* MommasBoy: He was much closer to his mother Elizabeth than his father DW. Her death by illness was the reason he went to medical school and abandoned his family farm, and blames his father for her death. While he does try to mend his broken relationship with DW, he still has some lingering grudges him, which manifests when he Hulks out, and Hulk's resentment of DW is shown in full-display.

* ParentsAsPeople: He loves his family, but he's a dedicated farmer. David's doctorate degree couldn't be reconciled with his dedication with farm work, which drives a wedge between them when David decides to be a doctor instead of a farmer. But DW does has his lost love for his son when he discovers David is alive. And since Hulk is completely aware that DW is his father, David's old childhood resentment digs to the surface just to show how pent-up he is towards DW. But when David tries to save him, Hulk's anger towards him vanishes and wants to stay with him despite DW's urging to leave.

This, in hindsight, is a ''much better outcome'' than Bruce's relationship with Brian who was a monster in the form of a man in the comics.

* ItCanThink. The Hulk can be a savage brute, but he isn't mindless. He can tell friend from foe based on David's recent memories, and goes out of his way to save said friend from the VillainOfTheWeek and their thugs. In "Homecoming", he recognizes Helen as his sister, but is enraged by the sight of DW's photo, showing that David's still has animosity towards his father and even went to his house ''directly''. But when David tries to save DW and his friend due to his plane being sabotaged, Hulk's anger towards DW fades, and he even cries when DW begs him to leave before he gets caught.

* WhatMeasureIsANonHuman: David spent decades trying to either control or getting rid of the Hulk with mixed results. In his point of view, the Hulk is a mindless beast that is strong enough to snap a person in two, especially with all the destruction he causes, whether [[DestuctiveSaviour intentional or not]]. But there are people who don't have the same viewpoint, since they see Hulk in a different light rather than a monster of mass destruction both David and Jack see him as, since he's also capable of other emotions besides anger.

* SuperiorSuccessor: David's Hulk is much stronger and durable than Del Fry's Hulk, whose Hulk did exist 30 years before David's time. When David Hulks out, the younger Hulk is clearly stronger than the older one, and still wouldn't hurt anyone who doesn't deserve it while Fry's Hulk indiscriminately kills anyone that slights his human counterpart.

* DestructiveSaviour: Comes with the territory of being a seven-foot tall gamma irradiated monster who's always trying to save someone David knows that are in danger. Expect ''a lot'' of property damage when he's trying to save someone.
