* LackOfEmpathy: The trucks will stop at nothing to enjoy playing around that they will show little to no concern for the wellbeing of any character, whether engines or humans. One example is when they knocked the guard off of the brake van in "A Close Shave", and didn't care one bit. The only ones they don't target at all are Donald and Douglas, who smashed the Spiteful Brake Van on purpose (it was really an accident, but they didn't know that).

* OneShotCharacter: Makes no other appearances other than his starring role in the episode "Break Van".
* PerpetualFrowner: Well, at least in the T.V. version. It perfectly fits his "spiteful" personality.

* SurpriseCreepy: The first two times it's encountered are rather startling.

* TheArtifact: The reason why Annie and Clarabel have windows in ''The Railway Series'' was because Thomas in the original books operated Annie and Clarabel as a push-pull train, (meaning he pushed his coaches backwards on top of pulling them), with Clarabel being a control car (allowing the driver to operate Thomas from the other side of the rear coach), thus making the windows necessary for the driver to see ahead. In the TV show, Annie and Clarabel are still depicted with windows in the show (since it is faithful to their illustrations), despite the fact that Thomas doesn't operate a push-pull train in the show (as he doesn't need to, since the TV show changes the layout of his Branch Line to be more of a loop), making them obsolete in the TV show.

* CoolTeacher: To Nia in Counting on Nia.

* KarmaHoudini: They would always get away with causing the accidents steam engines suffer (such as James's famous accident) and the [[MisplacedRetribution engines will always get reprimanded by The Fat Controller for them]].[[note]]This is rectified [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4EkZySw4QH0 in one book adaptation]] of ''Thomas and the Breakdown Train''. On the last page, Sir Topham Hatt is seen scolding one of the trucks, which has an ashamed expression on its face, for derailing James.[[/note]] Of course, it's as much "getting away with it" as [[PyrrhicVictory they smash themselves to pieces in a rail accident in the process]], ([[TooKinkyToTorture granted it never stops them laughing about it anyway]]).

* {{Sadist}}: They don't care what happens to the engines.
* TooDumbToLive: Some trucks have caused themselves to get smashed to pieces in railway accidents they themselves cause, but the remaining trucks never learn and gleefully continue to cause trouble for the engines even if doing so would mean suffering the same fate.
