[[folder:Tarak Empire]]

The world of the men that's based on totalitarian and militaristic societies. Due to being on a desert planet, they have little resources and, aside from women, hate it when resources are wasted. They focus on mobility, practicality, and one's inner strength in order

!!In General

* Badass
** FourStarBass: The commanding officer who [[spoiler:joins Hibiki in the final fight against the Harvesters. He shows it by destroying a Vandread EvilKnockoff and a mothership!]]
** BadassArmy
** WorldOfBadass: And how, in literal terms! Despite having serious disadvantages in resources and technology, they're still able to hold out well on their own. Justified as it's part of their culture.
* BoringButPractical: Their main Bangata units aren't much and have to ranged weapons due to the Taraks' low technology, but they have really useful features and various different melee weapons. One instance, they can be operate in both planet AND space operations.
* CloningBlues: They're reproduced through cloning.
* DesignerBabies: As part of the above trope.
* FantasyCounterpartCulture: Based on various militaristic, industrialized, totalitarian societies: Nazi Germany, Soviet Russia, Samurai, Spartans, you name it.
* FoodPills: The Taraks' main food source, which are ''very'' awful in taste, but ''extremely'' beneficial to keep them going for almost ''months''. In contrast to the Mejere, which is why [[BigEater Hibiki seriously gulps it down.]]
* HeManWomanHater: They despise women and see them as liver-eaters. And it makes sense a lot to how their culture contrasts greatly with the men.
* HumongousMecha: Their main Bangata units, though the "Humongous" part is averted as they're tiny compared to the Mejere Dreads.
* KineticWeaponsAreBetter: They use standard conventional weapons in contrast to women's lasers, but they're effective by their own right, [[spoiler:especially against the Harvesters.]]
* NoSexAllowed: There really aren't many love-sex relationships in Tarak since everyone is a guy and there are little yaoi relationships with exceptions like Duero [[spoiler:and possibly Bart.]]
* PlanetOfHats: Everyone is a guy. Deconstructed that [[spoiler:they're made to be worn by the Harvesters.]]
* ProudWarriorRaceGuy: A literal form of it. They consider this a necessity for ''all'' Taraks to keep their civilization alive.
* TrueCompanions: Another requirement as a Tarak and one of their beneficial qualities.

The world of women, coming from a lust world full of CrystalSpiresAndTogas. They have a very advanced world with a culture polar opposite of the men. Their reproduction methods are the same as normal humans except having to merge two eggs cells together artificially. However, due to the

!!In General

* AwesomeButImpractical: Mejere weapons are cool and shiny, but they're very useless on certain occasions. For example, the Dreads are unable to do planetary operations the way their Bangata counterparts can.
* BeautyIsGoodness: Played with. Beauty is everything to the Mejere and they're willing to fight over one another for it.
* CivilWar: Downplayed. Unlike Tarak, the women are more prone to fighting each other to be the best. There are also the SpacePirates.
* CloningBlues: Like the Taraks despite keeping the same reproduction methods.
* CombatPragmatist: To cover for their AwesomeButImpractical features, they use underhanded tactics.
* DesignerBabies: Like the Taraks, see above example.
* DoesNotLikeMen: Women from this world really don't get along with their opposite gender.
* PlanetOfHats: Everyone on Mejere is a woman. Deconstructed that [[spoiler:they're made to be worn by the Harvesters.]]
* ShinyLookingSpaceships
* SpaceFighter: The Dreads.
* SpacePirates: Due to failures thanks to their out-of-control waste of resources, many Mejere resort to this that attack both sides.
** The main crew of the Nirava are also made of this.
* StrawFeminist: In the eyes of Tarak.

!!Harvesters

The main antagonists of the series, first found after the Nirvana is sucked into another part of the galaxy. They're made up of cube-like beings that combine to create their ships and other weapons.

[[spoiler:They're actually from Earth, which uses organs from nearby colonists to continue in their devastated atmosphere.]]

* [[BlackAndRedAllOver Black And Magenta All Over]]
* DangerouslyGenreSavvy: They learn from their battles and bring it ''hard'' on the Nirvana.
** Once they know they can't win on a direct fight, they lure the Nirvana in an asteroid belt and fighters well suited for the scene.
** They also know dangerous the Vandreads can be, so they attack those who can combine with Hibiki before it happens. This is shown when they lore the Nirvana in an asteroid field and [[spoiler:attack Meia and disable her Dread, keeping them from the Vandread Meia capable of handling situation, from coming to be.]]
* EvilKnockoff: [[spoiler:They make copies of the Nirvana and Vandreads.]]
* ForgotToLevelGrind: Averted, unlike most mecha series. They learn from their battles and come with new challenges for our heroes.
* MechanicalLifeforms: [[spoiler:That use human blood and tissue.]]
** [[spoiler:OrganicTehnology: They need to in order to collect human organs.]]

!![[spoiler:Earthling Child]]

[[spoiler:The commander of the Harvester fleet in the last episode of the Second Stage. He's found on the "Big-Boy" world-destroying warship that leads the assault on the Tarak and Mejere. There is more than his command over the Harvesters at his disposal thanks to the second Peksis core stationed in his ship.]]

* EnfanteTerrible
* EvilCounterpart: [[spoiler:Seen as this to Hibki himself for his stubborn nature. The difference is he's not willing to open up like Hibiki is.]]
* FantasticRacism: [[spoiler:Looks down on colonist worlds and sees them as mere resources for his dying world. He also accuses the colonists for abandoning their original homeworld, making that a justification of the Harvesters' onslaught.]]
* LonelyAtTheTop: [[spoiler:Hibiki accuses him of being this, which ''really'' sets him off.]]
