This isn't an example of Continuity Snarl, this is just a rant against a character you don't like.

* ContinuitySnarl: There's no other way to look at it. CD Projekt's other dual decisions earlier in the game had interesting moral shades of grey coupled with genuine ramifications down the path. But "spare" Berengar (even though he will attack you with intent to ''kill'' if you refuse to roll over and forgive him and instead [[DisproportionateRetribution quite justifiably tell him to get out of your face]]) and Geralt will spout some nonsense about facing Javed alone being "suicide" even though it's perfectly possible to beat the sorcerer alone after Javed butchers the B man in a flash. The choice of killing Berengar and acquiring his unique wolf medallion (which also explains the amulet change when you wear Raven's armour) is by far the better story-driven reason for Geralt's survival against a powerful mage.

* ContinuityNod: With a dash of SpinOffspring. He is a nod to a scene from the books, where a knight tries to take on a manticore in lieu of a witcher and gets unceremoniously killed. * ArrowCatch: Deflects Geralt's thrown stiletto knife with a parry of his sword's flat.
* {{Badass}}: He is able to keep Geralt on the ropes throughout their entire duel and in a straight-up sword fight he most definitely would have ''won''. Any rabid fan will note however that Egan definitely had prep time before carrying out his assassination. But then again, there's no such thing as honour, or clean fighting in a match to the death. Luck or fate can be a deciding factor.
* DualWielding: Wields a pair of short cutlasses, the most glaring evidence that he belonged to the Viper School, since this was a style favoured later by both Serrit and Auckes.
* NoNameGiven: He is often addressed in fan-circles with the moniker that was Auckes' original name in concept development before it was changed for an unexplained reason.
* SmallRoleBigImpact: Although his appearance lasts less than two minutes, hoo-boy what a minute and a half it is! Without him, the events of the second game would never have happened.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: Geralt never even ''asks'' Letho whether he belonged to the Kingslayer sect or not!
