* AttackItsWeakPoint: There are a couple of spots at the base of its head that can be attacked, provided the boss gets close enough to your territory for you to reach it. Slice them open to deal lasting damage and expose a vulnerability.
* CollapsingCeilingBoss: This boss is fond of striking the ceiling of the cavern to cause a shower of rubble. Its entire second phase is a prolonged shower of rubble before it finally slumps over for you to finish it off.

* TheBigGuy: Varg and his {{BFS}} tower over Corvus, and he has the physical might to match his appearance.
* ForceAndFinesse: The Force to Urd's Finesse.

* ForceAndFinesse: The Finesse to Varg's Force. Urd may not hit as hard as Varg but she is hard to catch and strikes swiftly.

* MirrorBoss: Anything Corvus can do, this boss can do as well -- aside from healing with potions or use Plague Weapons earned from bosses. This boss can even swap between mutually exclusive talents mid-battle.

----
* AmnesiacHero: Corvus has to figure out how to save the kingdom by exploring and piecing together his memories. Stages are termed "Recalls", the main currency is Memory Shards, and dying displays "Memory Interrupted".
* ButNowIMustGo: [[spoiler:In the Harmonized Force ending, the hybrid Blood in Hermes' Answer undoes all the effects of alchemy, but since Corvus himself is a product of this alchemy, he disappears with it, leaving Aisemy to work on a cure to the plague by herself.]]
* HalfHumanHybrid: [[spoiler:Emerald eventually reveals that Corvus is the result of one of Emerald's experimental plague treatments that involved implanting cells from animals and Sacred Trees. Corvus is one of the "lucky ones" who's been successfully transformed without losing humanity, though it would make him part-raven.]]
* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler:In the Power of Cleansing ending, Corvus jabs the crystal containing Hermes' Answer into himself, imparting it with his own memories as it dissipates across the kingdom. The cured populace understand that reckless use of alchemy has led to the disaster that wrought the Kingdom, and thus begin to advocate for other methods.]]
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: [[spoiler:If you get the Chaotic Power ending, Corvus looks distraught at the chaotic effects of the cure he synthesized.]]
* PlagueDoctor: Befitting the setting and his role, Corvus is one of the few immune to the plague that affects the Kingdom and is looking to synthesize a cure.

----
* MadScientist: Odur sees potential in Vile Blood and perceives the monstrosities surrounding the kingdom as "the next step in evolution". To this end, he uses the circus as a front for recruiting more experiment subjects, and eventually makes the God of the Fools as one of his ultimate projects.
* OneWingedAngel: The final bonus mission in the Sea of Trees puts you in a rematch with Odur. He injects himself with more Vile Blood and transforms into Mutated Odur, and uses his CombatTentacles to unleash new attacks and moves.
* WakeUpCallBoss: He can slip out of your reach before unleashing a fast attack combo that's hard to interrupt, and fling cards at you if you try to keep your distance. He teaches the player the value of parrying and the danger of over-committing to an attack combo.

----
* BackgroundBoss: The God of the Fools takes up the center of the stage you face it in. Rather than fight it directly, you climb through the scaffolding that surrounds it, avoiding its attacks and fighting through the {{Mook}}s in the way, until you reach a vantage point to deliver a OneHitKill.

The former queen of the Kingdom of Hermes has been mutated into a giant bat due to the alchemists' experiments with Pure and Vile Blood. She used to be contained beneath the Royal Gardens until unearthed by an earthquake that struck the area.
----
* HealingFactor: One of her moves sees her ingest the blood pooling in the Royal Gardens, causing her to heal rapidly, closing off any Wounds that the player hasn't capitalized on with Claw attacks.

A giant worm that tunnels deep beneath the Royal Gardens, made monstrous through ingesting all the Vile Blood that was disposed of by the Kingdom's alchemists.

[[folder:Varg]]

to:

[[folder:Varg]][[folder:Varg, the Grey Armor]]
Varg is the first of the knights to be augmented by Pure Blood, and has incredible strength and a gargantuan physique. However, continued maintenance of this Blessing and his repeated participation in war campaigns has taken a toll on his spirit.
----
* HopelessBossFight: The tutorial ends with a boss fight with Varg, who will likely trounce you in two hits, which will bring you to the HubLevel. There is an achievement for depleting his first life bar, but when that happens he'll still knock out Corvus and send him to the hub level anyway.
* MightyGlacier: Varg can deliver powerful hits that cover a wide area, but they're very well-telegraphed and can be parried or dodged easily.

Added DiffLines:

Urd, Aisemy's sister, is another of the Knights of Pure Blood, but unlike Varg who was bestowed with the Blessing and needed continued injections, Urd took in a large amount of Pure Blood at once to quickly match the strength of her fellow warriors. However, she is wary of the effects of alchemy on both herself and the people around her, and swears against it.

Added DiffLines:

The final boss of the game in the Sea of Memories is a manifestation of Corvus' self-doubt. He must be overcome so that Corvus can finally piece everything together and complete the cure that will save the Kingdom.
----
* MirrorBoss: Anything Corvus can do, this boss can do as well -- aside from healing with potions or use Plague Weapons earned from bosses. This boss can even swap between mutually exclusive talents mid-battle.
