* {{Badass}}: He's the father of the Originals, he's absolutely a badass. Mikael is one of the most dangerous creatures to have ever existed, slaughtering entire groups of humans, werewolves and vampires with ease. He is also the strongest Original being able to overpower Elijah with ease. On his last fight with Klaus he was weakened further thanks to Papa Tunde's blade as well as werewolf venom but still manages to stake Klaus despite being overpowered using skill and tactics. Mikael cannot be labeled as not really evil if he is reponsible for thousands of dead people or responsible for sending innocent people to their death to prove a distraction. Mikael is evil but like Klaus sympathetic despite it.

* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: [[spoiler:Despite hating most of his family, he's overjoyed to find that Freya is still alive.]] Mikael is not evil though, just filled with utter hatred and anger, and seeks nothing more than the annihilation of Klaus and those who make the mistake of getting in his way. Mikael is the antagonist simply because Klaus is the protagonist. He was always fond of Rebekah too, calling her his favorite to Marcel, it seems Mikael favored his daughters over his sons.

Correction , I mean Mikaell did not dominate his last fights with Klaus, but faced him on equal terms the second to last fight despite the werewolf venom handicap. He was overpowered the last fight but only due to the venom, dagger and lack of feeding. Then he used his brains to overcome Klaus brawn
Is there an issue? Send a MessageReason:
Elijah did not dominate the second to last fight with Klaus , it was equal till Klaus used combat pragmatist tactics. But this was only due to the venom. He was also overpowered and inches from losing their last fight but he was still recoving from the venom, dagger and lack of feeding. However he relied on his better skills and tactical thinking to win using Cami as Klaus weakspot. Highlighting that Mikael is more then a powerhouse, he is a veteren warrior.

Kol was already killing for fun as seen in the beginning when the Mikaelsons first went on the run. As seen in flashbacks Finn pointed out that Kols killing sprees was drawing attentions. Kol was frustrated due to his lack off magic but even then was only part of the cause. Finn mentioned that Kol had always had control and impulse control issues and being a vampire only enhanced that. Not only that when he came back to life a second time, his time as a human humbled him and made him more focused. He even became a better person thanks to his relationship with Davina. But in the end his impulse nature and bloodlust sprung up again and went back to killing again , of course he looked regretful about it. But as the newly returned Finn pointed out , Finn has no control over his bloodlust., Before he reveled in it now he regrets it, but Finn axe crazy nature was all him

He didnt hand Klaus his ass, the first fight was basically even and the second time he had to use Cami to win. Still in effect however due to the Venom being in play. Basically the first fight was not a curb stomp, and the second fight was in Klaus favor . However both fights never would have happened if Mikael has not been poisoned and had been at full strength. Because Klaus would most likely have been killed in their first encounter.

The second part of the fight was not a curb stopped battle . As Mikael had to resort to throwing a weapon at Cami to save himself and get an openning . If not he would have died and lost. Also the first fight was equal footing, albiet only due to the venom in his veins . Sneak attack with Papa Tundae blade is pragmatic tactics on Klaus part, same tactics used by Mikael when he threw a weapon at Cami.

* CurbStompBattle: A trained and highly skilled warrior, add his immense strength and resilience most fights go that way. The fight ended with Mikael staking his step-son, luckily for Klaus the stake was depowered so it only neutralized him rather than kill him.

His wife is dead, leaving only his hate for Klaus to keep them going. His children never warmed up to him, Finn was more his mother's. Kol was fine being a loner . Also Klaus, Rebekah and Elijah had each other. The only child that loved him unconditionally was Freya and he believed her dead. * WellIntentionedExtremist: In his own way he is attempting to correct his mistake for making the Vampire race. As well as basically destroying the family he was trying to save, by granting them immortality . Unfortunately he doesn't much care how many bodies it takes to get it done as its collateral damge to him, he still won't kill needlessly though as every kill he makes is to serve a purpose i.e hurt Klaus and take away any safe haven . Unfortunately to him taking away safe haven is burning whole Cities down with the people still in them.

As shown in the last encounter . Mikael parenting style was saved for Klaus. As he explained to Klaus he always hated him. It had nothing to do with his style, just an irrational hate that lead him to beating Klaus and noone else. Everyone else got harsh words Klaus got the beatings. It was so bad even Rebekah was going to kill him for it. There was no explanation either, no cause . When Klaus asked Why? Mikael honest answer was the loss of Freya, the suspected infidelity of Esther. Simply put '' I just did"

* WellIntentionedExtremist: In his own way he is attempting to correct his mistake for making the Vampire race. As well as basically destroying the family he was trying to save, by granting them immortality . Unfortunately he doesn't much care how many bodies it takes to get it done as its collateral damge to him, he still won't kill needlessly though as every kill he makes is to serve a purpose i.e hurt Klaus. His new parenting style was this as well as After his personality change, his reasons for being very hard on his children.

Unfortunately to him taking away safe haven is burning whole Cities down with the people still in them.

* ImAHumanitarian: He is a vampire that feeds only on other vampires, though he will feed on werewolves as alternative and humans only when desperate to heal from Tunde's dagger. Ironically while eating humans is beneath him. Wiping whole cities out and killing [[Hypocrite thousands of them is not.]]

* FaceHeelTurn: Until it was revealed by Esther and later confirmed by Finn and Freya, we thought Mikael was always abusive but it turns out he was actually decent once upon time, and for such a tough guy, he took the loss of his daughter very hard, more so than Esther and Finn. However how much of a face is debatable when we find out that he was one of the Vikings that stormed Freya and Dahlia village and slaughtered everyone there. Then again it was the [[ValueDissonance middle ages and that kind of thing was the norm.]]

* FatatlFlaw: For all his intellligence and power, his dismissive nature of his son has killed him twice. He keeps underestimating Klaus cunning and strength. The first time he overestimated his control of a situation and it backfired giving him his first death. The second time he was caught off guard in the middle of [[TheReasonYouSuck one of his speeches]] and killed by a blitz attack that left him defenseless and ended up dead a second time.

* FriendlyNeighborhoodVampire: Averted big time, he dislikes vampires and doesn't feed on people but he is a cranky extremly aggressive and violatile vampire who has little patience for others and kills with no hesitation.
