He shamelessly [[ManipulativeBastard manipulates and corrupts any living being into committing atrocities]] [[ItAmusedMe out of a pathological need for stimulation by causing a chain of catastrophic events just for kicks]], [[LackOfEmpathy feels no genuine concern for others besides himself]] and [[EvilCannotComprehendGood lacks emotional understanding of the power of goodwill]].

* CryForTheDevil: [[spoiler:Tregear might be a messed up, sociopathic StrawNihilist; calling out Taro's name in a sorrowful voice just as before he is destroyed along with Grimdo makes enough sense not only that they were once friends, but at least he can see his former friend's suffering end and find peace.]]

* TheSociopath: Tregear, for all his [[BlueAndOrangeMorality diluted morality]] and [[StrawNihilist nihilistic worldview]], has the criteria of a textbook sociopath. While he has the [[FauxAffablyEvil charm and charisma]], he enjoys manipulating ([[PlayingBothSides both good and bad guys alike]]) and tormenting everybody he comes across with, along with the pathological need to orchestrate chain of, if not entirely, catastrophic events for his own sick amusement. His rap sheet can even be as petty as blowing a young girl's balloon.

* JokerImmunity: ''Absolutely nothing'' can kill this devil of a trickster. [[spoiler:His feature novel reveals that its because of the ability to cheat death by having a body double from an alternate universe taking his place]].

The protagonist and human host of the Tri Squad. A young member of the private security organization E.G.I.S., Hiroyuki has a kind heart and a strong sense of justice. He was attacked by an alien when he was a child, but was saved by the light of Ultraman Taiga who unexpectedly arrived on Earth. Since then, Ultraman Taiga had dwelt inside him. As the story goes on, he encounters Titas and Fuma as well, and become buddies with them.

!! Zegan

* MythologyGag: Zegan's role in this series is based on Oil Drinker from ''Series/UltramanTaro'': both were monster weapons from a previous season (Oil Drinker is a Choju, a sub-type of monsters from ''Series/UltramanAce'') and were beaten by a natural-born but stronger monsters who get to be the titular Ultra's first kill.

A young mother monster that came to Earth in pursuit of its baby, which had been captured by aliens in order to give Zegan something to demonstrate its power against. The battle did not go very well for the bat-like kaiju, but things got even worse with the arrival of Hellberus.

* MamaBear: So ferociously protective of its child that it was willing to battle the far stronger Zegan and Hellberus to save it.

Hellberus is the first kaiju that was summoned by Kirisaki to Earth, interrupting the ongoing battle between Zegan and Zandrias. With sharp blades growing all over parts of its body, it can slice through nearly any objects easily, making it an appropriately formidable beginner enemy in Hiroyuki's career as Ultraman Taiga. The monster was later brought back by Kirisaki alongside Night Fang to fight against Fuma and Titas when Taiga was successfully corrupted by Tregear.

* BreathWeapon: Breathes fire.

* HeroicSacrifice: For all the trouble Hiroyuki goes into saving Chibisuke, the monster sacrificed itself to protect Taiga and its old friend from Tregear's attack. Sniff.

* CameBackWrong: He's a human who died in the cold vacuum of space and got revived as a HumongousMecha.

* TheLostLenore: While Rento died with his wife, he becomes this trope when Tregear revived '''only''' him.

* WreckedWeapon: It's Galactron Veil shattered to pieces by a single punch from Titas.

* DrunkOnMilk: Almost literally. It's revealed here that his species become intoxicated by yogurt.
* MundaneObjectAmazement: When he notices a bottle cap Hiroyuki's been carrying around, he becomes extremely interested in it, claiming they are extremely valuable on his homeworld.

* AdaptationalWimp: Its justified that the original Deavorick was summoned by Mulnau and the Dark Ring, hence the ability to crystallize everything on its sight and able to defeat Ultraman X himself. Here, Deavorick is just a monster weapon whose easily trashed by another Ultraman from O-50, Fuma.

* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler:In penitence for all the planets she has destroyed in her career, Aoi transfers her life force from her crystal ball to re-energize Titas and weaken Segmeger..]]

* HumanAliens: It's not entirely clear if he is in a disguise or not, however.

* MythologyGag: Ghose's spaceship resembles a smaller version of the box-like object t[[Series/UltraSeven he original Ghose aliens released Pandon from during their invasion of Earth]]. It's even equipped with a smaller and less powerful version of the drill-tipped missiles the aliens used to destroy major cities in their debut.

* LightningBruiser: Ribut is perhaps one of the most agile Ultramen, being able to dodge enemy fire that he is running towards. He often performs jumps and flips and has excellent reaction time for something so massive as an Ultra. He is also capable of fighting on equal terms with [[TheDreaded Ultraman Tregear]], who is an evil Ultraman in the same power level as Geed's Ultimate Final form and [[FusionDance Ultraman Groob]].

* GreaterScopeVillain: [[spoiler:He's the mastermind behind the League of Darkness in ''Ultra Galaxy Fight'' and is also the one who orders the kidnapping of Ultrawoman Grigio, which sets the motion of the miniseries]]. Tsuburaya did very little to hide his presence.

The major antagonist of ''Ultraman Taiga The Movie'', this being was a monster that already sealed [[spoiler: within Tregear's body, which explains his ridiculously overpowered status in most of his appearances. When Taiga Tri-Strium defeated Tregear at the final season]], it broke the seal that leads to Grimud's escape, so the New Generation Heroes have to seal it again in a special barrier at the cost of their transformations. Not that it would stop the monster from appearing in the movie's climax, though.

* SealedEvilInACan: Its second seal was made by the New Generation Heroes at the cost of their transformation powers.
* SealedInsideAPersonShapedCan: [[spoiler:Grimud's true nature is that it was imprisoned within Tregear's own body and had been the source of his tremendous power ever since]].

* WasOnceAMan: Like all of O-50's chosen Ultramen, he was probably a human before being given his powers.

* FakeShemp: Be it ''Galaxy Fight'' or ''Taiga The Movie'', her human host Asahi is non-present and is entire in her Ultrawoman form.

* BrainwashedAndCrazy: Taro becomes one after being possessed by the dark power in Taiga's feature movie.

Alien partners living together in human disguises. The two had lived in peace for most of their time on Earth, but things changed with Kirisaki paid them a visit and convinced Komori that aliens should not be living in disguise amongst humans but openly ruling over them. As a result, Komori became bitter about how aliens would never be able to come out in the open on Earth.

* ContrastingSequelAntagonist: Despite his similarities with Belial given that they were [[FallenHero fallen Ultras]] and close friends with one of the members of the Space Garrison, the differences that Tregear was more of a StrawNihilist sadistic trickster and manipulator who enjoys causing mayhem for the hell of it, whereas Belial is more of a power-hungry, intergalactic tyrant.

* WreckedWeapon: Its Galactron Veil shattered to pieces by a single punch from Titas.

** To [[Series/UltramanMebius Ultraman Hikari]], it's made even more apparent in the ''Blue Shadow'' novel. As they are both blue-bodied Ultras who gave in to the darkness after a fateful incident that changed their lives. Hikari became Hunter Knight Tsurugi out of his vendetta quest against Bogar. Tregear became more cynical and nihilistic after overhearing Hikari and Belial's fall from grace, as well dismissing the concept of good and evil as nothing more but false beliefs, and willingly absorbed an all-powerful {{Kaiju}} into himself into becoming the most dangerous being in the universe. Unlike Tregear though, Hikari pulled a HeelFaceTurn after being reasoned by Ryu Aihara into releasing Kazuya Serizawa and reclaimed his identity as an Ultraman.
