* BlackmailBackfire: How she ends up in Ponyville.

* HookerWithAHeartOfGold: Very, very much subverted. She is a professional escort, but she's manipulative, cruel and power-hungry, practically the worst sort of pony one could see in the role. One of her few, and possibly only, redeeming qualities is how protective she is of children and the innocent.
* MySensorsIndicateYouWantToTapThat: Her trick in a nutshell. It's basicly a very limited but ''incredibly focused'' version of mind reading that lets her know what would most please someone sexually.
* PowerPerversionPotential: In this case the perversion isn't her talent itself, which in-universe is regarded as an aid to a perfectly legal profession, but what she was using it ''for'' - namely, blackmailing every single CovertPervert in high society she could get her magic on.
* PragmaticPansexuality: It's part of her job as an escort, but she takes it a bit too far (even to herself) when she was seriously considering how best to bed ''Discord'' at the start of Anchor Foal.
* SleepingTheirWayToTheTop: She used this as a cover for what she was really doing in Canterlot.

* MoneyDumb: Downplayed for Rainbow. She's horrible at budgeting, prone to impulse purchases, and has been known to fly around borrowing money from friends because she didn't remember the need to pick up groceries until ''after'' sending the payment for that original Wonderbolts advertising broadside. (She also eats many of her meals while visiting, which incidentally saves her from having to cook.) Everypony knows she can't save any money -- but she's been proven as equally incapable of going into long-term debt: as soon as the next pay voucher comes in, the first flight circuit is used to repay everypony. Which leaves her short on cash -- and the cycle starts all over again.

Dewicking per TRS decision.

* BiTheWay: Combined with HasAType. She's seldom attracted to mares, and those few who do gain her attention tend to come off poorly during the inevitable comparisons with her first crush, but she has officially been attracted to both stallions and mares.

* BiTheWay: [[Recap/TriptychContinuumIfIGaveYouDiamondsAndPearls If I Gave You Diamond And Pearls]] has Rarity noting that love can be described as friendship which has caught fire -- and then acknowledges the possibility that such could one day happen to her. Combining this with her in-story reaction to that thought seems to confirm her as at least bi-curious.

* ColdTurkeysAreEverywhere: One of the nastiest things about ''falling''. Lyra can never be truly free of her addiction, not when the thing to which she is addicted is etched into her very soul.
* FunctionalAddict: As lampshaded by Bon Bon in [[Recap/TriptychContinuumHalf Half!]]. Lyra can never truly be free of her addiction without denying her talent (which is possibly even worse for pony psychology than ''falling''), the best she can manage is to keep it at a level where it won't completely ruin her life.

She also seems to try and discourage Luna from any kind of activity, and both siblings appear to have pleaded with Cadance not to go ahead with the wedding. This at the very least likely stems from her immortality causing her to outlive lovers, but whether or not she also suffers from a cast of TheFirstCutIsTheDeepest like Luna is unknown.

accordingly]].

!!!Anchor Foal Tropes:
* ADayInTheLimelight: Is the viewpoint character/protagonist for [[Fanfic/AnchorFoal Anchor Foal: A Romantic Cringe Comedy]].
* BiTheWay: Offers her services to stallions and mares without discrimination and has indicated she can enjoy sex with both. This may border on ExtremeOmnisexual, but possibly only on a professional level: there's been hints that she's been with someone from one of the other species at least once -- which could have been nothing more than serving as their escort hire.
* {{Blackmail}}: She favors a form of SexualExtortion -- the ability to know ''exactly'' what a pony likes, even for those things which would normally be kept concealed, can give her a lot to work with. However, Celestia points out that she's not very ''good'' at it: while Fleur was able to collect funds, Celestia's investigations found enough ponies who were willing to talk to give the Princess enough evidence to convict.
* BoxedCrook: As part of her informal sentencing, she's outfitted with an enchanted titanium bracelet that contains a powerful tracking spell. It can pass for jewelry, but it also doesn't come off. (There's also some minor workings present to prevent fur damage and fungal infections.)
* ComplexityAddiction: Downplayed. It might look that way at first when Fleur would rather try to learn who the other Bearers are on her own rather than simply asking Fluttershy, but she doesn't want to give off the appearance of ''prying'' and shut the pegasus down. This doesn't get any better when she learns that at least part of Ponyville will actively protect the Bearers from such inquiries, trying to let them lead normal lives.
* CrazyPrepared: She had a mentor who trained her how to do a ''lot'' of different things. Like setting those really nasty compound fractures where the bone breaks through the skin. Or defeating an ostrich with her bare hooves.
* CrossCulturalKerfuffle: Alongside speculation about what her apparent origins in Protocera, the griffon nation, have caused for her interactions with Equestrian ponies, in chapter 20, she makes the mistake of offering some of her Protoceran Pony Cuisine to a pegasus customer whilst trying to be friendly. She's morbidly impressed at the result: she didn't know it was ''possible'' for a pegasus to simultaneously fly and projectile vomit.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Something very, ''very'' nasty happened to her when she was a little filly. She mentions in chapter three that she didn't earn her mark normally; it's something she developed as a result of something that ''happened''. There's also been evidence that she was homeless for a time: she regards an abandoned building as a potential means of sourcing shelter. And there may be a [[MentorOccupationalHazard dead mentor]] in play... Chapter 18 reveals she was once forced to consume Thought Poison, a horrifically nasty toxic compound that causes intense pain in sapients (and a swift, but painless, death in non-sapients). In chapter 19, she's horrified when she realizes that she sent Zipporwhill off with Snowflake without first using her Talent to check that he isn't a pedophile. Fans have speculated that she may have been a ''filly prostitute''.
* DidYouJustFlipOffCthulhu: In chapter seven, despite being absolutely terrified of Discord, she still manages to snark at him quite extensively -- mostly because she refuses to let him see just how afraid she is. This is then partially deconstructed at the moment he ''leaves'': Fleur immediately collapses into the grass and lies there trembling for as long as she can get away with, and gets to suffer multiple nightmares as soon as she goes to sleep.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: Is absolutely outraged to hear that Celestia isn't paying the obviously poverty-stricken Fluttershy anything for being a Bearer of Harmony. Likewise, she had every intention of playing her role as matchmaker to Fluttershy dead straight, considering the idea of deliberately setting her up with somepony she won't get on with to be reprehensible.
-->''Sun and Moon, what kind of '''monster''' kicks somepony into a fight with Nightmare and doesn't even '''pay'''...''
* FluffyTamer: Well, it's not so much "taming" as "terrifying Angel Bunny into avoiding her and never daring to try his usual bully routine" in chapter four, where she achieves this feat by sweetly informing she cares about his life to the ''exact'' same extent he cares about hers, and then giving him a toothy grin.
** It's been noted that she seems to know an unusual amount about animals. Fleur isn't on Fluttershy's level, but she's capable of recognizing several examples of species behavior and has indicated she's served as a veterinarian's assistant at least once.
* FriendToAllChildren: Sees innocence as something which has to be protected at all costs, and so has a soft spot for the young. She's also extremely careful around any child whom she knows to be developing a crush on her, trying not to encourage or hurt them.
* HiddenDepths: After actually setting up in Ponyville, Fleur starts showing there's a lot more to her than just a blackmailing escort. (Which doesn't mean she isn't keeping an eye out for future blackmail material.)
* HeartIsAnAwesomePower: Fleur managed to turn her talent, which boils down to the rapid deduction of a pony's exact sexual interests, into a formidable tool for finding blackmail. She's also capable of using it as an extra sense in its own right, and could rewrite any number of books on sexual psychology.
* ItsAllAboutMe: Genuinely can't see why all of her blackmailing was ''wrong'' and why she deserves to be punished.
* MortalityPhobia: One of Fleur's defining traits. Her inner monologue shows her to be obsessed with ''time'': when she's thinking over what Celestia did to her, it's the effective loss of the time she spent in Canterlot that she fixes on, and she instantly and categorically rejects Time Turner upon seeing that his mark is an hourglass -- a rejection only enforced by finding out his name.
** Invoked in chapter 19, when she considers her mission, and then logically wonders what Discord would do if, say, Fluttershy ''died'' on a mission.
* PetTheDog: Despite the Cutie Mark Crusaders running into her, she's very patient and understanding with them, warns them that they don't want to experience what she went through to get her mark, and promises to keep quiet about their whole "accidentally chased a deer into town" misadventure.
** Also, she's extremely patient with Fluttershy, and outraged on her behalf both at the idea that Celestia is giving her no financial support and when she believes Celestia is forcing Fluttershy to have foals.
* ThePornomancer: Fleur's Talent is an extremely narrow and specialized form of [[TheEmpath empathy]] that lets her quickly and completely identify and understand a pony's sexual desires. It really adds something to an escort's career when they can do ''exactly'' what a client most desires before that individual ever asks -- and knowing a pony's darkest desires can provide a wealth of blackmail material.
* RaisedByOrcs: Fleur's acceptance of the cycle of predator and prey, and her own attitudes about the importance of not being prey, has resulted in speculation that she was actually raised by griffons, hence her far more aggressive and cynically pragmatic mentality, compared to the softer ponies around her. Pretty much confirmed in chapter 20, where it reveals that she genuinely ''likes'' Protoceran Pony Cuisine... aka, "vegetables cooked with meat, so they absorb the flavor". She even considers it comfort food.
* TheRival: Downplayed, but it's implied she's one of many ponies who feels this way about Photo Finish: Fleur ''hates'' the fashion agent for tricking innocent models out of all the money they earn for their modelling. In this case, Photo Finish hates Fleur right back for having evaded this fate by actually reading the fine print before signing, and used her own contacts to cause a little early damage to Fleur's escort career. (Fleur states that the photographer is a leading cause of models transitioning to escorts because a lot of ponies decide that if they're going to spend their lives getting screwed, they might as well get paid for it.)
* SillyRabbitIdealismIsForKids: Mocks the concept of Honesty being important enough to deserve a position as one of the Six Elements, to the point that finding out this was true actually gave her a genuine laugh.

* {{Determinator}}: Has this as his ''special talent'', although it generally only applies to physical endeavors and is still subject to the ultimate limitations of his body. Still, when he sets his mind to a goal, everypony else is well-advised to get out of the way... [[spoiler:And then it turns out that his talent has broader applications than he realized...]]

* {{Gonk}}: On the border. He's at least generally considered to be unattractive, not possessing features so much as facial geography: the build and stunted wings don't help. Fleur feels his best feature is his voice -- which, in public, mostly intones variations on "Yeah."

* RealityWarper: [[spoiler:Downplayed, but as [[Recap/TriptychContinuumADuetForLandAndSky A Duet For Land and Sky]] reveals, his mark allows him to use determination to achieve physically impossible things; in a sense, if he ''wants'' it enough, it ''will'' happen. For starters, it's how he's able to fly at all; his amputated wings would never be able to physically manipulate air enough in order to achieve flight, no matter how much muscle he puts behind it. During a brawl with Big Mac, he not only manages to physically overpower the Earth Pony stallion when he decides he ''wants'' to beat him, but when he flings Mac into soil, rather than it cushioning the impact, the vibrations ricochet back into Mac, because Snowflake ''wanted him to hurt''. Likewise, when he is held prisoner inside one of Miranda Rights' bubble-shields, he intuitively senses that if he wanted to break out, he could.]]
* TheReveal: Forms the core of his early story in [[Recap/TriptychContinuumADuetForLandAndSky A Duet For Land and Sky]]: [[spoiler: he learns he's a ''hybrid'', with an artificial infusion of earth pony soul into a pegasus body at birth. Also, he can't fly because of his training; [[RealityEnsues there's just not enough wing left to let any amount of muscle propel him into the air]]. Instead, he flies because his talent lets him mildly warp reality based on his drive to achieve something.]]

* WrongContextMagic: [[spoiler:As one of Gentle Arrival's high-risk deliveries, Snowflake was changed into a ''hybrid'' at birth: a foal imbued with the ''essence'' of a dead pony from a different tribe. to:

** Takes on a darker cast in [[Recap/TriptychContinuumADuetForLandAndSky A Duet For Land and Sky]]: [[spoiler:He learns that since his ability to fly at all actually stems from the power of his talent, bulking up to the extent he did was pointless, and just made him even more of an outcast than his mangled wings and limited flying skills would have already done.]]

** It's been speculated that this is why her ''trick'' is a silencing spell: she was that desperate to have a way to make her parents ''shut up''.

Anchor Foal now has its own story page.

A former escort (of the sexual variety) and blackmailer reluctantly taken under Fancypants' wing in order to try and redeem her to using her formidable information gathering skills for the good of Equestria instead of just her own self-aggrandizement. It's a... slow process. In the AlternateContinuity of the story ''[[Recap/TriptychContinuumAnchorFoal Anchor Foal: A Romantic Cringe Comedy]]'', Fancy Pants never took her on as a student and instead she wound up becoming even worse. Because it's unclear how much the details of Anchor Foal match up to the canon continuum (although almost all tropes from canon appear in Anchor Foal), her tropes are separated accordingly,

[[folder:Sweetbark]]
!! Sweetbark

Ponyville's official vet, Sweetbark has a special "arrangement" with Fluttershy that allows the latter to continue serving animals in the community despite lacking any official license. A pity that her "arrangement" is so one-sided and abusive.

* ADegreeInUseless: Sweetbark clings desperately to the fact she has a formal veterinary license and Fluttershy doesn't to maintain her authority. Except that, as Fleur cuttingly points out, Sweetbark refuses to perform the most ugly, yet necessary, part of being a vet, meaning that her license may as well be tissue paper.
* AmbitionIsEvil: Zigzagged. It was long speculated that Sweetbark sends all of the "risky" cases to Fluttershy because she's desperate to promote and protect her reputation as a "miracle worker". In ''Anchor Foal'', it's alternatively suggested that she does the things she does because she doesn't have the strength to face euthanizing animals.
* BelievingTheirOwnLies: All evidence so far is that she ''really believes'' her claims of doing Fluttershy a favor by "passing on" the riskier cases to Fluttershy
* CondescendingCompassion:
** When she first meets Fleur in ''Anchor Foal'', she immediately reacts with a torrent of sweetly-phrased condescension, so overtly so that Fleur decides she mustn't even be aware of how condescending she really is.
** When she defends sending all of the genuinely injured or dying animals to Fluttershy, she phrases it as if she's doing Fluttershy a ''favor''.
* TheGhost: For most of the Continuum, she was only ever mentioned. She makes her first on-screen appearance in chapter 19 of ''[[Recap/TriptychContinuumAnchorFoal Anchor Foal: A Romantic Cringe Comedy]]''.
* GlurgeAddict: She's incessantly speaking in the most saccharinely sweet way possible - more like an overblown kindergarten teacher than a vet, and she decorates her clinic with paint in the pastel tones of an overly sweet nursery, pictures of healthy animals, happy ponies with pets, and foal-drawn pictures of pets. Even her cutie mark - the heads of a cat, a dog and a duck - is described as looking more like some foal's animal mobile.
* GoodPeopleHaveGoodSex: The logical inversion of this - Bad People Have Bad Sex - is invoked when Fleur uses her [[ThePornomancer Talent]] to scan her, and is informed that Sweetbark is extremely sexually inactive and uninventive, making her an awful lover, which Fleur treats as more evidence of what a bad pony she is.
-->It would have been unfair to describe Sweetbark as 'frigid,' and it wasn't because the more enticing term of 'arctic' was just within reach. The mare (currently single, and strictly heterosexual) had ''some'' interest in sex, in that said interest level was higher than zero. It was just that...
-->In a related sense, it was sometimes unfair to describe sex as 'vanilla,' because the actual flavor was a pleasurable one. Fleur wasn't sure what vanilla had done to anypony in order to become associated with plain, boring, unimaginative, ''repetitive'' interaction. But in looking at Sweetbark's puzzle, Fleur was seeing a mare for whom vanilla was a risky proposition. The intensity of Prance vanilla would have put her into full retreat at the mere possibility of such ''scandalous'' activity. This was a mare for whom, if sex could be regarded as baking a cake, felt the act of creation consisted of pouring bleached flour into a mold, leaving it on the counter, and expecting something interesting to happen. Any lack of ''flavor'' was clearly the fault of the other party, because flour was where all cakes came from and so if you couldn't make ''flour'' interesting...
* HateSink: InUniverse, Fluttershy's friends '''despise''' her, and it's even implied that Fluttershy might hate her (as much as Fluttershy can be said to hate anyone). The readers certainly loathe her for forcing Fluttershy to take on all of the "risky" cases in Ponyville, which means that, more often than not, Fluttershy alone has to go through the trauma of euthanizing animals.
* SugaryMalice: She acts in the most [[TastesLikeDiabetes teeth-achingly saccharine]] "nice vet" you can imagine. Scratch the surface, and you have a selfish, self-righteous little bitch who is more than willing to force others to go through trauma she herself refuses to undergo.
