Removed references to Solstice lore, since it's not official. also minor updates for grammar/punctuation.

* EvenTheLovingHeroHasHatedOnes: Compassionate and willing to heal others at his own risk though the Doctor might be, he does have one exception to his mercy. He absolutely will ''not'' heal the Mayor after they reveal themself, courtesy of the Mayor previously cutting funds to Salem's hospital and threatening to banish the Doctor as a witch. The Cleric is more generous, being willing to cleanse poison and dreamweaving, but will still refuse to protect the Mayor from harm.

* ObviousRulePatch: Neither the Doctor nor Cleric can protect a revealed Mayor; otherwise, the Mayor would simply reveal on the first day and be invincible until the hidden healer is dead.

* MemeticLoser: The Medium is notorious for ''always'' being killed on the first night before it's possible for their role to provide any value. This isn't statistically true, but it's memorable enough when it happens to stick in the mind.

* {{Frameup}}: Makes innocents appear to be members of the Mafia, at least to Investigators and Sheriffs.

* TheDreaded: Lore presents him as one, being the only person that everyone fears. In-game, he is on par with the Serial Killer (immune to Basic Attacks and able to kill someone each night) with the added benefit of having trusted allies.

* TheDreaded: Lore presents him as one, being the only person that everyone fears. In-game, he is on par with the Serial Killer (immune to Basic Attacks and able to kill someone each night) with the added benefit of having trusted allies.

* PsychoForHire: He's a Serial Killer recruited into the Mafia.
* SerialKiller: His lore reveals that he is actually a Serial Killer who was hired by the Godfather.

* ItsAllMyFault: The Survivor blames himself for failing to protect his hometown's Mayor while he was still a Bodyguard, which set off the chain of events leading to that town's destruction by the Mafia. Part of the reason he keeps four bulletproof vests is to remind himself of his failure.

* ShellShockedVeteran:
** [[{{Fanon}} Pre-Solstice Writing Event lore]] presents [[https://town-of-salem.fandom.com/wiki/Custom_Stories#Survivor_stories a story]] of how the Survivor was held captive in a prisoner camp for twelve years, nine months, and twenty-six days, turning him into a shell-shocked loner bent on surviving no matter what.
** His official backstory reveals he was the last and SoleSurvivor of a town previously decimated by the Mafia, having been [[DistractedByTheSexy distracted by the Consort]]. He suffers from a great deal of SurvivorsGuilt as a result of surviving where his friends died, and is bent on ensuring he makes it through this town as a result.

* DudeWheresMyRespect: According to his backstory, the Townies he once dealt with treated him poorly despite his efforts to provide them with medical care. The memories of him being repeatedly screwed out of recognition, thrown in jail, and his house being invaded by an Investigator were a significant catalyst for him completing his FaceHeelTurn.

* FaceHeelTurn: He was once a Doctor that had an unhealthy fascination with diseases and several unpleasant Townies to deal with. Then the plague came to Salem, and he saw an opportunity to make the town pay.
* LaughingMad: His official backstory ends with the Plaguebearer (now transformed into Pestilence) laughing maniacally as the plague-bearing gas spreads throughout Salem, marking the moment they went ''completely'' nuts.

* ReligionOfEvil: As described above, he worships Pestilence.

* ShellShockedVeteran: His backstory reveals he was a soldier, traumatized into his current state by the sights of the war. He wants death via lynching so that he doesn't live with the paranoia wracking his mind.

* AbusiveParents: His official backstory indicates his parents [[DeniedFoodAsPunishment denied him food for a week]] when he failed a test at school.

* SuperStrength: According to his backstory, he can bend steel bars and smash cement like glass. Appropriately enough, he starts with strength on par with a transformed Werewolf.

* TrainingFromHell: Willingly put himself through this from childhood. He would sneak into a military training camp each night for ten years and train on their equipment all through the night, which would have been hellaciously rough on a full-grown man (much less a potentially pre-teen boy).

However, the Investigator needs to keep in mind roles like executing Jailors or Vigilantes before throwing accusations. Alternatively, he can Percept a player's house to see if they were visited by any Evil roles that night.

* AchillesHeel: The Investigator's kill detection relies on the killer ''directly'' targeting their victim ''during the night''. This means {{Counter Attack}}ing roles (Werewolves who stay home), roles that "trap" a house (Jinxes), roles that make someone else do the dirty work (Necromancers and Shrouds), or roles that attack during the day (Conjurers) won't have any blood to find.

* {{Foil}}: Becomes one to the Sheriff in ''Town of Salem 2''. The Investigator can easily find murderous roles, but this leaves him blind to characters like the Enchanter or Jester. The Sheriff's specialty is detecting enemies of the town that don't rely on killing, but the Coven member with the Necronomicon (who will be the one killing town members) and neutral killing roles are seen as not suspicious.
