* YouCantThwartStageOne: Eryk seeks out Hermann in the hopes of finding a cure to the Nycrux in the earliest parts of the game, and reaching him is your immediate goal after finishing the tutorial. Sure enough [[spoiler: he doesn't have the cure, is quite mad, has been experimenting on people to try to recreate the transition into a Cold One, and tries to kill you once you finally meet him.]] Only after meeting him is the true overarching goal of the game laid bare.
