICI as a group]]
* BlingOfWar: Their uniform is ornate than Blackhood's SpyCatsuit.
* CoolMask: Wear these as standard issue.
* DarkSecret: [[spoiler: see Agent Lex's entry]].
* SecretPolice: Serve as both espionage on both foreign and domestic affairs, [[spoiler: Even the highest castes of Luminai are not immune to it.]]
* StateSec: They also serve as law enforcement to some degree.
* TortureTechnician: Pretty good one too.
* NotSoDifferent: Well, their rival Blackhood also did questionable things.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Pheydra]]
!! Axis Pheydra

->''"Oh I know where you've been, what you've done... does that make you '''nervous?'''"''

Mechari. The head of the ICI ever since it's inception.
----
* LoopholeAbuse: Due to the Mechari's programming by the Eldan to prevent them from harming the Luminais, she always found a way to circumvent them.
** She aided Myrcalus with aids to prove Vorios' assassination of the previous emperor Jarec the Vigilant along with helping him overthrow the usurper's reign.
** [[spoiler: She also build Agent Lex with a programming that allowed him to hunt down Luminai nobles who are plotting against the Dominion.]]
* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: She's over 1600 years old. She looks fresh off the assembly line.
* TheSpymaster: As the head of the Dominion's intelligence, this is to be expected.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Lex]]
!! Agent Lex

->''"The name is Lex. Agent Lex."''

Mechari. The '''L'''ethality '''E'''fficiency e'''X'''periment, Axis Pheydra's personal creation and right hand man.
----
* DarkSecret: [[spoiler: He did not have programming that prevented him from harming the Luminai, allowing him to hunt down many enemies of that race.]]
* SecretTestOfCharacter: He was given a test on ability to take orders without question by assassinating Emperor Myrcalus in A Test of Loyalty, which the target was actually Axis Pheydra in disguise. [[spoiler: It also demonstrated his ability to assassinate Luminai targets, which a typical Mechari cannot do due to their programming.]]
* MetaphorIsMyMiddleName: He says that Efficiency is his middle name. As in, it literally is his middle name.
* TheNameIsBondJamesBond: Of the stock parody type.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Voxine]]
!! Agent Voxine

->''"Oh, that '''was''' unfortunate..."''

Mechari. Known for hosting a rather infamous class on "Paths," a person's specialization and responsibilities once on Nexus.
----
* HotTeacher: She's a Mechari, who were designed to be as appealing as possible to biological beings, so this comes as no surprise.
* SadistTeacher: Her "different alternative" to students who'd rather not face the inherent dangers of working in a hotly contested planet? [[spoiler:Blaster to the face.]] She also ''really'' enjoys making her students squirm.

[[/folder]]

!!The Vigilant Church

Inevitably, a religion rose from the arrival of the Eldan, venerating them as benevolent gods.

[[folder: The Vigilant Church as a group]]
* CrystalDragonJesus: The Church itself is similar to Roman Catholic Church, except its polytheism based on seven virtues.
* GoodShepherd: The Vigilant Priests are known to have this reputation.
** SinisterMinister: Had a few of them, though many of them leans towards {{Knight Templar}}.
* SaintlyChurch: The Vigilant Church is one of the benevolent organization in Dominion and providing aid to the Lowborns.
** CorruptChurch: Although the current version has a few rotten apples, The Vigilant Church during [[TheCaligula Vorios the False's]] reign was marked by decadence of its ranks until Varonia Cazalon overthrew the previous High Sentinel and took his place.
* [[TokenGoodTeammate Token Good Institution]]: One of the few benevolent faction compared to other factions within the [[TheEmpire Dominion]].

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Varonia Cazalon]]
!! Varonia Cazalon

Cassian, Highborn. Current High Sentinel of Vigilant Church and living on Planet Nexus.
----
* CoolMask
* DoesNotLikeShoes: Never seen with a pair or even one shoe.
* TheFaceless: Varonia's face is only part that covered fully, in contrast to her [[{{Stripperiffic}} "clothes"]].
* {{High Priest}}: Her position as High Sentinel of Vigilant Church serve as the leader of this organization.
* GoodShepherd: A female variant.
* {{Stripperiffic}}: Her clothing consists of pieces of clothes covering her chest and her crotch.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Calidor]]
!! Calidor Antevian

->''"By the gods, listen up and listen well! This is important!"''

Cassian, Lowborn. Brother to Toric Antevian, a more peaceful servant compared to his brother.
----
* AloofBigBrother: The little brother of the equation. Calidor seems to have suffered greatly in the shadow of his sibling's more obvious achievements like slaughtering in kind bandits who had taken the lives of a number of Radiants in a dirty ambush.
* [[spoiler:{{Cyborg}}: He became one after he accepts Recombination process, replacing some of his body with robotic parts.]]
* KnightTemplar: [[spoiler:Wants to turn all of Nexus into cybernetic monstrosities so they can all "ascend" like the Eldan did.]]
* VisionaryVillain: Only wants to spread the "Truth" of the Eldan to the heretics and non-believers. [[spoiler:Through violence and forced augmentation if necessary.]]

[[/folder]]

!!Notable Figures

[[folder:Kezzia]]
!! Huntress Kezzia

->''"Are you ready to spill blood for the empire?"''

Draken. The deadliest huntress of Clan Bloodfire. In charge of determining whether or not you are fit to participate in the Great Hunt.
----
* CuteMonsterGirl: While you wouldn't exactly use "Cute," she is ''extremely'' attractive, as female Draken are.

[[/folder]]

%%[[folder:Laveka]]
%%!! Laveka the Dark-Hearted

%%->'''Voiced by Courtenay Taylor'''

%%Draken. A bloodshaman in Deradune, who holds a keen interest in the blasphemous Moodies and their dark magics of necromancy.

%%[[/folder]]

[[folder:Doon]]
!! Corrigan Doon

->''"This would be a lot easier if you didn't feel the insatiable need to sprint everywhere!"''

Cassian, Lowborn. An oftentimes drunk, overconfident, and selfish ass, he is still one of the galaxy's most effective freelance trackers, once having found the ''Star of Dominus,'' a precious jewel stolen by marauders, all by his lonesome.
----
* TheAlcoholic: Frequently appears drunk, or clamours for a drink. The player's first encounter with him is at a bar, and your quest is to make him a drink out of tanning oil, "Nap Nap Juice," and Prayer Wine.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: Despite all of his negative traits, laziness, and desire to drink more than actually do his job, he still manages to find his targets... eventually.
* HandsomeDevil: Quite aware of it, and works it mercilessly.
* LoveableRogue: He is an ass, he frequently breaks the law, he is generally not a very nice person. He is amusing, and has a strong following in-universe.

[[/folder]]

! Nexus

Nexus is simply teeming with life. These are the intelligent ones, who may or may not try to kill and/or eat you.

!!The Eldan
[[folder:The Eldan as a group]]

One of the most technologically advanced races in the galaxy, the BenevolentPrecursors of the Dominion. They mysteriously disappeared long ago, taking their secrets with them.
----
* BenevolentPrecursors: Played with HARD. While the Eldan have their fair share of compassionate beings (Ohmna), others are just downright assholes (Nazrek, Zarkonis, Vorion) who've created some nasty, nasty things before disappearing. They also started, and ensured the Dominion's rise to power by taking away Tresayne Toria and creating a half-human, half-Eldan hybrid that would eventually rule over the Dominion. Why? We don't know. They could have just used them as a cheap labour force to build an empire, like you would a carpenter a vacation home, for all we know.
** As the player amasses more datacubes, an unflattering image emerges of the Eldan. Although they may have been competent and enthusiastic scientists, they were also shortsighted, prone to petty infighting, quick to cover up their stupid mistakes, and in Yuria's case a paranoid schizophrenic, [[spoiler:which is why she was selected to become Hydris, the Primeval of Water.]]
* ForScience: Their explanation for the more morally ambiguous experiments.
* ThatMysteriousThing: Constantly refer to the "Nexus Project" in datacubes.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:The Caretaker]]
!! The Caretaker AI

->''"... Oh my. Are you ready? Then please, step forward into this virtual world to begin. Don't be alarmed: this experience will be '''EXCRUCIATINGLY PAINFUL!'''"''
->''Voiced by J.B. Blanc''

Artificial Intelligence. A sentient program left behind to maintain and monitor the Eldan's various experiments, centuries of disuse and the fracturing of his "personality cores" have left the Caretaker helpful or extremely dangerous, depending on which one you find.

On the one hand, a "green" Caretaker is polite ([[DeadpanSnarker if sarcastic]]), helpful, and generally works in the best interest of everyone, i.e. getting the latest Eldan monstrosity under control.

On the other, a "red" Caretaker is sadistic, insane, and just plain mean. He also won't think twice about resurrecting any horrific Eldan experiments left behind, if only to take care of the pesky "organics." (In other words: you.)

He also supervises and narrates the Adventures, 5-man group content in virtual worlds.
----
* AIIsACrapshoot: If his personality core is damaged enough, he becomes this. Fortunately--or unfortunately--there are many, many interdependent personality cores all over nexus.
* DeadpanSnarker: Often. May or may not be intentional; it's not really clear.
* EvilIsHammy: In his "Red" damaged form.
* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler: Purposefully destabilized his personality cores, making it harder for the Entity to access the Datascape and corrupt him. It almost worked too well, as this allowed Avatus, his security protocol, to become [[ThatOneBoss the hardest boss in the game.]]]]
* MoreTeethThanTheOsmondFamily: It's very noticeable that, when the Caretaker glitches out, his reasonable set of nice, normal teeth turns into a mouthful of fangs.
* SuspiciouslySpecificDenial: One of his more amusing transmat quotes.
--> '''The Caretaker''': Noo! I don't make secret copies of the travelers I transmat! And I also don't look at them all the time in a secret underground vault, no... ''[awkward chuckle]''

[[/folder]]

%%[[folder:Jariel]]
%%!! Jariel, the Archon

%%The head honcho of the Nexus Project, he oversaw all of the operations of the various orders.

%%[[/folder]]

[[folder:Nazrek]]
!! Progenitor Nazrek

Quite possibly the most morally ambiguous to outright evil of the Eldan, Nazrek was responsible for numerous horrors and breaches of protocol on Nexus, such as the necromantic capabilities of the Moodies, the Stemdragons, the Dreg, the Squirg, and a whole host of other nightmares.
----
* {{Foil}}: To Ohmna. Nazrek revels in bloodshed, violence, and does not hesitate to break protocol or ignore others in the pursuit of his projects. The two of them have a constant rivalry, well-detailed in their datacubes.
* {{Hypocrite}}: Claims to have mutated the female Skeech as a reminder to Ohmna not to breach protocol. Given that he himself has broken protocol many, many more times, with more drastic consequences, it was obviously more a way to piss off Ohmna and amuse himself.
* InLoveWithYourCarnage: Was a big fan of the Osun's bloodsport. Claims there is nothing on Nexus he enjoys more.
* ItAmusedMe: While the present look of the female Skeech was a reminder [[{{Hypocrite}} not to breach protocol]], the creation of [[spoiler:Lucent, the hyper-intelligent Skeech]] was purely for his own amusement and to spite Ohmna. He sarcastically notes that she'd be pleased to know the result of his little experiment.
* MadScientist: Creator of a [[PuppeteerParasite brain-wave eating, mind-controlling]] [[{{Expy}} cephalopod cousin to the]] [[VideoGame/HalfLife head crab]], frequently broke protocol, made incredibly dangerous modifications for the hell of it, had an outstandingly bad history of interactions with his fellow co-workers with more than a few musings of "improving" them, and proud of all of it.
** [[spoiler:In a Grimvault datacube, it's revealed that Nazrek was the one who, working with a currently unknown benefactor, made slight adjustments to the Protoplasmic Resonator. These created the mental instabilities in Drusera -- whom he became a part of -- which eventually birthed the Entity.]]

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Ohmna]]
!! Progenitor Ohmna

Creator of the Skeech, had a hand in the creation of the Osun and the Falkrin. She has a constant, well-documented beef with Nazrek, the latter spiting her every chance he gets for his own amusement.
----
* {{Foil}}: To Nazrek. She's much more compassionate and wholly less psychopathic. They constantly have rows over their conflicting ideologies.
* MotherlyScientist: She grew very attached to her creation, the Skeech. The little blue gremlins were universally hated by everyone, especially her rival Progenitor Nazrek. When the time inevitably came to exterminate them, she instead hid them in caves where they proceeded to thrive and infest most all of Nexus' subterranean systems.
* TragicMonster: [[spoiler: Is still alive. And killed as a DreadPhage.]]

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Vorion]]
!! Maker Vorion

Quite possibly one of the Eldan's most brilliant minds, he was responsible for the Augmentation process, and quite a lot of other technological wonders on Nexus.
----
* CrazyPrepared: Even though he was incredibly confident that the Datascape and the Caretaker would never, ever need to be rebooted, he went ahead and made a user guide for manual maintenance, however unlikely the situation was. Subverted in that the manual is fragmented and you rely on your specialist assistant's messing with the machines to do so.
* MadScientist: While the 3rd most questionable Eldan next to Nazrek (1st) and Zarkonis (2nd), his experiments were more "have destructive applications" than being inherently bad. He starts tinkering more and more with Augmentation, however, going down a slippery slope of clone armies, mind-control, and eventually, [[spoiler:the Bio-Phage.]]

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Zarkonis]]
!! Maker Zarkonis

Responsible for most of the security systems and weapons systems on Nexus. Thinks very highly of himself.
----
* JustThinkOfThePotential: Frequently makes his works more dangerous than strictly necessary, because he finds "untold potential" in them. Frequently gets into rows with the Archon as a result. [[VideoGame/{{Portal}} Aperture Science]] would have loved to have him.
* MadScientist: Of weapons and doomsday devices. He did not ''need'' to make a cannon capable of annihilating the planet in one shot... but he certainly ''wants'' to.
* NoKillLikeOverkill: His philosophy.
* SurroundedByIdiots: Believes this, at any rate. No one can seem to see his "genius." He would be right, though, if he were talking about social skills and human resources.

[[/folder]]

%%[[folder:Xarophet]]
%%!! Xarophet

%%Perished during another experiment with Primal Water. With the previous results of their experiments with the most volatile and dangerous substance in the known galaxy, you think they'd have quit while they were ahead.

%%[[/folder]]

[[folder:Ionis]]
!! Watcher Ionis

Head of the Watchers, the security and administration for the Nexus Project. He oversaw the allocation of resources and saw that protocol is followed. Constantly pointed out issues and voiced his concerns over the various projects of the Eldan but was ignored.
----
* {{Foreshadowing}}: Had a real knack for catching what was wrong with a project before the consequences happened.
* IgnoredExpert

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Koral]]
!! Koral
Belongs to the Order of the Shapers, and is among the more moral members of the Project. His wary and conservative views have not made him popular with his colleagues.

----
* {{Foreshadowing}}: Like Ionis, he has a knack for noticing problems, although his are less technical and more focused on how his colleagues are getting out of hand.
* HistoricalCharacterConfusion: May occur for players. Depending on the datacube, his name is spelled 'Korol' or 'Koral' - the former spelling is also the name of one of Dominus' sons. However, they are clearly not the same individual.
* OneSteveLimit: Averted, as discussed above.
* OnlySaneMan: Appears to see himself as such.
-->'''Koral:''' Hydris, Goddess of Water. Am I the only one amongst us who finds this troubling? Naming our creations after ancient Eldan gods? What begins as our greatest work of science is slowly becoming something more insidious and dangerous. I must be more cautious. I have heard whisper about my "obstructive opinions", and frankly, I begin to fear for my life.
* TheWorldIsJustAwesome: In several datacubes he seems overcome by the beauty of Nexus. For example, the time he spent days wandering through the caverns in Algoroc.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Drusera]]
!! Drusera

A mysterious female, who appears as a beautiful ghostly figure. Seems to have a rather vested interest in the fight against the Strain.
----
* EnemyWithin: [[spoiler:She shares the same body with the Entity.]]
* {{Foreshadowing}}: You may have noticed chatter in cities about a strange ghost-like lady appearing and disappearing at whims. You even get a chance to see her as well if you're lucky enough, although she'll usually only say a pre-scripted line before disappearing. [[spoiler:Come Level 35, said Ghost lady turns out to be playing a massive role in the greatest mystery that's plagued the universe for centuries.]]
* FriendToAllLivingThings
* IJustWantToHaveFriends: Her reason for [[spoiler: lying about sharing a body with the Entity. She didn't want to drive away her only friend.]]
* MeaningfulName: Drusera was named after an Eldan deity. [[spoiler:And then we find out that she was designed to ''be'' a deity.]]
* [[spoiler:[[PalsWithJesus Pals with the Genesis Prime:]]]] The player character and Drusera end up pretty close.
* PhysicalGod: [[spoiler:As the focus of the Nexus Project, Drusera is said to be capable of altering the fabric of reality if sufficiently trained. The Datacube notes that she is, "for all intents and purposes, a god."]]
* SurvivorGuilt: [[spoiler:She couldn't save the Eldan from the Strain.]]
* TakingYouWithMe: [[spoiler:It's implied in Defile datacubes that she attempted a HeroicSacrifice by allowing herself to be destroyed, which would also kill the Entity. It... didn't work.]]

!!Natives

[[folder:Falkrin]]
!! Falkrin AKA AV-1

Winged humanoids with avian features. Proud, barbaric, and ''extremely'' territorial, they defend their cliff-side homes with sound and fury.
----
* ProudWarriorRaceGuy: Falkrin think very highly of themselves, mostly in their capacity for combat and obvious superiority over the "groundwalkers" who they will not hesitate to slaughter to prove their point.
* PunnyName: Pronounce their code name really, really fast.

[[/folder]]

%%[[folder:Murgh]]
%%!! Murgh

%%Prototypes of the Falkrin, originally let loose in the wild after less than stellar results. The Eldan were surprised that the Falkrin had integrated themselves into their society as loyal servants.

%%Compared to their tall, elegant cousins, the Falkrin, the Murgh are fat, ugly, and have teeny tiny wings that are almost vestigial, if they couldn't hover with them. They are also marginally less intelligent and more barbaric.

%%[[/folder]]

[[folder:Moodies]]
!! Moodies

Necromantic primates. Known for their large, decorative masks that all but obscure most of their body.
----
* {{Necromancer}}: An entire race of them, thanks to the Boravic gland, an organ they can store their life energy in for use later. They had also been modified by Progenitor Nazrek, giving them the primal energy manipulation necessary to craft a Boravic gland in non-Moodies to turn them into undead slaves.
* YouNoTakeCandle: Moodies speak with very broken English. (In-universe, partially translated Eldan.) Justified in that the Moodies are not a very word-heavy species, preferring to let their giant expressive masks and body language do their talking for them.
-->'''Moody:''' Me kill you! Then me make you mine!

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Osun]]
!! Osun AKA OS-1

"The most Metal species in WildStar," they are gigantic warriors of living metal. Skilled smiths and beast tamers, they are extremely dangerous foes.
----
* TheBlacksmith: Osun have great respect in their blacksmiths, usually the ones who forge either the imposing walls of their cities or their weapons. Forgemaster Trogun of Kel'Voreth has branched out into robotics, too.
* ProudWarriorRaceGuy: Osun pride themselves on conquering, subduing, and enslaving "lesser" races. Next to Warlords, their most respected members are the Forgemasters who craft the weapons with which they crush skulls.
* SiliconBasedLife: They're made of a metal substance. When an Osun is struck, you hear a loud "CLANG!"

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Pell]]

Creatures who worship elemental powers. Notable for being able to incorporate Eldan technology to serve "the Masters."

!! Thundercall

Found in Galeras. Worship the Storm, and their "god," Stormtalon, a massive dragon-like beast born from the God Incubator.
----
* BlowYouAway: Capable of creating and guiding tornadoes.
* ShockAndAwe: Can also literally call down the thunder on their enemies.

[[/folder]]

%%[[folder:Stormseeker]]
%%!! Stormseeker

%%Found in Ellevar. Worshipers of the Flow, they have the ability to manipulate water and the weather.

[[folder:Skeech]]
!! Skeech

A cannibalistic, simple-minded, and violent species of blue, gremlin-like creatures. Make surprisingly good chefs, as noted by their victims before they perished from the cooking process.
----
* ImAHumanitarian: In tribe vs tribe warfare, the losers are also the winner's victory feast.
* PokemonSpeak: Most of their vocabulary is composed of the word "Skeech."

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Torine]]
!! Torine

Tresayne Toria, her fellow Sword Maidens, and their descendants, now the immortal servants of Vitara.
----
* AmazonianBeauty: Torine are in astoundingly good shape, very muscular, and barely wear anything at all, showcasing their massive physiques for all to see.
* AmazonBrigade: Tresayne and her "Swordsisters".
* DamselOutOfDistress: Tresayne, in ''The Maiden's Tale'' issue of ''Tales from Beyond the Fringe''. [[spoiler: During her 'voluntary' abduction by the Eldan, Tresayne slaughters countless Mechari and then demands a renegotiation. Namely, that her Swordsisters must be allowed to accompany her.]]
* {{Determinator}}: Tresayne, as demonstrated in 'The Maiden's Tale' and 'Tresayne Toria's perfect strike'.
* ItSucksToBeTheChosenOne: As noted by Elyona, Tresayne's story is both "the stuff of legends" and "incomparably tragic".
* SpitefulSpit: Tresayne spits blood in [[spoiler: Vitara]]'s face, [[spoiler: as she is supposedly dying. Of course, she then takes Vitara up on her offer.]]
* YouCantGoHomeAgain: Tresayne, her sisters, and her servants were all informed that Nexus was a one way trip. A group of the third tried to escape the planet with inevitably fatal results.
-->'''Jariel''': The recent destruction of the Cassian vessel was tragic, although completely necessary for the ongoing security of the Project. It was made abundantly clear to the humans that they were never to attempt escape from Nexus, and that such an attempt would result in severe consequences.]]\\
'''Elyona'''': I recently learned that Tresayne Toria and her "swordsisters" are still alive in this jungle, preserved for hundreds of years by the intense energies of the Focus of Life ... I try to imagine their lives, helpless victims of circumstance torn from their homes, living forever on a hostile alien world from which they can never escape. Their story, although the stuff of legends, is incomparably tragic.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:The Strain and the Entity]]

A strange, mutagenic lifeform with the ability to [[TheVirus assimilate other life]] (and in the case of highly powerful Strain known as the Skurge, [[MeatMoss the landscape]]) into a monstrous HiveMind loyal to the [[BigBad Entity]], an ancient enemy of the Eldan. The Strain regards itself as the perfect form of life, and regards it as a moral duty to share that perfection with all other life. Through force, if necessary.
----
* AbusivePrecursors: [[spoiler:The Strain is what happened when an Eldan made the full switch into this mode of thinking.]]
* BigBad: The most lethal and aggressive antagonist both Dominion and Exile face, especially under the command of the Entity.
* BlueAndOrangeMorality: The Strain sees nothing wrong with corrupting the universe. Everything is so ''ugly.'' Symmetry, ''just'' two eyes, woefully inefficient designs... they're like a carpenter giving a rundown, ugly house a fresh coat of paint, much needed repairs, and a few improvements.
* BodyHorror: Purple growth and eyes covering everything is the ''least'' of what happens when the Strain takes over.
* EldritchAbomination: The Entity proudly calls himself "something beyond the Eldan's understanding." He also isn't part of the Strain, and it ''still'' listens to him. [[FridgeHorror Think about that for a second]].
* EnemyWithin: [[spoiler:Its personality evolved from minor instabilities in Drusera's, a side effect of a minor adjustment made to the Protoplasmic Resonator which created her. The extent to which they are different individuals is actually heavily debated, in and out of universe.]]
* EyesDoNotBelongThere: The Strain has a ''thing'' for growing new occular organs.
* HordeOfAlienLocusts: More directly malevolent and ideologically motivated than most, but the Strain has the thematic of transforming all things it can into itself.
* ItCanThink: The Strain is ''not'' stupid, and the Entity even less so.
* PrecursorKillers: [[spoiler:It's the Strain that destroyed the Eldan with the Entity's help.]]
* SplitPersonalityTakeover: [[spoiler:Its ultimate goal is to commandeer the body of the Genesis Prime from Drusera, using its power to annihilate all life as we know it in the galaxy.]]

Founder and CEO of Protostar, he takes the saying, "If you want the job done right, do it yourself" to its logical extreme by staffing his company with clones of himself.
----
* CorruptCorporateExecutive: While his products certainly aren't defective by any means, the quality and the price could be better. He's also not above some very, very shady practices. Turning his entire planet's population into a clone army workforce comes to mind.
* ExpendableClone: Protostar's entire workforce, sans CEO Phineas T. Rotostar, are all clones of said CEO, and are frequently injured, recycled, and replaced with extreme regularity.
* EveryoneCallsHimBarkeep: Though Protostar clones have a unique serial number imprinted under their left armpit for definitive identification, most every clone is referred to by their title, such as "Junior Executive Assistant".
* ProudMerchantRaceGuy: His species, the now almost-extinct (except for him and his clones) species the Corporixians, were very ruthless and efficient merchants with an extreme distrust of one another. They reproduced by means of clone templates with paved the way for Rotostar's total monopoly of the entire planet...

* AttentionDeficitOohShiny: The mere presence of "Shinies", objects that glow in the sun, will cause their brains to literally shut-down and become overwhelmed with an intense desire to get the shiny as their own. [[note]]This was because, back on their homeworld Logos, predators were colourblind, and covering the entrance of a Lopp Warren with shinies drastically improved your chances of hiding from said predators.[[/note]]
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Falkrin and Darkspur Cartel had to learn a hard way on Lopp's martial prowess with aid from PCs when they attacked their caravans.
* DeepFriedWhatever: Lopp's culinary involved frying every food that find and consume enough amount that would kill a normal being from artery clog.
* FantasticDrug: Lolli-Lopps are hallucinogenic caterpillar that are used by Lopps and even PC's to get high from licking it. Lopps also have Hookah for recreational purposes.
* FunnyAnimal: They stand upright, wear clothes, and clearly have a distinct culture. But they still hop like bunnies everywhere they go.
* HiddenDepths: As much as they seem cute and innocent, they are willing to play MagnificentBastard through playing off with both major factions ([[TheEmpire Dominion]] and [[TheAlliance Exile]]) for their own benefits and encouraging the larger species,or Big-folk in their terms, to do tasks that would be too risky for them.
* HorseOfADifferentColour: The Kurg, gigantic quadruped bovine-like creatures as large, fast, and powerful as the Lopp are small. They are used for a variety of purposes, such as transport, tenderizing meat, and running down troublesome problems underfoot. Like Indians and Cows, they are sacred animals, to the point where the Lopp tribes have a member whose sole job is to see to its care and burial upon death.
* NationalWeapon: [[BladeOnAStick The spear.]] Light, easy to poke targets with, useful as a walking stick, a measure for rivers, and cooking meat over a fire, among other varied uses.
* PintSizedPowerhouse: Having evolved on a high gravity planet, Lopp are not tiny because they are frail but speedy, they are tiny because the pressure compacted all that muscle and strength into an extremely compact, agile frame. You do ''not'' want to get poked with a Lopp spear.

They are stubborn, hard-working, and generally portrayed as being more practical than their Cassian counterparts.
page has been split into several subpages.

* DefectorFromDecadence: Their origin story.
* SouthernFriedGenius:
[[Characters/WildStarTheExiles The Exile humans have no shortage of intelligent persons, all of which still speak and act like stereotypical Southerners.
* SpacePeople: Being on the run from Dominion for 3 centuries on GenerationShips caused them to become adapted to life in space.

* OhMyGods:

[[folder:Mordesh]]

* BlackComedy: Fond of it.
-->'''Victor:''' I was wondering
what kept you! I presumed it was "Death," but that's just my way.
* DeadpanSnarker: Victor
Nexus has developed a pretty black, dry sense of humour after dooming his species to extinction.
* HeartbrokenBadass:
* SelfDeprecation
-->'''Victor:''' I wish you luck. But, coming from me, that might not be beneficial.

[[folder:Doctor Belle]]
!! Dr. Belinda "Belle" Walker

->''"Shootin' stars, sugar, I'm just making it up as I go! Seems to work well so far."''
-> ''Voiced by Laura Bailey''

Guess who was right.

* FunWithAcronyms: FCON stands for '''F'''ree '''C'''ompanies '''O'''f '''N'''exus.

->''"I have so much to do, and so few I can trust..."''

! The Dominion

!Races

* OhMyGods: The Old Gods of Mikros are frequently honoured and remembered in speech.

[[/folder]]

* BlueBlood: The Highborn.

[[folder:Chua]]
!! Chua

->''"The Chua... nasty little rodents, they are! Of course you can't deny the buggers are brilliant at what they do; if it can be built and it needs to ''hurt'' people the Chua are the ones for the job! And it's just unfortunate that the furry little fiends are certifiable psychopaths..."''

* ExplosiveBreeder: The reason why they haven't become endangered or extinct from their psychopathic nature was explained through this as the main reason.
* FatBastard: Their gerbil-like physique makes them all look a bit chubby.
** {{Acrofatic}}: Though they are pretty agile based on their emotes and even allowed to be light armored classes like Esper and Spellslinger.
* ForScience: Is there any other reason for a Chua to do anything?
* GoneHorriblyRight: Originally a primitive race, the Chua managed to turn their lush planet into a DeathWorld under a century after being uplifted.
* IntelligentGerbil: Pretty much this trope.
* KillerRabbit: Adorable? Yes. Sadistic? Yes. Dangerous? '''Yeeeeees.'''
* MadScientist: An entire species of them.
* OurGoblinsAreDifferent: They fulfill the niche of the "Tiny Mad Scientist Race" in the game. However, rather than hairless green runts they're a race of squealing gerbils.
* LaughablyEvil: They love pulling pranks. Unfortunately for those involved with them, their idea of a good joke generally involve some form of mad science, violence, and/or explosives.
* OneGenderRace: The only race that doesn't have a male/female choice when you create a character. Loading screen messages hint that Chua gender is something that isn't discussed in polite company. or company that doesn't want to be blown up.
* YouNoTakeCandle[=/=]ThirdPersonPerson: The Chua evidently believe that time spent learning proper grammar is time better spent doing experiments.

!! Emperor Myrcalus the Vindicator

->''"I speak to you as both Luminai and Emperor."''

Luminai. Present Emperor of the Dominion. Spearheaded the Dominion's push to Nexus. Has a striking resemblance to his ancestor Dominus, the first emperor and Luminai, which gave him the title "Dominus Reborn."
----
* BenevolentBoss: Praises and honestly cares for his subjects. [[spoiler:Of course it's all a holorecording set up by Axis Pheydra, so his true feelings are up in the air.]]
* {{The Emperor}}: The current emperor of the Dominion.
* {{The Purge}}: Did this to members of House Chaul after the death of their member Vorios the False. [[spoiler: Some of the Luminai members and their Mechari loyalists are still alive, hiding and plotting a revenge against the reigning emperor. Though this problem is being solved by Agent LEX who lacked inhibition from killing Luminai.]]
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Despite his harsh methods and his role in ravaging of Arboria, he pulled the Dominion from the mad emperor's hand and actually tried to reform the brainwashed victim (with certain degree of success) instead of executing them.
* RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething: Went into the palace, convinced the Draken royal guards to join his revolution, and overthrew [[TheCaligula Vorios The False.]]

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Emperor Dominus]]
!! Emperor Dominus the Half-Blood

Luminai. The first of his kind, half-Cassian, half-Eldan, his majesty ushered in a golden age for the Dominion, using the knowledge and technology the Eldan had granted him to bring the Empire to then unthought-of heights. Has become something of a religious icon for the Vigilant Church, as a Messiah figure.
----
* FounderOfTheKingdom: He founded the Dominion when he arrived on Cassus at the age of adulthood.
* HappilyMarried: Married to Olyssia Zin, the ancestor of the Scions and Artemis Zin, until her [[DeathByChildBirth birth of their seventh child Chaul]], the ancestor of the titular House that [[TheCaligula Vorios the False]] belonged to.
* HalfHumanHybrid: The first of the half Eldan line of emperors that ruled over Dominion.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Azrion]]
!! Emperor Azrion

Luminai. The emperor who bested High Clanlord Zhur in one-on-one combat, winning the eternal loyalty of the Draken.
----
* HonorBeforeReason: He chose to challenge the lord rather than manipulate them.
* RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething: The lore seems to indicate that he believed in leading by example.
* WarriorPrince

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Emperor Vorios]]
!! Emperor Vorios the False

Luminai. AKA the Mad Emperor, Vorios had driven the Dominion down a very dark path, causing unparalleled damage to the economy and the people, staffing his inner circle with the most decadent and corrupt pigs he could find.
----
* TheCaligula: Could very well have been a sci-fi reincarnation of the man himself.
* DeadlyDecadentCourt: Although the Luminai had a bit of court intrigue, this trope became more pronounced under his rule.
* [[HalfTheManHeUsedToBe Half the Luminai He Used To Be]]: His final fate after his surrender when Myrcalus seized the throne.
* KlingonPromotion: Got his throne via assassination of Jarec the Vigilant.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Duke Portius]]
!! Duke Malvolio Portius

->''"Hello there. It appears it has fallen to me, to tell you, about the Dominion. And as your luck would have it, I am by far the most qualified individual to do so! Shall we begin?"''

Cassian, Highborn. Representative for Meet the Dominion, runs Illium, the empire's capital city on Nexus.
----
* AGlassOfChianti: He never seems to be without a goblet of wine in his hand, which only serves to make him look even more snobbish.
* EvilCounterpart: To Kit Brinny, as both are representatives of their respective factions.
* FantasticRacism: Finds his life is much easier without the Chua, mostly because he is not terrorized and/or blown up that way.
* INeedAFreakingDrink: He really, ''really'' despises the Chua. If forced to talk about them, he will require some liquid encouragement.
* MeanBoss: Sends a team of highly trained Chua to fetch honey for his afternoon tea. Unfortunately, bees on Nexus are the size of shuttles and really, really do not appreciate your stealing their honey.
* MrExposition: He's the one who talks about the Dominion races in the trailers.
* NoodleIncident: It seems that having a bomb put in his goblet is a commonality with him.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Makaza]]
!! Clanlord Makaza

Draken. Ruler of the Bloodfire Tribe in Deradune.
----
* AsskickingEqualsAuthority: Like all [[ProudWarriorRace Draken chiefs]], he showed his might to become one.
* BloodKnight
* OldSoldier: He was a former officer in Dominion Legions.
[[/folder]]

%%!!The Royal Collegium

%%Knowledge is at the heart of every great empire. The Royal Collegium makes it their duty to expand the Dominion's research and studies to further, unheard of heights.

%%[[folder:Takigurian]]
%%!! Chancellor Juro Takigurian

%%Cassian. The leader of the Collegium's inner circle, Dr. Takigurian personally supervises the greatest and most pressing research projects of the Dominion. After his promotion following the mysterious disappearance of his predecessor, he has enlisted the player's help in discovering the answer to one of the galaxy's biggest questions: Where did the Eldan go?

%%[[/folder]]

!!Dominion Research and Experimentation Division (DRED)

The Dominion's answer to the ever-present need for newer, better, and more lethal technology. As likely to blow the empire to hell as their enemies, DRED is looked upon with caution and no small measure of disdain.

[[folder:Zax]]
!! Chief Technologist Mondo Zax

->''"DRED not finished with you yet... you're still alive."''

Chua. Though Chua have no formal leadership, he is considered his species head-honcho by virtue of being the most brilliant, sadistic, and insane of his kind.
----
* AwesomeMcCoolName: You need one hell of a cool name to balance out being a space gerbil--and a runt, at that--but apparently his parents were up to the challenge.
* BadassMustache: Has a very bushy mustache.
* BadBoss: Oftentimes sends his assistants on dangerous if not lethal assignments just because it's more efficient. Should they die, he'll just hire more assistants. He had his 100th industrial accident victim (and the paperwork absolving him of blame for it, of course) enshrined in the Dominions museum aboard the Destiny.
* FriendlyEnemy: Of a sort, with Victor Lazarin. Both belong to their respective faction's "Black Sheep" race and despite being enemies they evidently keep in contact so that they can share their grievances.
* MadScientist: He's a ''Chua,'' so this really comes as no surprise.
* TheRuntAtTheEnd: 13th of 13.
* SelfMadeOrphan: [[BlatantLies Totally did not off all 12 of his siblings,]] all of whom gave him hell before they "mysteriously disappeared." And his father's death during some routine maintenance had no connection in any way with the violent argument they'd just gotten into.
* SpellMyNameWithAThe: He refers to himself as "The Zax" in written statements.
* WellDoneSonGuy: Had issues with his emotionally distant father, who was his inspiration for becoming the engineer he is today.
* YouNoTakeCandle[=/=]ThirdPersonPerson: How he talks.

[[/folder]]

* ChurchMilitant: The Radiants.
[[/folder]]

* NationalWeapon / WeaponOfChoice: Swords. They do not replace these from the day they are honoured with it, and are collected upon death to be honoured, and reforged into future swords for the next generation of Swordmaidens.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:General Warbringer]]
!! General Kezrek Warbringer

->''"Unleash the engines of slaughter!"''

Draken. The head of the Dominion military, what passes now as the Draken High Clan Lord.
----
* AsskickingEqualsAuthority: Draken choose leaders by feats of strength and combat prowess.
* EveryoneHasStandards: He did show his dislike over [[MadScientist Mondo Zax]] despite being a BloodKnight.
* FourStarBadAss: He's the supreme commander of Dominion legion and still kick ass.
* GeneralRipper: Though he did show restraint compared to Durex since he did act rationally in his campaign in Hycrest with focusing on reclaiming defensive outposts.
* HiddenDepths: see the spoiler tag in TragicKeepsake.
* KlingonPromotion: Took this position by challenging a duel with his friend Zarkuna One-Horned to spare his shame from being executed for his defeat against the Exiles in one battle.
* PragmaticVillainy: Refuses to let Draken soldiers commit honourable suicide as that would be impractical. They are offered one last chance, though: victory, or kill yourself if they are beaten once more.
* TragicKeepsake: [[spoiler: the skull on his left-side of his pauldron actually is his former friend and predecessor, Zakuna One-Horn, which he killed him in a duel to spare him from the shame of being executed after getting most of his contingent wiped out by Exiles' ambush.]]

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Commander Antevian]]
!! "The Invincible" Commander Toric "Vigilant Star" Antevian

->''"There is no greater service than service to the church."''

Cassian, Lowborn. Commander of the Radiant Legion, the Vigilant Church's militant force.
----
* AloofBigBrother: The big brother of the equation.
* CelibateHero: Defied. [[spoiler:He has an illicit romantic relationship with Artemis Zin. Dominion Media is going to have a field day with this if it ever comes to light. However this has more to do with piety and caste system rather than requirement for celibacy.]]
* TheFaceless: Never seems to take off his helmet, obscuring most of his face sans the slit in the middle.
* HumbleHero: Surprisingly chill and downplays his achievements, which only seeks to make him more popular and loved.

->''"Oh, that '''was''' unfortunate..."''

----
* CoolMask
* GoodShepherd: A female variant.

%%->'''Voiced by Courtenay Taylor'''

->''Voiced by J.B. Blanc''

* NoKillLikeOverkill: His philosophy.

* IgnoredExpert

* FriendToAllLivingThings
* IJustWantToHaveFriends: Her reason for [[spoiler: lying about sharing a body with the Entity. She didn't want to drive away her only friend.]]

The Exiles and the Dominion aren't the only ones interested in Nexus. From interstellar corporations, criminal organizations, to regular old spacefarers, these people are looking to make a buck or simply start a new life.

[[folder:C.o.G.S.]]
!! C.o.G.S.

C.o.G.S., or Coalition of Galactic Scientists, is an organisation that focus their attention on research that would benefit everyone in the universe. The members included races from both Exiles and Dominion, which would be jarring to those who aren't familiar with C.o.G.S. They served in the game as caretakers of Sim Core simulation in both Exiles and Dominion territories.
----
* AdventurerArchaeologist: How each indivual members of C.o.G.S work on Nexus.
* ArtifactCollectionAgency: Their excavation of Sim Core on Nexus counts as this role.
* {{NGO}}: Served as this in Wildstar Universe, which they allowed players from both Dominion and Exiles to participate in Sim Core simulations.
* RebelliousRebel: Many scientists of races from Exiles faction might count as this.
* ScienceHero: The main purpose of their organization.
* TeamSwitzerland: The members renounced their political affiliation to join the group; as a result, the neutrality of the organisation caused scientists from both Exiles and Dominion races can be seen working together.

[[folder:Protostar]]

Should you ever want or need for pretty much ''anything,'' Protostar will sell it. Just expect to buy it at the "right, imperceptibly inflated price," and with a few strings attached...
----
* ACMEProducts: Safe to say they produce and sell pretty much anything and everything.
* BloodSport: Hosted Protostar Games and Bloodrose Bowl as entertainment.
* {{Megacorp}}: In pure sci-fi traditional, complete with moral ambiguity.
* NoOSHACompliance: Due to their profit-minded nature, Protostar tend to less regulation and quality in their products. Even if they have their own regulation board, their reliability is to be questioned.
** This trait would later apply in Protostar's Winterfest, which the adventure involved trying to solve the problems from their shortcoming (Flammable products, rat plague, and even robot staffs having [[AIisaCrapshoot troubles in their programming]]).

!! Phineas T. Rotostar and Clones

->''"Protostar: making dreams come true! For money! (Protostar corporation is not responsible for making actual dreams come true.)"''
->'''Voiced by Cory Hendron'''

* TooDumbToLive: Their own greed became detrimental to their own lives since they even tried to make business with [[AliensAreBastards Ikthians]] despite their lack of interest in interstellar trade. Though they realized it and started putting them on bounty.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Ekose]]
!! Ekose

->''"Yep, fine skies for flyin' today, you betcha!"''

Blue-skinned, feline bipedals, Ekose make their living among the stars, hauling cargo to and fro.
----
* BizarreSexualDimorphism: Males stand perfectly straight. Females are hunched over, with long visible tails.
* ProudMerchantRace: They pray to a "Blessed Navigator" for safe travels and swift deliveries. It's rare to see an Ekose doing any other job than freight hauling. It is safe to say that their entire society is built on trade and travel.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Freebots]]

-> ''"Greetings, fellow Sentient!"''

A contingency of Protostar robotic laborers, reprogrammed with free will. Although they generally choose to retain their original programmed purpose, they now do so out of choice.
----
* BenevolentAI: The majority of Freebots are quite friendly, and very enthusiastic about working with other sentient life forms. They see no rhyme nor reason to warring against their fellow intelligent species, and thus have no quarrel with them.
* CuteMachines: Some of them are larger and more imposing than others, but they are all quite humanoid in build, with simplified faces and wide eyes.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Lopp]]
!! Lopp

->''"Shinies..."''

Diminutive treasure-hunters who resemble bipedal, 3 foot tall rabbits. They are biologically obsessed with "shinies," precious metals or anything that glows in the sun.
----
* AttentionDeficitOohShiny: The mere presence of "Shinies", objects that glow in the sun, will cause their brains to literally shut-down and become overwhelmed with an intense desire to get the shiny as their own.
* ProudMerchantRace: Travel the stars in search of more shinies to trade or find.
* RidiculouslyCuteCritter: Big eyes, two heads tall(not including ears), tiny widdle paws, soft and fuzzy.

A famous Lopp hero, he is a prime example of Frontier Justice, dealing death and punishment to those who dare threaten his people.
----
* BadassAdorable[=/=]PintSizedPowerhouse: 3 feet high, is essentially a walking, talking, intelligent rabbit with a sombrero on. Frequently takes on enemies 2-3 times his size, outnumbered 6-1, and ''wins.''
* GoodIsNotNice: If you are a cruel oppressor, Yatish will kill you, kill your comrades, and burn your camp to the ground, making a grisly example for anyone who dares preys on the weak.
* KillerRabbit: He is seldom seen without dozens of freshly-skewered corpses strewn around him. [[http://imgur.com/j7hLeVC LOOK AT THE BONES!!]]

----
* AscendToAHigherPlaneOfExistence: Their ultimate goal.
* BodyHorror: All cultists are, or will be, cybernetic monsters.
* CargoCult: They see Augmentation as a means of ascension to the level of the Eldan, thus their name and obsession with the technique. Interestingly, their leader, [[spoiler:Calidor Antevian]], was not augmented but recombinated, instead.
* UnwillingRoboticisation: Their SOP to those unwilling to see "the Truth."

A powerful and well-organized crime syndicate, driven by brutality, wealth, and power, plus all the lastest and greatest fashion trends. Known for extortion, intimidation, and violence in ''style.'' They are composed of humans, and Krogg, giant, hulking reptilian aliens.
----
* EqualOpportunityEvil: Aside from the scores of generic humans and Krogg, some Exiles, Cassians, Granok, Aurin, and Chua have been seen in the cartel.
* FantasticDrug: Slushbrew or just "Slush", a highly addictive form of moonshine.
* GeniusBruiser: Krogg are large, with well-tuned predatory instincts, and dangerously intelligent.
* HellBentForLeather: The majority of their attire, especially their coats, were made from leather and even had a gimp mask for their Chompacabra.
* SlaveryIsASpecialKindOfEvil: One of the few organisation, especially Grim Slavers, who practiced slave trade and labor based on them.
* TheSyndicate: Have operations all over the galaxy. Nexus is just their latest, and quite possibly most profitable endeavour. Journals hint to slave trades, extortion, and plundering of fashion boutiques all over the galaxy.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Ikthians]]
!! Ikthians

A race of amphibious, highly technologically advanced aliens hailing from Ikthia. They were just like any other modern race, doing good for themselves but unable to really become a superpower in the galaxy, until they discovered how to harness the incredibly volatile energy of Primal Water. Their technology nearly unparalleled in raw potential and energy, the Ikthians have begun a cruel campaign of destruction and experimentation to further their "supremacy".
----
* ANaziByAnyOtherName: Believe themselves to be superior to every race, consider every other race free game in dissection and horrific experiments.
* AlienAbduction: Main perpetrators on Nexus.
* TheEmpire: Not quite as large as the Dominion, but they are still a very palpable threat with their technology.
* EvilCounterpart: To the Dominion. Although the Dominion may not be a saint, they are more benevolent than the Ikthians.
* ForScience: Also lack moral ethics even by Chua and Mordesh standards.

[[folder:Marauders]]

Descended from Merchant Crews who fought in the Trader's War, Marauders are bloodthirsty spacefaring pirates, a menace to freight captains and really, anyone with a ship. They are composed of the Oghra, the Eeklu, and the Grund.
----
* DumbMuscle: Grund are not particularly intelligent.
* EvilCounterpart: To the Exiles, to some extent. A band of different races banding together after being exiled from their homes.
* SpacePirates: Originally from three races of merchants, the Marauders were cornered during the Trader's War and eventually turned to boarding other ships, plundering their loot, and kidnapping their crews and passengers.

!!Ish'mael the Bloodied

The whole planet's crawling with '''psychopathic killers!''' Uhh!"''

A Marauder who hosts the "Classes" Flick. He went to Nexus thinking it would be easy pickings, only to suffer at the hands of each class in ''WildStar''.
---
* TheChewToy
* {{Determinator}}: In spite of how badly each class takes him out, he still keeps at it up until he encounters a medic.
* DrowningTheirSorrows: "Fill 'er up, barkeep! I got me woes a-plenty!"
